Lose 10 pounds in 7 weeks - anyone like to join me?

MrsMcEasterBunny · 28/03/2007 15:11

Hello we did a thread a bit like this last year and it worked well so I thought I'd try it again.

I have a wedding to go to in 7 weeks and I'd like to lose 10 pounds. I'm going to follow a low fat diet and do more exercise.

I'll post my losses (and any gains) on a Weds morning.

Come and help me!

ovenREADYhotcrossbuns · 04/04/2007 18:55

coggy - Glad it wasn't hunger keeping you away Big hugs for you this 2ww! Slight hijack, but are you going to have another go at the IUI? Fingers crossed

Eggs4Easter - Well done you!! Even with the 49 point day !! I am only allowed 20 points, and some days it is easy, others it is rock hard... it depends how busy I am I find.
Here's a PLATINUM STAR for you, since I already gave the GOLD one to Cedar and I am not in the habit of taking away

MrsMc - My suggestion is to not bring the biscuit barrel (how 80s does that sound!?) in with your brew - just what you are allowed to have!

Headgirl - PMSL, I am so sorry, I just cut and pasted - Good luck this week... we are lagging a bit, me and you!! But you didn't have a full week, and I am retaining water - so next week, ll do better!!

Hope everyone else is eating light!!

I have a confession of 1 chocolate biscuit and an ice-lolly (wasn't it glorious today!) today - but nice healthy tea!! And I did go for a walk with DH this afternoon!

linjasmom · 04/04/2007 21:04

Ready - I am yearning for some ice-cream!! dh just had one and it has a value of just one point. 3 more days til Easter sunday!
Thanks for the compliment [grinning and blushing-emoticon]!!

MrsMc - good idea with the suggestions, are with you on the water. How about if we want to sin to just go and have some fruit or veggie instead? Works pretty good for me with carrots and apples instead of chocolate and I will try to keep that up next week when I will be allowed candy again.

Cedar - great loss!! any tips?

Yum - LOL at your brain! C-U tomorrow!

Theheadgirl - don't worry, hopefully next week will be better, at least you did not gain!

Eggs4Easter - wow, I am impressed and almost . Glad for you!!

coggy - where are you?

Hope I did not forget anyone, if so please forgive me. Good luck for the next week to everyone.
P.S.: What's a biscuit barrel?

coggy · 04/04/2007 22:01

Bugger, bugger, bugger........stayed the same.
My scales said that I'd lost so I went all smug-like!!!!
I kept asking the weighing lady if she was sure!!!
How bad is that???!!!!

Three 3-mile runs, an exercise DVD and over 10,000 steps everyday on my pedometer.....STUFF THAT!!!!

Mind you....I did have an Easter egg, Indian take-away, lots of wine on several nights, chicken burger, bag of crisps.........
Maybe I wasn't quite as well behaved as I thought!!!

coggy · 04/04/2007 22:03

Ready.....IUI next month....probably start injections next week sometime when AF decides to rear her ugly head.
Thanks for asking.
X

yum03creameggs · 05/04/2007 09:30

Lost 1lb - yippy!

cedar12 · 05/04/2007 09:35

Well done everyone. I think we are going to need to be really with this weekend with all the chocolate about. I have banned anyone from buying me any easter eggs. My tip is to do a little bit of exercise every day I have been going for a 20 min jog every night that I am not working.
I hope I dont lapse I have come down with a horrid cold and dont feel like doing any thing at the moment. Dd also got a cold so we are curl up on the sofa in a minute and watch a film in are pjs

ovenREADYhotcrossbuns · 05/04/2007 12:22

Hello everyone!! Hope you are all being good

Linjasmom - Ice cream for only 1 point!! Count me in
See this Biscuit Barrel - It's not the one I have, but just to give you an idea of what I meant

Coggy - You stuck like me!! But you sound like you have been doing my share of exercise Keep it going
PMSL at you asking the weighing lady if she was sure
Fingers firmly crossed for you with the IUI. One of my friends has said that if you have any questions, she'll answer anything

Well done Yum!!

