Our new year's resolution is to get a BFP!

I fell off the December bus today after a 34 day cycle. AF turned up this afternoon. I will be ovulating on Christmas Day by the looks of things! Hoping this means I can enjoy mulled wine etc this Christmas.

So here we go again.

Does anyone keep their husband in the loop with all this ttc talk? By that I mean all the apps and opks, temping that kinda thing? My husband is completely oblivious and wouldn't want to know. He's be totally put off and under pressure to perform if I told him when I'm ovulating etc. So I just have to keep all this manic symptom spotting to myself (and you guys you lucky things!) But wondering how your DHs deal with it?

MummyBearBoo · 27/12/2018 14:05

I tell my husband when my most fertile days are and let him know when I have a positive OPK but as for symptoms spotting I don't talk to him about that - I have this weird thing; I usually get hiccups quite a lot however when I am pg I usually have 1 hiccup now and then but then don't have any more so I don't get a bout of hiccups - that's what caused me to take a pg test last time I was pg - since my positive OPK I've not had a bout of hiccups just the odd one now and again so I'll see how it goes and see if my AF comes on 2nd/3rd I'm hoping that I'm not hiccuping because I'm pg!!

thosethreewords · 27/12/2018 14:07

@MummyBearBoo gosh that does sound very scary. Although it may not seem it, it is reassuring that tests came back negative if they were looking for lots of different things. I hope she continues to do better.
@WildFlower2018 that is a load of shitty announcement timings right there!! FX you can have a bit of the baby dust and spotlight for once; it is lovely to be happy for other people and their milestones, but sometimes we just want a bit of the sparkle on us!

I know this is slightly getting ahead of myself, but has anyone thought about where they would book for their antenatal care? I live just outside Manchester so have a few hospitals near me, but I've worked in the closest maternity unit so considering (FX - if Im lucky) booking at the next closest, but that would be about 25-30 minutes away from where I live. Not sure if thats too far... but I guess some of you must be further away from hospitals?

thosethreewords · 27/12/2018 14:11

By the way, its not that the place I would book isn't good for maternity care (and many doctors, nurses, midwives I know do book there), it's just I had a slightly less than great experience with some of the seniors when I was on sick leave, and I would need consultant led care due to a preexisting medical condition.
Just in case someone was thinking there's a rubbish unit and they live near manchester, thats not what I meant!

bunhead34 · 27/12/2018 16:00

I tell my husband when I'm ovulating but that's it, I know he'd get annoyed with my obsessing!

Another friend just announced she's pregnant 😭

SadieSue29 · 27/12/2018 16:14

Boodles I don't tell my OH when I am ovulating no reason really just don't want him to think I'm just wanting to have sex with him more due to ovulation, haha which is totally what I am doing.

Had another positive ovulation stick today, DTD this morning then I am away for the next two days. My OH will be away in January with work over ovulation dates so if we don't fall this month it will be February before we can next try but more than. Likely he will be away February too.

Stupid question- I use this app is there a way to see the thread when replying? I can't remember everyone's usernames to reply to.

thosethreewords · 27/12/2018 17:09

@SadieSue29 my DH is maybe going to be away for 6 weeks from end of jan so if we don't conceive this or next cycle, it will be March for us!!
When you are replying in the app, you can start typing your response and click the x in the top right corner and it will save what you've written so far!

thosethreewords · 27/12/2018 17:11

@boodles101 my DH knows I temp (has no idea why!) and that I have sticks but also doesn't want to know when I'm ovulating because otherwise he thinks I'm just after sex for babymaking. Tbh though, libido is meant to increase with ovulation so actually, it's biology 😂😊

HJWT · 27/12/2018 17:25

@thosethreewords my nearest hospital is 5 mins away but its not recommended for giving birth unless your low risk because they cant even do c-sections there? Were i had DD is 40 mins away BUT 1-1 1/2 hours in traffic 🤭

PyjamasForever · 27/12/2018 19:47

It's got very busy since I vanished for Christmas. Really sorry to hear that not everyone had the best Christmas, but hopefully lots of us will have good news in the new year.

