As if ttc wasn't nerve wrecking enough, we like the extra challenge of getting that BFP while still breastfeeding a baby or toddler. While this isn't an easy endouvour, it certainly isn't impossible as many graduates on the previous threads prove.

I'm posting a link here for any newcomers about fertility while breastfeeding.

Am also wonderig if you'd like to have some sort of stats for the tread members. I'll just start myself.

For about a year. Just woke up with a raging thirst and need to pee lol, hoping its a good sign. On the TWW atm lol.

With my son being three, I'd really love a little brother or sister for him to play with. So hoping to conceive soonish.

eggsnbeans · 16/07/2013 05:28

Hi Cakes and LithaR. Grin Raging thirst and needing to pee were my first signs last time Litha so FX for you!
Cakes, I had implantation bleeding around 9-10dpo with DD,was around the time I used to get AF spotting anyway. I think 2dpo is a bit early (I think it takes about 5-6days for embryo to reach uterus!) for implantation bleeding, but some people get ovulation spotting just post ov? I have been contemplating a moon cup too Blush but given things have been slightly rearranged down there thanks to childbirth, I'm not sure it would work! (Sorry totally TMI!)

Good to hear you're managing despite the heat Wild. Grin We are up for shag-week next week I think so will be the same!

Harriet, sounds like you have another good plan (you always sound so organised!) but FX for AF in July! It sounds like it can't be far away if you are having patches of EWCM... If you manage to get a BFP, you could always increase BF again if DS wants/needs to!

CakesAreNotTheAnswer · 16/07/2013 06:22

Ah, interesting. Never had bloodied mucus before so was possibly being overly optimistic. Maybe I can drag DH off to bed early tonight then ;)

Welcome Litha! Fingers crossed for
you this month!!

That sounds like a really sensible plan Harriet. I still remember you saying on this thread a while back that DS won't remember in years to come exactly how many feeds he had when, but will really love to have a sibling. So true so try not to worry too much about it - difficult I know!

Eggs fingers crossed it is slightly cooler for your 'busy' week next week. Smile

LithaR · 17/07/2013 18:07

I really hope its my month this time. Been using donated sperm so its tricky getting dates and timing right. So if I get lucky this month I can rest up a little bit lol

Will find out either way on the 27th. Good luck ladies, hope for plenty of sticky baby dust for all of us.

Non ttc related post but was wondering if any of you ladies could help... I've been having a lot of trouble feeding DD, mainly in the evening just before bed. She doesn't really seem to want to suck properly, and is doing something weird to my nipples which is totally making me cringe (I have no idea what but it gives me horrible shivers). So no milk comes down, so we both get more and more upset. I can't believe she's not hungry as previous feed is around 2-2.30 and she hasn't eaten anything solids wise for several days.

It's making me feel like I want to give up Bf, which I don't really, but it's making me really anxious and negative Sad

I've done a bit of a mumsnet google Wink and other can't come up with much other than slow let down due to period (not yet), pregnancy (I wish) or antihistamines (nope), but I think it's her weird feeding that's causing it, not my let down (works totally fine when she feeds properly).

Sorry for long rambling post

Wildwaterfalls · 18/07/2013 09:54

Hello Gherkins love the new name Smile! And excellent news on the map front - must have been hard but so encouraging that he managed to get to sleep, and sleep for quite some time too!

Eggs that sounds really frustrating. I've not had the weird feeding behaviour before, but a couple of weeks ago I did have trouble getting DD to settle down to feed in he evening. Got some useful advice from Gherkins at the time. I never quite got to the bottom if what was going on (nursing strike/too hot/me being dehydrated) but importantly it resolved itself after a few days. Really hope it will be the same for you. It could be that DD has discovered a new 'fun' thing to do with the nipple and is just playing a bit, forgetting to feed and then getting frustrated? Mine goes through unhelpful phases of hair pulling, squeezing the other boob, trying to pick my nose (??!) just to explore what she can do but it usually passes quite quickly.

