Lose 10 pounds in 7 weeks - anyone like to join me?

MrsMcEasterBunny · 28/03/2007 15:11

Hello we did a thread a bit like this last year and it worked well so I thought I'd try it again.

I have a wedding to go to in 7 weeks and I'd like to lose 10 pounds. I'm going to follow a low fat diet and do more exercise.

I'll post my losses (and any gains) on a Weds morning.

Come and help me!

Ok... yesterday's sin confession was 5 mini-eggs with an ovaltine at bed-time but I was good all day!

Re: Exercise, I have davina's workout dvd's (hard!) and the Lilia salsa dvd (which is fun, but hard work) - but I have been naughty and not done either for 2 weeks! But I have walked 3 times this week, so I think that counts!

Yum - My WW book says regular hot choc is 2 points, so not the worst treat you could have had.

Roskva You have done so well haven't you!! I really didn't do so good on our thread - I must be good, I must be good

Eclipse - I must be odd, cos youtr ryvita and houmous lunch sounded lovely

Iwillbe - Did you joing WW online?

Linjasmum - 7 weeks is the goal for 10 lbs, so don't be putting pressure on yourself to lose more than that in that time frame!! Steady weight loss is more likely to stay off

Coggy - Thanks for the info on the milk, I am just going to stick with what I know and include my skimmed milk as points.

How's everyone else doing?

MrsMcEasterBunny · 30/03/2007 16:00

Welcome Niceglasses, nice name!

Don?t worry linjasmom ? the first 10 pounds is only the start for me! I am the opposite of you, I too have a recognizable waist though not according to most of my waistbands I?m a size 14 above waist and a 12/14 below the waistline these days, I was always 12/14 on top and 10 on the bottom before! Your English is pretty damn perfect but we will help you! I was watching an episode a night of Sex in the City through from Vol 1 on my cross trainer but didn?t get very far . Think I?ll start it again, how I miss Carrie and the girls!

Iwillbe ? me too, hence the midweek choice! Well done, that diet sounds like a good kick start. Lots of exercise going on with you, I?m not sure what I?ll commit to yet, will work it out over the weekend. Going for my first run on Sunday!

Welcome Roskva ? you are doing so well! help to motivate us!

Eclipse! Sounds like you are getting down to it!

Yum03 ? house building?s pretty energetic!

Ovenready ? your penance for those mini eggs and ovaltine is to do 30 sit ups tomorrow! What I want to know is, were there only 5 in the packet? Did you show self restraint and leave some untouched? Did you share them with DH? Or are you lying to us?

Davina?s workout isn?t hard (well, the boxing one is ? is it the same trilogy?)

Forgive me brethren, I too have sinned: I had a pain au chocolate at the airport at 6am (very hungry had been up since 4.30) and a packet of Walkers salt & vinegar crisps at 10.30. No fruit so far today.

OP posts:
ovenREADYhotcrossbuns · 30/03/2007 16:16

MrsMcEasterBunny - If you think that Davina's workout is not hard then you are not doing it properly The Power of 3 is the first DVD, and it is rock hard, I swear!! ... The first time I did it (a couple of years back) I couldn't even sit down without yelping in pain!! A friend laughed at me so much and so I lent her the DVD and she was so apologetic afterwards ! The newest one with the boxing, is not as hard, no. But I only do the boxing part, are the other 2 sections easier then?

I watch Sex and the City on ParamountTV in sky!! I miss it too. I so hope they are going to make the film!!

Well... the mini eggs were in DH's possession, and he let me have 5!! I blame him, cos I asked for 4! If the bag had been in my hand, I might not have been quite so restrained

mumto3girls · 30/03/2007 20:13

Can anyone reommend a dvd fo me, one that I won't give up co 'm hopeless at following ste ruines/danc steps...?

linjasmom · 30/03/2007 21:00

MrsMc Thank you!! Am looking forward to these next weeks!
Iwillbe Can you tell me some more about that 3 day diet or rather the food that burns fat? Might not be a bad thing to do in between if you can give me instructions. And maybe you have some ww-secrets to share? I get some from a friend who goes to the meetings every now and then (can't think of any atm of course ), so maybe we can post them?

Hey y'all (here comes the Texan): Maybe someone is interested in sharing some good-and-fast-and-healthy-and-low-in-points-recipes here? If not, that's oK, we could always do it on another thread.

