Advice re OPK please-very early smiley face

StrawberryMojito · 02/06/2013 09:49

This is my second month using an OPK (clearblue digital that tells you when you are both high and peak fertility). Last month I didn't get a high fertility sign at all (flashing smiley face), it just went straight to peak fertility (fixed smiley face). This was on day 12 which was a couple of days earlier than expected but still seemed normal.

I only finished my period a couple of days ago but started using the opk straight away as my cycles vary a bit (26-30 days). Today (day 8) I got a high fertlity sign. Surely this is too early?

So, we had sex last night just for fun rather than baby making but now I'm thinking should we do it again tonight as I got the high (but not peak) fertility sign or shall we just start doing it every other day until I get the peak fertility smiley face. I don't want to exhaust DH and his swimmers but don't want to miss the window either.

Hi I've been recommended this thread so may I join? Grin I'm
Ttc no 2 cycle 2 off the pill. My period returned quickly after 25 days and now in the second cycle I've had flashing smilies days 7 and 8 which seems very early. Has anyone had several days of them before peak?

blueamber · 25/07/2013 07:56

Hi tea, we meet again Smile. Are you using the advanced opk rather than the monitor? Even though the opk says they give you two days of flashing smilies, it could actually last 4-5 days. Or even longer in my case, but that's only because my cycle hasn't established itself yet after the pill, unlike yours. But if your cycle stays at 25 days, then having a fixed earlier on fits with that.

Well I still didn't get my fixed smiley, but that's because the stupid opk took yesterday as the base line when levels were already elevated. I just checked the lines and they are similar to when I got a fixed last month. So I consider it as a fixed! Yay! Now I hope that this time it will actually result in ov, so fingers crossed for a temp rise in the next few days.

I am knackered today though! My oh made me 2 cups of tea yesterday, but he gave me regular tea, whilst I have been on decaf for 3 months now. I must have become sensitive to caffeine, because I couldn't sleep last night! Was lying there awake for hours listening to my oh happily sleeping...

blueamber · 25/07/2013 08:04

Oh and thanks for all your experiences with telling others about ttc. I'm not super close to my dad, I don't usually share personal things with him expect illnesses or something, but my brother has always told us when they are ttc. I guess it's different for the woman though, it's a lot more emotional and personal perhaps. I think I'll not tell him for now.

Tea1Sugar · 25/07/2013 08:47

Hi blue Grin Ah cool thanks, well I'll hope for a fixed on sunday, that'd be cd11 which as you say, should fit in with my cycle. Here's hoping! Happy dtd!

First day of school holidays - yay to 7 weeks of work Grin

BNmum · 25/07/2013 09:06

Hi tea and welcome!

Whoop whoop! For your fixed blue, I hope you recover enough to dtd lots over the next few days. Happy humping!

How's things with everyone else? Any BFPs, afs or fixed smileys?

Bambi27 · 25/07/2013 10:10

Hi again tea, yes I had lots of flashing and phoned helpline and lady said it was normal! (Thanks for putting that I the bloody box!!!) hope you all get your fixed soon but if you Dtd every other while flashing lady said that will cover you if it doesn't for some reason turn fixed!!

Bnmum glad to see you're doing well!

No af yet just to keep everyone updated!! Haven't tested today as really don't think I have any chance will do one Tomo morning so I know I'm okay to drink at wedding at weekend!!

BNmum · 25/07/2013 10:16

Truth be told bambi I feel awful, I'm so nauseous and tired but trying not to think about it too much.

Bambi27 · 25/07/2013 12:40

Oh rubbish Bnmum! Hopefully you are further along than you think like the doc thinks and it'll pass by 12 weeks??!! Fingers crossed!! Xx

BNmum · 25/07/2013 13:21

Does it usually pass by 12weeks bambi? Like I say I don't remember feeling like this with #1, although hubby said I was (I'm sure he's made that up!).

How are you feeling today?

Bambi27 · 25/07/2013 13:32

Pretty down by this waiting in limbo business but not much I can do!!

Yes most people passes by 12 weeks but for me was about 20 :(

Bambi27 · 25/07/2013 14:25

Also soooo tired this afternoon, thinks the mind in constant overdrive as well as the weather! Trying to have a lay down to dd. not working!! Wine Needed this weekend!!!

BNmum · 25/07/2013 17:36

No wonder you are feeling worn down by it all, do you think your ov could have been delayed? Yeah, I also tried to have a lie down when DS had a snooze, it didn't work at all, I think he may be trying to get rid of his lunchtime nap. NNNOOOOOOO!!

Bambi27 · 25/07/2013 19:11

My dd already doesn't have a nap so was trying to tempt her into my bed to watch cartoons! Ha ha! Didn't work!! Well I suppose either way I must have ov late or i would have had af? So depends if hubbies swimmers lastest very long in there! Think I'm out tho! Didn't test today so not tested with fmu for over 2 days so will test in the morning and not going to wee all night as then will definitely have fmu!! If negative defo out and will book into doctors next week!!

StrawberryMojito · 25/07/2013 19:31

Hi Tea, welcome to the thread.

