Advice re OPK please-very early smiley face

StrawberryMojito · 02/06/2013 09:49

This is my second month using an OPK (clearblue digital that tells you when you are both high and peak fertility). Last month I didn't get a high fertility sign at all (flashing smiley face), it just went straight to peak fertility (fixed smiley face). This was on day 12 which was a couple of days earlier than expected but still seemed normal.

I only finished my period a couple of days ago but started using the opk straight away as my cycles vary a bit (26-30 days). Today (day 8) I got a high fertlity sign. Surely this is too early?

So, we had sex last night just for fun rather than baby making but now I'm thinking should we do it again tonight as I got the high (but not peak) fertility sign or shall we just start doing it every other day until I get the peak fertility smiley face. I don't want to exhaust DH and his swimmers but don't want to miss the window either.

Hi BN, I've nothing to report really. 2ww uneventful so far, no symptoms but that is to be expected. I spent my not very wild Saturday night making a birthday card for DS who turns 2 in a few weeks so that I can send it in to CBeebies and hopefully get it shown on the birthday segment. For some reason he loves that bit and always dances to the music so it would be lovely for him to see himself on tv.

Are you excited about your scan? Has the ms started to subside yet?

blamber · 01/09/2013 21:06

Nothing to report here either! although my OH surprised me with a random remark today. I explained him a while ago how women's cycles work after finding out he thought you can get pregnant at any time in your cycle. I thought I had done a good job as well. So today I told him I am expecting to get my period when I'm abroad visiting family. I was trying to communicate that it would not be very nice getting AF while I'm staying at other people's houses and also that if I don't get AF when I'm there I might be pregnant!

I should have known I was too subtle and the message was too complicated, because he actually responded with: "Don't worry, you'll have another one". What? Just... what?

He couldn't really explain why he said that either. Still clueless then Smile

kabgab · 02/09/2013 00:10

Blue, that was priceless! I'm laughing...they say the oddest some times.

BNmum · 02/09/2013 14:09

Haha! They never cease to surprise me with their ridiculous comments blamber, but that is a classic!

Great idea strawbs, he'll absolutely love it.

Have you got a scan today tea? I'm itching to find out if you have more than one in there.

My morning sickness is still causing me problems, I was up 6 x last night either thinking I was going to throw up or needing a wee. I also had a nose bleed at about 3.30 so I'm feeling pretty tired and grotty today. Feeling excited but anxious for my scan too.

Tea1Sugar · 02/09/2013 14:44

Hi BN sorry nausea is taking over. For now, I seem to be avoiding it. My only symptom is Jordan boobs and tiredness...for now! Really hope your scan goes well. I had my early scan this morning, heart is beating away which was lovely to see, measured 6+4 so same as i thought, due 24/4/14 and there's only one bean Smile To be honest I'm rather relieved.

How's everyone else?

BNmum · 02/09/2013 19:38

Great news tea, I'm pleased the scan went well and you are blooming in your pregnancy.

blamber · 02/09/2013 20:31

That's great, tea!

businessadmin · 03/09/2013 01:39

My ds was born on 25/4/06 tea

hehe Smile

charleylarlie · 03/09/2013 11:58

Gah, this is the third time I've tried to add a (long) response to catch up with everybody - my Internet keeps dying before I remember to save it! So, I'll keep it brief - I can't face typing it all out again.

Just to say that I'm back! On cd3 (worryingly AF started on cd22 and is v. light - seems to be becoming a pattern). I hope to start temping again tomorrow. We are still in the midst of a house move and DP working away during the week. Unfortunately next weekend probably won't co-inside with my peak days, although I did once get a fixed smiley on cd8 so you never know.

Great news re: the scan, Tea. Btw, when you used the pre-seed, did you use the applicator, or did you just use it like normal lubricant (sorry if tmi). Only I think I might use it this month in the hope that it will help DP's swimmers along if it isn't quite my peak time when we dtd.

I'll have to catch up with you all in due course (if my connection behaves itself) but hello to you all, especially to any new people who have joined us in my absence. I can't believe you are 12 weeks now, BNmum! Where does the time go?