Here are my weaknesses:
chocolate (ooooooh), Haribo (a certain type that doesn't even taste SUPER, but once you start you can't stop) and ice-cream. Haven't had any of those for the past five weeks, though. But on Easter sunday.....
Less of: the above even after lent
More: exercise!!
That's what I will try to do now.
My sin today: a self-baked apple-bun (yum!)

Eggs4EasterFertilizedPlz · 30/03/2007 21:57

hellloooo

first run on sunday mrsmc thats brave! i dont do running im afraid i looklike a right wolly - i do the whole arm swinging thing - NOT ATTRACTIVE!

READY - i didnt join ww online ijust called them to order the book. i am actually a good weight for my height but to me i am not so not being big headed i couldnt face joining weight watchers or going to meetings because i would feel a bit of a fraud. is that lilia dvd any good i really want to get that but i know it will only end up in my dvd cupboard after a few weeks.

linjasmum HIYA!!

here is the diet we did.

Day 1
breakfast - 1/2 grapefruit 1 slice toast 2 tsp peanut butter black coffee/tea

lunch - 4oz tuna, 1 slice toast, black coffee/tea

dinner - 2 slices cold meat, string beans, 4oz beatroot, 1 apple, 4oz ice cream

Day 2
breakfast - 1 egg, 1 slice toast, 1/2 banana, black coffee/tea

lunch - 4oz cottage cheese, 5 ritz crackers, black coffee/tea

dinner - 2 canned hotdogs, 4 oz brocolli, 2oz carrots, 1/2 banana 4oz ice cream

Day 3
breakfast- 5 ritz crackers, 1 slice cheese, 1 apple, black coffee/tea

lunch - 1 hard boiled egg, 1 slice toast, black coffee/tea

dinner - 4oz tuna, 4oz beetroot, 4oz cauliflower, 1 slice melon, 4 oz icecream black coffee/tea

i adapted a few of these for lunch i changed the tuna and egg on toast for an egg/tuna mayo sandwich with one slice of bread but thats pretty much it what we did for 3 days. it does work and i have managed to keep the weight off.

let me know what you think

Eggs4EasterFertilizedPlz · 30/03/2007 21:57

oh im iwillbepgbydec2007 by the way

linjasmom · 30/03/2007 22:28

Eggs4Easter Thank you! Really sounds great, even ice-cream is allowed !!
That is something I could do after Easter, want to do something before I go on vacation for a week at the end of April. That does sound manageable. I did some remedial feasting for detoxing and it worked great, but I don't know if I am up to not eating at all again so soon (maybe in May?) Sounds drastic, I know , but I felt SOOOOO good (still do!). I will def let you know after I've tried it. Phew, I am really tired now, so I'll be off until tomorrow! Bye....

theheadgirl · 30/03/2007 23:18

Hi everyone, a poor first day for me, I blame my sister who encouraged the toasted cheese sandwich in M and S cafe....
But still, tomorrow is another day, I am planning to do an exercise DVD, avoid eating crap, and try to get 5 fruit and veg eaten. Will post to tell you of my success I hope!

eclipse · 30/03/2007 23:55

Just in from a night out with a girlfriend and a girl not-friend and had a really great night. After 3 bottles of wine between us the not-friend is now new-best-friend. Real Sex and the City night but, reality hits, all the joie de vivre meant I could eat tiramisu without it mattering. In the same way eating standing up, eating really quickly etc. doesn't count. So, Ready, a good slap across both cheeks should do it.
Maybe a good long run in the morning will undo it all. Anyone else?
By the way, I have never had the willpower for exercise videos, exercise bikes, classes or any of that stuff.
MrsMc, how far are you planning to go and are you doing it alone? If you're not a runner, I would seriously recommend mixing running and walking, even a minute of each for ten minutes and work up from there. It's bearable but does count as hard-core exercise.

cedar12 · 31/03/2007 15:22

I was the christmas thread and I really need a good kick up the bum. I am afraid I have only lost about 3 1/2 lbs since chistmas. Havent weighed my self for a while I think I am about 11st 5 and I am 57.
I like running but like my food more cakes and pudding are my weakness.
Af just arrived so all bloated at the moment so will join you all on monday when I have finished the nice cheese in the fridge. My mums just been to france so I couldnt really say no, I will have to join you at cheeseaholics ready
Hello Roskva I think you deserve the gold star out of us christmas lot 1/2 stone well done.

