We're very close to maxing-out our previous thread, so time to start afresh 🙂

To borrow the intro from @Blondcat (our old threads founder):

A wonderful bunch of ladies supporting each other through the ttc journey when trying for a first baby after 35.

Good luck all!! 🍀🤞🏻🍀🤞🏻

I have no idea, I've been on the pill for years and had to delay ttc because of gynae issues, that's why I got the opks to try and get an idea. It's good to hear 9/10 is possible though, thanks.

79andnotout · 04/12/2018 11:57

I think I had a bigger crush on the ladies of that era than the dudes. I styled my whole look on Shirley Manson for years, with the occasional bit of Justine Freishman thrown in for good luck. Although I did also have a bit of a thing for Gruff Rhyss, and Jonny Greenwood, oh and Gaz Coombes while I think of it. Those sidies! Oh to be a hormonal teenager once more.

BambiOnIce80 · 04/12/2018 12:08

Absolutely agree on Shirley Manson @79andnotout 😍 I mostly based my mid-90's style on Echobelly's Sonya Madan... ah, memories 😊 One thing I was very sure of when I was that age was that I didn't want kids; bloody 30+ hormones have a lot to answer for! 😏

Good luck with the scan and decision making @CNizzle 🍀 Also good luck @VenusStarr for the bloods 🍀

That sucks that DP's appointment has been put back @terriwrist 🙁 I'd personally stick with the free NHS blood tests. The reason we don't use saliva in the lab for fertility screening is it's simply not as good as blood for accurately measuring hormone levels.

Oooh, Sicilian Christening @Pinkywoo! That's going to be epic! I went to a confirmation in Rome last year and that was one hell of a do 🍾🥂🍝🍝🍝🍝😂 They let me off for being a godless heathen too 😉

CNizzle · 04/12/2018 12:21

Omg @79andnotout i think we would get on v well!! I ❤ Gaz coombes (those sideburns 😍) & Gruff! Saw Gruff last weekend, and Danny Goffey's band the night after! Off to see The Cardigans tonight. Nina Persson was my total girl-crush mid 90s!! Still living it like its 1996 here! Ha ha.

US went well. Apart from waiting 40 mins, no sign of the polyp. Apparently "just one of those things" & what they saw could just pass like a clot with AF.

BambiOnIce80 · 04/12/2018 13:20

Well, that sounds like good news then @CNizzle 🙂 No laproscopy needed for you! 🎉

... I've got "losing my favourite game" playing on a loop in my head now! 😂 Enjoy.x

OP posts:
79andnotout · 04/12/2018 13:22

@BambiOnIce80 - I've had Great Things going round my head for the last couple of hours now.

@CNizzle - ha I didn't like Nina Persson - my mates fancied her and she was just everything i could never be and I resented her! Too cute and blonde. Gaz and Gruff have just got better with age. Seen them at festival no 6 in Portmerion before and they're so good. Enjoy the gig, and glad the ultrasound was good news!

Sicilian christening sounds tasty @Pinkywoo!

79andnotout · 04/12/2018 13:22

(I realise it's supposed to be about god and all that stuff but I only think about the food in christenings, wedding etc).

Pinkywoo · 04/12/2018 15:11

I think food is the second religion in Sicily, they're all obsessed!

Kescilly · 04/12/2018 15:23

@PixieN, I see that you’ve gotten a high reading on your monitor now, congrats! Mine definitely differed because my cycles went irregular as soon as I started TTC. I think stress can make everything go haywire. Good luck this cycle!

@MrsRRC once you get a “peak” reading, it will trigger an automatic peak the next day, then high, then back to low. I did all the days requested at first, but eventually stopped testing after I got my first peak. Those sticks aren’t cheap!

@Carley321 congrats on the (hopefully) shorter cycle! How many is this for you since you stopped BC?

@BambiOnIce80 did I miss the change of thought from kitten to puppy? Why not both? 😁

@VenusStarr you’re not overreacting, please don’t compare yourself to anyone! I hope you’re feeling better today and that your test results show ovulation.

@terriwrist what a disappointment on the cancelled appointment. Will you be able to reschedule soon?

@Pinkywoo I think it’s possible to ovulate early, but it could also be an “attempt” at ovulation so I’d keep testing with OPKs.

@CNizzle glad that the U/S went well!

I don’t know any of the celebs being mentioned so have been hastily googling people!

terriwrist · 04/12/2018 17:42

Thanks @Kescilly @BambiOnIce80 @VenusStarr @Pinkywoo
OH managed to call and get it re-scheduled for Thursday.

