Life after 30???

RudolphsREADY · 04/12/2006 14:35

A couple of gorgeous MNers have mentioned "life after 30" today, and it got me wondering how old people are. I know it is terribly rude to ask a person's age, but I am beginning to wonder if I am in the minority (under 30) and also, what wonderful things I have to look forward to when I turn 30 (not for a couple of years yet!)??

sparklybits · 04/12/2006 15:14

sorry just realised i missed point of this thread:

things to look forward to when you pass 30: missing the point a lot

RudolphsREADY · 04/12/2006 15:18

thanks sparklybits, I am 27 so 30 is looming ever closer, and I wonder if it is something to be frightened of, or if it really doesn't make that much difference??

buffythenappyslayer · 04/12/2006 15:20

RudolphsREADY · 04/12/2006 15:25

RudolphsREADY · 04/12/2006 15:34

I'm 32 and I have to say I think this has been the best year of my life so far sold house, got married, gave up job, went travelling in India, got new job, bought new house. Of course a BFP would round off the year in style.

So it's not all downhill one you reach three zero.

dingdonglapinroseonhigh · 04/12/2006 15:37

I'm 36 and mentally feel a good 10 yrs younger but physically...

When you're over 30 hangovers last for days not hours

dingdonglapinroseonhigh · 04/12/2006 15:39

I have to say I felt much better at 30, just got married, new house, fab job... maybe 35 was the turning point? Maybe it was having DTs at 33? Maybe age has nowt to do with it, jsut the stress of being a mum?

When you're over 30 you start asking lots of stupid questions...

2nervesnapartridgeinapeartree · 04/12/2006 15:39

There is nothing to look forward to. You may as well end it now TBH.

Which am I - over 30 or under what do you think??

northerner · 04/12/2006 15:40

I turned 30 this year and it's fab! I feel more comfortable in my own skin than ever before and am more assertive. I'm going to enjoy my 30's.

XmassyCharlotte · 04/12/2006 15:51

I'm 36, and really feel happier and happier as each year passes.

No more worrying incessantly about what other people think, or whether they like me, or or or or..!

But yes - hangovers are a KILLER these days. And I've just started to notice the imperceptibly small wrinkles starting that I'm going to have to get used to (along with the ever-increasingly-expensive skin creams).

But as they say - youth is wasted on the young!!

dingdonglapinroseonhigh · 04/12/2006 15:56

I agree with that XmassyCharlotte, things that seem so important in your 20s just don't matter anymore, you become more sure of your own identity and less concerned about other peoples' opinions. Life feels generally more secure, money, family and career-wise I guess.

expatinscotland · 04/12/2006 15:58

I'm 35, nearly 36, and feel better every year.

I don't feel ten years younger, and I'm SO glad!

I've lived every minute of my life, good and bad.

RudolphsREADY · 04/12/2006 15:58

well I don't drink, so hangovers are not going to be a problem now or in my 30s! unless turning 30 drives me to drink again?? not that I was an alcoholic you understand - just a lightweight!!

Everyone sounds so positive about being 30!! I am guessing that there isn't really enough of a difference to bother you. That is good news!!

OP posts:
sparklybits · 04/12/2006 16:04

ignore my whinging; i'm happy too honest

MrsSpoon · 04/12/2006 16:06

I'll soon be 31 and I'm still alive so yes there is life after 30.

Any reason why this is in conception? Don't think I've ever posted in conception before.

honeyhangupyerstockingsapple · 04/12/2006 16:06

Hi, I turned 30 in the summer...
boo hoo
However, I have just about got over it... It helps that most of my friends are older than me, so they all still think I am very young!

RudolphsREADY · 04/12/2006 16:10

I have to say, I do worry too much about what other people think!! I really wish I didn't! So if when I turn 30 I stop giving 2 hoots then I will be a happy bunny!!

OP posts:
sparklybits · 04/12/2006 16:39

its in conception as i was moaning about achy boobs which seem to be around most of the month. i said is this life post - 30....

i think it's just a sign that i'm a hypochondriac - and i've beeen one of those since i was about 5

sparklytreeangel · 04/12/2006 16:44

I turned 30 this time last year and whilst apprehensive it has been a really good 30th year. Got engaged on 30th birthday, got married, got a new job and 2 weeks left to get BFP at 30
Life basically goes on as before but I would agree hangovers get worse and for me body clock ticks more.

MrsMcClaus · 04/12/2006 16:46

Rudolph's Ready I'm 33 in 3 & 1/3 weeks. Since I turned 30, this is what's new:

  1. I like olives!
  2. I listen to Radio 2 (it's like Radio 1 15 years ago!)
  3. I need touche eclat and eye cream
  4. People keep referring to me as a "career girl" and say that "time is running out for a family" grrr
  5. I can't sleep anymore after a boozy night
  6. I can't eat almond croissants every day and not put on weight
  7. My cartwheels aren't as straight
  8. I love being an Auntie
  9. My friends have school age children
  10. I have no idea what's in the charts!
MrsMcClaus · 04/12/2006 16:49