MrsMcEasterBunny · 31/03/2007 20:32

Ready ? the Davina DVD I have is 3 30 min work outs with boxing in the middle.

Mumto3girls ? I have no co-ordination so find the Davina one good as I can concentrate on getting out of puff, not on the steps. I used to love Cher Fitness and Elle Macphersons?s work outs too ? bit out of date now!

Linjasmom ? recipe sharing sounds good to me! Know what you mean about the Haribos at least the apple had fruit in it!

Love the name eggsforeaster I?m a lousy runner, I expect to only get to the top of the road and by then I will have been asked a few times what I?d lost but it?s worth the effort! Suspect the Lilia DVD has far more co-ordination in it than I can manage! Just sold my Angela fro Holby one as the hip-hop section really did make me look like there was something seriously wrong!

Sounds like a good plan theheadgirl!

Thanks for the running tips Eclipse glad you had a good night, sounds like the tiramisu was probably worth it!

Cedar ? welcome! I?ve put on 5 pounds since Christmas

Ok, confession time, I had friends round for lunch, forgot about the diet, mixed cream through the sauce for the pork and had apple crumble for pud not going to be eating again today though, does that count?

Keep it up everyone - today i've done well with the food, but, apart from buying myself a hoola hoop from toysrus, i've done no exercise Off to practice now!

linjasmom · 31/03/2007 22:11

MrsMc - at least it was apple crumble and apples have no points . I had a tiny piece of bitter chocolate just now because I figured that 11:00 pm on saturday can count as sunday.... .
Of course I did remedial fasting, not feasting, lol. Though feasting might be nice for a change!!
Eggs4Easter - does it matter which kind of ice-cream?
Well, I will be out with the girls tomorrow, so I guess I can already confess today that I will probably have pizza or pasta tomorrow ....
OK, here is a recipe for a meal with 5 - 6 points per serving (depending on how much cheese you take )

Potato - Veggie - Pizza (4 servings)

1 kg boiled potatoes
120 g sour cream
2 tbs flour
4 eggs
1 tbs chives
1 tbs minced parsley
salt and pepper
4 tbs tomato paste
4 tbs mustard
2 bell peppers, red and yellow
200 g mushrooms
1 bunch of green onions
100 g corn
160 g grated cheese
thyme
oregano

Grate potatoes and mix with 90 g sour cream, flour, eggs, chives and parsley. Add salt, pepper, thyme and oregano to taste. Spread on baking sheet and bake in preheated oven at 200°C for about 20 min. Mix tomato paste, mustard and leftover sour cream, add thyme and oregano to taste and spread on crust. Add veggies and cheese, bake for another 20 minutes. Enjoy with a 0 point salad!!

Eggs4EasterFertilizedPlz · 01/04/2007 10:45

oh dear pmsl @ your somthing wrong remark with the hip hop dancing! that really did make me laugh out loud and get a weird look from dp! i can just imagine it...

linjasmom - i just used ordinary vanilla ice-cream. i adapted the recipe a tiny bit so i guess just choose what you want but obviously ben and jerrys choc brownie is out of the quetion

well i have sinned sinned and sinned this wkend!

friday - half a pizza with pineapple, onion, sweetcorn. cheesy garlic bread sticks.

saturday - chips and curry sauce, 3 creme eggs and large consumption of lager

today - i shall be indulging in home made steak pies, creamy mash and veg.

back on the wagon tomorrow

ovenREADYhotcrossbuns · 01/04/2007 11:06

Confessions: Friday I had 5 more mini eggs, and 2 choclate biscuits And I didn't do my penance of sit ups...
Yesterday I didn't really eat any meals - just grazed on bits all day - nothing really naughty, but grazing is always a bad way to be! I did get 5 pieces of fruit in though

MrsMc - Davina has 2 DVDs, and I promise you, the first one is rock hard! I haven't done it in so long, I just do the 30 minute boxing routine on her new DVD, the one you mention, which is good fun and not as hard.

Eclipse - I can't bring myself to slap your cheeks As I have not been sinless.

Eggs4Easter - Yes, the Lilia workout is good fun, but she is not the best teacher, and I had to pause and rewind so much to get the hang of the steps. I enjoy doing it though

Linjasmom - Good idea with the recipe sharing... I will have to dig some out

Headgirl - I wonder if walking around toysrus is classed as light exercise?

Morning everyone else!! Hope you are all doing well??

Planning to do some more gardening today - and eat very very light.

