Let's make some May babies

The end of July is drawing near; SWI with DP hasn't been as frequent as hoped; and I've decided to err on the side of caution.

So. Here's a thread for anyone else hoping to make a beautiful May 2012 baby.

I am 27 and TTC #1. Been on pill for an age so unsure of cycles. Only been trying for a couple of weeks - the more I type the more I note my wild optimism!!

Anyone else who knows more about this business than I do? Please come and give me some hope that a May baby might be at all possible :)

Hello all, I too want to make a May baby!

I had it all figured out and bought ovulation tests in bulk from Amazon, and then did loads of reading... turns out I was supposed to be tracking temperature and downstairs stickiness too, oh how unnecessary... bought the stuff for those too...
The thing is, I've convinced myself I'm already pregnant- one week post ovulation I had 3 days of cramps, a week and a half before I was due. That never happens... but I can't figure it out for sure because I wasn't tracking, we just got rid of our July visitors and pounced on each other for about a week solid! From my research it looks like I managed to hit my fertile days by accident.
Irritatingly I have no way of telling as I'm already ahem, well upholstered with big boobs, and I eat like a horse and and am generally crabby anyway. No way of knowing now until next Tuesday. Chewing my fingers up to the elbows now in the meantime. Argh!

Rusulka · 02/08/2011 18:09

Forgot to mention I'm 30 and ttc #1. :)

puzzletree · 02/08/2011 18:25

Rusulka sounds like you may well have an April baby in there :)
Anyway just back after having looked at the ovulation calculator --> and if my cycle is average, like I think it probably is, then the optimal days this month are when we are away at a festival, with the kids, camping. Hmm... will be interesting to see if we actually manage this....

mildertduck · 02/08/2011 19:08

Thanks Quenelle and Catsycat - further 'investigations' concluded that it didn't belong to me. Ah well - it was exciting while it lasted.

I feel like I'm 13 all over again and have no chuffing idea about what's going on with my bod.

As an aside, does anyone else remember Naked Frisbee Family from the sex education videos aimed at about Y6 or so in the early Nineties? Husband was 1 year ahead of me at school (though south east not north west) and swears no such video was played at his school. None of my friends seem to remember it either... I swear it happened! I just always wondered what happened to the kids...

threecurrantbuns · 02/08/2011 20:57

Wow this thread has progressed and made me :) well we well and truely had swI last night before dh left for work which was the day of my smilely face on ovulation stick, were hoping to do the same again tonight but he had to go to work early before dcs went to bed ... Bloody work don't they realise they have messed up our swI schedule.

I'm glad the issue or mucus and other bodily fluids has been broached wanted to ask the same a few days ago but wimped out.

Why do two weeks until af or should I say hopefully positives preg test day seem like an age away

notnowImreading · 02/08/2011 21:56

Thanks for the tip re preseed - will look into that. I have a question about mucus (urgh urgh urgh - brings back memories of sex ed with Sister Eilish the science nun at school). How on earth do you know when it's stretchy? Do you hold bits of it? Is it supposed to have plasticity or more liquidness? Ooh got to go. The Hour just got exciting!

Catsycat · 02/08/2011 22:15

notnow, you kind of get a bit between your fingers and pull them apart slowly, and it stretches out (like a stretchy bogie, as loulou put it so eloquentyl!). It's usually kind of clear, like egg whites, at this point, and kind of springy! Before you get to that stage it might be a bit wetter but not so stretchy!!!!! It's all good clean fun on this thread! Grin

Rusulka - hope it's good news for you this month!

Waves to puzzletree!

Rusulka · 02/08/2011 22:30

Thanks Catsycat and Puzzletree. In two minds about it as I quite definitely decided that a May to August birthday was best, as it's equidistant between Christmases-ish. April buggers up my careful scheming somewhat. Although frankly at this point I don't care any more, I just want a baby!

I have not been playing with any mucous, mine or otherwise.

notnowImreading · 02/08/2011 22:34

Yurgh. But thanks - gross fascination awaits in about two weeks if no luck this time round.

Catsycat · 02/08/2011 22:41

He he he!!!!!!!

Best to only play with your own, if you can help it!

louloubellamozzarella · 03/08/2011 00:17

Glad to see that we've got down and dirty with the details re EWCM Blush. But yes, being honest, the only way you can really know the diff is to get in with a feel. notnow I think 'gross fascination' is the right term for this TTC malarkey.

I'm off on hols tomorrow so won't be around for a while.

Just as this thread's growing nicely (hi puzzletree and Rusulka - and anyone else I haven't spotted), I'm off on hols for a few weeks so won't be around for a while.

When I'm back I hope to see some positive test results coming through (positive thinking = BFPs, see!) My hols have come nicely timed for what I hope think is the right time of the month, so fingers crossed; legs uncrossed Grin.

