Hi ladies,

For those of us out of the July game there are not many places to hide so I thought I'd start a new August thread to give us all some positive vibes!

Cycle 3 - BFP August 6th

OP posts:
miarosemum · 17/07/2012 18:48

bodi · 17/07/2012 18:51

hi winkle,

i'm in no mans land as have really irregular cycle - currently peeing on ov sticks twice a day everyday (facing dehydration and going insane) - hoping one will show a +ve at some point in the not too distant future. Based on last month could be 36 d cycle, based on 2 years ago could be 6 month cycle. Fx for us that we get a +ve ov soon.

winkle2 · 17/07/2012 19:17

Miarosemum - I say keep dtd every other day to cover you - good luck!

Bodi - my cycles are usually regular-ish around 33 days-ish so not sure what the hell is going on this month!!

miarosemum · 17/07/2012 19:28

thanks winkle, must be so frustrating having a long cycle and not knowing where you are...def not preggers?

bodi · 17/07/2012 19:40

good luck miarosemum - keep up the good work for another couple of days.

winkle - hopefully just a one off funny cycle for you, your body getting things out of it's system before your bfp. Smile Still very frustrating for you though when you just want to crack on with the baby making

winkle2 · 17/07/2012 20:34

Def not preggers :(

Zeuxippe · 17/07/2012 21:44

Gosh, 39 days. I've had the occasional really long cycle like that, but only when I've been totally stressed. Do you often get long cycles? Or perhaps you could have ov'd very late?

Hope you're ok

Zeuxippe · 17/07/2012 21:48

Sorry, just seen you said normally around a 33 day cycle

winkle2 · 17/07/2012 21:48

I've been tracking my cycles for a year. They have averaged around 33 days. This is the longest cycle so I'm hoping it's a fluky one off! My fertility monitor gave me a peak at cd13 which was early for me... So who knows?!!

Went to the docs yesterday about it and he's sent me for tests as we've been trying for a year.

miarosemum · 18/07/2012 15:57

hello ladies, how are we doing? anyone else opk positive at the moment? Wink

miarosemum · 18/07/2012 16:14

so have had a +ve opk cycle day 12 and 13 and another one today (cycle day 14). this is the first time i have used these sticks properly through out my cycle, is this quite common to have three positive +ve opk three days in a row? used it at the same time every day Confused

winkle2 · 18/07/2012 17:00

Which OPKs are you using?

I'm going to start using them from tomorrow. I use the digitals.

miarosemum · 18/07/2012 17:09

i got them from fertility matters website, they are not the little strips ones, they have a cap on that you take off and poas. two lines come right up straightway, the test line being as strong if not stronger than the control line, still no af winkle?

frustratedpants · 18/07/2012 17:56

I'm using the clearblue OPK. (not trials) And finally got a +ive. A couple of days later than I thought it would be, but feeling relieved today knowing that. Does anyone know does it prove you are O or just that your body is preparing for O? I'm slightly confuses by it all. Can you still get a +ive and not actually release an egg?

miarosemum · 18/07/2012 18:09

frustrated I am slightly confused by this all as well, new to opk sticks...I believe by reading the boards, that you can still not actually release an egg as opk only indicates you have a LH surge. it should indicate that your body is planning to O, so my advice is to dtd every other day over next 7 days just to be sure, thats my plan of action anyway!

winkle2 · 18/07/2012 18:37

Still no sign

threeleftfeet · 18/07/2012 19:42

OK, I got the sticks! First time stick user here too (although on cycle 5).
Got Clear Blue from Boots as cheaper than Amazon which surprised me. Decided to get the pricier ones as life is chaotic enough here without adding little cups of wee around the place! (I't'd only be a matter of time before I rushed off, forgot about it and left it for the lodger to find Grin)

According to the instructions I should have started testing yesterday. Oops! Will start this evening.

Newbie2 · 18/07/2012 20:57

CB smiley face OV sticks are a good choice! I used them last month. The month I'm using the clear blue fertility monitor just because I wanted a clear idea when to start DTD EOD. I'm currently on CD10 and have been on 'high' fertility alert for 3 days now. Expecting to 'peak' at the weekend.

Is it really true that your LH could be detected but you might not actually release a egg after all? That is so depressing!!

OP posts:
Newbie2 · 18/07/2012 21:12

Just read this - False Surges
Just because you detect an LH surge with an ovulation predictor kit (OPK), it doesn't ensure that you will ovulate. Some women will have a number of small surges or mini-surges before the final surge that triggers ovulation. These mini-surges are the body's way of gearing up to ovulate. To confirm that the surge you detected was a final surge, continue taking OPKs until they are negative or until you've confirmed ovulation by seeing a marked increase in your basal body temperature, the temperature taken at the same time first thing every morning.

Been doing opks for 6 months now :(

kittykatsforever · 18/07/2012 22:28

Ahh newbie I wouldn't read to much into it, it may be that's the case sometimes but I'd say for the most it is like it says on the tin bearing it mind it is for guidance to help not a precise science, I carried on using the tests this month just because cd15 seemed way early for me but didn't have another positive surge and I'd been doing it from cd10 so early enough for my cycle, only stoped bleeding a few data previous but if you were worried you could do one cycle where you monitored the full thing for comparison but I wouldn't do it e wry month!
Think the monitors are different again but obviously of your dtd as much as you can anyway you should be fine x

WhenSheWasBadSheWasHorrid · 19/07/2012 08:58

Hello everyone (big wave to everyone from the July thread).

Been crazy busy at work but am trying to catch up with all the posts. Am on cd5 here and think af has just about finished. The plan this month is to use opks and eat healthier. The last two cycles I have had chemical pregnancies (horrible to go through). I don't know what caused it but it could be a thin uterine lining. Lots of sugar is meant to be bad for your uterine health so I am ditching the cake this month.

It is nice to know dh's sperm are working perfectly, especially as we have been a bit rubbish re dtd but I still feel guilty i am not providing a decent home for the egg to implant into.

winkle any news on af yet?

RIBS · 19/07/2012 10:02

Im here!!! .

Was going to go in the COD but im too busy, we'r away for the weekend tomorrow and I have to pack and we have so much wine and parma ham and smelly cheese at home that unless David Beckham and Matthew McConahay are waiting in the COD for me, peeling grapes, il give it a miss. Grin

Looks like it was a chemical Pregnancy. Strangely feel a step closer to being pg next cycle. Getting the EPO ready. I think im actually losing my mind I cant remember when I need to take the clomid. This will be month 5 FFS. Is day one the day of your period or the day it stops? Confused

resipsa · 19/07/2012 10:19

Is the plan that we lurk here and on Wishful's thread too? Don't want to abandon her! That said, the other thread is suppposed to be for the relaxed, medium-term posters and I am Bloody obsessed this month! Only on CD7 so a while to go; feel like life is on hold until I get that +ve OPK. How sad I have become! Am at work and obviously not working; wish there was a time recording code for reading Mumsnet cause then I'd be way ahead of target.
PS Just been loking at the DuoFertiltiy website. Quite attracted by the money back guarantee. Anyone used/using it?
