Advice re OPK please-very early smiley face

StrawberryMojito · 02/06/2013 09:49

This is my second month using an OPK (clearblue digital that tells you when you are both high and peak fertility). Last month I didn't get a high fertility sign at all (flashing smiley face), it just went straight to peak fertility (fixed smiley face). This was on day 12 which was a couple of days earlier than expected but still seemed normal.

I only finished my period a couple of days ago but started using the opk straight away as my cycles vary a bit (26-30 days). Today (day 8) I got a high fertlity sign. Surely this is too early?

So, we had sex last night just for fun rather than baby making but now I'm thinking should we do it again tonight as I got the high (but not peak) fertility sign or shall we just start doing it every other day until I get the peak fertility smiley face. I don't want to exhaust DH and his swimmers but don't want to miss the window either.

A colleague swore by the asda brand ones!

Nausea kicked in with a vengeance. Ill bet money that dd (3)won't let me rest today too Sad

charleylarlie · 21/08/2013 07:52

Oh dear, Tea. Would dd sit and watch cbeebies/nick jr for a bit longer today, do you think? Or is she on the go all the time? Nausea's a good sign though - will the severity of it give you any clues as to whether it's one or more? Anyway, try to sit down as much as poss today and not feel to guilty.

Tea1Sugar · 21/08/2013 08:18

Nick jr will be on all day I think, and maybe a bit of bribery! How are you Charlie?

BNmum · 21/08/2013 11:54

Oh no tea! Could you both have a lie down after lunch? I've found that my nausea is linked to tiredness. The more tired I am, the worse the ms seems to be.

Tea1Sugar · 21/08/2013 13:21

It's not that bad at the mo thanks BN, we've been playing tea parties so pretty chilled out!

Can I pick your brain about cb digi please? In seven days I've had all 1-2, 2-3 and yesterday 3+ results. How can they move through them all so quickly??

blueamber · 21/08/2013 14:42

Tea, the cb uses the level of hcg to predict dates. However, these levels can vary enormously per woman. So my guess is your levels have just been rising quickly so it's giving you later dates. It doesn't have to mean anything, but then again hcg levels rise faster with multiples. But just because yours is rising fast doesn't have to mean you'll have multiples!

BNmum · 21/08/2013 17:10

I'm just trying to find any excuse for an afternoon nap at the minute tbh.

Roll on your scan date tea!

Like blue mentions hcg levels vary from person to person so could be that you just have naturally high levels or it could be multiples, eek! I only tested the once and since it said 3+ there was no point in me testing anymore after that so I cant say how fast I went through the different dates.

How's anyone else getting on? Good luck for tomorrow business. Is anyone on their 2ww?

blueamber · 21/08/2013 22:16

Tea and bnmum, hope the nausea will go away.

I forgot to do an opk this morning because I was all nervous for a job interview. It didn't go too bad either. But anyway, later today I couldn't feel my cervix opening as it was so high, I got a bucket load of ewcm and slight pains. So i think I'll ov soon, maybe tomorrow, which is cd18. I'm really happy that my cycles seem to be regulating: it's not too late in my cycle, I got more ewcm and less pain. Hoping for a temp shift next!

How is everyone else doing who got positive opks?

charleylarlie · 22/08/2013 07:13

Ooh, that sounds v. promising, Blue! Good luck with the interview too.

I think I may have ov'ed yesterday or poss will today as ewcm is drying up and no longer have increased sex drive. I haven't been temping thiis month so won't know for sure. We aren't ttc this month though and zero chance as haven't dtd once - too busy!! Can't wait to get back to it next month (hopefully) as feeling a little impatient.

Sorry to hear you're still suffering with ms BNmum, but hopefully you're nearing the end of it. Have you discovered a newfound love for Mr Tumble and all the other CBeebies and Nick Jr characters, or are they still as irritating as ever (Peppa Pig and Ben and Holly not included - I think they are ace!)

charleylarlie · 22/08/2013 07:18

P.S. Like Blue says, Tea - don't worry too much about the clearblue dates - I only ever got 3+ weeks and I definitely only have the one DS (even if he does make the noise and mess of two)! Grin

Tea1Sugar · 22/08/2013 07:19

That sounds really positive blue! And even though you're not trying this month, charlie, it's great your body is doing what it's told!

BNmum · 22/08/2013 08:33

That does sound promising blue, good luck and best wishes for your job interview too!

It's also great that you can track your cycle charlie and are so in tune with your body, it should make things easier for you next month Grin
How's the relocation going?

StrawberryMojito · 22/08/2013 19:50

Hi all...

...Tea, step away from the pregnancy tests! You will stress yourself out. Easier said than done I know.

Tiredness and hunger always made the ms worse for me BN, hopefully you will be out of this phase soon enough. No we didn't use Preseed the other night, it was nice to have a completely unbaby related shag! However I have bought some and will give it a try over the next couple of days.

Blue, it sounds like everything is going well. I had my first flashing smiley on the opk today, unlikely to dtd tonight though. DH is at a rugby match and we are both tired from DS waking up at 4am this morning (!). I'm trying to take a more relaxed approached this month as it got on top of me last month. It was my birthday yesterday and I had a lovely day. I'm now 34, have officially got 1 year left before my fertility starts to decline which is funny as it doesn't feel too efficient at the moment!