Cedar - Sorry you have a cold, and DD. Take it easy! DH and I have got a Green & Blacks Easter Egg to share this weekend... so I will make sure he has most of it!

cedar12 · 05/04/2007 13:04

ohh Green and blacks chocolate I am drooling.

theheadgirl · 05/04/2007 13:08

I am doing well with food over last few days, I've been following a portion control diet I got from zest magazine a few months ago, so we'll see if its any good on wednesday
linjasmom I'm so impressed with your English, I don't think you need to know what a biscuit barrel is, it won't help your quest to lose 10lb
cedar impressed with the 20mins exercise everyday - I've read that Halle Berry exercises for 20 mins everyday and gets her heart rate above 170bpm for the whole session. So thats where I've been going wrong. I will start tonight, and hope to soon look like Halle's twin

linjasmom · 05/04/2007 20:57

Ready - thanks for the link! I guess that's what I would call a cookie jar (with my American English ). The ice-cream is vanilla with multivit-coating. Yummy!

theheadgirl - LOL at your post, you are probably right. My fil is a baker and his cookies are soooooooo yummy!! Thanks for the compliment. As I said, I really enjoy this and it helps me to keep up. I am raising my dd bilingually (hope this does not sound conceited with me being German iykwim ) so it is really important to me .

MrsMc - everything oK with you? Did your business trip go alright even without the pool?

coggy - sorry you're stuck, hope next week will be better despite all the Easter yummies.... Have fingers and toes and everything crossed for you!!

yum - well done!

cedar - hope you get well soon! I wish I could say the same about me concerning exercise . Could you please kick my bu**?

Hope I did not forget anyone. Have a nice evening!!

PinkElephant · 06/04/2007 12:29

Hi all,
Thanks for the link Ovenready - how are you honey? thanks for the well wishing for the next month
Now diets.... what diets are you all doing? I've been trying a low carb diet for the last 2 & 1/2wks only because I'm sure its the rice, pasta and bread which is piling on the pounds and inches for me. It also gives me stomach cramps and bloatedness but I love them!! I cut these out completely in the first 10days and lots 7lbs instantly, now I'm getting a bit stuck what to eat so am having the odd wholemeal pita bread added in here and there and have now gained 3lbs in the last 3 days. Just a thought but do you find you put on any weight with AF? Really hoping this is the cause of the additional 3lbs!! Now need to increase the exercise a bit more, am only managing to get out for the odd run and a few sit ups !! Umph
Hi Cedar - how are you sweetie? How do you manage with daily runs??

ovenREADYhotcrossbuns · 06/04/2007 12:48

Linjasmom - Yeah, a cookie jar - They are the bane of my life, well, my waistline anyhow!! So now I just bring 1 or 2 in for me, and 4/5 for DH
Your FIL is a baker?? OMG - talk about temptation!

PinkElephant - I personally think that cutting out carbs is a bad idea - the results you get might well be good, at first - but I think it's important to think long-term, and no-one can cut out carbs forever. I do weightwatchers (don't go to the meetings - just follow the points system) and obviously carbs are more points, so I have less of them - but carbs are an essential food group. Especially when ttc, you need a balanced diet. Sorry, for preaching, but things like the atkins diet really worry me!
I find I put on a couple of lbs around my period, so that could explain why you have gained a bit. Welcome aboard, flower... sorry if I sound like a dragon

linjasmom · 06/04/2007 13:11

PinkElephant - I agree with Ready. I am doing WW at home right now as well and I just wanted to share the news with everybody anyway: after our weigh-in on wednesday and doing lots of walking I have lost another kilo (excited)!! A little more than 2 lbs, I am over the moon. Makes me feel very good about having some choc on sunday ! But back to WW. I am not going to the meetings either but I am convinced that this is the right kind of diet for me as it is well balanced and you can eat whatever you want - as long as it is not too much . I've started about 4 weeks ago after 6 days of fastting and have lost about a stone. Also, everybody I know who has really lost weight (slowly) and kept it off has done it with WW. Am putting on a bit during af as well and always feel bloated, so I guess that's it.

