Congratulations plummy & fruitful! Scorpio - I really hope you get a BFP as soon as your tests arrive (tomorrow?).

Sweetkitty sorry to hear about your problems at home. Don't ever worry if you need a rant on here - that's what we're all hre for - to support each other on the TTC journey in any way we can.

I've got a bit of a dilemma. It's a long one, sorry. Some of you might remember that I had insect bites which ended up with cellulitis & lymphangitis last week. Well I had just recovered, and finished the antibiotics on monday morning, but now I have a very similar problem again, this time around my eye. It looks like I've had an insect bite again, but the whole area is really sore, red & swollen and my eye is partly closing. It looks like someone has given me a real shiner! I've got a cracking headache, all my glands are swollen, I'm shivery, nauseous etc.etc. I saw a Dr yesterday and he's given me a week's worth of Erythromycin (antibiotics) & and antibiotic cream. Today it was much worse, so I went back & saw my own DR & she has doubled my dose of antibiotics. The Drs are wondering why I keep getting these infections so are sending me for a full set of bloods including a test for diabetes. Anyway, my dilemma relates to TTC this month. I might ov as early as next thursday, the same day as I will finish the course of antibiotics (assuming things don't get any worse), and the day of my blood tests. Am I being really selfish to still want to TTC this month - will the antibiotics be bad for the 'potential' baby? Should I wait for the blood results in case there is something that needs treating before I fall pg? The bloods might take a few days to come back so it might be too late if I wait for them. I really want another baby. I have this whole 'should I wait, should i try' thing going round and round in my head and I just thought some of you might have some advice for me please?

Sorry for this very selfish post.

scorpio1 · 18/05/2007 20:38

imho,i would still carry on ttc, if you have finished antibiotics by the time baby implants. although do beware that AB's can mess up your cycle - i had a period for 2 weeks and no cm whatsoever when i had to go on them.

take the AB's wont you, best to recover from your bites. they sound horrid!

maybe buy some pre-seed to help your cm and sperm travel through cervix? go on access diagnostics to order if you want some .

MamaMaiasaura · 18/05/2007 21:00

congratulations Fruitful & MrFruitful!!

Happy birthday too xx

Scorpio - keeping fingers crossed for tomorrow. xx

pobletsmum · 18/05/2007 21:04

Thanks scorpio - I will have had 2 different antibiotics during this cycle, so if they can mess dates/CM/hormones up, I guess I'll have to be careful. If they have such an effect on hormones, I hope it's not a bad idea TTC this cycle. I can't stop thinking 'what should I do for the best'. Hmmmmmmm...

scorpio1 · 18/05/2007 21:06

just do it....you'll kick yourself if youre not pg this cycle, you'll wonder what if

MamaMaiasaura · 18/05/2007 21:11

Agree scorpio & the practising is fun too

pobletsmum · 18/05/2007 21:17

Thanks awen. Somewhere along the line BD stopped being fun but I really would like another baby, so I see it as a necessary chore!

MamaMaiasaura · 18/05/2007 21:27

LOL pobletsmum - dont let mr poblet see .. think of all the calories it burns off. I embarrassed myself when bding on top.. (sorry if tmi) I was squatting so bloddy hard work on the legs .. anyway i was counting in my head and when he 'came' I said without thinking I didnt even get to 60! .. poor dp, i wasnt thinking all romantic i was 'pacing' myself cos my legs were killing me! lol

pobletsmum · 18/05/2007 21:46

It's OK awen, 'pob' (DH) knows all about it being a chore! At least it's over quickly (let's just say I wouldn't get to 60 if counting ).

sweetkitty · 18/05/2007 22:17

pmsl at this thread now thanks ladies BDing does become a chore at the start to get them in there in the first place but worse is the end when you are trying to get them out (mercy shags as I called them) must be nothing worse than a nearly 42 weeks pregnant woman saying "hurry up will you"!!! poor man then all he's got to look forward to is about at least 6 sexless weeks once the babies here. Hopefully we will all talking about it next Jan/Feb.

pobletsmum - sorry to hear about your troubles ouch your eye sounds nasty, if it were me I would still ttc, you get antibiotics whilst pregnant so they must be safe, maybe ask the doc just to be sure.

I think I will be ovulating from Tuesday onwards so may have to "forgive" DP by then. Needs must eh? This ttc makes us all a bit mad and this is my first month.

plummymummy · 19/05/2007 00:14

Yes - no point cutting off your nose to spite your face This ttc business makes us a bit tetchy I reckon too. I mean it's a bit hard to be relaxed when you're mentally calculating what cd you're on, checking your tissue paper when you wipe etc then failing miserably to act normal during the 2ww. I think I have probably been a bit of a nightmare to live with over the past few months. Worst thing is now that I have a bpf I am still tetchy as hell and can't explain to anyone why as we're keeping it quiet as long as possible. I can be added to the list of bfps but I defo want to stay on the thread as it's cosy here

plummymummy · 19/05/2007 00:22

Sorry to hear about your insect bites pobletsmum Hope the antibiotics shifts the infection. My mum got a terrible bite from a horsefly and her hand swelled up like a boxing glove and was v painful. Any idea what insect it was? I know what you mean about the dilemma of whether to ttc this month. Had the same dilemma last month as needed a vaccination booster, but timed it during my period figuring that was the safest time. I don't know enough about antibiotics to advise but you can probably check on the internet. I'm sure loads of women conceive without knowing whilst taking them and babies born fine. One thing that strikes me though is that if your immune system is trying to fight an infection it will be compromised. That said, I was ill last week and had to take time off work for bed rest and here I am a week later with a bfp

sandcastles · 19/05/2007 01:57

Past O stage now....so into the two week wait.

