Anyone ttc baby #2?

Hi everyone,

I'm new here, ttc baby #2 (1st cycle) and already driving myself wild with the tww. I wondered if anyone else is in the same boat?

I was so relaxed about baby #1 that the constant nagging thoughts about am I / aren't I are completely new to me and are making me feel anxious with symptom spotting.

Thought I'd see if there is anyone to talk to on here as my husband is quite matter of fact about there being nothing we can do to find out except for being patient - I know, he's infuriating right.

It'd be great to buddy up if anyone else is in a similar position.

I've given up with opks...was just using the cheap ones and saw no difference at all so lost the faith a bit. Think I only lasted 4 days Blush Will prob do it properly a few months down the line if no bfp.

Have no idea what's going on this month...could be a 28 or 35 day cycle. If the latter, I'm fucked as haven't dtd all this week (spent the week apart from dh). Did it eod last week though so here's hoping for a short cycle.

Gx91 · 28/10/2015 21:34

Jp - I'm new to all this tracking ovulation thing , thought the sticks would help me understand what's going on , although might actually try this app thing too lol hard not to be obsessed , I thought I would fall pregnant straight away too so was kinda number when it didn't happen ( hence the obsession ) lol X hope u do catch it this month all the best !! X
Peyia hope u get ur pos OPK tomorrow then X I get the cheapy ones from savers u get 5 for a pound lol so can buy loads lol ( crazy )
Duno if they r crap tho so trying them out for the first time this month ! X

My cycle is a bit all over the place. Used to be 28 days give or take 1, I've been keeping track since new year and length has been:
29
28
32
29
25
30
27
23
24
29
So I'm not really sure what's going on.

The Internet tells me either menopause or cancer! I'm 36 and no family history of early menopause or gynae cancers so I hope and assume it's just one of those things.

I've been going through a really stressful 9 months of selling my flat and buying a house plus a stressful job and of course trying to give my wonderful DD all the love and attention she deserves when I'm with her.

So after my little pity party, does anyone have any comments on cycle length? I have no idea if this is normal. I stopped bf about 7 months ago so maybe things have been settling down after that? Should I see a doctor?

Might download an app, and is it worth taking my temp too??

Peyia · 28/10/2015 22:17

I'm literally googling my closest savers now!!!! Thanks Gx

hoggles we can only hope!! Keeping everything crossed for you (and all of us)

kiki your cycles look regular to me but I'm clearly not a doc! I guess they can vary slightly with life stresses. Sounds like you have a lot on your plate. I think temping is a good idea. If I don't catch within 3-4 months I might try this so I can pinpoint my O day.

With DD I got up duff from one single act of lucky dip. Whilst this is our first month ttc so I have no reason to worry.....I am fretting a bit! DH said no sex tonight as his general will fall off Blush....might persuade him in the morning!!

KikiShack · 28/10/2015 22:27

Thanks peyia. Good luck seducing your DH in the morning!

Peyia · 28/10/2015 22:32

I'll even be forgiving of the morning breath! It's amazing what I'll do when I want something Wink

HoggleHoggle · 29/10/2015 06:29

Kiki I find my cycles really do change when I'm stressed so the house move might have affected yours a bit? Like you I'm usually 28-30 quite regularly but I had a 35 a couple of times early in the summer when I was moving house. I didn't even feel stressed but clearly was.

Also had a 35 last week but in stumped as to why that was.

Peyia · 29/10/2015 17:58

A bit deflated! CD17, used last stick and big fat O!!!! Where the eck is my Smile???

I always thought I ovulated later in my cycle but on my trial run last month I got my Smile on CD15 so thought best start testing early now that we are actively trying!!

Grrrr, might sack them off and leave it to chance. It's already stressing me out and that clearly doesn't help. We've dtd plenty this week and will continue over the weekend.

How are you all getting on??

Gx any luck for you!?

Xxx

jp0303 · 29/10/2015 19:18

My cycle has never been a regular 28 day, nor has it been a regular any particular number, it's always been anywhere between 26-35 days. No idea why it varies, but I'm not concerned as it has been like that since I was a teenager. Don't let Google scare you Kiki.

I will have a look at Ovia then Peyia, once I've stopped laughing at your dh's general falling off!

I do agree that the sticks seem helpful with tracking Gx and I am tempted to give them a try, perhaps next month. My trouble is I will probably use them from the minute AF sods off every time I need a wee!! I don't know what happens to me, when I allow myself the opportunity to POAS I just go crazy for it Grin completely over the top!

I have been wondering about tracking temperature changes as an indicator of ovulation, as I could just use ds's thermometer, which would be cheap and easy. Does anyone know how reliable a method that is? I will look on Google as well.

jp temping is proven to pin point your ovulation date. Once you've done it a couple of months you can see the pattern of temps rising and falling. It'd be cool to actually see the peak but I'm lazy....this is why I'll try that if I don't catch in the next few months.