Ready - oh yes! His cookies are yummy but his cakes.... no words to describe them!

I wish you all a happy Easter and many many eggs (well not too many so we will not put on too much ). C-U!

PinkElephant · 06/04/2007 13:39

Linjasmom and Ovenready - thank you for your concerns about my strange diet, its nice to know you're worrying for me, but really it's fine. All I've done is limit my carb intake which is usually: cereal/porridge at breakfast, sandwich at lunctime and a rice/pasta dish in the evening. You'll be please to hear I am still eating carbs but having them less often rather than at every meal, so I'm having wholemeal pitta bread, potatoes and couscous etc. All I've done is get rid of the proceesed carbs which are bad for you. I think I may have a slight intolerance to carbs/wheat as I get gripes and bloating if eat too many so I've cut them out for this reason and generally feel much better, brighter and not as sluggish. Do not worry....I couldn't cut out carbs completely otherwise I would have no energy. It will be a whole different story when I'm PG and I'm sure I will need carbs all the time for energy, but I'll cross that bridge if it ever happens

MrsMcEasterBunny · 06/04/2007 15:47

Afternoon ladies Happy Easter to you all!

There are 14 of us on here ? now 15 with PinkElephant . Most of us have survived week 1 . This week between the 10 of us who posted, we lost the total of 7 ½ pounds ? shall we aim for 10 next week?!

Our slinky of the week is iwillbepg in first place followed by Cedar in 2nd ! Fantastic!

4 no posts ? Mumto3girls? Scotia? Kitty? Roskva?

Well done to everyone!

I like your suggestions Eggs4eatser!

I liked yours too OvenReady ours is a wooden biscuit barrel! I gave up biscuits for Lent and other than the 2 choc digestives I had when I found out I?d MC, I?ve stuck to it. None in the house now!

Linjasmom ? you must be a saint, if I want something naughty but nice, fruit and veggies just won?t hit the spot but I?ll try!

Coggy ? it?s great to have you back!

Welcome Pinkelephant

Hello to everyone else too!

Here?s the list of helpful suggestions so far:

? Mine is drink at least 2 litres of water a day if we can
? don?t put off doing today what you should do tomorrow.
? don?t let the choccy bars tempt you, don?t think to yourself that one won?t hurt and i'll start again tomorrow.
? Do not bring the biscuit barrel in with your brew - just what you are allowed to have
? How about if we want to sin to just go and have some fruit or veggie instead?

linjasmom · 06/04/2007 19:50

MrsMc - LOL at the saint. Wish I were. I've tried that these past weeks during lent and WW but hope I will be able to keep it up after easter. I got some cereal bars with apple that just count 2 points (very yummy), so that's something I could allow myself to have if I really yearn for a goody. And of course some choc or ice-cream, won't do without!!

Will be off now to a lazy evening on the sofa. Bye!

theheadgirl · 06/04/2007 20:32

Happy easter ladies!
My tipple of choice has changed from wine (150 cals-ish) to gin and slimline tonic (50 cals) But I don't have 3 of them to make up for it.
Whilst on a "weight" theme, check out my profile. DD3 saw her paediatrician yesterday and now weighs 17.5 kg. The child never stops eating, and has just walked up to me to sign "more"! Is there any wonder I'm putting weight on??

coggy · 07/04/2007 18:35

MrsMc...........

Ready and linjasmom.....I'm not so worried about staying the same now last Weds. My friend has been staying with me and I have put on 3lb in TWO days!!!!!!

Fish and chips the first night and chinese the next!!!!!

AF imminent....can I blame it on that instead??????