I have had my 3rd day of flashing smileys and I'm really hoping I get my peak tomorrow as I am using leftover sticks and tomorrow is my last one. If I don't peak tomorrow I will have to buy some more and I really don't want to do that. I have managed to take my temp before DS wakes up for the last 3 mornings though, it's not really telling me much at the moment.

Poor you BN, it is horrid. I'm not sure I should tell you this but the nausea didn't go for me until 14 weeks. I remember thinking "but they promised me I would feel better by 12 weeks!" I think someone else has already said it upthread but it means that your body is producing the right amount of hormones to maintain the pregnancy so try and see it as reassuring.

Bambi, sorry you're feeling fed up, I can understand why though. Lets hope that you get some closure on this cycle one way or the other tomorrow and you can go and have a few glasses of wine (or get the result that means you can't!).

Thanks strawberry! Here's hoping!!

Also hoping you get your fixed!!! Xxx

charleylarlie · 25/07/2013 20:05

Welcome tea1sugar!

Glad you were able to compare the lines, Blue, hope you manage to dtd lots now!

MS is a good sign, BNmum, even if it doesn't always feel like it. I think mine cleared up at about 15 weeks, though theydo say that it's usually more like 12.

really feel for you, Bambi. Must be awful waiting. Hope you can either draw a line under this month or celebrate tomorrow. Hoping for the latter for you, but at least you can drink at the wedding if not.

How are you, Business?

Good luck for a fixed tomorrow, Strawberry. Hoping I get one too. Didn't manage to dtd today as DP got performance anxiety. Think he's stressed out. Hope it's better tomorrow, as I don't hold out much hope for dtd for the rest of the month if not. Sad

Tea1Sugar · 25/07/2013 20:05

Thanks for the welcomes Smile strawberry fingers crossed for your fixed tomorrow! Im not holding out hope for one til Sunday/Monday.

Is it just me, or is anyone else worried about giving their oh "burn out" by dtd too much too early?! I don't want him to be knackered and miss actual O! Blush i reckon will dtd every other day whilst getting flashes. Thursday is always out anyway as he plays football. So tonight I have a hot date with a bath and the tv remote!

StrawberryMojito · 25/07/2013 20:30

I totally get what you mean tea. It is hard to stop it becoming a chore and I worry that if I put all these demands on him too early, he'll get too tired of it all and refuse by the crucial time. I think that sort of happened last month (along with work commitments) but then he seemed to really regret it and is v committed to the cause this month! We are also doing every other day at the moment until peak fertility then will do it for 2-3 days. It's not so much the amount of sex that is the problem, it is feeling like you 'have' to do it when you don't want to. It's not very romantic.

Did my post get posted, coz i cant see it Confused

businessadmin · 26/07/2013 01:53

Hi everyone,

Im suppose to be due AF 25th july, no show up to now.

I feel like period symptoms, crampy tummy, achey boobs.

I done a PG CB test with morning urine on 23rd july and there was faint thin line on the cross. but done one morning urine with no 25th july and it was negative.

businessadmin · 26/07/2013 01:58

but done one on 25th july with second urine , i meant to say Smile

Tea1Sugar · 26/07/2013 06:54

Hi business. Hmm, defo go poas again!

Cd9 for me and third flashing smiley. In the food shop yesterday I bought one of those chinese "takeaway" for two from sainsburys so that's going to hopefully set dp up to dtd after Grin

charleylarlie · 26/07/2013 07:10

Yay, the faint line is a good sign, Business! As Tea says, def try again this morning with first urine.

I agree about the pressure to dtd. I always panic and want to start straight trying again immediately after AF has finished just in case I ov really early! This month seems unbearable though, as DP can't get in the mood. We gave up dtd last night as it just wasn't happening. I think trying the smep plan this month might be out of the question. Starting to get rather stressed out by the whole ttc business. Sad

Another flashing smiley for me today (cd12) and the 2nd line is getting darker. Not sure if we will be dtd today though. Depends on DP. Am wondering whether it might be a better idea to skip today and try tomorrow instead, although it will then be 4 days in between shags.

So frustrating.

Bambi27 · 26/07/2013 08:06

Oh business sounds promising poas already and let us know ;)

I completely sympathise with Dtd when it becomes a chore! It's the way you 'have' to!

Well poas at 5am cus was desperate and wanted a true fmu and it was neg so a fun weekend ahead of wedding and drinking. :)

BNmum · 26/07/2013 08:11

Morning ladies,

Have you tested again this morning business? Fingers crossed!

I hope you get your fixed soon charley and tea, have you had any luck this morning strawbs? I would dtd today if you can charley simply because DH's confidence might be battered after yesterday and it might help his performance if he can 'go all the way'. I'd want to tackle that before my peak arrived but you know him best so if you feel he'd be better with a rest then I'd go with that.

Any news your end bambi?
How's things with you blue?

Thanks for all the ms info, I'm hoping its no more than 12weeks. I had a really bad day yesterday. DS had a messy 'poo' accident which really tested my stomach. We both ended up in the bath as it got everywhere and I could seem to get rid of it. I also woke with a start at 2am thinking I was going to vomit everywhere. Does anyone have any tips on things that helped to settle their stomach when feeling like this?