Also, now this is me just being crazy ttc woman but I had no OPK sticks to pee on so I done a pg test Shock guess what?? It was a BFN!!!! Hmm

I need to get a hobby.....

Loki17 · 29/10/2015 21:36

My friend gave me about a hundred Internet cheapies and I've had to put them in the car to stop myself from testing! 7 dpo tomorrow. I feel so emotional today I'm all teary. I really hate ttc. I've done really well this month not to obsess or symptom spot. However, the thought of doing it all over again makes me want to cry.

jp0303 · 29/10/2015 21:44

Oh Loki, it's so hard, I'm sure that the constant speculation about where we are in our cycles makes us so much more affected by the hormones. Have a good nights sleep and hopefully you'll feel better in the morning.

OP posts:
jp0303 · 29/10/2015 21:45

I think I will make some use of ds's thermometer after AF, it's an in the ear one so I'll probably end up with sore ears and a sore fanny with all of this ttc!

Peyia · 29/10/2015 21:57

You got a temp first thing in the morning as soon as you wake or after 4 hours sleep. It's about the base temperature of your body apparently....I think that's right!!

Good luck ladies....xxx

Peyia · 29/10/2015 21:58

loki can I have some please??? Hahah

OwlinaTree · 29/10/2015 23:36

Hi guys can I join in? Trying to conceive no 2, started trying round 12th Oct, think I'm ovulating at the mo, not sure tho!

Took about 6 months with DS, and I'm 38 so not holding out much hope for a quick result.

I've got a clear blue monitor but I'm not turning it on for the first few months, just going to see what happens.

Glad to see a few bfps already on here. How exciting!

Figgygal · 30/10/2015 07:57

Hey all

Can I join too!!

Ttc 2nd have an almost 4yo DS who was conceived in 6 weeks a unexpected pg 2 years ago from 1 reckless night which ended in mc at 6 weeks been ttc 10 months now.

I've been online and bought some opks and a thermometer I'm already on trying for a baby vitamins. My cycles are all over the place having gone from a regular 28 day cycle to a cycle over the last year which fluctuated between 24 and 33 days having seemingly settled now on 24 for the last 3 months.

I'm a couple months shy of 35 and so after many tears the drs this month checked bloods and hormone levels were normal and I seem to be ovulating.

DH and I had always said we wouldn't take the fun out of ttc but after 10 months I'm going to science the shit out of it. If we don't get lucky in next couple of months will be back to dr for dh to be checked out.

I've downloaded an app which tracks temperature, mucus (god help me), ovulation think it's called kindara going to use that every day. It's got a lot of useful info on it re: ovulation and temp charting so would recommend, I've become the baby obsessed woman I said I wouldn't be.

Going to read the thread now wave to everyone ??

HoggleHoggle · 30/10/2015 10:42

Hi owlina and figgy!

Peyia · 30/10/2015 11:40

Hi newbies!!! Baby dust to you!!

Yes Kindara is another good one. I like the community aspect to it too....

jp0303 · 30/10/2015 12:36

Hello newcomers, glad to have you joining us Smile

I will have a look at Kindara too, thanks for the recommendation.

I am going to keep ds's thermometer by my bed then if it's a first thing temp I need to take, although I'm lucky to get 4 hours in a row at the moment, think ds's molars are coming through so he is frequently up in the night. I'm too tired to get worked up about ttc this month because of it, so at least that's one good thing about being a tired zombie!

Is anybody getting towards testing time yet? I'm getting hopeful for more BFPs out there!

HoggleHoggle · 30/10/2015 13:15

I'm a week away at the earliest jp but will keep you posted! What about you?

Panicking that I felt some 'eggy twinges' last night which wouldn't be a good sign given lack of sex this week, although to be fair I am much, much more relaxed this month overall which is a happier place to be. Got myself so worked up last month, it was ridiculous.

HoggleHoggle · 30/10/2015 13:15

And - hope you get more sleep soon!

Loki17 · 30/10/2015 16:04

I'm on cd 7 so 7 days away from testing too. Although, I'll probably test early because all of the ic tests ho out of date soon so I need to use them up. That's my excuse and I'm sticking to it!

Gx91 · 30/10/2015 18:44

Woohoo darker line today think ovulation on its way , thank goodness bcoz bf working away starting Monday ! Really hoping we manage this cycle! X

How r we all doing ? Welcome to the newbies ! Grin xx

Anyone ttc baby #2?
jp0303 · 30/10/2015 21:06

Thanks Hoggle, dh is taking on the night shift tonight, so I'll hopefully get more sleep. Although in all likelihood he will bring ds through to sleep in our bed if he wakes up, meaning I will be fighting for duvet and fending off digs from sharp little elbows.

Depending on my cycle length this month AF could be due at any point over the next week. I am not going to POAS until at least Tuesday, but I expect that AF will make an appearance before then.

I'm glad you're feeling more relaxed this month, it can be so draining when it's all consuming. I've felt better for not being so intensely focused on it this month too.

Good luck Gx, hopefully timing will work out despite your bf working away next week.