Eggs4EasterFertilizedPlz · 01/04/2007 11:10

i think i may go out and buy it tomorrow when my frantic regime starts! i am going to have quite a few pounds to shift b4 wednesday after thins wkends binge.
i used to do salsa dancing so im hoping imnot going to be too bad at it.

i am probably setting myself up for failure here....

good luck on your marathon run mrsmcjnr - remember doing cross country at school. i came last and we had to sign a bit of paper at the finishing line - i couldnt even pick up the pen!!!

linjasmom · 01/04/2007 22:38

Hello everybody,

I am back from my girl's-night-out and it was fab. I was nice today and just had a mini veggie pizza (not much cheese and thin crust) plus a salad and did not have any chocolate/candy today. Can you see my halo?
Then went on to see the the movie with Hugh Grant and Drew Barrymore (don't know the English title). [drooling-all-over-HG-emoticon ].
Have to confess that I did not do any exercise today except walk to playground with dd and dh which doesn't really count. Halo just faded.... Wish you all a good start into the new week! XX

yum03creameggs · 02/04/2007 08:58

I was not TOO naughty at the weekend, but did go to a wedding, so big meal there, but also danced like crazy afterwards, so perhaps I made up for it burning calories later. I am not doing too well on eating enough fruit and veg, so perhaps my aim this week will be to ensure that I get my 5 fruit/veg each day.

Linjamum- you did well eating sensibly on a girls night out -well done!

Eggs4easter - have you got the video yet? I did salsa (dancing not the edible kind!) at the wedding this weekend, dh and I love it.

back later

MrsMcEasterBunny · 02/04/2007 10:36

Hello all, no running yesterday as DH and I went for a long walk instead. Will make my first attempt some day very soon! I have made my packed lunch today and have only fruit snacks so at least the day has started well. Had my usual porridge with sultanas for breakfast.

Theheadgirl ? cool love hula hoops, what a great idea!

Linjasmom ? apples have points on my diet unless they fall within my daily fruit allowance that said, fruit is good so not that bothered about that. Drank a lot this weekend though so not so happy with that Dry week this week. Thanks for the recipe! Glad you had a good girls? night out Your English really is great you?d never know that it wasn?t your first language ? just one thing you said that was not quite right, you said ?I was nice today and just had a mini veggie pizza? ?nice? is not really the right word here as what you mean is that you were a good girl! ?nice? would mean you were being kind whereas ?good? would mean you were being a successful dieter! Hope that makes sense and helps you! I loved that film by the way, a real feel good movie; think it was called ?Music and Lyrics? here!

Eggs4easter ? honestly, the hip hop was not for me! Love the sound of your steak pies, YUM! Be a good girl today now!

Ready ? not sure the sit ups are a good idea for you at the mo anyway, just in case. 20 step ups for you instead! Have fun in the garden I have a pink face from yesterday in the garden

Yum03 ? sounds like you had lots of fun at the wedding

Hi all. I'll be surprised if Ive lost any weight this week, but if I haven't I won't be put off!! Doing well with 5 fruit and veg each day, but still eating unhealthy snacks. And I've used my stepper today (I had to drag it out from under the bed, and remove a thick layer of dust!) along with a 30 minute walk. Hopefully it all counts

theheadgirl · 02/04/2007 20:11

P.s. like the recipe idea Linjasmom, I will try to think of some to share myself.

linjasmom · 02/04/2007 20:37

Thanks, MrsMc ! I was a good girl again today (you are absolutely right, it is the same combination in German even, but I guess I just didn't think or whatever, so thanks for telling me!).
I forgot to have breakfast this morning so I just had two meals today, but did not eat any fruit today either, so will probably much an apple in a little while to feel like a saint .
Oh, I just loved the movie, I will have to get it on DVD so I can watch it in English (the original version is usually much better imho, but I like to watch English anyway to improve/keep up my vocabulary! I love Notting Hill btw, pmsl everytime I watch it....). Will also get the soundtrack, felt really young again listening to all that 80s pop music.... (am 32 btw). Talk to y'all later!

cedar12 · 03/04/2007 08:42

Right I will be joining you for the weigh in tomorrow. Went for jog Sunday and Monday about 20 mins each night going to do the same tonight.
Bought some of those skinny cow smoothie lollies yesterday they are lovely only 80 ish calories.
Off to paultons park which is a theme park near us today, I Will try and resist any treats I promise
Good luck for the weigh in every one.
