Glad you're booked in Cartoon! Were you active on the thread a few years ago? Your name sounds familiar! Do keep us updated. Honestly this journey is so unpredictable I don't blame you for wanting to have treatment 'just in case'- at least you can have some peace of mind by doing something!

Snoopysimaginaryfriend · 25/04/2016 20:59

Well done cartoon, you got in there quickly! I'm afraid I haven't been active on these threads long enough to know any second babies apart from freelancegirls.

Feel free to join us if you'd like.

cartoontrickster · 26/04/2016 05:50

Yes drttc I may have been cartoonface back then! I've had a quick look through the thread and don't really recognize many names so hopefully that means they all had their babies too.

karryk · 26/04/2016 06:56

Great news, Cartoon :)

Temperature dipped this morning plus the spotting continues so I'm counting myself out this month. I think it's one of those cycles where something tried to happen but it didn't work out. Had a good cry in the evening and feel much better this morning. Back to the drawing board!

It's my first wedding anniversary next week plus a big family wedding so I'm going to focus on having some fun and dodge any nosey aunties!!

A lovely week to all x

Seekingmiracles · 26/04/2016 09:46

Sorry Billy and Karry SadSad it sucks so much. Sending you both lots of love and positivity for the next cycle.

Welcome cartoon, congratulations!! Glad you're booked in, fingers crossed for you. How old is your little one?
I do think it's a bit 'off' that DrS recommends re-testing... Smells massively of money grabbing! I'm going to question him on it when I see him tomorrow. Feeling nervous yet again..... Confused

Drttc · 26/04/2016 11:58

Cartoon- thought that was you! Welcome back- great to have a veteran pop in ;)! It's incredible how many lives have turned around in this thread over the last year. From terribly grim slumps- to babies and bumps! I'm really starting to believe that as long as a woman keeps at it, she will get there somehow.

Seeking- why are you nervous? How many weeks are you? Eeek very brave to question him on that haha! Must be the preggo hormones ;) Did I mention I cried over us buying the wrong light bulbs? Tbf we'd needed them and had put it off for months and are prepping the house for company...Blush

Seekingmiracles · 26/04/2016 17:10

Just still get that awful feeling that I'm gonna go and get bad news. I feel like this is all some cruel joke. I don't know why.... It's weird.
I cried Sunday o we some stupid barney with DH.... Totally not worth crying over!! Hormones?! Lol!
I'm just going to question what he suggests for when we're ready for number 2. Dh and I have already decided that I'm not going to go back on birth control and we'll just see what happens. Could end up with two very close together or could take an AGE again. If he says about re-testing I'll question that too - we can't afford to keep throwing money at tests!

Seekingmiracles · 26/04/2016 17:11

Oops and I'm 15 weeks tomorrow

Drttc · 26/04/2016 17:39

Aye yes I know what you mean! I can't help but get a feeling of dread on occasion- after being the 'unlucky' girls so many times it is so hard to get out of that mindset. It does get a little easier though. Being able to feel kicks will be great for you as it'll settle fears a bit! We're thinking the same about no birth control... Seems crazy to go on it after all this happening!

karryk · 27/04/2016 11:24

Thanks Seeking Smile x

Still spotting...was so bloated yesterday evening I felt like I'd swallowed a small hippo Blush I just want af to arrive so I can start again!

Seekingmiracles · 27/04/2016 14:41

Just got out from seeing DrS. All went well and he was happy with baby, we have the sex written down in an envelope in my handbag! Can't decide if we want to look at it or not!

I did question him about subsequent pregnancies and he said that if we were on the complex plan then he'd just say to do that again. As I'm on the high pla he recommended re-testing as it immunes could get worse between pregnancies.... As ha been said before. He said ultimately it's our decision. We could just chose to go on to the complex plan. The difference in cost is only £4/500 though.

annaif · 27/04/2016 15:44

congrats seeking- I can only imagine that it's very difficult not to have a sense of dread.
But all looks good and this is very exciting! Also, good forward planning for #2, cover all bases and have a plan in place for when you're ready to press the trigger.

I think this is where we were caught out ourselves thinking that it won't be a problem, as our only living child was conceived immediately and without any pg problems (we were so lucky and didn't even realize it at the time).... 3 years down the line of deciding we want a second baby, we are still trying as it took a while to figure out what the hell was wrong and I kept losing pg after pg for no explainable reason.

Billy and Karryk, I hope you're feeling a bit better and really hope we will be on the ttc train next month together x

karryk · 27/04/2016 15:56

Great news, Seeking :) that must be a wonderful feeling!!

