Old Fred here

Here we go Brookers, it's been a long year with lots of BFPs and newborn snuggles for the Brookers. We're just a sleigh-ride away from 2013, when the rest of us will get our get our 12 week scans (because of course we will all have BFPs under the christmas tree this year!)

So come all ye brookers, it's tinsel and baubels all the way!

Hi face!! Stop that knicker checking. It's all good.

So, my lining was 8.2mm!!(last month 3.1) so plenty good enough. One fat follie at 25.4 so they gave me a shot of hcg, and iui tomorrow lunchtime!! Grin Grin

Now, I did question the point of the drugs, as I produce a good size follie and lining all on my own, and was given vague murmurings about timing. Ah well.

Wasn't expecting it as soon as tomorrow but apparently smacking the rat last night is fine.

I came back from putting my pants on, in time to hear the Dr telling dh our iui will be tomorrow. So I started to ask if that was OK since we had sex last night, but totally froze, couldn't think what terminology to use, and was so embarrassed. How ridiculous, the man had just been looking up my foof, but I felt like a teenager admitting we'd DTD!! Turns out dh had already asked, and he laughingly came to my rescue, realising what I was trying to say. Grin

Weirdly excited, despite low chance.

keepitgoing · 10/01/2013 07:57

PS, I triggered with hcg, so for the first time ever I suspect I have hcg in my body. Dh suggested I do one of my many preg tests 'to see if they actually work'. It's not the tests not working, love, it's the lack of baby!! Grin

Withalittlesparkle · 10/01/2013 08:08

Keep Thats fabulous news, it looks like it might all be coming together! I think your doc might be right about ensuring correct timing!! squeeeeeee by tomorrow you'll be so far on your way to be diffed its untrue!!! and lol @ you inability to talk about sex in front of your doc, I was the same when I went to see my doc about the irregular periods etc, and my doc asked how often we were dtd and I just blushed and started mumbling!!

Face stop it!!! you're diffed end of!! not that I still pant check everyday or anything

Geek my experience wasn't all favourable BUT I can certainly help you guys avoid the mistakes my twunt father made! And even now I can fully appreciate the love of your parents, so not at all bitter!!

SweetieTime · 10/01/2013 08:11

keep all sounds very exciting for iui - - I would poas just as a reference point for future Wink - - Glad you managed to watch the baby makers too. I haven't seen it yet but have it recorded. Grin Grin at you getting all Blush with the Dr. Brooking super hard for tomorrow for you my dear

face stop that knicker checking, it is pointless as that is bean isn't going anywhere for 8 months. FACT

Geek how are you guys doing this morning after the dust has settled? Hope all is ok. Have I missed the maternity spreadsheet? What on earth is this?

Well I have found a local place that might do sticky blood testing so I am going to give them a call this morning. I know I am probably being over paranoid but with my family history I just want to make sure everything is okay before we go ahead. If it only serves to bring me piece of mind then money well spent in my opinion.

keepitgoing · 10/01/2013 08:20

Family history of m/c sweets?

geek has a week by week finance mat spreadsheet. We tried to catch her out but she's thought of everything - heating being on more, how many washing loads, saving on pubs while preg. Try it, you won't beat her!

SweetieTime · 10/01/2013 08:40

keep it is just me mentalling as we have a very strong family history of thrombosis, strokes and high blood. So I have been worrying this may increase my likelihood of having sticky blood. Although I have never had a miscarriage I have also never been pregnant either. I am just thinking if I get pregnant through my donor ivf only to miscarry from something that could be prevented I would be devastated, of course I would be devastated whatever, and it wastes our very precious chance. The clinic said they would only test if I miscarry but then it is too late.

geek I am very impressed with the sound of the spreadsheet. You sound super organised. Grin Grin

NoMaybeAboutIt · 10/01/2013 08:43

How on earth did I miss the maternity spreadsheet?! This is amazing. How are you both feeling today Geek?

