We're ttc #2 in dec and I know it's a really silly thing to get excited about, but just started taking folic acid and feeling very excited about it!

Sorry for the pointless thread.

Evening all,

been lurking for the last couple of days, but too busy to post, work can be so inconvenient sometimes!

Amiready and Winterpansy, hope work stuff gets easier for you both, for a place that we spend so much time in it can be so grim sometimes!!!

Literary, welcome, you sound so strong! Have you posted on the berevement threads? Two of the girls on my antenatal thread unfortunetly lost their babies and they found a lot of comfort in that thread, I think they still post on there. I know we will all be thrilled when you get your bfp and even more when you have your healthy baby in your arms :)

Leaf thanks for updating the list, I'm gonna go make myself comfy at the back Grin

Hello to everyone else, hope you've been well

Sorelip · 28/11/2012 19:15

Hi all. Still got this bastard cold/cough that won't shift. It's the dry mouth and throat that's the worst.

Literary I'm so sorry for your loss. Welcome to the thread, it's great here.

I have no idea if I've ovulated. I'm avoiding OPKs, I went a little crazy with them last time.

OrbisNonSufficit · 28/11/2012 21:35

Grin leaf I'm keeping an eye on the following: crave, picchu, fragile, noppies, formes, boob, ripe, vertbaudet, homme mummy... (I know some of these are more well-known because they're french, but the US and Australian ones no one really seems to know about, so often cheeeeap)

literaryone · 29/11/2012 12:18

Hello, all! Let me do a name call so I can remember some of the handles: Bridget, Tigerseye, Sunshine, My3knights, Loveyou, and Twojackrussells! Phew!

I'm really, really, really glad to have found this thread as I obviously don't fit in on the pregnancy forums but get very stressed out every time I read forums or message boards devoted solely to loss. I guess there's a balance here -- I was worried about being a downer on this thread, imagining (irrationally) that everyone might be trying for their first or never have had a miscarriage, but see, on reading back, that some of you here have had the same sort of tragic heartbreak but are looking to the future now. Wishing everyone well on the journey!

I have had to accept that we will never get any answers as the hospital was very thorough and ran tests for everything possible and we got no explanations. So it will just have to be gritting teeth and going into it again in a few months, hoping that we are lucky or have paid off our bad karma or whatever it is you might want to say. My update today from the endocrinologist is that my thyroid levels are off balance so it's a changed dosage and another review in a couple of months. Am really hoping that the new dosage is correct and balances everything out, as we can't try again until it is. It really sucked waiting in her office and seeing somebody in their third trimester, which is where I should have been. But again, grit teeth, go on.

Confession: I had to look up BFP. Really not aware of the acronyms in use here!

So here goes: BEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE EFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF PEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEES for everyone once they start trying!

literaryone · 29/11/2012 12:24

Sorelip, sorry, I missed you out! Hello!

Have you tried a steam inhalation with eucalyptus oil to shift the cold/cough? It did wonders for me a few months ago.

Sorelip · 29/11/2012 12:46

Literary that must be the only thing I haven't tried. Will send DH out immediately to get some. I'm actually feeling worse today, kind of high but not in a good way. My temp is fine though, so I'm in bed while DH has DS. Illness leaves me in a murderous mood, so it's for the best. Moan moan moan, moan moan moan, blah blah blah.

It's driving me a bit mad, not knowing when/if I've ovulated. Slightly horrible question: if you have regular sex, how do you distinguish between egg white mucus, and ejaculate?

BridgetandtheHairyBrigands · 29/11/2012 13:36

Sorelip*, sorry to hear you are feeling so rough - definitely try getting a good dose of steam up those nostrils. I think it is especially good for easing any sinus pain.

As for your rather 'intimate' question, I personally think it's pretty impossible. Mr Hairy seems to give me 'gifts' that just keep on giving Blush

However, the ladies on the just shagging thread have recently been discussing this very thing, so it might be worth a quick nosy over there for some ideas.

Sunshine2013Hopefully · 29/11/2012 15:16

Lol I love that no topic is ever deemed inappropriate here! I think Bridget is right sorelip there is no telling them apart.

Sorry that was no help! Lol

Sunshine2013Hopefully · 29/11/2012 15:52

For all my January TTC buddies, are you doing anything special in ur last month before the real work begins?

Zedds · 29/11/2012 17:31

Hey - we will be ttc in Jan - just trying to remember to take the folic acid and trying not to panic!! How about you?

LoveYouForeverMyBaby · 29/11/2012 18:08

literary so glad this thread helps, everyone here is great and although dh and i are officially ttc and not waiting anymore, I'm staying with this thread as its great support and banter Smile

OP posts:
LoveYouForeverMyBaby · 29/11/2012 18:11

sorelip re your "initiate" question, I'm not exactly sure when I ov'd too, it was the last couple of days I think, I've just gone with the dtd as much as poss over this time method and keeping fx!

OP posts:
winterpansy · 29/11/2012 20:37

literary So sorry for your loss. Hopefully you will get a BFP as soon as you are ready. Welcome to the thread.

Thanks y'all for the work support. Going to get signed off on Monday for another two weeks so hopefully there will be an outcome over that time and I'll know for definite if I'll be back or not.

Leaf thanks for updating the list. I'm very much hoping to stay in the jan/feb category!

I spent today getting the last of DSs Christmas pressies as he spent some quality time with his grandparents. I'm going to find it very hard not to give him anything between now and then cos I am sooo excited! How is everyone's Christmas prep shaping up?

