I think I am going again later this year it will be our 14th attempt! We have a DS from our 10th I had thought our last attempt would be the last as we had run out of donor sperm, for ds to have a full sibling, but they have found 3 more vials! ha three more attempts in theory. I am now 38 and they say I am still young for IVF not so sure myself! good luck everybody going throught it at the moment.

TheApprentice · 29/06/2007 09:01

Your 14th attempt! Wow! Don't honestly think I could go through with it that many times tbh. But good for you, and hope you have a succesful outcome.

How you doing Baggio and Cedar?

cedar12 · 29/06/2007 10:26

Hello everyone doing ok just want to get on and get started now. Off on holiday tomorrow so that should take my mind of everything. My hormones seemed to have calmed down got very down and had awful pmt last week. Me and Dh have had a long talk and feeling a lot better now. Had some reflexology on tuesday which helped aswell.
Baggio I will think of you next week and keep everything crossed, when can you test. I hope you are feeling ok today.
Suss 14th go wow!! Good luck for later this year.

ZipadiSuzy · 29/06/2007 15:02

how are you doing baggio? hope you are feeling better 2ww is grim esp the second week. Go do something to take your mind off it - v difficult I know cinema was always quite good. Saw my consultant on Friday who said he can find no reason not to try again, I seem to do everything really well except the conceiving! Had acupuncture with DS and going to have it again with the next attempt. apparently there is new research about acupuncture and implantation, so my consultant is keen for me to do it again.

baggio · 03/07/2007 13:58

no go with this first treatment unfortunately but feel better today after a horrendous down day yesterday.. not quite up to thinking about doing it again but will no doubt feel differently in a couple of days. Maybe after i have had blood test friday it will finalise things in head and heart.

Am going to try acupuncture and anything else anyone can suggest in the mean time as they is supposedly nothing wrong with me so I will try and get my body ready for either the next treatment or to give myself a better chance without ivf. I have learnt so much by just reading thru other peoples experiences on here that I feel much more knowledgeable about what can be done to help yourself !!

good luck to anyone else on 2 ww , will be thinking of you xx

ZipadiSuzy · 03/07/2007 14:51

Aw Baggio - I am so desparately sorry, please give yourself time to heal, my thoughts of hope are with you now.

When you have healed a little bit, try and focus on something to take you through the summer, some private time for reflection and family time, communication of your feelings really helps, I know not straight away, but I am really sorry and hope you can come out this stronger and ready again!

Acinonyx · 03/07/2007 19:44

Sorry for the bfn Baggio. Have you been to this site:

www.ivfconnections.com/

It's very US oriented but still very informative for people going through IVF.

It must be very frustrating when drs tell you there is nothing wrong with you. With regard to trying again, from what I have read, about 75-80% of people have a child within 3 cycles. I knwo you don't wnat to imagine doing one more let alone 2 - I felt just the same. But I just wanted to give you something to consider with hope for the future.

Best of luck, Jill

suss · 03/07/2007 21:09

Sorry to hear your news baggio. Give yourself some time and go shopping (well it was my thing). Where do you live? I am in London and the acupuncturist I saw when I got pg with my DS specialised in fertility. He now has a clinic on Bond Street - his name is gerad kite. He wasn't cheap - but neither is ivf. The only other thing I'd say is don't give up I had DS after our 10th attempt and I know of someone who had a baby after her 19th attempt. It is really hard, but hang in there. s xx

cedar12 · 09/07/2007 07:55

So sorry Baggio it didnt work for you this time. Hope you are doing ok.

Anybody in treatment atm

cedar12 · 09/07/2007 18:10

Hi everyone got my blood test results back today. a bit stressed out fsh was 8.2 in the normal range but the clinic says it high for my age i am 28. I thought it would be fine so a bit pissed off. Got an app tomorrow so will quiz them some more. Does any body know any thing about these test? My Lh is 7.5 and my oestradiol is 116.

OP posts:
ZipadiSuzy · 09/07/2007 23:32

Cedar - Sorry I can't help, I had egg donation so didn't have to go through what you're doing!!! sounds very confusing!!!!

