Right I'm going to be bold and start a new thread to drum up some energy for anyone ttc a Jan / Feb / Spring 2013 baby.

Does anyone want to join me on this flight?

Can't remember who said about needing to take Vitamin B complex instead of just B6? But it reminded me of a bugbear I have about supplements - there's never enough information on the package. I've bought supplements in the past from Superdrug, Boots, Sainsburys and H&B and none of them give you any info at all about why taking the supplement might be beneficial. Even worse, they don't tell you how to maximise the efficiency (there's nothing on my tub of B6 tablets to say that I should take them with other B vitamins) and they don't even tell you what level of dosage is safe and what's unsafe. I know there's been some dodgy practices in the past about the marketing of supplements, and I'm sure that it's legislation that prevents them putting more info on the packaging, but I still find it very frustrating. I would rather have more information than less. And it drives people to the internet to find out more info - and not every website offers good information......

Sorry for the rant

Encouraged by my temps this cycle. Could be the warm weather, of course, but none of them have dipped below 97.0 so far, which puts me in a 'normal' category of temps. All my other cycles have had temps in the 96s. So I'm feeling encouraged.

Marking spot to ogle at the pee'ers....

re supplements- the biggest problem i have is the issue of different units being used across the world, so reading research from USA means i then have to convert the units, luckily i have found a good site now that does that and also will change hormone units etc etc
My Holland &Barrett B6 50mg says- contributes to : the regulation of hormonal activity, the reduction of tiredness and fatigue, normal homocysteine metabolism.

i also take a preconception supplement which includes all the B vits. I've not read that info yet - about having to take the B vit complex and not sure if that is necessarily the case- if it was then why would there be any market for single B vitamins? Maybe it depends on what you want to achieve. I don't doubt the person who wrote that, i just know that nutritionists vary wildly in their advice and research is always coming up with new information . For me personally I take the above the increase my CM, its done that, it worked very quickly and i also feel less tired. Both are very positive results that are enhancing my life (slightly) and I intend to continue taking it though I may switch to a mixture of high levels of B6, B12 and folic acid as time goes by as there is research that it helps stave off memory loss/dementia etc. So depends on what you're taking the vits for.

blackcatsdancing · 29/05/2012 11:55

also how much to take? i found this especially hard with agnus castus, eventually i gave up on it on so many sources said it should only be prescribed with the advice of a herbalist/ nutrition therapist. So much conflicting information out there and nutritional science still so young .

Pipbin · 29/05/2012 13:00

It was me who said about needing to take B6 with a complex.
I had read that somewhere online and then through trial and error found it to be the case.
B6 on its own made no difference, B complex lengthen my LP and reduced the spotting.

But this is just what I have found. It doesn't mean it's right for everyone.

Flyingwithoutwings · 29/05/2012 13:08

Quick check in.

Currently in holiday and "operation conceive baby Butlins" is underway Wink

SilentMammoth · 29/05/2012 16:51

Your not going to actually call it butlins are you???!!! Glad you are getting good weather for your relaxing hols.

I've spent today dashing to loo in case af had turned up. Quite a bit of cm do is confusing! Hey, either way my lp is lots better!

Flyingwithoutwings · 29/05/2012 17:46

Butlins or Minehead, undecided at the moment...
I think Redcoat sounds daft though Wink

SilentMammoth · 29/05/2012 19:40

Call it Redcoat and it will be the coolest kid in the class!

Flyingwithoutwings · 29/05/2012 21:59

Especially if it has red hair Grin

Wiggy29 · 29/05/2012 22:36

Flying- very amused by the name choices! We might be off to the caravan at half term so could end up with a Kendal!

Interesting chat about vitamins. I've just been taking folic acid but think it's making me feel a bit queasy so I'm going to try taking it after evening meal instead of breakfast.

I've totally lost count of where I am and have no idea when exactly I'm due but roughly between 11-17 June and no sign of ovulation yet so I'm still just trying not to think about it.

Treats · 29/05/2012 22:36

DH got his SA results from the docs this afternoon - everything fine! I'm really relieved - partly because it means that there's nothing to worry about, but also because I was worried about how he'd feel if something abnormal had been revealed.

So - as he said to the doctor - we've just got to crack on and see how we go.....

Pipbin · 29/05/2012 22:40

Oh, btw, I have started a new thread for Easter bunnies:
New Thread for Easter babies

SilentMammoth · 30/05/2012 06:36

Well, I'm slightly peeved as 14 dpo my temp has leapt up; so peed in a cup and AF has arrived! Meh!

Purpledragon · 30/05/2012 06:45

Damn Silent sorry to hear. Nice long LP, and on to the next?

SilentMammoth · 30/05/2012 07:00

Absolutely purple! Who's next to test?

Purpledragon · 30/05/2012 07:20

Did you say your temp went up and your period arrived, Silent ? I'm really having a bit of a downer on charted at the moment. Testing, well there is me and Lime but not til after the w/e. Anyone else?

Pipbin · 30/05/2012 07:45

Balls Silent. Come and join me on the Easter thread.
We can be cycle buddies again.

Crazytictac · 30/05/2012 08:00

Ah how annoying silent. Hate it when that happens!

Pleased that your DH results were fine treats, one less thing to worry about!

blackcatsdancing · 30/05/2012 09:12

ah sorry silent. hope next month works for you.

treats great news on your partner's test results! also love the choir thing! There are a couple of community choirs where i live and i've often thought of joining- they're open to all. I used to loved singing in the school choir.

pipbin yes , its about what works for your body. These sort of threads are great for sharing information but what works for one person may do nothing for the next. I love hearing what women over 40 who conceived naturally did to achieve their goal. The one thing i'm drawing the line with supplement wise is DHEA. And there are plenty of women over 40 who did nothing at all (well except have unprotected sex).

i'm CD9 so started to do daily OPks and as soon as i get a whiff of a line will commence testing twice daily. Met DP in park yesterday before we came home so we had a chance to relax and kiss outside on the grass, by the time dinner was over it was easy to get into bed. Must really make an effort to have SWI every other day until i've ovulated. last 2 months were not enough sex at all. Tonight we're not together and tomorrow is my late night at work but i will have to make an effort .

I've been preoccupied with these cuts at work. Now have new job description (fine) with new hours (not much less) and new location on a rota basis- again ok with me as its more variety and i hate being bored at work. Just have to see how many people compete for my post as there are not enough jobs to go around. pants.

LimeLeafLizard · 30/05/2012 09:47

Silent, sorry to hear your AF arrived.

blackcats good luck with your SWI - sounds like it is working well! Wink

Treats great news about the test results.

Are we all going to move to the new thread? I will struggle to keep up with everyone in two places and this thread is getting rather full now anyway.

OP posts:
Flyingwithoutwings · 30/05/2012 16:42

What's the title of the new thread? My phone doesn't like links if they are not to another website Confused

SpringFlowers · 30/05/2012 17:14

I don't know whether to post here? I can't really move to the Easter thread. What are you doing FLIGHTTY and Empire? A quick post as it's my scan tomorrow. 6+5 weeks - please cross everything for a heartbeat...

EmilieFloge · 30/05/2012 17:19

Spring...it's me (can't say name but am a week ahead of you). just wanted to say I'm thinking of you and I hope it goes really well tomorrow - I mean, I hope that you find that everything is in place and where it ought to be. lots of love and let us know if you feel up to it xxx

blackcatsdancing · 30/05/2012 17:22

i'm still waiting for my feb baby so not moving anywhere even if i end up talking to myself.