Sunshine2013Hopefully · 29/11/2012 21:57

Hey zedds I'm doing pretty much the same, but I keep forgetting to take my folic acid! I'm also trying to b a lil more active to try and shorten my cycle a bit and will b using opk's hopefully for the first and last time ( cuz I can see me getting obsessed with them). I'm reli just using them to confirm I am ovuluating wen I think I am! I've also been doing too much research for my own good and making financial projections! Lol .. I am getting a bit carried away already aren't I? Lol .. I'll also b throwing myself whole heartedly into the seasons celebrations before I have to give alcohol and some foods up for a year!

Sunshine2013Hopefully · 29/11/2012 21:59

winterpansy I'm jealous u get to play Santa, I reli can't wait for that bit, I love Christmas! I just started my Christmas shopping tonight with a packed and chaotic trip to boots! It was mad! Lol

Zedds · 29/11/2012 22:28

Hi Sunshine - I bought pregnancy tests the other day! And I have been working out possible due dates. I am getting worried that if I am this excited by the prospect of trying, I will explode with stress once we actually start. My DH is getting a bit frustrated with me already but then again I am not sure that he entirely appreciates how life will change if we are successful (not that I know either but he keeps just saying it will all be fine and we will cope when I am stressing). Good point about enjoying christmas - lots of cheese, pâté and wine I think!

literaryone · 30/11/2012 07:42

I'm opting out of Christmas this year for the greater part, not going over to the parents' place (our usual practice) I should have been 8 months pregnant at Christmas and the loss was too recent, so all that baby-and-hope stuff is kicking me in the gut. But planning to go spend a week over Christmas with my closest friend, who is moving to another country at the beginning of January lots of walks and conversation on the cards!

Can I add my name too? :)

We have decided to start trying after New Year, I'm very excited but there's no one I can really tell IRL! It will be mine (and OH's) first.

I'm going to start taking Folic Acid now, is there anything else I (we?!) should be doing, other than practicing? Wink I'm not on any contraception at the moment (we use condoms) so no need to stop that....

BridgetandtheHairyBrigands · 30/11/2012 12:27

Good afternoon Cherry, welcome to our motley crew.

Might be worth taking a look at the mumsnet conception pages (click on the picture of the egg & sperm at the top of the thread).

Some may argue that their pre-conception check list is a little OTT - but it's worth considering stuff like whether you're up-to-date with your smear test and vaccinations etc.

jazzcat28 · 30/11/2012 12:43

Hi ladies

It's been a week or so since I posted, sorry for being rubbish! Hope all is well for us waiters. Almost December now so I guess not that long to wait for those of you thinking of some New Year swi!

Just had an exciting morning as managed to secure tickets for Robbie Williams at Wembley next year! Only thought after buying them that oh, wait, I might be anywhere from 2-4 months pg at that point.... preggo ladies are ok going to gigs right? We only have standing tickets..Confused

there any other things looming on the horizon next year for you that might beAre affected by (fingers crossed) being pg?

I also have a wedding to go to about 1-2 months after we want to start trying, so might have to think of an excuse not to drink.

Leafmould · 30/11/2012 14:13

Jazz cat, "I'm on a course of strong antibiotics for an [unspecified] infection" is a good excuse for not drinking!

Welcome to literary, I am so sorry for your loss, it must be terribly difficult to come to terms with when it is unexplained. I hope you can enjoy our company as we all wait, for our various reasons, and then eventually ttc.

Hello to cherry too, I would second what Bridget says: check on your smear and rubella status.

Other activities thread members have already started include: making a short list of names, checking out maternity wear on eBay, going soft in the baby section of the department store, any more?

I have started practising my knitting skills again, determined that I will finish the jumper I started knitting for my dd (now aged 8) which she grew out of before it was finished. Hopefully it will be done in time for my niece or nephew who is due to be born in spring. Purple is ok for a boy or a girl, right?

BridgetandtheHairyBrigands · 30/11/2012 21:12

Evening patient (and not so patient) wait-ers.

TooMuchLaptop, your post brought back memories. In our first few years together, Mr Hairy and I always used to go back to our respective families at Christmas. His Christmases were always very sophisticated; intelligent conversation and fine food. Whereas mine were pandemonium; lots of loud chatter, bickering, hyperactive children and surly teenagers. Champagne and Fortnum's finest vs Schloer and Quality Street... But I still think it's my lot that had more fun.

jazzcat, sure the gig will be fine and, if you're pregnant and not up for it, I'm certain the ticket will find a good home.

Tigerseye how is Loopy getting on with the cold weather? BridgetDog loved the frost this morning - I think it made everything smell 'better' as her nose was constantly to the ground. She got a hell of a shock though when she went charging into one of her favourite large puddles only to find it had iced over!

LoveYouForeverMyBaby · 30/11/2012 23:06

Welcome cherry and I think purple is definitely unisex leaf

Sunshine2013Hopefully · 01/12/2012 18:32

zedds I feel the exact same about the stress so I hav already planned 2 spa days/weekends in January and February! Totally medicinal u understand, all for the greater baby good, not just any old excuse for me to get a hot stone lava massage!

Hi jazz I also hav a wedding and a hen weekend next year, but like my mum said there will always b something, some excuse to delay trying, but u just gotta bite the bullet and work round it! So that's my plan! Lol

Welcome cherry (waves)

leaf I am also a follow knitter. Purple is deffo unisex, good luck getting it finished in time! I do LOVE to knit, but I stick to blankets I haven't advanced into the complicating jumper/cardigan zone!

Well girls I did try to order a sexy corset earlier to make this TTCing more fun. So scrolled down to order a size 12 (a size I work hard to maintain and I think is quite slim) and it turns out that is a LARGE size!!!
Screw that, I cancelled the order, slammed the laptop closed and slunk off to huff! :(
Lol