BNmum · 03/09/2013 13:25

Yay! Welcome back charley, I hope the house move is coming together and not too stressful. Must be a bit hectic with DH working away during the week, do you have any family or friends close by to help?

blamber · 03/09/2013 21:27

Charley, good to hear from you! Moving house is so stressful, hopefully you'll be sorted soon.

BNmum, when was your scan? If you already had it, how did it go?

I'm on 6 dpo now and got EWCM. Has anyone had this? I did read that it can be because of the rising oestrogen levels, but I never had it last cycle. I keep expecting AF though, as this morning my cervix felt so low and a bit open. It's higher now and more closed, so hopefully it stays away for a bit longer.

Tea1Sugar · 04/09/2013 13:09

Welcome back Charlie. I didn't use the applicator but ahem, shoved some up with my finger. The packets suggested amount was wayyyyyy too much imo so I used the different approach!

Missvaughan85 · 04/09/2013 21:29

Good evening ladies. Well I'm 3 days into a new cycle and will start opk tomorrow as last month it arrived earlier than expected. And thanks to all your advice I will continue past it by about 4 days. Hopefully this will keep me covered. Work has been stressful the past couple of months and the effects are starting to show. Hair is falling out like left right and centre. So baby making is taking my mind off things. Hope all your girls bumps and all are keeping well. Got my fingers and toes crossed for anyone into their 2ww !!! X x

StrawberryMojito · 05/09/2013 05:56

Hi everyone, welcome back Charley and MissV. Good news on the scan tea, congratulations!
My AF started today 9dpo. Earliest its been. Don't really know what to do. Is there any point even trying anymore, it just seems like such a waste of time. My cramping started at 7dpo so I knew it was coming, there is no way any fertilised egg has any chance of implanting. I have my second session of acupuncture today.

Anyway, we're going away for a few days tomorrow which will be nice.

OP posts:
charleylarlie · 05/09/2013 07:12

Oh, *Strawbs", that's a real bummer. I think I'd go to the GPs if I were you. It looks like my cycles are heading that way too. Sad Good luck with the acupuncture - it's worth a try. Hope you have a nice time away - try to enjoy yourself and not stress too much (hard, I know but you deserve a nice treat).

Nice to meet you, MissV. I am on cd5 of my cycle so also near the start of the month.

Hope AF stays away, Blamber.

Thanks for the tip, Tea. I don't think DP was overly happy about the applicator par of the pre-seed, and I'm not sure I'd be comfortable with it either so we'll just use it as normal lubricant and see what happens.

I don't have any family at this end of the move, BNmum, although my dad has come up to help out with DS and a bit of packing for a few days, which has been v. nice. Hoping to move next week or the week after.

I don't hold out much hope for getting pg this month, as I reckon we'll only manage to dtd once or twice and prob not when I'm fertile. I'm contemplating starting properly again next month when we're settled, as I don't think DP will feel like it when he is only back for one day a week. But just keep thinking that time is ticking and I need to get a move on. Haven't started temping this month yet either. I think I need my sleep more at the moment!

BNmum · 05/09/2013 09:04

Morning ladies,
How's things blamber? I hope af has stayed away.

Good luck this cycle missv

Crikey you're up early! Sorry to hear af turned up so soon strawbs, what vitamins are you taking now? i'd be tempted to go to the docs too if this lp has become the norm. I hope the acupuncture goes well.

You've got alot going on this month charley so i think you're doing the right thing just dtd when you can and turning up the heat abit when you're all settled and back to living together. Well done dad for helping out too!

How are you doing tea?

I had my 12week scan yesterday and all looked well. Stomach looked intact, she could see the nasal bone and nuchal fold was 1.6mm. Fingers crossed my bloods come back ok too.

blamber · 05/09/2013 12:01

Bnmum, that is great! I'm glad everything looked good on the scan.

Missv, I hope that your work will become less stressful. So ttc takes your mind off things? In my case I think it just adds stress to my life!

Strawb, sorry about AF. The GP might be able to prescribe some progesterone if LP stays short.

