As if ttc wasn't nerve wrecking enough, we like the extra challenge of getting that BFP while still breastfeeding a baby or toddler. While this isn't an easy endouvour, it certainly isn't impossible as many graduates on the previous threads prove.

I'm posting a link here for any newcomers about fertility while breastfeeding.

Am also wonderig if you'd like to have some sort of stats for the tread members. I'll just start myself.

Thanks mumof5 !! Sounds like you have a lot on your hands already wow! Smile

eggsnbeans · 06/10/2013 07:28

Sorry to hear about your bfns sebs Sad but you are still early, I got bfn at 12dpo this cycle so definitely don't lose hope! I guess the B6 may delay AF, but only because it's lengthening your LP which is good Smile Definitely need to eat more if you're on a low carb diet, you are still using so much energy making milk!

Are you all set for swi this week blackberry? Grin FX you manage heaps this month Blush

cate- bf shouldn't make any difference to using opks Smile

Well my lurgy has turned into full blown flu Sad Can't remember the last time I felt this bad! Am scared as have been reading about the effects of fever on bubs Sad so really trying not to get my hopes up too much and preparing for bad news at 12 week scan. DH has been so great looking after DD and doing things around the house though so very lucky there Smile

sebsmummy1 · 06/10/2013 08:18

Actually would you believe I am pregnant lol!!! I have a faint BFP on a 10 miu test and have had a dark implantation bleed this morn.

I cannot believe it, have had pretty much a week of symptoms but no blinking confirmation.

Totally totally made up Grin. Baby dust for everyone still waiting. Shows that you can get pregnant with a short luteul phase and breast feeding!!!!

Grin

I would suggest clear blue opks to everyone. The first month I actually knew I was ovulating (much later than I assumed with a short cycle) I conceived. Other months we weren't even BDing at the right times!!

Sorry blackberry I seem to be bleeding out unfortunately. I've had a cry and I feel ok. I think I did conceive but I think due to my hormones beibg whacked my body couldn't sustain it. I guess the egg didn't implant quick enough or something.

All the sign were there. My cervix is still high, I had copious other preg symptoms but unfortunately I now seem to be in full flow AF.

Never mind. There is always next month xxx

To be honest I would much rather have this happen than it happen down the line. So I will continue to use opks and see if my LP increases any. I'm also going to drop a feed when he hits a year and offer cows milk in a sippy cup as an alternative.

catellington · 06/10/2013 21:20

Sebsmummy Sad really disappointed for you. As Blackberry says though it's great that you were able to get pg.

Blackberry I think I'm on day 10. But not sure how long my cycle will be as it's on,y my second. The first was 36 dates. Before dd I used to have cycles between 27-30 days generally.

sebsmummy1 · 06/10/2013 21:31

I think I've made the decision tonight to wean him fully at 12 months. I don't want to but I think at my age, I shouldn't mess around any longer and to be honest he is not really that fussed.

Only problem is I don't really know how to actually do it. So ill have to read up on the best way.

eggsnbeans · 06/10/2013 21:47

Oh no sebs Sad was doing my happy dance for you then saw your next post Sad I've read that most early losses are due to fatal errors in the embryo, so shouldn't be anything to do with hormones (so should have no trouble next month IYSWIM).

I have no idea about weaning either Confused about 2 months ago DD was also really not that fussed, now she has turned into a total boobaholic again. Wants milk aaaaaaaaall the time, but is too distractable to actually drink unless at home in the dark. And my milk supply has plummeted (thank to flu as well as pg) which is making it even worse! I would gradually drop the daytime feeds, then the bedtime feed I guess? No idea how i'll ever stop the morning bf as DD is the devil incarnate until she has had a bf!

I woke up this morning feeling exactly the same weirdly, I too thought id probably had an extreme set of feelings and would feel totally different this morning. As it is I just really want my hormones back.

catellington · 07/10/2013 21:30

How often is seb feeding ATM sebsmummy?

sebsmummy1 · 07/10/2013 21:39

Normally in morn and before bed and not for that long. Sometimes once in the night too.

I tried, and failed to start a new routine tonight. I bought him a new sippy cup and planned to introduce a feed of organic whole milk. Unfortunately he hasn't a clue what to do with a sippy cup, or bottle which we subsequently tried. So I ended up with him feeding from me and falling asleep on boob.

So I have a new plan. I will give him milk in the morning instead, well my OH will!! I think perseverance is key here. I have ordered progesterone cream, am back on the vit B complex and am blimming determined to reign the bf back with a view to stopping soon.

I am calling this 'operation brother'. To my mind I think he will be far more grateful by me giving him a sibling than he ever will me breast feeding him indefinitely.

From the literature I've read it becomes much much more difficult to successfully conceive and sustain a pregnancy whilst breast feeding once you get past 35. Depressing.

Thanks for that blackberry xxx

In going to continue with the evening/night feeds but persevere with the routine change for the morning. I fully suspect that once he gets to grips with the bottle/sippy cup he will be ridiculously easy to fully wean.

I on the other hand had a huge snack of mummy guilt this morning. But I know that is my issue and not his xxx

sebsmummy1 · 08/10/2013 09:28

Smack lol

catellington · 08/10/2013 16:52

Snack of mummy guilt Grin sounds tasty.

I got a flashing smiley face on the opk this morning, but no cm. not really sure what that means but I think it is worth a try Wink

sebsmummy1 · 08/10/2013 17:05

Good luck cat Grin

Is that using the clearblue monitor? I use the digital tests and just got one smiley last month, no flashing. I think I'm gong to start testing a bit later this month, maybe around day 12.

catellington · 08/10/2013 18:41

Yes it's the clear blue digital kit. Think it says flashing smiley is high fertility and non flashing is peak ovulation days. I did test today which is day 12 and yesterday, yesterday was no smile at all!

If so I just don't remember a flashing smiley ever being mentioned in the smiley.
