Hi ladies,

Just joined up & wanted to say hi & to see if anyone else in a similar boat to me?

I'm 29 and this is my first cycle off the pill. Currently on day 29th & so far not much is happening. I've been tracking my temp, so far no rise for ovulation. I have been treated for PCOS a few years ago but can't ever remember a normal cycle. I managed to get pregnant but sadly ended in miscarriage at 8 weeks. Went back on the pill not long after. Feeling nervous that my cycles could still be linked to PCOS or is this just down to the pill?

What have other peoples cycles been like when stopped the pill?

Xxx

Tamara160 the body is indeed an amazing thing! Thanks for the feedback from what your doc says Rose58, I hope all went well? It's difficult to judge when you ovulate if you don't know when AF is coming though! I guess if you are lucky to be regular it becomes more easy to know... We shall wait and see...
We are going to TTC properly in Aug but just be a bit more relaxed June/July, won't tell DH about being more fertile in first 2 weeks off the pill then! Shock

Margo5 · 12/06/2015 07:54

By the way, how old is everyone, where do people live and how long have you been on the Pill? I live in Kent, am 37 and was on the Pill for 18 years...
Nice to know a little more about people without giving too much away, be funny if I actually knew one of you - ha ha! Xx

ktkaye · 12/06/2015 09:58

27, live and teach in London. Sort of (casually) TTC after 12 years on pill/ implant. Actually wouldn't mind a good clear out and getting body regular again before seriously TTC around Christmas time. If we get lucky before then so be it!! Still awaiting AF after ten weeks but have been spotting the last couple of days so here's hoping! No idea when/if I ovulate ATM and slowly convincing myself my period will never come back!! It's lovely to have this group. We are quite a mix of ages and occupations Grinxx

Also - need to share my current level of hormone induced madness. Had so forgotten what this was like. Last night oh and I were due to go on date night (he has worked later the last few days so haven't seen much of him). Was so excited and happy, then he text me to say he was stopping off to get his hair cut in the way home (it is getting v long). This for some reason was a total disaster for me and I cried on the bed!! All because 'he didn't want to come straight home, wasn't excited to see me' etc. Utter utter madness. Poor bloke keep looking at me all bewildered out of the corner of his eye like I'm an unexploded bomb. I did apologise for the subsequent tearfulness when he arrived home... 15 mins later!! Anyone else going slightly deranged?!

allyd84 · 12/06/2015 10:29

Yep,totally derranged. Had row with hubby last night for no reason- he went to pub for a few drinks with his work mate. For some reason i decided he didnt want to spend any time with me ever and just wanted to be at the pub with his friends and he had been with them all day so obviously he should have rushed home to me!
Must be bloody hormones- i normally really like a night to catch up on my own tv etc but instead shouted and cried and told him he didnt care about me. I have said sorry but feel so guilty and that makes me want to cry too!

Still no sign of AF :( is anyone having the odd wine? Totally know its a nono ttc but with no AF in sight and drs saying could be months wondered your opinions. Still doing opks and still have bfn but birthday on 22nd and going away for the weekend so wondered if it would really matter as long as still hadnt ov?

allyd84 · 12/06/2015 10:34

Oh and im 30 (almost 31! ) and live in stroud, glos. TTC #1 :)

ktkaye · 12/06/2015 12:29

Haha ally! I might actually tell my husband that just to prove that the lunacy is a real thing that other women have. I would have been exactly the same as you - a night out after work... Cardinal sin! Last night oh said he was tired so I snapped ' not to tired to text Dave from work though!'. It's really odd the whole hormonal thing because in a way you know you're being unreasonable and yet everything really is a disaster in your mind and you just want them to be at your beck and call the whole time to soothe you and tell you you're fabulous even though you are likely to b a) spotty b) crying and c) wearing granny style period pants in anticipation of AF. Or maybe that's just me?!

ktkaye · 12/06/2015 12:32

Also.. Definitely having the odd wine. Essential part of the weekend. I haven't come up as ov since I stopped the hormones so now ignoring of sticks in the hope that that will make it happen? AF still messing about. Obsessive knicker checking every few hours. Cramps 1 (may have been wind) ...

TriJo · 12/06/2015 15:14

Wine until there's a line tbh. Not a huge drinker but a glass or two of wine at the weekend can't hurt. Picked up a nice Californian sauvignon blanc in Whole Foods yesterday for a sneaky reminder of our honeymoon!

Margo - north London here, 31 in a couple of weeks.

Labradormummy · 12/06/2015 15:25

Hi guys, very new to all of this but loving the comments and I've leant loads already!! Came off microgynon last month....mid month because I got excited. Never really had that maternal pull and then around three months ago, boom. My partner and I discussed it and we're officially trying and were really excited. I had a bleed after I came off the pill mid month but apparently that's normal. Waiting to see if I settle now. Learning loads off this website and loving it.

ktkaye · 12/06/2015 17:01

Welcome welcome every one. Please feel free to update us all with CM info (always tmi but ladies, we need to compare notes!), hormone lols and General life. We are here because our husbands/partners cannot find out how slightly obsessed we all are.
And it's Friday !!! Wine (because there's no line... Yet)
Hannah, fingers crossed for the weekend! X

Tamara160 · 12/06/2015 19:22

I'm 26, live in Leicestershire and teach in Derbyshire. I've been on microgynon for 7 years solid.
hahhaaa oh my god KtKaye! Poor bloke, I think our blokes will be nervous wrecks by the time any babies appear what with coming off pill hormones and pregnancy ones too!
I do know what you mean though, since coming off the pill I have definitely been more clingy regarding the husband. If he arranges to go and see his friends it's a much bigger deal now than it ever was.

