I went to the Doc about 6 weeks ago. They said to come back at 6 months but they're unlikely to be able to do anything to help. He said they can give me drugs to make me bleed but not Ovulate. So what is Clomid?
Is it normal that I should wait so long for any investigations? Aside from TTC isn't the fact that I'm not having a period at all a bad thing for my body/hormones?
I'm worried that I've been fobbed off by the doc because we haven't been 'trying' long enough. Clearly it doesn't matter how much we DTD if I'm not ovulating though (can you Ovulate but not have a period without being pregnant?)
Is there anyone else here with no cycle at all? and how long did you have to wait for them to refer you for tests?

Sorry, that's a lot of questions Sad I feel very alone in this.

Hey - didn't want to read and run.

I wouldn't worry if the Dr isn't worried/concerned. I doubt it's bad for you as such, I imagine you haven't had a period yet as your natural hormones are still sorting themselves out so you haven't had the correct fluctuations that would cause the lining to develop and then bring on a period.

It is possible that you could ovulate as you wouldn't have a period till after ovulation anyway, so long as the lining of your womb has built up enough for implantation I don't see why you couldn't get pregnant without having a period.

I'm not a professional and I am just speculating, I would trust your Dr, however if they make you feel uncomfortable or that you are wasting their time then you should ask for someone else next time. No Dr should make you feel like your concern is stupid and they should explain to you why it is nothing to worry about.

Oodledoodledoo · 29/05/2013 16:35

Thanks for replying. I'm sure I'm worrying over nothing but it's hard to relax and enjoy trying when I have no idea if we're DTD close enough to when ovulation might actually happen. The Dr wasn't too bad but I did feel slightly fobbed off being told that no drugs can make you ovulate - not that I asked mind, still a bit early for that. I was hoping that I'd get sent for some blood tests or something. 4 months doesn't sound long written down but it feels long and I'm also thinking ahead that I've potentially got another year until they'll even consider any tests. It sounds like I might be a bit impatient but if I am going to have problems I want to know now what it is and what I can possibly do myself to make things work better. Like diet, herbal remedies, vitamins.

Hi, i was on the depo jab for six years and came off six months ago. Not had a period since. This is not unusual apparently and it can take up to a year for periods to restart. When i mentioned it to dr last week he sent me for blood tests to check for any hormone problems, 'given my age' (35) He said if i was in my 20's they wouldn't have done blood tests so soon. So maybe in a couple of months go back and ask for blood tests

Souper · 29/05/2013 16:49

Do you know for definite that you are not pregnant already? I didn't have a period when I had my implant taken out, then found out I was already pregnant! I hadn't fallen pregnant on the implant, just to clarify.

By the way, I really don't like it when people say they have been 'fobbed off' by their GP. What reason would your doctor have to send you away without the right treatment?

Oodledoodledoo · 29/05/2013 21:47

Thanks for replies. I know I'm not pregnant- many wasted tests to prove it over the last few months.

I had an experience with a number of GP's, when I was a child, which could have cost me my life. Fortunately I had an experience with another GP who sent me to hospital straight away. Since then I'm inclined to want a second opinion but I'm happy to accept that this particular Dr has advised well enough.

I'm annoyed about the contraception thing as if I'd known it might take a while for things to get 'back to normal', I would have had it taken out a year ago.
I guess there's not much I can do other than keep DTD and POAS

Hi,

I had a 73 day cycle when I came off my implant. Then had a few 5 weekers eventually settled down to every 4 weeks ish. If your unhappy go back. But the clinic told me could be up to 12 months as with other posters.

Oodledoodledoo · 14/06/2013 13:27

Just in case any lurkers were hoping for an update. After a BFN this morning I started getting cramps and spotting so looks like my first AF is here.
I'm a bit disappointed because I'd convinced myself I might be pregnant these last 2 weeks. I had some EWCM then nausea then 10 days of tingly boobs. Obviously symptoms of Ovulation then lead up to AF.
Oh well, at least it means things might be getting back to normal.