Af due 30th

fruitful · 19/05/2007 08:43

Thankyou everyone! I keep looking at dd & ds rampaging around and wondering how I'll manage. 24hr change from "oh I want a baby" to "omg what have I done?"

Poblet - ABs don't harm the baby; lots of people have to take them during pg. And a friend was told by the A&E staff not to worry about overdosing her child (she was wondering what do when she'd given a dose and the child was sick afterwards). They said if the child drank the whole bottle the worst that would happen would be diarhoea. How about having as much sex as you feel like and not thinking about ttc? If it happens, it happens.

Awen - pmsl at counting to 60! I have been known to compose shopping lists in my head...

Scorpio - go on test! I'm sure your faint lines were the same as mine and I'm convinced. Mind you I'm also constipated and have spots all over my back which would have convinced me without the test.

Sweetkitty - you better forgive him on Sunday or he'll get suspicious

Plummy - may I join you on vaguely-excited knickerwatch?

Hang in there Sandcastles!

snowgirl · 19/05/2007 14:21

Hi
Is there a June thread yet? Can't find it, if so. Have had broadband problems but all fixed now. Congrats to pregnant people!!
Am CD10 and not testing this month after lots of months testing and nothing happening despite blue line. Spoke to a doc earlier in the week about not conceiving for months and he said just go and have sex twice a week. And so I am.

plummymummy · 19/05/2007 16:19

I know what you mean fruitful - the same thing went through my mind the other day. Shit! What have I done? Only just got my sleep back, now starting over. Already my sleep pattern is disrupted. Falling asleep early evening, then wake up and can't go to sleep at normal bedtime, then waking up early morning. So frustrating. You're welcome to join me on knicker watch. It's not a nice job, but it's gotta be done.

Minnow1 · 19/05/2007 19:19

Hi, can I join you please. I have recently come off the pill (after 15 years) and now ttc. Have had one visit from af, was very light and short. have started charting temps to try and get piece of mind that everything is working OK! First time ttc so a little anxious about it all, trying to remain calm and realistic.
I am cd7 , not sure when to expect next af.

sweetkitty · 19/05/2007 20:39

hi gals had a nice lunch out today and he's promised to buy me an e3

fruitful - I know what you mean what ages are your DC I really want a baby but keep thinking once it's done theres no going back!

snowgirl - I don't know about a TTC June thread I suppose once it's June 1st all us TTC-ers migrate over, my AF isn't due until June anyway, sending you some baby dust for June too

minnow - hi welcome to the thread and congrats on ttc your first, it is quite exciting, I was on the pill for oh well over 10 years before ttc no1 and it took us 9 months I think it takes a while for your body to get up to speed after all those years not ovulating, I think you are supposed to use other contraception for the first 3 months to allow your body to adjust not that I did and I also know people that conceived the first month.

plummy - another day past it's like a mini milestone isn't it?

sandcastles - 2 ww is agonising isn't it, hope it passes quiclky for you

scorpio - any news, how you doing?

hello to anyone else hope you are all having a good weekend

pobletsmum · 19/05/2007 20:43

Welcome Minnow! If there's anything we can do to help you feel less anxious, we'll try. You might have found it already, but in case you haven't, lissie started another thread for us to post our CDs etc. here

snowgirl - here's the June thread . Why not stick around here for a while - there are a few ladies over there by the look of it, but it hasn't really got going yet. When you say you're not testing, do you mean ov testing? This is just a thought, but might it be as well to squeeze in an extra BD or 2 each week on top of the twice that the DR recommended? I've heard advice to try every day from some people, and every other day from some people, but not as little as twice a week. Maybe some of the other ladies have advice about this. Sorry if I'm just interfering.

Thanks so much to all who have reassured me about the antibiotics. I'm still not sure whether I ought to wait for the blood results in case there is something wrong (they're testing for all sorts incl diabetes) - aaaaggghhhhh. I might have to make a quick decision, cos my temp took an unusually early dip today, so there's a slim possibility I could be ov today . I think it's prob just the antibiotics playing havoc with my temps. I don't have egg-white CM which is one of my main ov signs.

sweetkitty - sorry if I'm being really thick, but what's an e3? I'm glad you had a nice lunch. Butter him up ready for a BD fest!

Minnow1 · 19/05/2007 23:58

Thanks for the advice, I am exited! Have been feeling broody for a while now and time feels right

plummymummy · 20/05/2007 00:22

welcome minnow - hope you get bfp soon

plummymummy · 20/05/2007 00:24

I think I got my bfp this month because I started bding much earlier. Have short cycle and reckon I was leaving it too late in the previous months. I also drank grapefruit juice each morning. They were the only things I changed.

sandcastles · 20/05/2007 01:21

Fruitful...hanging in as best possible. Not puting too much into it, as first month TTC. Congratulations on you BFP

Sweetkitty, is terrible....I am already looking for 'signs'
