Hi all, we're about to start FET following an unsuccessful round of ICSI last year (well, we got the bfp, but then I miscarried shortly after Sad). But... time to get back on the bike and go again...

Anyone else going through this?

Just had my scan and my lining is only 6mm - still needs a further 2mm to grow before I can start the pesaries, so my FET is looking more likely to be w/c 2nd April now... Just a little bit Sad as I think we both thought I'd be further ahead... Oh well- got to keep positive I guess!!
Sory for the me me post - am on my phone and can't look back at other messages easily. Hope everyone has good Tuesdays. At least it's a bit sunny Smile

I really hope it helps Lizzie, I have to admit I've found counselling to be an extremely worthwhile experience recently and wish I could have kept it on. Enjoy your dinner out Smile

Sorry to hear that Zeebee but no matter how long it takes to get there, it will come eventually and it will be worth the wait to make sure everything is just as it should be Smile

zeebee1 · 20/03/2012 13:08

thanks josie and lizzie I know - i'm just impatient... good news is that I only have to up dosage by 1 further pill a day,... think DH and I will also be going out for dinner tonight as a little treat (and boy do we all need those!)
lizzzie I hope the counselling helps - something I must say I feel I need from time to time... have had it in the past for bereavement, and found it very helpful... hey ho - on with Tuesday!

Afternoon all!

Zeebee sorry things were a bit dissapointing but still sounds like you are almost there! If I stay on track we may end up having transfers around the same time, so at least we can keep each other from going crazy in the 2WW...

Josie sorry you didn't get your garden day, but at least the weather is forecast to stay sunny for a while, so hopefully you can plant your rose soon. Let's hope these spring vibes are affecting our bodies in a positive way and giving them the hint that things should be sprouting!

Lizzie hope your counselling goes ok... and that you have a nice dinner.

Karbea Thinking of you...hope all is going well today.

I have woken up with very sore boobs! That will teach me for being all smug about having no side effects on the synarel. DH hugged me before work this morning and was like ow ow ow!!! Hopefully it means AF might be on it's way... I also have a spot the size of a volcano erupting on my chin - another good AF sign.

Wishing a good day to everyone! x

Karbea · 20/03/2012 17:51

Hi all,

Hope you're all well!
They managed to squeeze 8 eggs out of me, so happy, hope some of them are good ones!
We won't hear till tomorrow at about 9 which have fertilised, fingers crossed!!!

zeebee1 · 20/03/2012 18:04

Great news karbea - some Barry white vibes tonight for that petri dish! WinkWink

Raspberryjam · 20/03/2012 19:48

Brilliant news Karbea - let's hope they get very busy overnight tonight!

Raspberryjam · 20/03/2012 19:59

(Oops sent post before I had finished.)
Hope your scan goes well Josie - positive thoughts to you tonight.

Lets hope you get there soon Zeebee and that you and lizzie both have a nice wine??/sparkling water? and dine. If you are anything like me lizzie , I found the counselling really useful but I was exhausted afterwards - hope you have a reenergising sleep later.

Millymoo - I am exactly the same as you today - my boobs were INCREDIBLY tender and sensitive today - ouch!!I know how you feel........Three nice spots brewing - 2 on my nose and one on my bottom lip - mmmmmm attractive - also feel really bloated and fat and eating too much rubbish today. Hopefully it will all be worth it and we will be looking radiant before long Smile. I've got another scan early tomorrow before work.

CareBear1 · 20/03/2012 21:20

Karbea That is great news, good luck for your phone call, fingers crossed.

Lizzie Glad you found the counselling useful..

Hello to everyone else :)

jumpingjackhash · 21/03/2012 10:50

Morning all! Lots of updates here since I was last on!

Karbea, hope you had some good news this morning and the eggs and swimmers got down to the bizzo overnight! Let us know how they got on.

Milly, on our icsi round I think I was DR-ing for around 10/12 days before AF put in an appearance, but with the FET it took a few (frustrating!) weeks, try not to get too hung-up on timings they give at the clinic for your body to react, it will drive you mental! I speak from experience! Wink

Josie, scan today for your follies, right? Let us know how you get on.

Zeebee, how are you feeling on the extra pill? Hope your endo gets the extra bulk!