Kab, you're post was really interesting. I agree about how much pressure we place on ourselves. Did you find it easy to get doctors to work with you or we're they uninterested to start with? Have you any advice re dealing with doctors?

Charley, I'm also impatient but was really tempted to have a month off this month just for a break from it all, we opted just for a slighly more relaxed approach in the end. You sound like you have enough on your plate at the moment. Good luck with the moves.

Bambi, are you about? How are things going?

Tea1Sugar · 23/08/2013 07:42

Happy birthday Strawbs!! Grin Hope you had a lovely day. You're sounding really optimistic which is great. I think it sounds so silly that there is a definitive age "cut off point" to fertility. This'll be your month!

BNmum · 23/08/2013 08:16

Belated birthday wishes Strawbs. It sounds like the relaxed approach really suits you.

I'm interested to find out how you are all getting on with your preseed, I was on the cusp of buying some when I found out I was preggers. I've heard great things about it and it seems to have a high success rate so fingers crossed it will work it's magic for you girls too.

blueamber · 23/08/2013 14:50

Hi strawb, don't worry about your age! That 35 is not some magical age where your chances are a lot smaller. Instead the chances drop slightly with every year, but are still quite good. If you read impatient woman's guide it explains it a bit better.

Bnmum. How are you? Do you have another scan coming up? Was that early scan any different from the one they do around 12 weeks?

Tea1Sugar · 23/08/2013 15:08

Fwiw, I'll never know if preseed was the magic ingredient or not but it did work first time we tried it

BNmum · 23/08/2013 18:14

Did you do an OPK today blue?

I'm the same, still nauseous and still searching for that miracle cure. I have another scan in early sept when I'll be 12weeks. The early scan was really to help 'date' me as my cycle was so all over the place. They did a few measurements, gave an estimated dd (although this could change a next scan) and checked heart beat. It was only 2cm so too small to check anything else.

How are you getting on tea?

kabgab · 24/08/2013 01:03

Strawbs - Happy Birthday! Hope it was fun for you...I agree with blueamber re: age...it's not a magic "poof" where you start a decline...I felt that way and also feel that way now being a recent 39 yr., but I conceived at 37 and she's the little luv of my life! If only our #2 would come round....as I said, we do put pressure and stress on ourselves mentally and emotionally, thus physically our systems / bodies respond to this without our even being aware of it or how...I agree with your relaxed / laid back approach. In fact, I conceived my daughter a couple years ago when I stopped seeing the Dr., went off fertility meds, chucked OPKs out, and just DTD to DTD....a month later, positive test!! Anyway, I find dealing with the Doctor fine, but I think it's so important to find the right "fit"...if they seem uncaring or rushed, when it comes to fertility care, then that's not good...this is such an emotional time for those TTC and I believe a solid bedside manner and patience is so important.....

I'm not doing OPK this cycle...I was too upset last round with the process of it...so I will rely on every other day DTD and scans at the Dr. (first one on Monday, which is my CD11)

I hope all the others are doing well...fingers crossed for everyone. xx

businessadmin · 24/08/2013 19:03

Ty BNmum x

My Follow up consultation on Thursday went ok, I can try again Smile x

StrawberryMojito · 24/08/2013 21:01

Cheers all. I've had a few flashing smileys and I've run out of the CB OPKs. I've got some cheap ones which I'll use instead, they have worked so far.

Guess what, I've had my first session of acupuncture today (maybe not such a relaxed month Blush. It was good and I have a few more booked so we'll see how it goes.

Hopefully BN, you are coming to the end of your ms now. Do you have any preferences about what you have. What about you tea?

Thanks Kab, we dtd last night, I think we'll probably do it every other night until positive opk. Seems to cover all bases. I hope your scan on Monday goes well.

BNmum · 25/08/2013 09:01

Great news business, where are you in your cycle?

Hi strawbs, how did you find the acupuncture? Did it hurt or was it relaxing? How many sessions will you have? I hope you get a positive OPK soon.

Have you had anymore reflexology blue?

We don't have a preference to be honest, I just hoping for an easy birth and a healthy baby. There's positives to either sex. A dd would mean one of each which would be nice and another ds would mean that 2 boys could play along together and I can't help but smile at the thought of another little monkey just like the one I already have. We didn't know what we were having last time but I had a strong feeling it was a DS, it's too early for me to guess this time and I'm not sure if we'll find it beforehand. What will you do tea?

I hope it goes well tomorrow kab

Tea1Sugar · 25/08/2013 09:33

Wow how was the acupuncture?

BN, I'll find out as I have no willpower! I really don't mind though an inkling reckons this one is blue which would be lovely to have one of each, but two girls would be really cute too!

blueamber · 25/08/2013 09:44

Hi everyone. I never got a temp rise so I never ovulated. Feeling really low. There must be something wrong, such as pcos, which ties in with my acne. I'm going back to the GP next month. Hopefully he'll do some tests but to be fair I'll not leave his office until he agrees, because its just too emotionally draining.