Keep that's great news! The HCG is for the timing. It it's means they can know when your egg is mature and ready for Sperm101. How exciting. I so would PIACC. But then I am a geek.

How much will the test cost Sweetie? Totally get what you mean about covering all bases.

keepitgoing · 10/01/2013 09:28

Deffo, waiting to test post m/c is too late. Go for it!! Just to put your mind at rest, of course.

I was more questioning the letrozole, maybe. I thought the idea was to make me produce mire than one egg, and if it hasn't then I'v
e had it for nothing??

So how long do you reckon from jabbing in the bum to a positive test..?

NoMaybeAboutIt · 10/01/2013 09:47

Did you just have one shot of the letrozole? I thought it did the same things as clomid but with fewer side effects.

I think you should set up an experiment. Like an hour by hour testing thats what I would do, but I don't get out much

MotherOfCleo · 10/01/2013 09:56

Hi Guys, can you help me? I have a question, I went to the docs yesterday for my bloods results, he said everything was normal, including my progesterone levels...phew. He sees no reason why I shouldn't conceive fairly easily, he suggested using OPKs as I have slightly irregular periods normally somewhere better 26-29 days, which I started using last month. I usually have very light periods though, usually 2 - 4 days, with (sorry for TMI) very few clots, I think they seem light to me as I am used the heavy withdrawal bleeds you get when on the pill. Do any of you ladies know if light periods can be a negative sign?

SweetieTime · 10/01/2013 10:11

Cleo I have very light periods, I think Beedle does too. The tests I have had never show it as an issue. My womb lining was ok when I did my Ivf cycle, they measure it as part of monitoring. I would try not to worry about it too much. I know easier said than done. Every little thing is there to be worried about. Good news that everything else is doing what it should, you will be diffed before you know it.

keepitgoing · 10/01/2013 10:22

I have light periods too... Again have been told its not a prob. But Hmmm.

I took letrozile for five days, yes its meant to be like clomid, the idea was more eggs. But now I'm thinking its given me one extra top quality golden egg instead! :)

NoMaybeAboutIt · 10/01/2013 10:51

Exactly Keep. It's all about the Golden Egg. Like a Faberge egg.

I also have fairly light periods. Bloody painful, but light. And I have been told there's nothing wrong with my lining too. I think there is just such huge variations between people. But I think everyone has their own 'normal'. IYKWIM.

It's great all you bloods are ok Cleo tis just a matter of time now Smile

cartoontrickster · 10/01/2013 11:18

cleo I don't think that sounds anything to worry about.
sweetie I'm glad your getting the tests done. putting ur mind at rest is worth a lot and of course that's all it will be.
brilliant news keep soo excited! I think u should pee on a stick as an experiment Grin
well I'm 4+2 today woo! glad to have got to a point where my af is actually late iyswim and so far nothing to indicate a problem, but then I never have. I was worried about having an early positive and then af coming.

cartoontrickster · 10/01/2013 11:18

oh where does one find this spreadsheet.......?

CupcakesAndMulledWine · 10/01/2013 11:41

OMG just lost a massive post, I'm really really annoyed. Bloody iPad! Right to sum it up:

Yay to MrG

Yay to IUI tomorrow Keep

I've watched half of babymakers, need to watch the rest tonight. I love it.

Cartoon you are diffed my dear no need to check those Knicks!

As you were Brookers

ControlGeek · 10/01/2013 13:15

Hello ladies, how is everyone this misty, freezing day?

All is good in the Geek camp, it feels a bit weird actually - kind of like getting off a really scary fairground ride and realising you're still alive. Weird analogy but I can't think how else to put it. Thank you all for your help last night.

keep yes, he had bought birthday and christmas cards each year, and there is a box of presents, fully wrapped, that were never sent. The cards were sent for the first five or six years, but after getting no response to the notes he put in (including his phone number, since he no longer had theirs) he couldn't bear to send them anymore but couldn't bring himself not to buy them in the first place.