Care, you make me laugh with DH being chauffeur! My prep for Friday is listening to Zita each evening in the run up (as I wait for the pessary to be absorbed) - DH knows not to disturb me then, only wish the cat understood too as she's usually head-butting me for attention then! On the plus side, DH gets on with making the dinner while I'm meditating Grin. Otherwise I've just taken the day off work and told them I won't be contactable, I'm planning on taking my ipod into the room with me to try to listen to some music which usually helps me to relax (DH coming too of course, will be holding my hand and making appropriately soothing noises Hmm). And I'll be popping a couple of paracetamol about an hour before in an effort to convince myself it won't hurt [wimp emoticon]. Afterwards DH and I are going for a quick lunch at Borough Market, then I'll probably have a mooch around there (I love it there and find it quite calming, even though it's busy!) and treat myself to something nice to make for dinner, then home to the sofa for the rest of the weekend watching naff telly and box sets. Will avoid v cold food from Thursday evening, giving TCM some credence (and the clairvoyant my mate dragged me to see last year Blush).

I sound like a loon!

Hope everyone else is OK?!

Scan didn't go well. I haven't responded to the stims at all. They've done a blood test to see if it's maybe just taking longer than it should,or if there's nothing there at all. Get the results at 4pm but there's a high chance it'll be cancelled. And they won't try again if it is. Could be the end of the road SadAngry

CareBear1 · 21/03/2012 12:39

Oh no Josie, you must be so gutted, hang in there till 4, hopefully scan was wrong and don't accept it without seeking a second opinion. Thinking of you, massive hugs. X x x

jumpingjackhash · 21/03/2012 12:44

Aw shit Josie, hang on in there until they know what's what later though. I'm sure they wouldn't have started you off on this whole process if they didn't think it you were in with a fighting chance to start with (surely bloods before you started would suggest if you wouldn't respond to stims?).

Thinking of you.

OP posts:
JosieSmith1 · 21/03/2012 12:48

Thanks. Yes bloods did suggest I wouldn't respond, but like an idiot I hoped they would be wrong. I saw the scan, there's nothing at all on my ovaries. The blood test should show if maybe there's some small follicles growing that they couldn't see, in which case we can keep going in the hope they'll grow big enough for egg collection, but if not, well I don't know what next. I'm not expecting to hear good news at four, it feels like any god luck we had in the past ran out when we started TTCing Sad

CareBear1 · 21/03/2012 13:08

What level of drugs have you been on though? Usually people getting started on quite low doses of the stimming drugs to see how they respond to avoid over-stimming, but can then increase doses either during the cycle or on another cycle, have they mentioned this at all?

JosieSmith1 · 21/03/2012 13:12

I've been on the highest dose from the start. I'm going to ask though, I'm still on the buserelin to DR, surely the 2 medications work against each other? Maybe if I just use the stims it'll have more effect? I can't help the feeling that as we're on the NHS, the options that are available when you're paying for private, aren't quite as available

CareBear1 · 21/03/2012 13:18

I can't remember if you did long or short protocol? A different protocol might make a difference, plus different clinics seem to use different drugs from what i've read on here. Maybe just one of the drugs you've been on hasn't agreed with you.

Also, I've found the nurses i've seen in the morning at scans tend to play things down quite a lot, and then once the Consultant gets a look and calls back in the afternoon things seem to be a lot more positive. Hope this is the case with you today.

zeebee1 · 21/03/2012 13:50

Oh no josie that's very annoying. Fingers crossed you get some practical positive advice at 4pm. I agree that perhaps the DR drugs are too counter balancing with the stims- are u going to ask them that on the phone? Sending positive vibes to you!
Wink

jumpingjackhash · 21/03/2012 14:11

Carebear's right Josie, wait to hear what the consultant says, then perhaps ask about a different drug combination too? While different clinics use different drugs, there's little/no difference between NHS and private, private patients will use the same drugs the clinic has selected for all of its patients. However, you should be able to choose a different one if it will help.

AFAIK you need to keep sniffing while stimming to ensure your system is managed, rather than 'doing its own thing'. That's why you reduce the sniffing when you start injecting - the reduced dose helps with management without dominating. That's my understanding (based on no medical expertise, of course Wink).

Karbea · 21/03/2012 14:29

Josie- I think all clinics are very different, I would definitely look a getting a second opinion. Can't recommend the ARGC enough.

Me- 6 of the 8 where mature enough for ICSI and 5 have fertilised...

zeebee1 · 21/03/2012 14:40

Congrats karbea - wonderful news! Grin

CareBear1 · 21/03/2012 15:37

Karbea that's great news!! What a great result, especially compared with what you were expecting only a few days ago.