Coil coming out tomorrow... woo hoo!!

boodles101 · 27/12/2018 19:57

Yes I agree DH will think I'm just using him for sperm if I telling him I'm ovulating.
thosethreewords my hospital took 12mins to get to when I was in labour with my DS, they have a MLU and a normal labour ward so I'd happily go there again in future.
pyjamas woohoo to no coil. Can you get trying straight away or does it take a while to regulate? Sorry never had a coil so no idea what it's like woth periods etc.

lavenderbluedilly · 27/12/2018 20:41

I don’t tell DH about me temping or using OPK, he’d be stressed out I think. I’m CD5 today, hoping to start trying on Sunday!

PyjamasForever · 27/12/2018 21:44

Last time I got my BFP very very soon after having my coil removed @boodles so I'm hoping for the same good luck this time.

I'm a little bit envious of all of you who know when you're ovulating!

MummyBearBoo · 27/12/2018 22:08

@PyjamasForever - fingers x for you - I only know from OPKs -I was very regular ovulating the 3rd week of my 35 day cycle but then this time it was almost 4 weeks after! Maybe try OPks?xx

Monday55 · 27/12/2018 23:12

I'm CD9 now and OH is happy to DTD everyday as He's on work xmas break until 8th Jan and my fertile week starts 1st Jan but we have already started trying in case I have a short cycle. I won't bother with OPK this cycle as we are DTD everyday, hopefully this will make things less stressful.

It's my 1st cycle but feeling optimistic Smile bring on the new year BFPs !

Onto double digits, brilliant. Trying to stay hopeful but a bit tired of the rollercoaster this month already- and not even in fertile window yet. DP and I plan on DTD every other day up until my temp rise this cycle- any more than that has been too much pressure for him lately so I'm trying to at least appear to take a more relaxed approach- she says with her BBT thermometer, OPK's and 3 cycle monitoring apps Grin. Hope to see a lot of BFP's on here to brighten up miserable January!

PaintingOwls · 28/12/2018 11:31

TMI but I just had a HUGE amount of EWCM come out of the blue, 3DPO. Why is this happening?

We managed to DTD yesterday morning so now I'm feeling tentatively and desperately hopeful.

Hi @paintingowls I was wondering how you were getting on! I have been toying with getting off the bus due to missing ovulation but still clinging to tiny bit of hope. This sounds like a good sign for you.

boodles101 · 28/12/2018 13:00

Sounds promising paintingowls maybe you didn't miss it after all.
Welcome goldflake hoping you get a nice new year surprise.

MummyBearBoo · 28/12/2018 14:19

So AF due on 2nd desperately trying to talk myself out of testing earlier than then. I'm 9dpo today so I need to stay strong this weekend then off to York for NYE then staying overnight so won't test then - but maybe I should test before NYE as then I'll know if I can drink or not?!

MummyBearBoo · 28/12/2018 14:20

Finger x for you @PaintingOwls xxx

boodles101 · 28/12/2018 15:00

mummybearboo ooo you're the first to test so far. Do you think it would spoil your NYE if you get a negative? If it would then hold off testing til NYD and you might be starting the year on a BFP.

MummyBearBoo · 28/12/2018 15:23

Yes you're right but if it is negative I could just drown my sorrows!! But yeh I'm gonna hold off til 2nd when I'm home - I've only got one CB test left before I need to get some more from Amazon! Xx

agteacht · 28/12/2018 15:52

Joining you ladies
Was gutted not to get BFP in Dec as now a year since miscarriage. But onwards and upwards and hopeful for Jan. Am on CD 11 but have long cycles so fertile window not until 6th. Wishing you all lots of NY baby dust!

agteacht · 28/12/2018 15:53

PS haven't been temping, is it too late to start for this cycle or still worth while? Thank you ❤️
