Ladies, Fred title says it all; we are the ones who shag as much as our men can cope with in order to get upduffed without the stress of scientific whatnots!

Fred rules (copied and adapted from previous Fred)

  1. Thou shalt shag as much as humanly possible in order to get upduffed.
  2. Thou shalt not partake of OPKs, temping, or charting.
  3. Thou shalt keep symptom spotting to a minimum.
  4. Thou shalt share with your fredmates where needed.

JSing lingo

ERTD = Evil Red Tide of Dooooooommmmmmm. Or AF to most others.

Viroid = This is you, dear poster. This is from the first JS thread when someone tried to type 'ladies' and it autocorrected to 'Viroids' - so there you go!

Pant snot = Egg white cervical mucus.

Doing a kitten = Getting upduffed soon after joining (warning: may induce envy in other posters).

POAS = Pee On A Stick (of the pregnancy detecting kind, not from a tree). Also known as PIAR (Pee In A Ramekin - cos we're posh birds innit). Or PIATLH (Tea light holder) PIAWG (Wine glass) or anything else you care to pee in!

ROC - Receptacle of Choice - what one chooses to use for the task of POAS

JIAC = Jizz in a Cup. Preferable to jizz on the carpet or jizz in the eye. This one's for the lucky men in our lives.

Shagging like something = JSing like a teenage nymphomaniac.

Giving a hooya = Giving a much needed slap to a fellow poster in danger of slipping into ttc obsession.

Contraband = Of COURSE none of us EVER partake of any silly OPKs or temp charting. They are Contraband.

Icing = ovulating. Another autocorrect development!

Getting your Cape on = planning some serious pouncing on DH/DP

TWOT - Two Weeks of Torture!

TWPU - Two Week Piss Up!

Brilliant lil so pleased for you! Xx

ChatEnOeuf · 08/10/2014 13:39

Oh Lil that's great news! Merry Christmas, here's an orange to practice jabbing Grin

Nine fucking times? Fuck off. Even with lube that ain't happening.

Bother I like your maths :)

I don't run, so chocolate and chasing after a toddler it is...

lildottie · 08/10/2014 14:01

Thanks guys! :) and thanks for the orange chat :)

I'm just looking into acupuncture as I got some names from the nurse this morning of a couple of midwives who do it - jelly on one of their websites it says about acupuncture being used to bring back af...maybe something to try?

Leela5 · 08/10/2014 14:05

Yes and reflexology is meant to be good for reproduction too Smile I had gynae problem when I was younger and reflexology fixed it

peardrop2 · 08/10/2014 14:07

Vitamin question alert!! Can you take omega 3 when pregnant? You know there are different Pregnacare vitamins? Concept, pregnant + breastfeeding and post baby. Well, I'm just confused! I've been taking the breastfeeding ones but they have the Omega 3 and Conception ones don't. Does that mean that I shouldn't be having Omega 3 whilst TTC? Help please Grin

jellypi3 · 08/10/2014 14:38

Thanks for the tip Lil I might look into accupuncture. I've never been a holistic remedy person, but why not!

Pear I take EPO, Folic Acid, Vitamin D and will start taking Vitamin B6. I don't take Omega 3 so can't help you there sorry! I can't see it doing you any harm though taking it? AFAIK most important one is folic acid :)

jellypi3 · 08/10/2014 14:39

Oh and Lil, sorry congrats! That's great news. Gx for a pre-xmas BFP though :)

freshstart4us · 08/10/2014 14:49

Congrats lil that is great news for you! Great to have a proactive timeline, and if you go for shagger of the month and LOS pre-empts the whole thing mores the fun. ;)

pear Pregnacare has the Pregnancy tabs, and also the Pregnancy Plus version, which is ridiculously expensive but has the Omega 3 capsules included. I took those with DD and will be taking them again this time round, on Amazon Subscribe & Save they are 8.84 a month whereas even if you by 3 for 2 at Boots it works out at 10 a month.

BothersomeB · 08/10/2014 15:41

Lil - that's great news...not long to wait at all! I went ahead and booked Chelsea and Westminster because I'm a snob it's easy to get to, has a reasonable waiting list (appointment end Nov) and because Fresh says they're OK...scientific, well thought through decision making that!

Fresh - nah, not a number cruncher, marketing...so I just made that shit up...and then added some brackets.

Right - shagging advice again - EWCM and positive contraband today so if we DTD tonight, is Friday morning still in with a chance of being good timing too? Daily is a...bit of a struggle...shall we say, but a morning quickie can sometimes we procured...never quite sure how long to keep JSing and when to give the old boy a break...thanks - glad we had this little chat...

Still tittering over Noniks 9 lives pussy...Grin

honeysucklejasmine · 08/10/2014 15:44

Is it bad that i just take the tesco brand pills? too cheap for pregnacare

You guys talk so much! Welcome pixia!

Lil that's so exciting, congratulations! Really glad you're feeling good about it.

La hope the cats are happy to see you!

lildottie · 08/10/2014 15:53

Thanks everyone. I'm actually really excited! lol. Even been checking potential due dates dn's birthday grr

bother you will probably ice tomorrow on basis of positive contraband today so assuming you ov late pm tomorrow friday could def be in with a chance!

pear omega3 isn't a problem at all. As long as you are getting plenty of frolic acid, vitamin c and vitamin d anything else is a bonus. Just don't go too far over the RDA's and don't forget you'll be getting stuff from food too.

jelly i imagine you'll try anything to get the witch back at this stage! don't know how you're coping to be honest, i'd be fuming!

