gingernutdreams · 29/06/2013 10:33

Hey lovely ladies. Just a quick post from me. I have been having some spotting and so am freaking out a tiny bit... there is no cramping and it doesn't seem to be getting worse, but still scared. Any advice?

xx

MiniH · 29/06/2013 11:10

ginger I would phone EPU now and explain history. Could be low progesterone so insist on a check by either clinic or EPU. A lot of ladies have had low progesterone and needed massive dose to get through first weeks. Fx for you.

Pocket1 · 29/06/2013 15:59

Ginger, Mini is spot on. Its prob just low progesterone - exactly the same happened to me at 8 weeks so i know how scary it is. Any chance of getting to your clinic today for a scan and blood test? Smile

JuicySausage · 29/06/2013 17:01

Ginger, come over to the Pregnant IVF Worriers thread where you will get lots of reassurance about your spotting.

gingernutdreams · 29/06/2013 17:22

Thanks girls. I didn't do either, as the spotting seems to have eased a bit, and I was due to meet up with some old friends for a catch up. I have not had any cramping, and the spotting seems to be at a minimum now, so I will see how I get on over the weekend, and if it has not stopped by Mon, I will ring the clinic and ask about progesterone levels and ask whether I could have a scan or blood test. They did say I was on max progesterone levels, but maybe not. Am taking it easy now, catching up on the soaps. Smile

sunnyg · 30/06/2013 15:25

Hi All
Gosh I've only been away a month and so much has happened! Wonderful, wonderful news about the new arrivals, a hug congratulations to Mini on the arrival of gorgeous baby Sloane and Beginning on your baby boy. I'm sorry your boy was born early Beginning but it sounds like he's doing well now?

And ginger what amazing news! Huge congrats on your BFP. I knew it would happen my dear. I'm sorry about the spotting. I found the first 16 weeks really worrying, so I can understand your concerns. I had two massive bleads (gushing blood - sorry if TMI) at 8.5 and 11.5 weeks and loads of spotting before and after each for weeks. I know how terrifying it is. I think the other ladies have given you good advice in going up to your local EPAU and also checking in with your clinic. The progesterone route is also good advice. I hope it all settles down for you. Again wonderful news.

Juicy also big congrats on your BFP! When if your first scan?

Luckystarfour I also believe in going with your gut instinct and it sounds like you have no reason to give a more natural cycle a go. I met a lady at my twins antenatal class. She had numerous NHS goes and a few private as well. Finally went for a more natural approach run by Create at Wimbledon and it did the trick. 2 beautiful boys born 3 weeks ago.

Vallinn I am very impressed with DH and the roses. Please do start believing. Thursday is the day. Will be thinking of you and your frosty!

Weller I cannot believe you are now 33 weeks. Time has flown. I hope the last part goes well and you are getting excited. And Pocket are you really due in a week? I bet you thought this day would never come. Just goes to show.... So are you all organised? Birth plan ready? Bag by the door? I can't wait to hear the news of your arrival.

AFM all going fine. Sorry I have been absent. Had my sister's wedding in Greece and then had family here for the past month. Was so lovely to see them here. But (although I feel terrible for saying this) I think we all got a bit on top of each other at the end. Not so much space in my little 2 bed London terrace! But my Mum was a great help and even marched me into Mothercare on a bit of a shopping for babies rampage. Until then I had been to scared to buy anything. Almost 26 weeks and getting pretty big. People keep asking me how many weeks to go? Um no, months sorry people!

Sorry if I've missed anyone. Will catch up more in the next few days. Until then enjoy this wonderful sunny weather!

DSB oxoxo

gingernutdreams · 30/06/2013 18:07

Thanks Sunny, good to hear from you. Glad to hear you are doing well, and getting nice and big! It must have been quite frightening to have those bleeds, but glad it all worked out and your little ones are doing so well. I think I will follow yours and the other ladies advice, and check in with my clinic tomorrow, just to see what they recommend. The spotting has not got any worse, but not yet gone away, so we will see. I still have all the good (or bad, depending on how you view it) symptoms, like sore boobs Biscuit Biscuit, extreme tiredness, light headedness, and some nausea, so I'm thinking things are still ok.

Sending hugs and best wishes to all you lovely ladies.

