We're very close to maxing-out our previous thread, so time to start afresh 🙂

To borrow the intro from @Blondcat (our old threads founder):

A wonderful bunch of ladies supporting each other through the ttc journey when trying for a first baby after 35.

Good luck all!! 🍀🤞🏻🍀🤞🏻

@terriwrist are they expensive? I might give them a whirl.

terriwrist · 06/11/2018 15:36

@NotMaryWhitehouse Just checked the Boots website and CB Advanced OPK are £27.99. I wanted to get the normal OPK as actually had read mixed reviews about the advanced ones, however that was all that was available at the local Boots and in the end it turned out pretty accurate in detecting the estrogen and LH surges.

terriwrist · 06/11/2018 15:39

@NotMaryWhitehouse what number cycle are you on? Am fairly early - on my 2nd cycle this month.

Kescilly · 06/11/2018 16:24

If I don't post on this thread for a few days, it drops off my list! Sorry for everything I've missed. Glad to hear that your dad has improved a bit, @CNizzle. How are you doing?

@Chelonia, great news on your results! It's funny how we can be so happy to be "average."

The wheels have started turning over here for me. I'll be consultant led and I've had a few extra tests because of various conditions. It still doesn't seem entirely real. We've booked a private Harmony test even though it costs £££ and they've offered to do a quick scan for free beforehand. It's happening tomorrow evening and I'm both excited and nervous about what we might see. I'm around 10+4 today.

My first NHS scan will be in about two weeks, and I'll see the doctor about a week and a half after that. I'm worried that various things have gone unchecked in the first trimester, but I can't do much about it now.

edidxb · 06/11/2018 17:00

Hi all,
I loved the Clearblue OPK but not the flashing ones, just the normal pink ones. I found the really accurate. I also had a massive stash of the one step cheap ones from Amazon that I used as back up but found them hard to read. I used them along side the Clearblue.

@Kescilly good luck for the scan - how exciting!

I am 5+3 here......no nausea but some pretty bad skin going on.

NotMaryWhitehouse · 06/11/2018 18:03

@terriwrist this will be cycle 8 🙄 split in the middle with a miscarriage in July. Just more frustrated than anything. I know it can take a year, but I've just wanted this for such a long time. Like everyone else in here I imagine!

I will maybe give them a try next month if we don't have any luck this time around, thanks for the info

terriwrist · 06/11/2018 18:59

@NotMaryWhitehouse you've conceived once so its possible again! Although am just starting out...am a bit anxious as have never conceived before!

Carley321 · 06/11/2018 19:05

@CNizzle Glad your dad is doing a little better. Hope you are holding up 💗.
I don’t know what bloody happened. That will teach me for not using a more inconspicuous username to begin with.... although I’m sure it doesn’t matter, as I don’t think any of you ladies is a neighbour or a work colleague 😂🤔.

@Bambi we managed one time befor DP came down with a heavy cold, so gutting. But I literally don’t have it in me to knowingly enter a the germ zone! It’s a definite bit of OCD.
Your time away is making me so jealous, we went to Italy in the summer, it is one of
My favourites, Highly because of how much Italians love to feed you. Good luck this month.... maybe good times, good food and good wine are just the destress you need to get a BFP.

Just in the waiting game my end. Although I’m sure the 1 time didn’t do a lot of good.

Anyone testing soon?

Carley321 · 06/11/2018 19:07

Did* predictive txt... urgh!!

Carley321 · 06/11/2018 19:13

Sorry didn’t catch up all the way to the end of the thread.

@Kescilly good luck for your scan tomorrow. Very exciting! Time is going so fast.

I used the pink CB for the first time this month and got a big smiley face on the first test. I also used my cheapy’s to compare, and had quite a dark red line 2 days after the CB smiley. So I’m thinking they maybe a little late 🤔 but still so confused by it all.

NotMaryWhitehouse · 06/11/2018 19:43

@terriwrist that's very true and my GP said much the same this week! She also told me I need to stress less....... also true! I don't think it matters where you are in the journey tbh, it's nerve wracking from the moment you start- especially for a lot of us who are starting a bit later on.

Russkispy · 06/11/2018 20:06

IUI all done. The dominant follicle on the left grew up to 22x23mm! And on the right, 1 of them grew up to 17mm. That's a massive change from yesterday (right side). Lining was measured at 11.5. All looking good. dH's sample was very good too! Testing at 11/12dpiui.

QuantumGirl · 06/11/2018 20:26

@Russkispy lovely to hear it's all looking positive, fx for you.

