Morning. Hope you all had a good weekend.

Think i'm nearing OV as all the biological signs are there (IYKWIM). Hopefully OV sticks will show tonight.

My nose is constantly running at the moment. Do you think a day nurse will interfere with things or not. Silly question but don't want to take any chances.

miabl2 · 12/03/2007 11:30

Hello all,

I've been hovering for a while and thought I would join you if that's okay. Trying to conceive no 2. DS now 2, have been trying for 6 months with no luck. Got pregnant by accident the first time so starting to get a bit pannicky at the length of time its taking this time! Can someone please explain all the jargon cause I have no idea what it all means? AF first day of period isn't it? but not sure about anything else.

FurryFox · 12/03/2007 12:14

Hi miabl2. Hope things happen for you soon and good luck.

AF is period. CD is what cycle day you are on. I am CD10 today. At the top of the page next to where it says 'useful stuff' it says acronym list. This has all the abbreviations that mumsnetters use. I'm sure you'll get used to all the jargon soon

Lexi - Sorry you have such a rotton cold at the moment, hope it goes away soon. Not sure if taking anything could affect or not

insy - Bike ride sounds fab with DS on the back

Hi to everyone else, hope you're all ok. CD10 for me and don't want to risk missing my time so let the fun start to tonight

miabl2 · 12/03/2007 12:45

So when would CD1 be, the first day of your period? Also is CD10 around about when your best time to conceive would be. Sorry for all the questions I did say I was a bit lost!!!

FurryFox · 12/03/2007 12:57

CD1 will be the first day of your AF (period). If you have a regular 28 day cycle then I think you are supposed to (but by no means this isn't always the case) ovulate around CD14 - which is obviously the middle of your cycle.

My last two AFs have been 38 days long so I'm not really sure when I OV (ovulate) anymore

Websites such as Babycentre and Baby World can calculate your most fertile days for you but still not sure how accurate they really are as I think it depends on the person

I'm not that clued up myself to be honest but have read quite a bit and have learnt a lot from Mumsnet over the past few months, however I am by no means any sort of expert Feel free to ask questions though and if I can help I will and there are plenty of others round here that can help too

Lexie100 · 12/03/2007 13:30

Hi there miabl2. Have you been traking when your AF's are? Is so, this is a good help. If your cycle is regular then it makes predicting ovulation a little easier. If your cycle is all over the place, like mine, then you need to workout your most fertile time. If you scroll down i have given a calculation which will give you your fertile window. Then it is suggested to BD every other day .

As a general rule, your cycle is split into 2; Pre ovulation and post ovulation. Your length of Pre ovulation can fluctuate by many days but post ovulation is generally between 10 and 14 days. However, for one individual it is usually the same amount of days(mine is about 12 days).

Hope this is of help. Have a google and you'll soon be up to speed.

FurryFox · 12/03/2007 13:36

Lexi knows loads more than me I said I wasn't an expert

jhyesmum · 12/03/2007 13:37

Thanks for all the support girls! It means so much.

Day off work today as I worked Saturday, so i thought i'd indulge in a bit of MN!!

Bloody lovely weather!

Lexie100 · 12/03/2007 13:40

I spent the morning in the garden with DD. She is now sleeping . So loads of time to read on web.

Don't really know much just read loads of stuff. Hopefully one day it will pay off!!!!!

FurryFox · 12/03/2007 13:50

The weather is lovely Enjoy your day off yesmum. How are you?

buttercupbabe · 12/03/2007 13:59

Afternoon all!
Welcome miabl2.
Sounds like there are lots of us getting jiggy at the moment - spring must be in the air! I finally got a positive on the ov sticks last night!
Lexie -I'm sure you'll get a positive too if those signs are there. Not really sure about medications and conception. My friend who is 13 wks pg had flu last week and was told it was ok to take paracetemol.
Insy - you sound very healthy - bike rides and swimming - making me feel lazy!
Hope everyones well.

jhyesmum · 12/03/2007 14:12

Hi Furry, feeling ok thanks. Just want Thursday here - although i'm dreading it! How are you?? Sorry about AF.

jhyesmum · 12/03/2007 14:43

Good girl!

Now going to pick DS up from school.

miabl2 · 12/03/2007 15:40

Thanks for the welcome. I have a clockwork cycle of 27 days so I will at least hopefully be able to work out fertile time and get busy!!!

Good luck to everyone, spring is def in the air even up in bonny scotland.

jhyesmum · 12/03/2007 15:51

oooooh miabl2, i wish i had a 27 day cycle like you!

Lovely to have you with us!!

I agree about the weather. I love spring. I was born in spring and married in spring!

insywinsyspider · 12/03/2007 22:14

hello miabl2 - also of your 27 day cycle hopefully you'll be really successful in working out when you ovulate

buttercup - tbh feeling v tired now - played hockey on sat as well last time i got pg i was doing loads of sport and cycling 8 miles to work, think it really helped me stress relieve - and release all those happy hormones! also can eat my body weight in chocolate and feel healthy at same time good news on +ve opk!

jhyesmum - hope thursday comes quickly for you x

furry - hope you're having a good evening

lexie - no advice about night nurse - sorry but good to hear all positive signs, did you get a +ve opk?

Lexie100 · 13/03/2007 11:26

No positive on OV stivks (5 in pack and last one tonight). Hope tonights is a BFP. Will keep BD every other night till the weekend just to make sure .

Getting stressed about it all now. Will try to think of other things but find these last few weeks the hardest to thing of anything but.

buttercupbabe · 13/03/2007 13:44

Lexie I had that last month - ran out of sticks. This month I had 20 of the blighters just to make sure! I ended up using 8. I've since spoken to people who conceieved yet had no positive sticks. Good luck with the bd. I'm coming to the end of that for another month.
How's everyone else? Busy from the sounds of it!

jhyesmum · 13/03/2007 17:43

I think i might be OVing at the mo. I've never really noticed before. Probably imagining it!

Insy - i used to play hockey. Love it. Used to play for the County. Would really love to start again but I work every other weekend.

I've got a stinking cold. Bloody hell. Means I can't go and see me mummy.

Who's up for a large glass of red tonight? 12% vol+!!!!!!!!!!!

Lexie100 · 13/03/2007 19:56

BFN on the ov sticks so not sure what is happening. Have had usual period type pain today and backache which is usually a sign.

Really tired today so off for coffee and biscuits (need the energy for BD ).

insywinsyspider · 13/03/2007 20:45

lexie - sounds really frustrating, if you wanted to try next month get a load of cheaper opk's off ebay - i got 30 this month for about £10. symptoms sound positive - go for it just in case!

jhyesmum - sorry to hear about cold hockey is ace, played up to 5mo pg but only went back after xmas, i can't make training so only play league games which is really cheeky but they don't seem to mind

glass of red would be lovely - what are you drinking?

jhyesmum · 14/03/2007 16:44

Sorry missed you last night! Might start the malibu tonight. Such an 80's girl!

How are we all doing. We're a bit thin on the ground at the mo. Must be lots of BD happening and we're too knackard to log on!!

Lexie100 · 14/03/2007 16:49

jhyesmum - will be thinking of you tomorrow.

Nothing else to report really. Hope everyone else os doing ok.

miabl2 · 14/03/2007 16:50

I'm around, though not for much longer as I'm about to leave work.

I am knackered but its not all the BDing, its just the usual cold which I've had now for 6 weeks!!!!

You're right though everyone has gone very quiet at the mo.