Hopefully May will be our month, Anna and Billy x

freelancegirl · 27/04/2016 16:01

Hello everyone. Only me. Gosh looks like you're almost at the end of thread 18. How wonderful. I only came by as I saw it on 'active threads' and saw cartoon was back and asking about second children on the treatment. Big hello cartoon, congratulations on the pregnancy.

I think we have had several people who've had two children on the treatment here and I know Mr S has had a lot. It's the same procedure as far as I am aware unless you were on 'high' treatment rather than 'very high'. I was on very high so was already doing everything. Do go and see Mr S and he will talk you through it - if you were only being treated for 'high' before you might need another test and also an increase in treatment. I did have one pregnancy between my two boys that was a surprise and I only starting taking meds whe already over 5 weeks. That ended in mc but it's not a great example as it turned out it was chromosomal. The only one where I've ever managed to get them to test the 'products'.

I do know people who have already been pregnant when starting medication and been fine.

If I can help in anyway do let me know.

Waves to all, sorry I haven't caught up with everyone's stories but am on phone with limited time xx

cartoontrickster · 27/04/2016 20:57

Hey free lovely to see you! I'm already on very high but don't have clexane so I guess that's the only thing we could have added. I'm actually feeling quite optimistic even though I'm yet to start anything other than my vits and asprin.
Bit of back ground for you all, I went to Mr S after my 2nd mc and got preg straight away once I'd started treatment but unfortunately I miscarriaged just after 12wks due to a chromosome issue. We were ment taking a break when I got pregnant with ds (he is 2yrs old) so again hadn't started any meds until I had my bfp. I guess that's why I'm not too worried this time!

seeking congratulations! Did you look in the envelope? I'm not sure I would be able to stop myself.

Seekingmiracles · 27/04/2016 22:23

Thanks Smile
I think a lot of people fall before treatment and only start drugs after a bfp. Not ideal but as you know, it can still be successful. Hope this is another example of that for you cartoon. How far are you?
Haven't looked yet - it's now on the fridge. Weirdly now I know it's just there I don't want to know... Got really upset when dh said he thought he could see through the envelope!! Ridiculous!!
Hi freelance Smile

karryk · 28/04/2016 11:48

Happy Thursday all Smile

Quick question - did anyone experience any withdrawal symptoms or side effects after stopping the steroids?? Hmm

annaif · 28/04/2016 12:04

Hi Karryk,

I personally haven't taken any steroids yet (starting tomorrow) but some ladies on the facebook support group under S's care have mentioned withdrawal symptoms, including feeling very hot for no reason?
What kind of symptoms are you experiencing? I was going to circulate the question to the whole group as well as I am a bit worried about all the noted side effects (namely the insomnia and weight gain/increase in appetite) but I hadn't realised there are also withdrawal side effects on top of that too!

Seekingmiracles · 28/04/2016 17:31

I've suddenly got a itchy rash under my arms and boobs. Not sure if the steroids were masking that.. But no other real withdrawal side effects.
I definitely had the increased appetite and weight gain though. My face has finally started I return back to normal from 'moon face' too!

sunnyday01 · 29/04/2016 08:31

Anna I didn't know there was a facebook support group - what is its name

Also ladies who are about to have/have had treatment to have a baby - would you be interested in a group/thread to carry on chatting after baby has arrived?

Drttc · 29/04/2016 11:15

Hi Freelance!! So great hearing from you! Glad everything is going well :)

Kary and Anna- as long as you wean off steroids correctly there shouldn't be significant side effects. Having skin irritations is quite normal during pregnancy so when you come off the steroids in the second trimester it's not surprising to be a bit itchy all of sudden (I was too!). But in terms of after 10 days of steroids- I can't remember ever having any issues!

Sunny- I would join that group!

Drttc · 29/04/2016 11:16

Oh and I meant no side effects when coming OFF steroids- definitely had terrible skin and weight gain during taking them lol!

Snoopysimaginaryfriend · 29/04/2016 11:50

I had bad skin, weight gain and insomnia on the steroids.

However, after 35 weeks of not sleeping through a single night I think insomnia is actually a pregnancy symptom for me not a steroid symptom haha

It's my last day at work today!!! My maternity leave isn't on the symptom but I don't care, I'm not coming back on Tuesday. Fuck you job!!!! Grin

Drttc · 29/04/2016 16:03

Hehe hooray Snoopy!!! Congrats on starting Mat Leave- time to enter Mummy Mode!

Seekingmiracles · 29/04/2016 16:20