Problem is.....now I feel like scoffing my Easter eggs down in one.....I NEED CHOCOLATE!!!!!!!!

about your baker FIL linjasmom.

cedar12 · 08/04/2007 08:14

Hello everyone dont know if I will be getting the gold star next week. I have had a few to many treat half a box of chocs last night! but I was quite good only one glass of wine.
Hello pink elephant, Those naughty carbs bloat me to. But I love cakes and things like crumpets with lots of butter. I changed to whole wheat pasta etc and try to cut down a bit and do feel better for it.
Also havent managed so much exercise feeling really tired with my cold and dd waking up at least once or twice a night because shes all bunged up as well. Got to go to work this afternoon so might try and go for a quick jog this morning.

ovenREADYhotcrossbuns · 08/04/2007 14:31

Happy Easter everybody!!

PinkE - Phew, I misunderstood, sorry. I was worried about you being on an Atkins diet!! Cutting out the processed carbs is good - well done you!

Cedar - I hope you are feeling better soon. Remember don't push yourself when poorly, it takes longer to get better if you do!! You need to get well, then go for it

MrsMc - Great roundup I think we should definitely aim for 10lbs between us all!! I hope I can pull me weight this week!
Oh, I had a couple of glasses of Rosé last night - they were good

Coggy - You can blame AF, and your friend But you should weigh yourself midway through, cos you could lose it by Wednesday

I had a 1/3 of a Green & Blacks Easter Egg, it was de-lish! Also had pizza for dinner - But been really good so far today, the rest of the egg is being ignored. And for lunch I made home-made cauliflower soup! It was yummy.

Hope everyone is having a great weekend

MrsMcEasterBunny · 08/04/2007 18:47

Happy Easter everyone!

Linjasmom ? bet you are enjoying some ice cream today! I had my first biscuit they?re overrated!

Theheadgirl ? I loved your profile. Your girls are gorgeous and the little one looks like she?d give a great cuddle too It can?t be easy being a lone Mum with 3 girls. You are a girl after my own heart, especially the reading, buying expensive cosmetics and shoes and drinking ice cold G & T (have one in front of me actually! )

Hey Coggy ? fingers crossed for you hon. Sounds like you are having fun with your friend. I?m sure it?s a much needed distraction. I?ve had ½ choc egg today, it was yuuummmmmmmmmyyy!

Cedar ? hope you feel much better soon. Still haven?t been for my first run!

OvenReady ? glad you liked your Rose! (keyboard won?t do accents!)

Hello everybody!
I am sitting on the sofa, feeling full. We had a really nice Easter sunday and I ate much, hopefully not too much. It was very yummy though. We had a very nice Easter bbq and I have to confess I ate 3 bite-size choc eggs and two half pieces (?) of cake. Don't even want my ice-cream any more today, maybe tomorrow. I hope you all had a great day and have a good one tomorrow. Talk to you later. Bye!!

coggy · 09/04/2007 15:25

Have totally written this week off and feel like I may want to avoid my weigh-in but I know that I mustn't!!!!!

It will get better as I am starting my IUI jabs again tonight and that gives me good enough reason to stop drinking.......a little that I need a good reason!!!
That doesn't sound too good does it??!
So.....a really bad week this week and then angelic old Cogster for the next three weeks I think.

Hope everyone is having a beautifully sunny Easter weekend.
X

ovenREADYhotcrossbuns · 09/04/2007 15:36

OOooooooh. Fingers and toes and anything else I can find, firmly crossed for you Coggy - I soooo hope it works out for you.

theheadgirl · 09/04/2007 21:16

Hi everyone,
Well thats easter over, I've been reasonably good, and only had a small-ish amount of chocolate. I'm hopeful I've LOST weight this week
Coggy good luck with the IUI - I'm an ex-gynae nurse and remember looking after people having this procedure. Work in a diff. area now though
Ready Cauliflower soup sounds good, I love making soups. They fill you up, but are still virtuous! The current favourtie in headgirl house is carrot and orange.