I have had some very light brown discharge yesterday and today, so I'm not feeling hopeful at all. It's 8dpo and I know it can't be implantation because it's lasted two days. So fed up again with everything just not going the way it's supposed to go. Haven't had a normal cycle yet since coming off that pill in April Angry

Missvaughan85 · 05/09/2013 21:35

Hey blamber.I feel it is at the moment. Taking it as it comes, I'm fortunate enough to say its only month two. This page had taught me a lot about why to look for, how I feel, works manic I have my business partner off on maternity leave, which hasn't been easy as the business partnership had gone somewhat AWOL since. So having something to do at the end of a long day other worry about work has been a god send. But I won't be top of the list for acrobatic efforts!!
, my cycle was short this month. First month off pill too. Im sorry it hasn't been successful just yet. It is frustrating. I've got a client who messed up one pill to go onto a different pill and caught straight away. I think we just wish we could be like them!! Life would be nice if it was as easy as that. I hope every one is ok and bumps are cooking nicely!! I'm wishing everyone loads of luck this month!!! X x

blamber · 06/09/2013 08:05

Noooo temp dip and AF arrived. Second cycle of a very short lp. I'm giving it one more cycle, if my lp hasn't improved by then I'm going to see the GP. I feel like I if I go now, two cycles and 5 months after stopping the pill, he will just tell me to wait a bit longer. I'm also going to stay away from any other threads but this one as I just need a break from it all. I like this thread though, you are all very nice Smile

Strawbs, are you going to the GP?

BNmum · 06/09/2013 13:52

Argh! That's rubbish, so sorry to hear af arrived blamber. Is that 9dpo like strawbs?

How's everyone else doing? I wonder how bambi is getting on?

StrawberryMojito · 07/09/2013 20:03

Hi all, wasnt going to post this weekend as we're away and having a lovely time but I peeked and saw that AF had started for you Blue, im sorry, it's crap isn't it and I know exactly what you mean, it does get on top of you. We are staying on a family orientated holiday park and there are so many siblings around, I so want that for DS as he is just so sociable.

Confession time, I have been to the doctors. He was actually very lovely and sympathetic but very dismissive of my short lp and won't refer me properly for another few months. However, I think he was looking for ways to be helpful and when I mentioned that my periods had been more painful in the past 4 or so months (true),he said he would refer me for a scan in the hope that it would get my foot in the door (his words). So I'm waiting for an appointment which should be in a few weeks. I think the scan will look for things like pcos and endometriosis which I don't think I have but at least it rules them out.

I have the feeling it is going to be a long slog and we will need some intervention. On a positive note, DH is being lovely about it all and DS is on fab form at the moment so I am counting my blessings.

Sorry, another v long post!! BN, you are being very patient waiting for us to join you on the Smiley graduates thread!

businessadmin · 08/09/2013 01:02

Im gettin ignored now,

no ones speaks to me.

Tea1Sugar · 08/09/2013 07:04

Sorry blamber. Stupid Af! I'm sure it's taking it out if you but do stay as positive as you can. Not sure how long you've been trying but remember 85% of couples will conceive in a year.

Strawbs, obviously I hope you don't have those conditions but if it means having a scan, hopefully it'll shine some light on things. And as you say, it's great to get your feet in the door. Your ds will have a sibling, don't give up hope. You hear lots of times how conceptions have occurred when couples strip back all the ttc strategies. Lots of luck.

Business - how you getting on? The thread seems to have slowed right down recently!

Everyone else? Any news?

I'm back to work tomorrow. Dreading it. I'm a teacher so six weeks off during early pregnancy has been a dream. The thought of 28 new children, having to wee at certain intervals and control the nausea in between terrifies me!

StrawberryMojito · 08/09/2013 07:48

Thanks tea. I'm sorry business, how are you doing? I've got to admit, I don't fully understand the IUI process. What stage are you at now? I'm going out for the day now so probably will be offline until tomorrow.

The thread has probably slowed down because at first it was all new and exciting with the opks and I was hoping it would only be a matter of time. Ttc is getting tiresome now.

OP posts:
Tea1Sugar · 08/09/2013 08:40

I bet, Strawbs. When did you start ttc? Have you considered a month off just to let yourself recharge?
