You don't have to be crazy to be on this thread but it helps

(Ladies, I thought I would jump in and start a non-sweary titled fred. Feel free to turn the air blue now!)

Not getting your hopes up sounds sensible self-protection wish. But it does sound an excellent crop! Well done you.

tametortie · 21/06/2013 08:24

Wish- its normal to be scared. 11 fertilised is amazing!!

Are they keeping them in the oven till day 5??

Just remind me- is this your first cycle??

wishicouldhavealargeMalibu · 21/06/2013 08:43

Yeah this is my first cycle so everything is happening so fast and it's really overwhelming.
They're going to see how they are doing tomorrow night and decide then whether they're going to carry on cooking or not. ET is planned for Sunday but they're still open to it being Tuesday.

Then I have to decide on whether we go for 1 or 2 embies. It's a hard decision to make Hmm

MotorcycleMama · 21/06/2013 08:45

wish that is fantastic!! I know it is hard to get excited and hopeful after disappointment, but you have every reason to. X

tametortie · 21/06/2013 08:47

Put them all in and see what happens! Wink

I think it depends on quality. your clinic should guide you x

wishicouldhavealargeMalibu · 21/06/2013 08:51

Thank you ladies Smile

wishicouldhavealargeMalibu · 21/06/2013 08:52

Ha tame I said that to DP this morning. I asked him if we should have 11 babies and the blood rushed from his face. Made me giggle Smile

twinklestar2 · 21/06/2013 09:09

Wish - brilliant news, keep us updated with how your football team is going Grin

Who asked about decaf? Decaf is a no no because chemicals are used in the decaffeinating process and no ones really sure on the effects of those chemicals. I was drinking 5-6 cups a day of decaf tea or coffee hence the reason I switched to herbal.

My clinic hasn't told me anything regarding food and drink, only to cut alcohol and switch to decaf. I've been reading online about ivf diets and finding info from there mostly.

Karbea · 21/06/2013 09:30

Decaf is ok if it's been water processed, cheaper decaf is chemically treated which is much worse than caffeine (for anyone not just ttcers).

Wish that's brilliant news, you can definitely relax a little for a bit now with 11.

Fabuluce · 21/06/2013 09:35

Decaf used to be made using benzene which is a nasty chemical but now is made using high pressure co2 so it's ok to have but I was recommended to keep it down to 2-3 cups a day and have a mixture of herbals - try not to stick to just one and, of course, water water water. I totally got into the habit of having a hot milk spiced (cinnamon, nutmeg and vanilla) before bed (after the initial revulsion of I am NOT 80 or 2!). It's really quite yummy plus it definitely helped with the sleep.

Fabuluce · 21/06/2013 09:36

Ps - awesome news wish!!

JuicySausage · 21/06/2013 09:47

[waves to Fabuluce, Lemon and Nobeer]

I think it's utter bollocks about caffeine and there is no scientific proof that it affects fertility. The only studies they've done are on mice. Mind you, I'm biased: I drank gallons of energy drink right up until ET (but I wasn't using my own eggs)

Wish, what a haul! Well done you. I'd be very surprised and a little upset if they didn't take you to day 5. Or do a staggered transfer?

Did another test this morning and it was a little darker than yesterday but that's possibly because I used FMU. I don't really have enough sticks to 'test it out': four internet cheapies and a Clearblue.

JuicySausage · 21/06/2013 09:54

Can I admit to being rather blue this morning? And this is why: I will really, really miss this IVF nonsense. I have took much solace from knowing my body is being prepared for a baby and - I know this will sound absurd to most of you - I have loved the injections and the daily ritual of drugs. I feel like it has been so easy and reassuring to know my body is in the hands of IVF experts. I will miss it. And I will miss all of you. And I will feel bereft when this is all over and the outcome is a BFN Sad

MotorcycleMama · 21/06/2013 09:56

Wow juicy - how exciting!!

MotorcycleMama · 21/06/2013 10:00

Sorry juicy x-post - my response now looks incredibly inappropriate! Of course it's not over and you are on your way to a BFP! It's to be expected that you will go from excitement and hope to despair all in the space of a couple of minutes but what could be better for you at the moment? You've got fantastic embies in a snugly home- you're going to be fine!!

tametortie · 21/06/2013 10:01

Juicy- its not going to be a bfn you twat x

I can't bear the thought of you actually leaving us Sad

twinklestar2 · 21/06/2013 10:13

Fabuluce that drink sounds nice, could you give me the measurements for the spices you use?

Karbea · 21/06/2013 10:15

Oh juicy I love doing ivf, everyone thinks I'm mad. I hated this bit (2ww) last time, but I'm not so bothered this time.

tametortie · 21/06/2013 10:16

Yes please fab- that sounds delish x

eurozammo · 21/06/2013 10:20

twink you don't have to be that strict with yourself, you know. If it makes you feel better, do it, but you really don't need to. My 2 besties both have IVF babies without going to anything like those extremes. Through my first cycle, I ate fairly healthily and gave up coffee, but I still had treats and the odd glass of wine. I'm doing the same this time (and also trying to up my protein as I'm trying to grow more than one egg this time around). No baby is worth giving up chocolate for!

wish that's a great result!

joos in the nicest possible way, that does sound bonkers, love! It's not over for you, obviously (think of all the lovely drugs available for labour) and I am at the opposite end of the scale to you on the attitude to drugs. I cannot wait to not be injecting again. I've had my last gonal-f and cetrotide. Trigger tonight and then I can stop shooting up for a while.

AFM, I am totally mizz today. I'm not sure if it's the drugs, the weather or the looming prospect of egg collection, but I feel really down. And extremely grumpy.

MotorcycleMama · 21/06/2013 10:41

So am I right in thinking that euro fish mejust and me all have egg collection in the next couple of days? Please correct me if I have got this wrong, or speak up if you should be added to the list. I'm finding it hard to keep up!

Got my parents coming for the weekend, so a good distraction from all this. Also means that the house is incredibly clean and sparkly, though I'm now worried about all the cleaning chemicals after that report by the Royal College of Obstetrics! In fact I'm way more worried about chemicals than diet. Waiting to hear from the clinic whether egg collection Monday or Tuesday.

eurozammo · 21/06/2013 10:51

I think that's right, motor. Mine is Sunday.

tametortie · 21/06/2013 10:53

How exciting!!!

MotorcycleMama · 21/06/2013 11:11

How are you today tame ? I hope you are taking it easy.

tametortie · 21/06/2013 11:16

Im ok Smile taking it much easier than yesterday x
