Life after 30???

RudolphsREADY · 04/12/2006 14:35

A couple of gorgeous MNers have mentioned "life after 30" today, and it got me wondering how old people are. I know it is terribly rude to ask a person's age, but I am beginning to wonder if I am in the minority (under 30) and also, what wonderful things I have to look forward to when I turn 30 (not for a couple of years yet!)??

(Why is this in Conception??)

I'm 29, turn 30 in 3 months. Am in a bit of a stressful situation right now but on the whole, the older I've got, the happier I've got. I'm also (don't shoot me) glad to be starting to look older as well - until very recently I've always looked substantially younger then I am and have never really liked it.

RudolphsREADY · 05/12/2006 18:01

It's in CONCEPTION because I was aiming my question at the ladies ttc in their 30s.

Sorry, but should I move this?? Or do I have to keep justifying posting it here? I didn't realise I was doing any harm

Loving all the responses ladies, thank you all very much! I am feeling less worried about the big 3-0! I will try not to panic about the ever decreasing fertility , who knows I might fall pg before I turn 28!!!

Sorry if that last post came across a bit snippy... I tried to phrase it as jovially as possible, then forgot the smiley, so failed.

If people think I should move it, please tell me where I should post it?

I started ttc when I was 32, after my wedding.
Wedding in March 05, conceived in May 05, dd born Feb 06.

I was worried about reduced fertility at start, but proved unfounded.

Good luck

festivefettle · 05/12/2006 20:00

Hey MrsMc - glad to hear you listen to radio1 in the morning - I have to fight DH over radio4 (or 5 live at the moment with the Ashes on)

Have to agree that Moyles needs a lot of salt to tolerate - but he makes me smile and I find I do get out of bed listening to him [radio4 sends me back to sleep!

Also, Moyles has a soft spot in my heart as during the last 4 weeks of my pg with DD, I had obstetric cholestasis, a pg-related liver complaint which can increase risk of fetal death after 37 weeks. So one morning, when I hadn't felt her move for a good 12 hours, I was panicking - until the radio came on (Chris Moyles) and she went crazy inside me. I was just so so happy, I nearly e-mailed him to thank him. Interestingly enough, the first time DD heard him on the radio after she had been born, she bawled her eyes out - so she may have been moving with disgust rather than enjoyment, but she still moved!!

Anyway, I've gone of the subject area a bit - being over 30 is great Ready, but I think whatever age you are is probably the best for you at that time. If that's not too deep and you know what I mean !!

Donbean · 05/12/2006 20:03

It is a worry Rudolph. Fertility after 30, i read some where that fertility decreases hugely after 35.
We are planning to have another baby within the next 2 years or so. We struggled to get ds but im a big believer in whatever happens, will happen.
I know what you mean though.
Dont move the thread, im into this now.

RudolphsREADY · 05/12/2006 21:06

Right you are then, if anyone else asks why it's posted here, I'll say "cos Donbean said I could - and she's a fiery one you know" I love that I thought you were fiery and you are really not... it is so hard to tell tone on here. I tend to overcompensate with the smileys, or the apologies. Do you think I will grow out of that worry?

I try not to worry about getting pg, but I think I might have left it too late. I know, I know... talk about drama from the 27 year old!! But it's just a niggling feeling when AF arrives, that makes you think, all those years I was trying my best NOT to fall pg, and I might have left my best years behind me!

FestiveFettle, I loved your Chris Moyles story... that will henceforth (did I just type that ) be the only reason not to hate the ignoramous!!

Now I can't wait to turn 30 and have a legitimate reason for doing all those things on MrsMc's list

There are lots of lovely stories about 30 somethings having the best time and having babies too!! YAY!

RudolphsREADY · 05/12/2006 21:08

Will you have any more babies Macdog???

OP posts:
festivefettle · 05/12/2006 21:51

Hey Ready - I started TTC at 27 too - and had those thoughts too that I'd spent years trying not to conceive and then when I finally wanted to it didn't happen. I finally did conceive when I was 29 - so it will happen for you. Hopefully quicker than for me, as you'll have picked up from the other threads, I've always had long irregular cycles, so it was always going to take me longer than a 28-dayer!!

Take care

foundintranslation · 05/12/2006 21:55

It did sound snippy, RR - the OP didn't mention ttc.

RudolphsREADY · 05/12/2006 22:09

sorry

Sorry I had just taken this as a general rant about turning 30 and thought it was fun to have posted on conception as I had never posted on conception before AFIK anyway.

I've got no experience of TTC after 30 so will scuttle off back into my drawer now.

All the best to you!

dingdonglapinroseonhigh · 06/12/2006 07:54

Ooh heck, me too mrs spoon, off I scuttle...

BikeBug · 06/12/2006 09:29

oh, have I arrived just as everyone was leaviing ? I've not posted in conception before but came over here because I'm 35 (nearly 36), DS is 9 months old and I don't want him to be an only child! I love being in my 30's btw - more confident, happier in my own skin, and really good at forgetting my age without counting forwards from the year I was born...

Juicythe2ndnotsowiseman · 06/12/2006 11:54

Things to look forward to when you're over 30. My top 3:

Knowing your right, not just thinking it anymore

Realising it really is the journey not the destination that makes life worth living

Enjoying a saturday night in without feeling like you're missing out!

End of thirty (Not so great):
Watching your youth slip down your face and out of sight! LOL

MrsMcClaus · 06/12/2006 12:39

Juicy! How I miss you!!! How are you doing?

FestiveFettle - liked your happy story . I personally don't like him, DH does but it has the desired effect of making me get out of bed when he starts mouthing off!

Juicythe2ndnotsowiseman · 06/12/2006 14:08

Hi MrsMJ - all fine here. Thickening up nicely. I'm in the 2nd trim now, which I can't quite believe, but all the unpleasant symptoms have gone so just feel fat and not pg atall!!

How is MrMJ and his back? Recovering quickly? Are you enjoying lots of festive cheer while you can??

Miss you too, sweetie, but I keep a watchful eye on you - one of your many fans

IKWYM re Moyles - he gets me up every day when my DH is away. Annoying, but penetrates even the deepest sleep!!

Macdog · 06/12/2006 15:16

TBH Rudolph, probably won't have any more.
Time, energy and money are all considerations.
Thankful for the one I've got. She was a 5hr 45min labour with gas and air and sleeps like an angel, might not be that lucky next time.
Never say never though

RudolphsREADY · 07/12/2006 14:44

Macdog, I like that never say never attitude!!

BikeBug, dingdonglapinroseonhigh and MrsSpoon don't go anywhere, I wanted ALL insights, it was just meant to be about ttc... Obviously I am ttc and thinking about fertility, but isn't the beauty of these threads that topics evolve and we converse with all kinds of different and wonderful people???

I had just been asked a few times why it was here in conception, and I didn't know where I should move it to...

x