Luckystarfour · 30/06/2013 21:43

Hi all

Sorry I've been absent for a week or so, work has been busy busy as ive been getting sorted so im ready to on holiday on Thursday :-)

Some great news I see - have loved catching up on all your journeys!

jewcy such great news - and an early reading that's great!! I forget is this a donor egg and sperm round for you guys or just donor egg?

sunny so great to hear you and your twins are doing well.

gingernut def. ring tomorrow - you don't want to get this far and let naughty progesterone levels ruin things. High levels so you know are at least 2x400mg of pessaries plus 3 vials of gestone injections per day. So don't be fooled by the clinic - so many clinics don't seem to take progesterone readings serious enough. Remember i said a private clinic like BUPA will also monitor them for you :-)
vanil wishing you all the best for your frozen embryo transfer :-))

To all the pregnant ladies due to give birth - have a peaceful week pocket weeks/months other ladies - we shall all be waiting to hear from you on the other side of this journey.

AFM - the egg donor we have found on mums net has had her initiall tests and has excellent ovarian reserve and results :-) better still she is also happy to go along with whatever time scale we please :-) couldn't ask for more. The clinic have met her now and her little girl and they have all said how lovely she is.

Hearing all you positive results - I'm feeling like the odd one out at the party. A part of me is honking should we forget this natrual insemination attempt next month with my own eggs and just go for the double donor round! Who knows! In being impatient - I'm giving up on such a huge thing - being a biological mother. I still feel its only 2 months delay. Perhaps the holiday restore my confidence! I just want to join the club now and hearing it work for all you ladies (if I'm completely honey) draws the green eyes monster in me and I hate that feeling :-( makes me realise how much pain we ladies carry in order to cope xxx

Luckystarfour · 30/06/2013 21:44
  • iPhone spelling again. Makes comical reading at least!!
Pocket1 · 01/07/2013 14:27

Sunny, great to hear from you - wow 26 weeks. It's lovely to hear things are going well. Stuff everyone commenting on your size - I've been told I look neat and huge in the same day. I guess these comments say more about them than us. A long as you're being checked out and measured by midwife etc ignore what others are saying.

Lucky, what fantastic news about your donor. I was always comforted by our clinic saying our donor was lovely. Tough decision whether to try with your own eggs or double donor for your next round - in the grand scheme 2 months is nothing really but I know it can feel like ages when you want to get on with it. Best of luck my dear whatever you do. Btw, you will forget all the crappy stuff when you get your bfp.

Ginger hope he spotting has stopped now.

Lots of love to everyone. I'm hovering waiting for news. DSB SmileSmile

JuicySausage · 01/07/2013 15:44

Sunny, so nice to hear how you're progressing, twins are such a blessing Smile

Lucky, you can't really afford to get hung up on genetics if everything is pointing towards donor assistance. I certainly don't feel as if I'm giving up something 'huge' by not being my baby's egg mother. I am already in love with this baby and I feel it's an honour no matter where the baby comes from Smile

I have very exciting news from my beta blood test at 13dp5dt.... 1,375!! My friend on FF is expecting twins and her beta at 13dp5dt was 1,087 Shock Grin

gingernutdreams · 01/07/2013 18:41

Well ladies, I rang the clinic at lunch today. They advised I was on the max dose of progesterone (4 x 400mg pessaries), but that I should try back door insertion instead of front. They said that I might have irritated or scratched myself on inserting front ways, and also the cervix is a lot softer now, so prone to erosion. They said it was more encouraging that it is brown spotting, as this is old blood so could even have been from the transfer, or scratch and not to be too concerned unless it is pink or red, and then I can call them back if it is. Also, they said as I have had no pain or bad cramping, that is a good sign too. So, I shall follow their advice, get on with back door insertion (not as easy), and see how the next few days go. It has not got any worse, but has not yet gone. At least I have another scan in under a week, so we shall see what that brings.

Lucky, great to hear you have found a potential suitable donor. Go with what your heart tells you, but an extra 2 months wait may be worth it if you get lucky and the natural insemination works! let us know what you decide, and whatever you do decide, all the best of luck!

Juicy what exciting news re your beta blood test! Sounds like you are doing great! When is your scan?

Hi to Pocket, can't wait to hear news of your arrival... is it just a week now?

DSB

MiniH · 02/07/2013 16:18

ginger that's great news. Back door isn't as bad as it sounds, honest. Or at least, in the world of IVF and what we do to our bodies, it ain't that bad!

Pocket1 · 02/07/2013 17:08

Juicy that's amazing. How totally wonderful!! SmileSmile

Ginger, fab news - as Mini says, back door isn't so bad. And in the grand scheme of things who really cares!! Smile

And in other news....

.... Our beautiful little girl was born at 9.16 this morning weighing 7lb 11 oz.
We are all doing well and DP and I are totally smitten.

Ladies DONT STOP BELIEVING