MrsRRC · 04/12/2018 18:09

Thanks @Kescilly I like to use the all the sticks because I like to read them (data nerd) 🤓

Chipping in on 90s, I was a Jarvis Cocker girl myself.

Strangely, I was planning OHs Birthday - it’s mid Jan so tends to get a bit overlooked so I always feel the need to overspend.

I’ve gone for a Madchester theme this year. We’re staying at a nice hotel for the weekend, going to Tattu for dinner and going on a Manchester music tour with Craig Gills (Inspiral Carpets drummers wife) which covers The Smith, Oasis, Stone Roses, etc. Maybe lay some flowers at the site of The Hacienda.

If anyone else has got any other Manchester recommendations I’d be pleased to hear them. I feel we are a little light on cocktail action.

79andnotout · 04/12/2018 18:42

@MrsRRC for cocktails my friends really rate this place: www.the-washhouse.co.uk/
It's a speakeasy. You have to book a table in advance. OH doesn't really drink cocktails so we usually go to craft ale places (Port St Beer House predominantly).

If you want uber trendy veggie fare and baked goods this place is amazing: pollenbakery.com/

I've not been to Tattu but it's on the list! Think they do offers in January too.

I'd be interested in that tour with some of my uni mates, let me know if it's good.

If you need any other recommendations please ask, I've been in Manchester since uni days and bloody love it. It is absolutely full of cranes and housing developments though so you might need earplugs! I'm a bit worried about the seemingly endless flats that are going up in the centre. It's completely changing the city.

79andnotout · 04/12/2018 18:44

Also yes love Jarvis. What a man.

CNizzle · 04/12/2018 18:44

Ooh @MrsRRC Jarvis... yup.
@79andnotout Ive been to No.6 a few times too! Went in 2017 (flaming lips), and the year Grace Jones played. Pity its not running any more. Bluedot festival at Jodrell Bank is my current fave: Science/music/giant telescope, whats to dislike! Already have our 2019 tickets. Hopefully be going whilst pregnant next year,. But then again i thought that might have happened this year! 🤞
@terriwrist 🤞 for thursday, at least you didnt have to wait too long for an appointment.

79andnotout · 04/12/2018 18:48

@CNizzle yeah we're going to bluedot too, couldn't say no to Kraftwerk! Saw that 3D show at latitude and OH hasn't shut up about it since. We went to the first blue dot and really enjoyed it.

Didn't realise no 6 was finished! That's a shame. I guess it's because they had such troubles with flooding. Last time we went when Beck played it was a scorcher, so nice!

BambiOnIce80 · 04/12/2018 19:56

@Kescilly I've always been a dog person, but was going to go for a cat because they wouldn't need a dog walker whilst we're at work 😬 A neighbours cat that used to visit us was a total sweetheart and a good advert for his kind, so that swayed me to cats as well. When it came down to the nitty gritty though, DP said he'd rather we get a dog than a cat and wait until we know the outcome of our TTC efforts (probably a good 18 months from now, realistically). Time really will tell! 🙂 And surely you must have had an NKOTB thing with you being American?! 😉

@MrsRRC it sounds like your DP is going to get spoilt for his birthday! It never occurred to me that there could be a plethora of good recommendations on here when visiting other cities! Will have to bear that in mind for the future 🔮 If anybody ever needs tips for Edinburgh, just shout 😎

Carley321 · 04/12/2018 21:34

Thanks @Venusstar it seems to be getting to the point where I feel like I’m opening a little prezzie whilst waiting for these OPK results 🙈. Good luck with the bloods.

@terriwrist glad you were ables to reschedule your appoint. X

@BambiOnIce80 Oo a puppy... how sweet. That is defo a deal not to let go of. Although keeping 🤞 that a little bambino will get to you first!

Thanks @Kescilly this will be the 4th cycle since stopping. But only the second time Iv actually had clear positive opks and actually felt as if my body is going through something (it’s in force today, but it excites me). How are you feeling?

I did a CB and a cheapy OPK today .... static smiley plus to stand out clear lines on the cheapy! So I’m really pleased 😀.

BambiOnIce80 · 04/12/2018 22:16

So chuffed for your stonkingly BFP OPK's @Carley321 😊 Best get DingTD!! No slouching tonight! 😉

Kescilly · 05/12/2018 00:37

@BambiOnIce80 I know of NKOTB but they totally passed me by! I had a very sheltered childhood and missed out on a lot of pop culture. And that makes sense about the dog now. I love both dogs and cats and hope to see lots of pics of you end up with one. :)

@Carley321it sounds like your cycles are getting back to normal. How exciting!

