Advice re OPK please-very early smiley face

This is my second month using an OPK (clearblue digital that tells you when you are both high and peak fertility). Last month I didn't get a high fertility sign at all (flashing smiley face), it just went straight to peak fertility (fixed smiley face). This was on day 12 which was a couple of days earlier than expected but still seemed normal.

I only finished my period a couple of days ago but started using the opk straight away as my cycles vary a bit (26-30 days). Today (day 8) I got a high fertlity sign. Surely this is too early?

So, we had sex last night just for fun rather than baby making but now I'm thinking should we do it again tonight as I got the high (but not peak) fertility sign or shall we just start doing it every other day until I get the peak fertility smiley face. I don't want to exhaust DH and his swimmers but don't want to miss the window either.

Ah well didn't have much choice char I wasn't that patient I can assure you!! Weirdly with my dd it only took us two cycles! Try not to worry about Dtd to much as you can only do what you can do and it caused a lot of arguments between me and dh as became such a routine!! Hopefully you won't have to worry about it anyway as you'll have your bfp!! I have heard miscarriage goes down not sure why something to do with percentages etc! Good news anyway!

Have you got any further with organising stuff for the baby/birth yet, BNmum?

I've got my 20 week scan in a week and a half. Don't think we're going to find out the sex.

Haha! I thought it sounded familiar. We tried to follow the SMEP (forgotten it now) but tried to dtd every other day then like owly suggests switched to every day when fixed arrived. I think the most important thing I took from it was to not give up to soon, I think it suggests 3 days straight then miss a day and then one more time for luck. It's exhausting but seems to get results so worth a try. As you get to know your cycle better you could always conserve your energy and start dtd later in your cycle. Sounds like you've had a rough time of it lately so fingers crossed this is your cycle. What cycle day are you now?

I feel so excited for you owly, it's a lovely time when baby develops from a blob on the screen to a recognisable little being. It's nice to think you haven't got too long to wait until your next one too.

I'm 33weeks now (i think) and I've got a routine midwife appointment today. I finally pulled my finger out yesterday and found a few things in the back of cupboards. I'm going to try to start putting together my hospital bag this week after not sleeping very well last night (awake since 4am) so I'm not looking forward to today - I couldn't stop thinking about what I'll do with DS when the baby arrives and the fact that we still haven't got a shortlist of names for the lo, how disorganised I am, what a mess the house is etc - once I started thinking I just couldn't stop!

Sounds like you've reached nesting stage Bnmum!! I worry about it being a dc2 also and how that will effect dd. think that's normal

I'm exactly the same! As soon as it's possible I will find out the sex and go baby shopping - I cannot wait!!! Lol not even preggers yet, but I've spotted the pram I want already lol

I'm on cycle day 24.... So 10 days to go!! Although I should probably wait longer.... I'll see if I can last!! lol just been feeling twinges and stuff going on but I suppose could be anything no other signs at the moment.. Oh and I did another cb test and it's flashing smiley! Could be the end of my peak although they say oestrogen stays in ur blood after ovulation especially if u have conceived? Who knows...

I think you should not test after fixed as it'll confuse you plus it's a waste of money! Save your sticks just in case! Just Dtd a few days after you normally would to cover yourself with my dd I wouldn't buy anything until after 20 week scan, not sure if I'll be the same this time! Probably as no point anyway as we will find out sex so so much easier after!! Less than two weeks until 12 week scan, can't wait! I'm 11 weeks on thurs

Oh I would hold out as long as possible but if didn't was poas obsessed!! Have you ordered some cheapies off amazon so you're not po expensive sticks to early?! Ohh I'm excited for you!

Not read all thread so sorry if irrelevant but I used one step op sticks which were £5 for loads and just rise once to confirm the next 48 hours is the fertile time. They worked perfectly for me and seem much easier than the ones mentioned here!

I thought if I got to 12 week scan and all was fine I'd be reassured all was ok but yea prob best to wait for 20 wk scan I'm terrible though I just would be so excited lol

How many dpo was it until u tested?

It's not 10 days more like 12 lol dam 10 sounded so much sooner!! Lol

I've to one cb pregnancy test which I'll save for testing on 3rd week. Prior to that already ordered some cheapies and I'll try n hold out til fri 7th ... Hope my period doesn't come as u can probably tell I've really got my hopes up and I really shouldn't but can't help it lol x

Don't know how many dpo I was because I ran out of ov sticks but I got bfp 3 days before af was due. I didn't test before that so no idea if it was have been positive! But was faint.

I feel okay, nervous for 12 week scan (even though I only saw baby on sat!!) nausea much better, almost gone (fx!) but backache and tiredness still going strong!!

Ah it's hard not to get your hopes up I always did! Fx for you!!

I think you're right owly but I seem to be in the too-lazy-to-do-proper-nesting-so-I'll-just-sit-and-worry-about-it phase. I had mother rotten nights sleep but I think it was more to do with the rain hammering down and DS waking up at 1am rather than due to anxiety.

Good plan to hold out char if you have the will power. Definately stop using the OPKs too, the holder has an inbuilt memory so I would stop and let it reset ready for your next cycle.

How you getting on charley? Are you holding out till the 20week scan before thinking of names and getting a few things?

Hello... So I'm still holding on...lol! Friday is near (14dpo-ish)... And period is due a week tomorrow! Boobs are sore but I normally get that before a period..hormonal..other than that no other symptoms!! This wait is killing me...

I didn't think most people luteal stage was much over 14 days? Are sure you still have a week until your period if you defiantly ovulated 2 weeks ago? I could be wrong but I thought that...(I'm probably wrong!!) I'm doing good thanks, I've got 5 days until my scan now, roll on Monday!!

I have long cycles 38-40 days so unfortunately I have to wait a big longer.... Annoying! I could test by Saturday and hope for the best! But of not I'll wait til my cycle reaches 38 days by my calendar and not by when I estimated ovulated... Xxx

I was poas mad when I finally got my bfp! Did over 10 in the end!! All positive!! Congrats and I hope sickness gets better as well!! I recommend joining the antenatal thread for which you will be due, I've enjoyed being able to chat to other people at same stage! But also stick around here and keep us all up to date!!

Char you can take paracetamol, have some honey and lemon in hit water, limited with other things I think

Congratulations Char, that's fantastic news! fwiw, I had an awful cold right at the start of my pg and held out ages before succumbing to paracetamol and was so glad I eventually did as it meant I could actually get some sleep! I'm sure it's fine if used over short periods.

Not long until your scan now, Owly. It'll be nice to see your bean again. I've got my 20 week scan on Saturday - seems an odd day to have a scan but at least DP doesn't have to take any time off work. We're holding off until then before thinking about names or buying anything.