Lou1991 · 05/01/2019 14:38

Hi jess I’m in the same boat I’m gonna to have my implanon removed on Monday after 6 years I’m 27 years old I’m worried as I had no period in the 6 years while having the implant in scared of not knowing if my periods will come back.. sorry if it’s a personal question but did you have your periods while on the implant
Thank you

Jessfortune · 05/01/2019 14:59

SamT210 · 08/01/2019 20:14

@Lou1991 & @Jessfortune keep me updated! I'm due to have mine out in April 😬

Lou1991 · 08/01/2019 20:31

I’ll definitely keep you updated as I only got my implanon out yesterday hopefully it won’t be too long for things to get back to normal 😀

SamT210 · 09/01/2019 08:58

We are hopefully going to try after our holiday in June, but I'm worried my body will take a while to adjust so I'm toying with the idea of getting it removed earlier (soon!) so I can start tracking my cycles for a few months prior..

Clarab247 · 09/01/2019 12:50

Ho sorry to jump in, I’m new to this ... just want to share my story, I had my girl 2010, got implant in 2011, got implant removed January 2017, after having 2 implants. Throughout whole time I had implant I didn’t have period. So when I got it removed doctor advised it should all go back to normal . So got it removed January 2017, had a period March, may,June and then I have had nothing since. I test every month for ovulation and have never got a positive . Went to my doctor in may. Iv had a few blood tests ( all negative for ovulation) so I have been referred to fertility clinic and to go March , I had internal scan ( nurse said my ovaries had fibroids in them) but didn’t seem concerned by that.. has anyone else waited over a year for periods and ovulation to get back to normal?? Sorry for long post... I don’t seem to be getting answers when I ask..

ktp123 · 10/01/2019 09:04

I didn’t have my period until about 8 months after mine removed

Clarab247 · 10/01/2019 09:57

Oh really.... I haven’t had one since June , did u go back to normal on ur own or did u need help with fertility?? I really hope when I go to clinic in March they give me something to start period and help me ovulate... been ttc for over year now

DepressedTee · 11/01/2019 14:54

Hi. I've had my nexoplan removed September 1st 2018. I'm 37 . I've had it in for 5 years and removed it cos I wanted to try for a baby . Prior to implant I had a reg cycle and have had a child . It's now 5/6 months and I haven't had a period . I've been gp and done blood test which states that I might be premenopausal...cos high fsh...has anyone had this experience .. I just think it's a nightmare cos I was good until nexoplan

DepressedTee · 11/01/2019 14:55

Dud you have blood tests done? I'm really hoping mine comes

Clarab247 · 11/01/2019 16:07

Yes had loads of blood tests done.. my progesterone levels r zero basically 😡 hoping I find out more when I’m back at fertility clinic in March

DepressedTee · 11/01/2019 16:38

I'm going gp just to discuss the latest results and to be referred to a specialist ...I'm going to ask if she can prescribe something to make me bleed...I think once I bleed once I'll be back to normal ...desperate thinking ...what was your fsh level if you don't mind me asking

SamT210 · 11/01/2019 19:15

Did any of you ladies have periods whilst the implant was in? I've been bleeding on and off since September but nothing trackable or regular. everyone I've heard from, their periods stopped completely.. now I'm worried as to why all of a sudden I've started again..

Clarab247 · 11/01/2019 22:38

I had No periods for the whole 7 years , I had a lot of blood tests done at fertility clinic so I will find out results when I go back in March so fingers crossed they give me something to start things up again and will hopeful ovulate... my last readying from 21 progesterone was 0.1 which is actually zero reading so god knows what’s happening. I don’t even get two lines on the ovulation strips

SamT210 · 12/01/2019 10:27

I didn't for the first 5 years, mine is due out in April and since September I just seem to be all over the place with bleeding.. not sure whether that's normal for the last few months or not, I've made an appointment to have it removed early so I can get to know my cycles abit better.. hopefully they will give you something, I read that one lady was given something to make her bleed and then cycles returned to normal.. fx for March 🤞🏽

Clarab247 · 12/01/2019 14:45

Yeh u can get clomid to help start periods ... thanks I’m hopeful for March too x
