Advice re OPK please-very early smiley face

This is my second month using an OPK (clearblue digital that tells you when you are both high and peak fertility). Last month I didn't get a high fertility sign at all (flashing smiley face), it just went straight to peak fertility (fixed smiley face). This was on day 12 which was a couple of days earlier than expected but still seemed normal.

I only finished my period a couple of days ago but started using the opk straight away as my cycles vary a bit (26-30 days). Today (day 8) I got a high fertlity sign. Surely this is too early?

So, we had sex last night just for fun rather than baby making but now I'm thinking should we do it again tonight as I got the high (but not peak) fertility sign or shall we just start doing it every other day until I get the peak fertility smiley face. I don't want to exhaust DH and his swimmers but don't want to miss the window either.

No af but I caved and tested and bfn so not looking hopeful!!

Bambi27 · 20/07/2013 20:38

Thanks tho!! X

Exciting Bambi...two bfps in one month would be great!

Nothing to report from me really, I'm going to start with the OPKs tomorrow morning which will be CD8 for me. I probably should have started today but I'm trying to conserve the sticks as I only have 6 and would rather not buy another pack. I'm taking my vits and have cut out alcohol, I'm not sure what else I can do (apart from have lots of sex this week obviously).

Charley...I think it was you who said you were temping? I bought a bbt thermometer last month but haven't used it as I read that you have to take your temp before you even get out of bed in the morning, but I wake when Ds wakes and cries for us (why can't he just call mummy-he always makes me jump a mile) and then I'm straight out of bed, I don't have time to hang around taking a temp. How are you managing with your LO. Would it matter if I did it once I had got him settled with his milk downstairs?

How are you BN? Has it sunk in yet? Have you told anyone other than DH?

Oh, the good news is that I no longer have an away from home commitment on Thursday night so have an extra window of opportunity.

Not really exciting as bfn on day af is due means I'm pretty much out so af would be quite welcome so I cans start next month!! Hey ho! Glad you can Dtd to your hearts content now!!

charleylarlie · 20/07/2013 21:12

Strawberry, with the temping, you need to take it as soon as you wake, after three or more hours sleep, ideally before you've sat up. I tend to take mine if I wake in the early hours, between 5 and 6, write it down and then go back to sleep until DS gets out of bed and starts banging things. It's a bit of a pain, esp on the opk days too, but I did notice a leap after ov last month that stayed high for a few days (alas, didn't stay high though, as that can be a sign of pg).

Also, temping doesn't tell you before you ov, it only tells you when you've already ov'd, but may give you a more accurate indication of your luteal phase. You can also enter the details into websites like fertility friend or ovufriend and it will calculate it all for you. Hope that helps, any other questions let me know, or I can always look it up in my fertility book!

Fingers crossed for tomorrow, Bambi!

charleylarlie · 20/07/2013 21:21

P.S. I am also starting to tomorrow with the opks, Strawberry. Will be cd6 for me. Going to start dtd tomorrow too to give us a good headstart! Wink

StrawberryMojito · 21/07/2013 05:32

Thanks Charley, I used an opk this morning which was negative as expected but we still plan to dtd as I read that it will make DH regenerate his sperm so all the good new stuff is ready for action on Tuesday when my fertile window should be open. I'll try temping but DS is waking at 5am at the moment and I rarely wake earlier. I'm not sure I can bring myself to set an alarm for it!

Bambi, good luck with the test. If it is bfn again, lets hope af comes quickly.

charleylarlie · 21/07/2013 07:28

I don't blame you not wanting to temp earlier, Strawberry. Sleep is more important! Not sure if there is a way to do it later in the day. I'll have a look what the book says.

Cd6 for me and started testing. Like you I got a big fat circle for the first day.

Have you tested again, Bambi?

Any more symptoms, Business?

How are you feeling, BNmum? Got over the shock yet? Hope no sickness!

How are you, Blueamber?

Bambi27 · 21/07/2013 17:29

Thanks guys! Still no af but I haven't tested today, didn't have any tests in the house. I bought some cheapy tesco ones whilst I was out so if af hasn't arrived by tomorrow I will test with fmu! As yesterday I didn't test with fmu and was a cheap test that said you can't test until day of missed period so may as well wait until morning now as will be more of a definite answer! How you guys all getting on? Any fixed smileys? Buisness any news? How you feeling Bnmum? Xx

Bambi27 · 21/07/2013 18:57

Eugh the wait is killing me! I wish af would just hurry up (or better still I'd get a bfp tomorrow!!!)

BNmum · 21/07/2013 20:30

I'm hoping you get the latter bambi Wink

Hopefully there'll be some fixed smileys for charley and strawberry. Temping sounds like hard work which explains why I didn't bother with it. charley you sound very dedicated and organised!

Have you had your fixed smiley this weekend blue?

How's things business, have you tested?