I’m feeling pretty good, just tired. And my clothes started getting a little tight but I don’t feel pregnant, just fat. Sad I think I might order myself some stretchy pants and see if it helps me feel better.

My next NHS scan isn’t until January but we are going to try for a private gender scan on Christmas Eve. I’ll be 17+5 then so not sure how much she’ll be able to see but I’m still hopeful.

MrsRRC · 05/12/2018 07:42

Thanks @79AndNotOut for the recommendations. I used to live in Cheshire near Bramhall when I was a child and I have very vivid memories of being on my Dad’s shoulders as we walked around the Arndale Centre. I’ve always wanted to go back and have a look around.

@BambiOnIce80 Edinburgh is next on the list, I am hoping he takes me for my birthday in June.

@Carley321 fingers crossed for you this month.

@Kescilly glad you’re feeling good. It won’t be long before you stop feeling a bit tubby and start feeling and looking pregnant 🤰 Exciting news about the potential gender reveal on Christmas Eve - how lovely.

CBFM asking for it’s first stick of the cycle (Day 7) so back on the merry go round I go!

Things already feel a bit different this cycle, I think it might be the l-arginine - like there is more blood flow. I could definitely tell things were a bit sluggish last month.

I’ve added vitamin D to my stash even though I have it in my multivitamin because I really don’t think I am getting enough. It’s horribly grey and overcast in the mornings and dark when I leave the office at night. I won’t be adding anymore supplements. Ha!

PixieN · 05/12/2018 08:09

I’ve been loving all the 90s band references and festival ideas. Absolutely love Oasis, Blur, Pulp and The Lightning Seeds 💕 DH and I need to go to more music festivals - it’s something we’ve spoken about in the past, but never seem to get round to. Festival 6 at Portmeirion sounds fab! Shame it won’t be running anymore. It’s one of our favourite places too.

@Carley321 - sounds like brilliant opk results. Wishing you luck this month!

@BambiOnIce I’ve only been to Edinbrough once for a wedding, but would love to go back. Heard lots of recommendations for the Edinburgh Fringe.

@CNizzle - good news about your US. A friend of mine had to have a larosocopy and it completely wiped her out!

@VenusStarr I had some counselling with relate about 5 years ago. I felt a bit odd about it, as there’s mental illness in my family, but it really helped and I needed it at the time.

@kescilly - exciting news about your gender scan. Do you and DH have any preferences?

@MrsRRC did you say you start testing today? I’ve got another high reading on the CB monitor this morning. Now i’ll be obsessing at when/if i’ll get a peak!

Kescilly · 05/12/2018 08:40

@MrsRRC we went for my birthday last June! It was just for a weekend but it was my first time being in Scotland at all and I loved it. I especially loved how long the days were, we’d go for long walks after dinner when the streets were emptier and it was quite beautiful.

I’m glad that you feel a little more energetic this time around. Personally I’m a big fan of Vitamin D supplements year round. I was deficient even in sunny climes, so I know I’m not getting enough here. Plus I don’t think the milk is fortified with it here like it is in the US?

@PixieN time to get busy! I usually had two or three highs before my first peak.

I think we’d both like a girl, so of course I’m convinced it will be a boy. 😂

Russkispy · 05/12/2018 09:44

Finished my stims and trigger, 5 eggs out of 7 follicles. But only 1 got fertilised. Gutted and deflated but still hoping this is THE one! Embryo transfer on Saturday.

BambiOnIce80 · 05/12/2018 11:56

Crikey @Russkispy, you certainly don't hang about! I love your style! 😍 Keeping everything crossed that the 1 embryo is a sticky embryo 🤞🏻🍀🤞🏻🍀

A Christmas eve gender reveal will probably be way more exciting than Christmas day itself @Kescilly! 😃 Please do share when you know ❤️

In the nicest possible way @MrsRRC, I hope you're not still here in June (I have a sneaky suspicion that I will be though 🙄)! If you are though I will absolutely hook you up with Edinburgh bar/restaurant/things to see and do recommendations 😊

3dpo here (probably/maybe!) and feeling remarkably optimistic today 🙂 I suspect this has more to do with being relieved that I've delivered my last BSc lecture that was hanging over me rather than being anything to do with TTC though 😏 The students even asked relevant questions this time, unlike last time where they sat there slack-jawed and blantly faffing on Facebook! 🤨