Wildwaterfalls · 18/07/2013 09:55

On the map front??! That should read nap obviously Blush

CakesAreNotTheAnswer · 18/07/2013 10:12

symptom spotting like mad here. blood tinged discharge abd stabby pains of to one side are probably Ovulation, right? I've also been really tearful and had horrid heartburn which I haven't had before except when pregnant so already chomping at the bit of the 2ww.

BlueC2 · 18/07/2013 10:55

Morning all...can I join you lovely ladies? Am on day 2 of AF and just taken my first folic acid ready for the rollercoaster of TTC no. 2. DS is almost 14 months and still having morning and bedtime feeds. My cycles seem to be back to a clockwork 28 days but not sure about ovulation/luteal phase at the moment.

eggs I've also had problems with DS and his bedtime feed for the last few days...pulling off and going for wanders/playtime around his room and taking a lot of encouragement to get back on again. I've been wondering whether he's just been too hot, my hormones doing weird things to my milk just before AF (though never happened before), me not being hydrated enough...really not sure...his other new thing is to poke and play with my nipple - he thinks it's hilarious Hmm

Look forward to sharing this new journey with you all Smile

BlueC2 · 18/07/2013 12:59

cakes I have also started to get heartburn during ovulation, never had it before I had DS but since AF returned I have that joy mid cycle...I had v bad heartburn during pregnancy so it must be hormone related I guess

LithaR · 18/07/2013 18:30

My ds was from a failed relationship, got left when I told the father so he essentially was a sperm donor. So this time I decided to skip the whole break up thing and do it alone anyway lol.

Just hope I hit the jackpot this month.

Wildwaterfalls · 18/07/2013 21:15

Hi Blue lovely that you're joining us! Lucky you with cycles like clockwork... Hopefully it means a BFP for you soon!

In the middle of the 2ww here, but if I'm honest with myself I don't really have any proper symptoms that can't be explained by the heat. Mind you, with DD I had no symptoms whatsoever throughout the pregnancy (other than the bump obviously!).

Eggs how did it go this evening with feeding?

And Litha sorry about your breakup - hopefully everything will be more straightforward for you this time.

Wildwaterfalls · 18/07/2013 21:16

Oh and cakes yes that does sound like ov to me!

LithaR · 18/07/2013 23:11

I'm hoping so too. With my son it was a nightmare, since his dad tried to beg me up until the cut off point to abort.

So this time I decided to cut out all the heart ache and use a sperm donor website. Its been pretty good so far, I know the man that is donating to me is clean and that he doesn't wish for any contact. So in all it will be a more relaxed pregnancy once I get there.

Would be good to enjoy the time being pregnant that I couldn't with my DS.

ugh. sudden and unexpected early af. 8 days! my af is NEVER early.

I thought it was going to be really heavy but now it seems like it won't. I don't get it. my body has gone really unpredictable all of a sudden.

and I have cramps and who wants a wheat bag in this heat? ugh.

LithaR · 20/07/2013 11:57

Mine went the same way Cakes. For about a year my AF was all over the place but since my ds hit three and only has bedtime feeds its really steadied out again.

Although in one of my breastfeeding groups there was a woman there that got pregnant whilst still feeding her 6 month old son. So who knows what the body is doing.

So worried that my symptoms this time are to do with another UTI so been drinking pints of water. Still got symptoms and today I feel exhausted so hoping its a BFP for me later this week. To resist urges to test to early I went and ordered tests from amazon lol.

CakesAreNotTheAnswer · 20/07/2013 22:09

I've been pretty regular since they started again when ds was 13 mo.

Baffled. And kind of upset, I admit it. Was so sure it'd be another Wham bam thank you mam pregnancy. stupid stupid stupid.

I have since of those Amazon tests. so much cheaper when you want to keep treating and retesting. fx for your bfp

Very frustrating for you cakes. I know what you mean re sort of expecting it - I got pregnant really quickly with all three of my pregnancies (DD and 2 mmc) so will be frustrated if it is not the same now.

How is everyone else doing? Any sign of AF Gherkins? And how's the evening feed going eggs?

Still 2ww-ing here. Testing on Thursday if AF doesn't turn up before then. DD having some sort of sleep regression I think and bf-ing half the night frequently.
