I went to the Doc about 6 weeks ago. They said to come back at 6 months but they're unlikely to be able to do anything to help. He said they can give me drugs to make me bleed but not Ovulate. So what is Clomid?
Is it normal that I should wait so long for any investigations? Aside from TTC isn't the fact that I'm not having a period at all a bad thing for my body/hormones?
I'm worried that I've been fobbed off by the doc because we haven't been 'trying' long enough. Clearly it doesn't matter how much we DTD if I'm not ovulating though (can you Ovulate but not have a period without being pregnant?)
Is there anyone else here with no cycle at all? and how long did you have to wait for them to refer you for tests?

Sorry, that's a lot of questions Sad I feel very alone in this.

Hi,

I'm in the same position too. I had my implant out early November 2018 and I still haven't any bleeding, but with me I had regular bleeding whilst on the implant for the last 6 month prior to it coming out and also was bleeding less than a week before my implant came out. I spoke to my doctor about a month ago and she just was insistent that I am pregnant and told me I am to take tests every week until it either shows i'm pregnant or until 6 months. It's just so infuriating, cos it's not that we can't fall, it's that I don't know whether we have any issues or not.

Hi... I have attended fertility clinic after being referred by my GP, and at that appointment I was told I had fibroids in my ovarys but she said it in a good way. I still haven’t had period . So back again to fertility clinic 12th March to see what happens now.. i rest every other day for ovulation and I never get a positive or anywhere near it. I do pregnancy tests all the time too and never get a positive .. so I’m hoping when I go back they will have all my blood results , and they will give me some more information as to what I do now. Myself and my partner are so desperate for a child. And we have been trying for well over year now. I just find it strange that they don’t tell you any of this when you get implant in. I would never get it in again .. I got mine out jan 2018, had a period March , may , June, September and that’s been it . Xx

Lou1991 - just saw your comment thought I’d share my experience, I’ve just had my implanon out on 5th March 2019. I had it for 8yrs total (2 for 3yrs each and 1 for 2yrs). I’ve pretty much always had a regular period whilst on the implanon! For the last 6months while having my implanon still in I tracked in on an app and I got a period every month...my cycles adveraged 29days!
Now I’ve had it out I haven’t had a period yet but due to get it next week, so we’ll see what happens!

Lou1991 · 18/03/2019 20:49

Update from me 10 weeks after implanon removal still no periods no bfp I’m going to book an appointment to the doctor next week and get bloods done.. I don’t even feel like I’m going to get a period soon and I don’t feel pregnant.. still taking prenatal vitamins

louloulollipop · 19/03/2019 08:53

Been over 4 months now for me and no periods and negatives still on tests.

Went to the doctors who told me they won't do anything until 3 months, sometimes 6 months. She sent me for a scan to see if I had cysts or PCOS. I have a cyst on my ovary, but this shouldn't be causing no periods, so they have now given me Provera for 5 days (a medroxyprogesterone) which should kick start my periods. If I have a breakthrough bleed off the back of these tablets, I am then to have another natural period before the 6 month mark. If I haven't they will then do bloods and further investigation.

She said to me weight loss/gain, any stress are things that can really affect periods and told me not to worry about it.

louloulollipop · 19/03/2019 08:53

On another note - don't think i've ever wanted a period so much in my life!

louloulollipop · 28/03/2019 10:25

Finished the Provera tablets, and I started AF very lightly yesterday - very heavy today however. Still will have to have a natural period off the back of this to be considered normal again.

callypally · 30/03/2019 08:04

Hi @louloulollipop hope you don't mind me chiming in, Ive also recently been prescribed Provera to help bring my periods back again (5 months without them!)

I came off the pill in June last year and my periods were all over the place, but to be honest they were irregular before going onto the pill too. So I'm now being investigated for PCOS (got a scan coming up shortly to look for cysts etc)

I know your feeling, never been happier to see my period haha!
How has your period been on it?
I've had my first cycle of it (7 days at 10mg) my period was surprisingly light though and only 3 days with day 4 as more spotting. I thought it would be terrible as my first one in 5 months!

My doctor also said that hopefully the Provera will kick start the body into a normal cycle, so fingers crossed!

Let me know how you get on with the Provera!

louloulollipop · 01/04/2019 09:16

Hi @callypally,

After having my implant out in Nov I hadn't had periods for just shy of 5 months either.

I was on a 5 day course of 10mg. AF has been soooo heavy, and I've had really bad cramping on it too, but I was heavy before (maybe not this much though). Will just obviously have to wait for a natural cycle. I think I will test for ovulation when i'm meant to be.

Hubby is so desperate for children and I totally feel like i'm letting him down. Just hope this has been the kick my body needed.

Let me know how you get on.

callypally · 01/04/2019 21:06

Hi @louloulollipop
Oh dear, doesn't sound too fun it being super heavy!
I suppose I've always had relatively light periods, although not as light as that though. I'm due to start taking my second months worth on Saturday.. so we'll see what the next cycle is like!

I'm currently on cycle day 18, I've been using the opk sticks every other day since day 13, but all of them negative.. so I don't think that I'm ovulating. Not sure if I started doing them too late, but maybe I am being a little ambitious for my first cycle. It is disappointing though.

I had slightly abnormal blood tests results though on my "day 2" blood test, so currently being investigated into PCOS.

Have you been given a couple of months of Provera? Or just the one to kick start a cycle?