But, good luck tomorrow, keep us posted!

wishing1 · 10/07/2007 00:03

sometimes fsh can change a little. I am 39 and have had 2 fsh tests 9 months apart, first one was 6.2 and the second recent one was 5.7, my LH was 2.4 so I think that is a little high for your age but what they told me is that relates to egg supply not so much quality, so while mine is low, the quality is 39 year old eggs vs. your 28 year old eggs, in the 10's is not good but still do-able. How long have you been ttc, or are you? All my stats are great but 12 months of ttc nothing happening and DH will not go for another sperm count, was low last time and he doesn't want to mess with ivf or anything until I'm 40-41, we are both changing jobs this month I just pray it happens naturally in between! I would get another count but seriously 8. is not bad.

ZipadiSuzy · 10/07/2007 11:55

wishing1 - my dh had a low sperm count and he was told to have multi-vitamins and zinc tablets - they worked!!!!!

my1stbaby · 10/07/2007 13:15

cedar, hi! hope you've had a good break in swanage and weather wasn't too bad.

with the lh and fsh results, it's not really the absolute value that matters so much but more the ratio between the 2. it should be about 1:1; if the ratio for LH is higher then it's an indication of PCOS. with the fsh itself, a value under 6 is considered excellent and between 6-9 is good. the day3 oestradiol results should be low as low levels tend to be better for stimulating.

i do know that fsh reading can vary from month to month. i had a reading 7.5 last sept before m/c with a ratio of 1:1, i was 40 yrs old then. now it went up to 8.5 in june.

HTH. i know you've got app. at clinic, so good luck with that. hopefully the info above is fairly accurate but please correct me if it isn't.

cedar12 · 10/07/2007 15:28

Hi everyone the nurse at the clinic has said my result are fine and as long as it under 10 not to worry and that it can fluctuate month to month. Thanks for all the advice you all know your stuff.
Dh had a repeat sperm test 2 weeks ago(had one last aug which was ok) got the result today was a bit of a shock motility isn't great. It must have dropped since I had last ectopic in feb as it only took 2 month to get pg after lap and dye. I suppose all the stress of loosing another baby and starting to smoke again with all the stress hasn't helped. He thought it was all a load of rubbish that eating a load of rubbish and smoking could effect it. Hes given up smoking again but its a bit late now, I am sure it takes 3 months for it changes to take affect. The nurse was talk about icsi now another £1000!!!!! anyway hes on a strict diet now.
Wishing one Good Luck I hope it happens for you naturally thanks for the info.
My first baby how are you? We did have a nice holiday thanks just what we needed. The weather wasnt to bad and we even had 2 days at the beach and went swimming in the sea!!

OP posts:
my1stbaby · 10/07/2007 20:16

wishing good luck! i hope it works naturally for you. please don't despair. i conceived for the first time at 40. unfortunately i m/c at 12wks back in feb. dh got his sperm checked out twice; the 1st results seemed to suggest slightly low mortility even though volume was fine. he repeated it 1.5 mth later, actually about 1 day before we conceived and the results were obviously fine ! he took multivits with zinc between the 2 tests but wasn't religious about it unless reminded . so start your dh on multi-vits if he's willing to give it a go. your fsh reading is superb! i'm sure it'll happen to you soon.

cedar great that you had a fab break; swimming in the sea you guys must be mad !. glad to hear everything works out fine at the clinic. i don't think it's too late if you start dh on vits and healthy diet/lifestyle now. if you follow the long stimulation protocol, it takes about 5-6 weeks from start to in vitro fertilisation and embryo transfer anyway. so still time to push dh into gear! if i remember correctly, wessex is willing to do another sperm test a week before expected egg harvest. if your clinic does that then you might find ICSI is not required after all. good luck!!!

cedar12 · 11/07/2007 08:48

Thanks my first baby it reasuring that we can make a bit of a difference. Dh is on a strict diet now stuffing him full of fruit and veg and he will be rattling with all vitamin I got from the health food shop yesterday

cedar12 · 11/07/2007 10:46

My consultant just phoned and confirmed crap sperm motility so suggesting icsi but said they will recheck dh sperm on the day. Just phoned dh hes really pissed off, I think hes feeling guilty about smoking again but at least hes given up now.
I thought I might give my reflexologist a ring do you think it would help him.

Sorry to eavesdrop but my sister is hoping to try IVF soon - she lives in a different country so I can't be there for her but wondered if anyone has any thought on how I can support her through this? (I have had fertility problems myself so know about that side of things, but haven't had IVF...)

cedar12 · 11/07/2007 12:25

Kteepee you sound like a lovely sister. I should just show an interest in the process and let her know you are at the end of the phone. Find out when her app are and then give her ring afterward to check she is ok.