Love the whole ' wine until there's a line' motto. I'll be participating in that later :)
x

Margo5 · 12/06/2015 19:24

'A drop of wine is fine until it's BFP time' as far as I am concerned... I don't drink much anyway but as it could take a while to conceive I won't give up until I really have to!

Day 4 off the Pill and feeling bloated, not a good look in the jumpsuit I wore to work today! People prob thought I was actually pregnant...

Nice to know a bit more about the people on here. Also so lovely to have a place to share our experiences without boring and confusing our husbands/partners I totally agree! Also good as DH and I have decided we don't want to tell people we are TTC as it will put more pressure on us. I have only told one friend who I really trust not to say anything to anyone else. (Mentioned it to my Mum but DH doesn't know that!)

It's the weekend and we're off out for dinner - yay! Have a good one folks let's hope for positive AF news... Wink

Tamara160 · 12/06/2015 20:06

Haha Margo i know what you mean, the bloating is awful! We have only told a few close friends and my parents.

I only really have the occasional wine or cider x

ktkaye · 12/06/2015 21:31

Eh?! Put some details in to Ovia...namely 4 days of brown spotting. And it has suddenly decided I'm in my fertile window?!! V confused. Any other Ovia users who can help?!!

Murphy87 · 12/06/2015 23:05

Hi, first time ttc and learning lots from this thread! I'm 27, a teacher and came off Yasmin around 3 weeks ago after being on it since I was 15. My husband and I were hoping to start ttc around Xmas time however I'm a bit worried after being on the pill for so long it will take ages! Downloaded a few apps, started taking seven seas (my friend credits them with her BFP 6weeks after coming off the pill) and got my fingers crossed! Smile

mrshjb · 13/06/2015 07:48

Sorry I've not read all the thread but wanted to share my experience coming off the pill. I'd been on for about 11 years solidly and I came off in October 2013. It took quite a while for me to get my first period, it was after Christmas! I then had irregular periods until April and I got pregnant in May! I found temping really useful because it helped me to confirm that I had ovulated and to predict when AF was due. You'll hear people saying that the pill leaves your system straight away and if you don't go back to normal straight away then there is clearly a problem, for me that just wasn't true. It was just that it took my body a while to get back in to it's natural rhythm. The exact same thing happened after I gave birth!

Good luck everyone and I hope you all get your bfps soon!!

HannahFlo · 13/06/2015 09:15

Hi ladies!

I need some advice as I'm a little confused! I'm on day 18 today & if I have a similar cycle to my last (34 days) i should be around ovulation however so far nothing....I think? I'm not super great at noticing cervical fluid (sorry this is totally gross) and no positive opk so far. However during sex this morning it was really uncomfortable? I did read somewhere this could be due to my cervix? And that ovulation could be coming?

Is this true? Anyone else experience this? Right now I'm so so worried that I don't ovulate in my cycles?? ConfusedConfused

ktkaye · 13/06/2015 10:47

Hi Hannah! Try not to worry (says the biggest worried ever). Am I right in thinking your quite newly off the pill? If so your body will still be regulating so it will be quite difficult to predict ov. Also, if you are opk-ing then sometimes the hormones don't show (work colleague's sister got preg despite totally negative results the whole cycle). Changes in your cervix are a good sign something is going on - just enjoy dtd as much as possible to keep your sperm banks full lol!! Xxx

ktkaye · 13/06/2015 10:59

Gaaa! You're

Jellybean100 · 13/06/2015 21:34

Hi hope it's okay to join in! I'm 4 days off the pill. No symptoms for me at all at the moment...feel a bit bloated but probably because I've just come home from holidays rather than any hormone changes lol Hmm will be watching closely for updates from you girls!

Rose58 · 13/06/2015 21:40

Been away for a couple of days at a wedding so was nice to spend time with DH although in only on CD 9 today! I'm 27 live in Abrrdeen. TTC no 1 and been off mercilon for 9 months (although 1st month TTC). I'm blosted and still a hormonal wreck around AF. Must say I got my sex drive back after a few months of coming off the pill and am so horny (sorry!!) when I suspect I'm due to OV!!

novinophobia · 13/06/2015 22:54

Hi everyone, I hope it's ok to join in. I came off Marvelon about 6 weeks ago, had an initial withdrawal bleed and then a cycle of 35 days before the next period. I was really surprised it came as quickly, as I stopped the pill for a few months last year whilst I was having hormone tests to investigate for PCOS (which I probably do have), and had much longer cycles. I have been on the pill for the best part of 12 years

With regard to time of ovulation, I think it usually happens 10-14 days before AF. Without wanting to sound gross, it coincides roughly with when your cervical mucus turns clear and very stretchy - this makes it easier for the swimmers to make their way up the channel!

I am 31 by the way, trying for first child and live in the midlands. I am actually a doctor, although am not an expert in O&G. Pleased to meet you all!

ktkaye · 14/06/2015 09:26

Hi all! How is everyone? Currently sat in bed pondering whether or not to get up and paint the bathroom (our flat is always mid- some sort of decoration) or whether to take advance of a husband free day to catch up on my reports. So far I have eaten an out of date pancake and realised I've forgotten to post my dad a Father's Day card. Whoops.

My spotting earlier this week clearly didn't herald a period as I've had nothing for two days again. Feeling a bit fed up tbh, thought I was getting back to normal. The AF wait is still on! X

HannahFlo · 14/06/2015 10:33

Just did a opk....and it was positive!!!!!! Bloody hell I'm so happy!!