I haven't told anyone in rl about the pregnancy, just the whole world via mumsnet! Grin I was feeling like normal with no symptoms at all until this weekend and then boom the nausea hit with vengeance. I've been feeling rotten and it has been lasting all day, if anything it seems to get worse in the evenings! This has come as a huge surprise as I didn't suffer any sickness with #1. I'm hoping its short lived!

Bambi27 · 21/07/2013 20:43

Ah thanks Bnmum me to! I literally have no signs of af and been feeling grotty all day with sore boobs but I'm sure she'll rear her ugly head over night!!

That sucks that you're not feeling well :( hopefully its disappears soon! Only positive way to look at it is that nausea is normally a sign of a healthy pregnancy they say!!! X

businessadmin · 21/07/2013 23:35

No more symptoms charley.

I tested Saturday BNmum, still BFN Sad.

I was suppose to test to-day, but tested saturday instead, im not gona bother testing now, just see if AF appears. I really think im out of seeing a BFP Sad

businessadmin · 21/07/2013 23:44

I ad a little dots of red on the toilet tissue on wednesday,

I dont think they were already there!

It could be nowt Confused.

Bambi27 · 22/07/2013 07:54

Just done test and bfn :( still no af either! Oh gosh so annoying!!

Bambi27 · 22/07/2013 07:54

Business hope af or bfp turns up for you soon! So horrible waiting!!

charleylarlie · 22/07/2013 09:25

Bambi, it's awful waiting, hope you find out soon.

Business, it could be implantation bleeding, you never know! I had it when I was pg with DS, about a week before AF was due.

Well, I got another empty circle when I used cb digi this morning. I don't know why but feel a bit miffed. It's only cd7 so am prob getting ahead of myself, although last month was already on flashing smileys and the month before got fixed on cd8. Started dtd last night just to be on the safe side, but will prob leave it a few days now.

Bambi27 · 22/07/2013 11:23

Thanks charley! I hope so to! Not holding out any hope for bfp now but really want af to hurry up!! I've got a wedding sat and would rather not be in full af swing!! At least I can drink I suppose!! Every cloud... Business I agree could be implantation, I had that with first around time af was due! Fingers crossed xx

Bambi27 · 22/07/2013 11:25

Also early days for a smiley so don't give up hope!! I'm sure it will be blinking at you Tomo and fixed soon!! Xx

charleylarlie · 22/07/2013 11:57

Thanks Bambi, I'm sure you're right.

Morning sickness is pants, BNmum. I had it from about weeks 7 with DS and for a few weeks I could only eat Pot Noodles and drink Lucozade! Hope it passes soon. X

blueamber · 22/07/2013 12:36

Bambi, hope you find out soon what's happening, hopefully through a bfp.

Charley, hope you get your blinkies soon!

BNmum, hope the sickness doesn't get too bad.

I am still getting blinkies, six days or something in a row. Went to see the GP this morning and got the old 'it can take six months or more for your cycles to re-establish themselves after the pill; come back in a few months'. Noooooo! Sad

When I asked about progesterone to kickstart my cycles he said he had never prescribed it himself, I would have to be referred to hospital and he thought by the time I got seen I would have had my period. Wishful thinking!

I feel so frustrated, now I have to wait and wait even more and every week I get more and more upset. I just have to hold faith that my body will be okay and there isn't an underlying problem.

The GP even asked: 'Are you in a hurry?'. I am sure every woman who starts ttc is in a hurry!

BNmum · 22/07/2013 14:18

Hi ladies,

Here's hoping there's some bfp's on their way business and bambi.

All I can think about is ice cold lucozade charley, I could just stick my head in a bucket load of it, Slurp!
I'm sure the flashing and solid aren't too far away.

Sorry to here that you haven't got your solid this weekend blue and that you saw an insensitive Dr. There's a big difference between getting impatient because you haven't conceived and getting impatient because your body isn't giving you the chance to conceive! I would always get frustrated comparing myself to others who had a regular cycle and thinking bloody useless body is only giving me half the chances of everyone else. All I would say is remember that flashing smileys indicate pre-ovulation so you havent missed your opportunity, keep testing and remember I had almost 20 days worth of flashies before I ovulated and conceived.

blueamber · 22/07/2013 15:34

I didn't know you got 20 days of flashing smileys! That gives me some hope, although I might have to put a new order for sticks in Smile.

Hopefully I will eventually get that steady smile, and then actually ovulate this time. Last time I went from low to peak, but didn't actually ov. I have started taking my temperature, so that should tell me if ov happened the day after.

BNmum · 22/07/2013 16:23

I've exaggerated a bit (but not much) and it was stop-start as I didn't know what was going on. I started testing cd8 (as cycle is irregular) and only got fixed smiley on cd24, i then stopped opks for 2 weeks and waited for af. When af didn't arrive and got a -ve hpt I started with the opks again on cd38 and got my 2nd fixed on cd41. If I wasn't using opks I wouldn't have had a clue what the hell was going on!