@Carley321 did you test the CB with the cheapos? You might have a LP for longer than a day so worth checking with CB to compare. I also only use the pink one and test once again after a smile just to be sure.
Actually on a side note it's possible to detect pregnancy with an OPK isn't it, ladies? 🤔

CNizzle · 06/11/2018 20:29

Thanks @Kescilly & @Carley321 im doing ok.
Good luck Kescilly with the scan tomorrow.
@Russkispy that all sounds very positive on the IUI front.
@BambiOnIce80 i dont know if you lifestylehas to change. It's very acceptable to have kids & be social in mainland Europe! Ive an ex colleagus who went travelling during her mat leave. Said it was the easiest time ever as the little one easy to transport, and wouldnt escape if put down! But she was clearly chilled-out but pulled together earth-mother. Not sure im organised enough!

CNizzle · 06/11/2018 20:30

Apologies for the autocorrect mayhem there.

Carley321 · 07/11/2018 07:05

@QuantumGirl I used the cheapy the evening before, it had just a very faint line. Then CB the morning after (well about 12.30) then cheapy again that evening still a a faint line. Then a cheapy about 2 days later and it had quite a strong line.
So I’m not sure, maybe the faint red lines mean more than we think? Or maybe by body was just all over the place as usual lol.
Can it really detect pregnancy? The cheapy line has gone completely now though so that can’t be the case for me 🤔.

Russkispy · 07/11/2018 08:00

Asked doctor about DHEA intake during tww. She said pregnant women don't take DHEA! Well, let's just hope I am this cycle!
If BFN, will restart DHEA
Away for acupuncture 😉 have a good day everyone!

zoomies1 · 07/11/2018 14:13

Hi All. Any space for a newbie? I'm 37 and had my coil removed today. I admit I am a bit anxious about the whole thing so it might be good to have some lovely ladies to chat to as I don't really feel comfortable talking to people about it IRL. Advice and feedback welcome (although I have been sneaking a peek at these boards for a while....). Thanks.

Kescilly · 07/11/2018 14:58

Welcome @zoomies1! I think you’ll find this a good group to pass the time with.

Best of luck, @Russkispy!

BambiOnIce80 · 07/11/2018 15:20

Welcome @zoomies1 👋 There's always room for one more! 😊 When I got my coil taken out my immediate thought was "I'm really doing this then?!" 😄 The good thing about the coil was that my cycle didn't really miss a beat - couple of 30 day cycles and then settled back into alternate 28 & 29 day cycles 👍

Exciting times for you @Russkispy 🤞🏻🍀🤞🏻🍀

Carley321 · 07/11/2018 17:43

Hi @zoomies1 welcome 😊. Good luck with the ttc journey 🤞.

Well I’m pooped today.... and feeling quite down in the dumps.

🤞 for some ttc BFP arriving on the thread soon xx

QuantumGirl · 07/11/2018 19:00

Hi @zoomies1 and welcome to the thread. @Carley321 going back to the OPK subject I think it's worth doing a double check with CB whenever you see a line on the cheap ones but like I said your LP might be long which is not a bad thing. I tested the day after I got a smile and it was gone. Sorry to hear you are not feeling well btw, hope you feel better soon.

How is everyone else feeling? I'm putting a brave face on and I'm glad it's near Thursday. I'm doing everything I can to distract myself on this 2ww, I'm even contemplating DIY this weekend 😬

Kescilly · 07/11/2018 19:10

Just a quick update to say that the scan went well and little one is measuring right on schedule. Should have the Harmony results back next week and we are also opting to find out the gender. Still haven’t told anyone except my parents.

79andnotout · 07/11/2018 20:51

That's great @Kescilly !! Fingers crossed for the harmony test.

Welcome @zoomies1 and fingers crossed @Russkispy.

I'm 6dpo and have some sensations going on in my nether regions which my crazy symptom spotting is marking up as potential implantation but my logical brain is saying I accidentally touched my fandango with chilli fingers earlier while inspecting for an implantation bleed Confused
Or I'm getting a UTI. Fun.

I'm testing on Saturday with a frer, I don't care if it's too early. I have a wedding to go to and want to get drunk.

CNizzle · 07/11/2018 21:30

Welcome @zoomies1 its good to have people to chat too when its difficult IRL.
@Kescilly great news!
Urgh for chili fingers @79andnotout! Ive been there!! Ha ha! Fx for Saturday for a good wedding whatever the outcome!!
After me buying the cb monitor last month I cant use it this month cos I left it at home and I'm cd5 and you can only start a new cycle up to cd4 ☹ oh well. Haven't got my thermometer here either. Ill just have to wing it this month!!
