"Being monitored" on clomid involves either a day 12 (ish) scan to confirm follicles are growing, or a day 21 blood test to confirm you've ovulated. So if you're having the blood test, you're being monitored

Welcome to the thread, and I hope the clomid works for you!

Hugs,
Artoo.

sunshinedays · 28/11/2006 18:07

Is this thread still active.. or did you all get BFPs? (here's hoping!)

Artoo · 29/11/2006 07:34

I'm still active, clomid didn't work for me so I'm waiting to start my first IVF cycle imminently.

Hugs,
Artoo.

Hi, I am new to this discussion but wanted to find out what other people think. I am now on my 4th cycle of clomid and did a pregnancy test today which was negative. I also had IUI this time at a private clinic in London. I am getting desperate and thinking of going to IVF. I had clomid in 2004 and it worked the first time and I had a son who is now one. Then I had 5 large follicles and they told me not to proceed but I did anyway. This time there have only ever been 1 or 2 follicles. The blood tests show I am ovulating but am not getting pregnant. I don't want to keep taking it forever and just don't know what to do now. I am starting to loose faith in clomid. Thanks

Natty1806 · 29/11/2006 10:13

Hi Jules

I am on 3rd cycle of clomid and have to admit not sure if it will work (am only allowed 6 months worth)

I know the next step will be IUI or IVF i have looked into both and unless you have to i would not have IVF just yet as it is very stressful, obviously this depends on how it would effect you etc etc and what sort of person you are.

I think IUI only have an 11 % chance of working but think this is with the injections not clomid.

Sorry Sunshinedays BFP's are not that frequent on this thread as not many people post on here anymore. Good luck. x

Artoo - When are you due to start IVF, have you started to take the drugs yet? x

ccpink · 29/11/2006 21:15

Nice to know you're still around Natty. It seems a bit quiet without you and Coggy Let's try and keep spirits high. Christmas is a fab time for extra BDing

jules123 · 29/11/2006 21:55

Thanks Coggy for your reply. I do hope clomid works for you too. Do you know what the success rate is per cycle? I don't really want to do IVF as I know it is stressful but I also find it stressful getting a negative pregnancy test every month with clomid. How many cycles do you think it usually takes to work? I tried to call my clinic today but they didn't call me back. I don't think I'll do IUI again because that seems to have a very low success rate.

jules123 · 29/11/2006 21:57

Sorry, I meant Natty, I read Coggy in the message above, must be rather tired as couldn't sleep last night because worrying about the pregnancy test!

Natty1806 · 30/11/2006 08:43

Thanks ccpink nice to knwo i am missed .x

Jules - not sure of clomids sucess rate, think it is something like 80% to get get the ovaries working in the first three months, and then i think it is a 50% chance of pregnancy in the first year of clomid. What is the sucess rate of IVF per cycle? With IUI even though per cycle is 11% i think that is the first one and by the 4th you are up to 34% chance.

Don't quote me on any of this though, think i have read things right but can get confussing with all these facts and figures.

Hope clomid works for all of us and IVF works for Artoo - we need some BFP's on this thread. xx

naditude · 30/11/2006 17:18

Hi guys!! Long time no speak. Recognise a few names from the old 'clomid gang' thread.

How is SKBF? You still out there?

A quick update on me, after three cycles of clomid, and nearly 5 years of ttc, went to try IUI but sperm swim up test showed DP had antisperm antibodies!! So I am now down regging for our first ICSI cycle. Am due to have egg collection on the 20th Dec. Here's hoping!

Good luck to everyone else and I hope we see lots of BFP's on here soon!!

Take care, Naditude. x

Natty1806 · 30/11/2006 19:05

Good luck xx

Artoo · 30/11/2006 21:09

Hey natitude, good to hear from you again

Good luck with your IVF cycle - I'm due to start down-regging before Christmas, and we're aiming for an egg collection on 16th January. How are you finding the injections? Getting any side-effects?

Hugs,
Artoo.

sunshinedays · 01/12/2006 09:53

Hello All - OK to join your thread in a couple of weeks?

I start Clomid in mid Dec (ttc 2.5 yrs) - do any of you have any top tips to keep side effects at a minimum... or does it really depend on your individual constitution?

Sx

Natty1806 · 01/12/2006 10:10

The only side effect I get is hot flushes. I take mine in the evening so most of these happen in my sleep.

Artoo · 02/12/2006 07:15

Welcome Sunshine

I second the suggestion to take them in the evening, it should minimise any side effects.

Hugs,
Artoo.

Rachee · 02/12/2006 22:14

yup, deffinately evening is best. ( i have trie mornings, and it was bad !)

Just warn DP/DH to watch out for the mood swings, it's not the two of you , it's the clomid !! LOL

Good luck

xXx cd25 6th cycle of clomid.

snowydays · 03/12/2006 10:03

Did you guys have any scans / monitoring in your first or second cycles? If so, which days? (I'm trying to work out how this might fit in around Christmas)

BTW - I am Sunshinedays... just a bit colder.

ccpink · 04/12/2006 17:49

Hi
Snowy I'm on first month and have full blood tests next monday day 21, no scans. Just wondered how you lot felt when on Clomid. Expected to feel queasy when taking them but I'm now on daY 14 and I have still been feeling queasy over the week-end. Today the lower parts of my stomach feel really bloated and tender?! Is this normal?

Natty1806 · 04/12/2006 20:04

Snowydays - I had a scan on CD13 (internal) and blood test on CD22 which revieled a progestrone level of 66. That was enough to satisfy the hospital that clomid was successfull at getting my ovaries working.

CCpink - there are loads of side effects and eveyone is different, i do get really bad ovulation pains that start a good few days before ovulation and build up. I do get bloated around this time as well.

Have you started them yet snowydays?

Loving the fesitive emoticons

ccpink · 04/12/2006 20:30

Thanks Natty - Hopefully that means they're working. I love the festive hats too - glad it's not just me who's a saddo

snowydays · 05/12/2006 10:35

Hi Ccpink & Natty
My fisrt cycle is coming up when I get my af due 13th ish.
I'm half willing it to happen and half hoping it might not be needed IYKWIM. (you'd think after 2.5 yrs pf ttc I'd have given up hope on a natural pg - but no, every month I hope & hope!)

ccpink · 05/12/2006 20:55

I know what you mean Snowy, but I was so excited to start my pills I was desperate for period. I had to wait 60 odd days for mine though!!!