I used to have irregular periods before going on the pill, so I've been given 3 months worth to try and kick start a "normal" cycle!

Clarab247 · 01/04/2019 22:40

I was at fertility clinic last month , been diagnosed with PCO and I was saying that I used the ovulation sticks, she told me they were waste of money. As people with pco wouldn’t get a positive . Iv still not had a period since last July I think it was .. Iv to go back to clinic in July to start fertility treatment and hopefully get medication to help me ovulate x

louloulollipop · 02/04/2019 09:44

I've only been given one lot of Provera, cos she wants me to see if I have a natural cycle, and if I don't we will then do further tests.

I've had an ultrasound already so they 98% sure I don't have PCOS. But I did have one fairly large cyst on my right ovary.

We'll see what happens. Mr Dr did say to me as well, we are considered as trying from the moment my implant came out, even though I haven't had periods, which was good to hear, and if I don't have a period after this one, I will be sent for further tests straight away. FX

Lou1991 · 04/04/2019 18:51

Hey everyone still here and still nothing 3 months gone by this week after implanon removal and no sign of a period or a bfp have been taking prenatal vitamins since removal also taking 2000mg evening primrose oil since last Friday and you guessed it nothing has happened only that in the last two days I have been feeling very wet down there (sorry tmi). Been to the doctors she said come back in when I get to four months without periods for bloods and a chat to see what she can give me to kick start periods. Sick of feeling not normal now I always had normal periods before implant don’t know about ovulation as I never checked or noticed before hand

louloulollipop · 05/04/2019 09:01

Hi @Lou1991, I had the same thing as you, in terms of how I felt down there. It was strange. It was that bad I thought I was bleeding and then when I'd go and check it out, was surprised to see what was actually there....

I've come to the end of this breakthrough bleed, which was 9 days long, I was very very heavy for 7 of those! Hopefully they can give you something to help kickstart, just hoping that's what these tablets have done for me, although she said they give these to people with PCOS, as they should have a period at least 3 times a year for health reasons, but it doesn't cause them to have a normal cycle, so we will see next month.

callypally · 09/05/2019 23:09

Hi @louloulollipop how has it gone after your first round of Provera?
Oh dear that sounds horrible how heavy it was! Have you had a natural period since then?
I've been confirmed as having PCOS, will be starting my 3rd month of Provera in a couple of days, but still no bfp for me just yet, should hopefully have my next infertility appointment in a couple of months after I've had my hycosy scan (the scan with the dye!)
Thanks for sharing the info about the ovulation sticks @Clarab247 I've used them a little but never get a positive, so must be the PCOS! Have you started any treatments for it?

Clarab247 · 10/05/2019 07:07

Hi. I have my hycosy test on Monday and then back to clinic again 2nd July to start treatment, I have to go into clinic today for bloods to ensure I am not pregnant before hycosy on Monday . X

Lou1991 · 10/05/2019 13:12

UPDATE
Hi everyone I finally got my first period after implant removal four months ago 7th January 2019 got the period on its own no medication needed, I got my period on the 5th of may and just finish today 10th may, so now I’m going to get ovulation kits to see if I’m ovulating or not and see how long I have to wait for my next period to come. Fingers crossed it will be regular again

Clarab247 · 10/05/2019 13:47

I got my period on the March after implant removed the January then had one may and that was it and not had it since.. hopefully u r regular 🙏🏻Xx

louloulollipop · 11/06/2019 15:31

UPDATE:

I had my first natural period, Weds 22nd May 6 months and 1 week after my implant was removed. As I have been blood tested and tested for PCOS they have told me my hormone levels are normal and as expected so I should just be back to normal now.

The Dr did say strange things to me though. I am overweight, and she told me not to lose weight just for this which I thought was strange. (I am trying to lose weight however), and that as the implant was removed it can cause no affect on my body and wouldn't be the reason why I wasn't having a period. Both things I find very strange to be said by a Dr, when I have had others say all forms of contraception can take a while for your body to regulate again after.

I will let you know if I have another natural AF!

louloulollipop · 26/06/2019 13:29

Further Update:

I had a 23 day cycle - very short for me. I'll see if I become regular!

tinacard60 · 14/10/2019 04:10

Mrsj1s · 20/10/2019 02:22

Okay so I had my implant removed December 2018. My period was pretty consistent until June then I missed July. My period came in August and then I haven't had it since. I go see my PCM Tuesday and I plan on talking to her about it. I have 2 kids and would like to start working on the third. I was told that I had cyst but nothing alarming.

Mrsj1s · 22/10/2019 09:13

Update 10/19/19

So if finally came. It appears my body is doing a every other month thing. I also have been taking a birth control cleanse drink (I am not sure if it's helping). I've been drinking that for the past week in attempts to become regular.

Skinner1234 · 23/11/2019 19:06

Hey there ladies. I’m 22 and had been on Nexplanon for just about 5 years before I got it removed in June of this year. I have been driving myself absolutely insane with all of the possibilities of why I wouldn’t be getting my period. It’s been almost 6 months now and officially consider myself a google hypochondriac. I’ve been to the doctor and they did blood work that all came back normal. I now have another appointment this coming Wednesday to see what could be going on. With all of these result from you guys I’m feeling better that my body might just need more time to adjust to the hormonal change. Wish me luck Smile

Dominic23 · 27/01/2020 02:38

On 10 months of only two periods and it’s been 6 since the last. I have 6 kids this be really messed me up. Just finished 10 days of provera praying for a miracle