Anywhere nice Loulou?

festiemum · 03/08/2011 09:27

Have a lovely hol Loulou! Hope you get in lots of SWI!

Wow, it's been busy! Hi to everyone! Still SWI, though DP is complaining that he wants his sleep!

Quenelle · 03/08/2011 09:56

I'm very proud and impressed with all the SWIing going on here. Keep it up threecurrantbuns and festie, don't let the DHs rest yet!

Hi puzzletree and Rusulka

Sorry to hear about your MC puzzletree.

Sounds like we might have our first thread BFP soon Rusulka...? How are you feeling today?

Happy holidays Loulou.

notnowImreading · 03/08/2011 10:10

Well, I am officially Not Pregnant yet again. I knew I wasn't but tested just in case and it's a no. It has been a full year now Sad.

Kveta · 03/08/2011 10:19

hi everyone! no SWI here for a few days as work/incredible non-sleeping toddler have got in the way a bit. I'm so bloody knackered! And we're both wondering if we really want a 2nd! :o

however, we have a kitchen again (after a whole month without one!) and being able to do the washing up in the kitchen is making life so so much easier and thus evenings will be a wee bit more relaxed from now on!

have a lovely holiday LouLou :)

Quenelle · 03/08/2011 11:21

Sorry you got a BFN notnow. Has AF actually arrived? Perhaps there's a chance you have tested too early?

Kveta I know all about non-sleeping toddlers. Ours ended up in our bed at 2.30 this morning. The night before though, he slept soundly in his cot until 7am so we take the rough with the smooth (and make the most of the cuddles). You have to try and fit the quickies in where/when you can don't you.

louloubellamozzarella · 03/08/2011 11:47

Thanks guys, I'm off to Italy - aim #1 eating; #2 drinking lots of vino moderately; #3 holiday SWI!

Look forward to checking back into some good news in a couple of weeks Grin

Rusulka · 03/08/2011 12:58

Hello everyone
6 days to AF so did another POAS, but BFN. Thought I saw a reeeeeeeaaaaallly faint line, but DH kindly assured me there was bugger all there (Cheers love).
This is officially the longest week ever. :(
On the possibly plus side, cramps have returned, which is a relief as I moved some stuff around yesterday and have been berating myself ever since.
I still haven't shifted my stubborn wheezy chesty cough- family are nagging me to get some medicine, and it's getting increasingly difficult to dance around why I haven't done it yet. I've already beaten myself up about the beecham's all in one I took at the beginning, but it looks like that would have been pre-implantation (assuming BFP). Tasty though my blackcurrant linctus is, it's not making any difference. Any safe suggestions?
Sick of being in limbo!

loulou enjoy your holiday- nothing like overly friendly deliciously-accented locals for getting the DH's dander up and therefore ensuring lots of nookie!

Kveta · 03/08/2011 13:12

Rusulka, go and see your GP about a chest infection! that will get family off your case, and you can say to him/her that you may be pg, and see what is recommended.

that said, apparently sage tea is good for coughs - not sure if it's contra-indicated in pregnancy (it certainly is in my house, but that's because a) it reeks, and b) it's tea), but worth researching. I have absolute tons of sage in the garden if you want some posted :o and even if you don't :o

Quenelle, our toddler has never been an even adequate sleeper - we're lucky if he sleeps 8 hours in total normally. last night was a good night, but 4.30 am is not my favourite time to have my boobs manhandled and to have a small person shrieking 'MILK!' at me. We have actually resorted to drugging him some mornings Blush it gets us another 2 hours in bed, and makes him a much nicer person. yes, I am a bad mother...

mildertduck · 03/08/2011 13:28

I'm still keeping my fingers crossed for you, notnow - might it just be a wee (excuse the pun) bit early and there's still time before AF's due?

Quenelle · 03/08/2011 13:39

Rusulka it's still very early days. If you can't get to your GP you could ask a pharmacist what would be safe to use. They were very helpful when I was BFing and wanted recommendations for cough/cold medicine (almost none is suitable as it turns out).

Kveta that sounds tough. DS is currently going through a phase of hitting the roof if we leave him alone in his room at night. We have to take it in turns to lie next to the cot until he is asleep and then tiptoe out. I just don't have the will to do CC again, I can't live with the guilt.

repeat after me 'This too shall pass...'

notnowImreading · 03/08/2011 13:40

Thanks mildert. At least if I'm not pg I don't have to worry about a pointy-head baby due to the wine excesses of Saturday night (and the one before)! I'm going to clear the decks and behave as if my body is a temple...except when I'm on holiday next week, which will be before ovulation so all bets are off and Turkish beer is on.

notnowImreading · 03/08/2011 13:42

I'm honestly not such a drunken strumpet as I sound! It's just the first week of the summer holidays and as such doesn't count Smile

notnowImreading · 03/08/2011 13:43

Have a lovely holiday Loulou - come back with details if you recommend the place.