Congratulations on your lining keep that is brilliant! So much better than last time. And you are definitely laying a golden egg - much better to have a triple-quality egg than three ok ones Smile Have you tested yet?? I understand from reading other forums that it can take up to 10 days for the HCG trigger to fully leave your system - are you planning on testing out your trigger so that you know any positive test you may get afterwards is a genuine one, or are you not planning on testing at all? So funny that you couldn't talk to the dr about DTD Grin

sweetie congrats on finding a local place to test for sticky blood, I don't think for a minute that you will have it but you need to be able to go into IVF not worrying about things like that. Testing after a mc would be no good to you whatsoever. Peace of mind is everything.

keep's summary of my mat leave spreadsheet is pretty spot on, it's a spreadsheet I keep that tracks my outgoings, both actual and forecast, breaks it down into week by week expenditure and balances it against wages/SMP/KIT day payments/AL payments that I will get during mat leave and tells me how much I will need by way of savings before mat leave starts, in order to be able to fund mat leave (or alternatively, tells me how many weeks of mat leave I can afford to go on!)

cartoon I'd be happy to send a copy over to you in template form if you want?

maybe Grin @ Sperm101 I too would be PIAPP (plastic pot)

cleo I wouldn't think light periods is too much to worry about, certainly not with you only recently having stopped taking the pill - it can take a while for your body to find its own 'normal' again. Good news about your bloods, that's excellent.

cups that is soooo frustrating

Hmmm this post is getting a bit epic even for me, so I suppose that's a clue that I really ought to go and do some work... Hmm

NoMaybeAboutIt · 10/01/2013 15:44

Geek, I have missed your amazing posts!! This spreadsheet sounds immense and scary all at the same time Grin

Is anyone else incredibly cold?

Solars · 10/01/2013 15:53

...sorry only got time for a quick read and no real time to post at the moment...

Maybe I was out and about this morning and I swear my nips are only starting to defrost now!

(hugs) for you Geek and MrGeek these things are very tough to deal with.

SweetieTime · 10/01/2013 16:01

Solars I am Blush Shock Shock Shock Blush Blush Blush Shock Shock at you

ControlGeek · 10/01/2013 16:23

I'm with sweetie - I read your post solars and thought noooo surely she couldn't have meant to type that!

MrG floored me with his innocence at lunchtime today - he thought pg tests would show positive within a couple of days of DTD if it was successful - oh if only MrG!!!

Also had a scary moment at work. I just clicked on 'empty the recycle bin' and a message popped up asking if I was sure I wanted to delete 'WINDOWS'? Ermmm much as it causes me no end of grief, I think it would be worse if I didn't have it!

NewYearNewBoo · 10/01/2013 16:40

Oh bless Mr G, that would be good though wouldn't it! Mr boo had a 'bless him' moment the other day, it went like this -
me have you organised your paternity leave yet?
him nope, checked the rules, needs doing 15 weeks before due date, got ages to sort it
me you do realise I'm 24 weeks Shock Hmm
him course I do, I will get onto it when it is time
me how long exactly do you think I am pregnant for Grin
him Shock Shock Shock Shock Shock

NoMaybeAboutIt · 10/01/2013 17:19

Hahaha Boo and Geek they sound about as lured up as MrMaybe. We all remember the ovulation story don't we.....

Solars your post made me proper Grin

SweetieTime · 11/01/2013 07:46

Keep I hope this catches you in time. Good luck for today - Brooking those spermies meet your golden egg.

keepitgoing · 11/01/2013 07:52

Am just back! I have 107million washed sperm on board, with motility of 94%. Pre wash was something like 290m and 39%.Dr said I can do normal exercise but I've decided to take it easy this afternoon Grin

Dh was shown to the wank-room, and the lady dimmed the lights and turned on some middle eastern porn (he says he turned it off..). And the lab is right next door so you just put your sample through the hatch. We thought they must have a constant soundtrack of porn to their day.

Apparently some sperm can get along the 8cm of tube in 30 mins! I should ovulate later this afternoon/evening.

Grin