OP posts:
jellypi3 · 08/10/2014 16:07

whats frolic acid? Grin sounds interesting!

BothersomeB · 08/10/2014 16:08

lil - Loving 'Frolic acid' - autocorrect or no? Either way - lovely.

lildottie · 08/10/2014 16:08

TinkerBlue · 08/10/2014 16:38

Congratulations lil must be so great to feel like you have something so positive on the horizon! Does the process sound hideous or ok?? I've had lots of different reports on the icsi process, some people have said it's quite scary and others have taken it completely in their stride.
Dh and I chatted again about ivf at the weekend. I'm so conscious that my choice not to do it impacts on him as much as me and wanted reassurance that he's ok not going down that route. He said it's up to me as its my body which I'm sure you'll understand doesn't help. Confused
It still doesn't feel like the right thing for me if I'm honest but would be interested to hear your views on the process as someone so obviously excited about it. Am I missing out?? Hmm

lildottie · 08/10/2014 17:21

tink its the opposite way around here. dh has always been about how medicine shouldn't intervene, survival of the fittest etc. then he got his sa results!

I view it like this. you don't think twice about shortcutting your cooking by using a microwave, or about adding up using a calculator. in this day and age we use technological advances to our advantage in every day life. even the cbfm! so why not take advantage of what medicine has to offer to solve this problem?!

icsi is ivf. the difference is they inject the sperm directly into the egg instead of leaving them all in a dish to get on with it. we have to have icsi because dh has low motility. I've joined a couple of forums where people are just starting their ivf cycles and have found the injections nowhere near as daunting and scary as they expected. needles don't really bother me too much anyway. as for the egg collection and transfer they sedate you and your dh is with you in the room. nothing they've told me or I've read has worried me or put me off. yes there are risks but I trust my clinic to know what they are doing (they've been doing it 16years) and to know how to identify and resolve problems IG they arise. there is a 24hour line if there are any issues too.

not sure if that helps you. I never thought I'd end up here but now that I am I've just accepted it. its a means to an end. and when we have our test tube baby next year dh wants to buy it a T-shirt saying "science works bitches"!!

OP posts:
lildottie · 08/10/2014 17:22

and feel free to pm me if you want more details on anything. that goes to anyone. don't want to keep hijacking the thread with ivf talk Grin

Pixa · 08/10/2014 17:34

Thanks for the lovely welcome all! I said to DH that you all seem so friendly, and his response was 'It's because they are blatantly getting all of the sex', made me chuckle!

We are taking Pregnacare his and hers, and I am also taking Omega 3. We eat primarily a pescetarian diet so decided supplements were the safest way forward.

Only on cycle one and got a bfn this morning, but it may have been too early to test cd24 out of a 26 day cycle. I am pretty sure I am out this month though, which means I will be enjoying a glass of prosecco or two at the spa this weekend.

Lil I love the idea of your baby wearing a 'science works bitched' t-shirt!! Grin

Leela5 · 08/10/2014 17:39

I think it's incredible - enables folk who otherwise may struggle to have a child conceive. I do understand your point of view tink. I think on same kind of train of thought aslil though in my head there are so many things that would not be possible without science, even something as simple as fighting infection with antibiotics. It wouldn't have been possible previously and people used to die of diseases which nowadays we consider easily curable.

Really keeping all my gingers crossed for you lil!

TinkerBlue · 08/10/2014 17:54

Welcome pixa and anyone else I may have missed Smile

Thanks for the thoughts lil and I totally agree. The principle of ivf is wonderful. It's me actually having to do it that I can't reconcile!
Reasons:

  1. I am an emotional mess at my best. At my worst I forget to hide it!! Grin May not bode well for artificial hormones rampaging through my veins!!!
  2. Having been told 10+ years ago I prob wouldn't have kids I've had a long time to get used to the idea of adopting. I've therefore always imagined my future family as adopted.
  3. I've always secretly believed I would defy the odds and have a baby of my own with very little fuss. Hence the jsing!

At 33 I know that if I want to consider it I need to act pretty quickly (For best chances etc). Maybe I'll stick to the current plan of jsing til crimbo and see how we feel then. I'll be watching your progress with huge interest though, and of course cheering you on for that bfp before the stabbing commences!! Grin

lildottie · 08/10/2014 17:59

I am also a raging mess at various points in the month. the artificial hormones plus that don't really bother me. its only 1 month, and they are only giving me mild amounts as my amh is very high. dh however has concerns Hmm

OP posts:
TinkerBlue · 08/10/2014 18:33

I'm sure you'll be great lil, pma!!! Smile from memory my amh, lh and fsh levels were all low so would be starting on the backfoot anyway. Here's to you getting your bfp though, with or without the science Wine

honeysucklejasmine · 08/10/2014 18:36

Ooooh Pixa, spa day! How lovely! Smile As we say round here, you're not out until the witch gets you!

I've got a spa day in late Oct. I'll be twotting so will have to do things in moderation.

Lil that was really interesting! Thanks for sharing! Smile

Leela5 · 08/10/2014 18:38

:( tink I'm so sorry, it sounds like you have your own very valid and personal reasons for not feeling like ivf is for you. Fx we can support you through your journey here x
