Let's make some May babies

The end of July is drawing near; SWI with DP hasn't been as frequent as hoped; and I've decided to err on the side of caution.

So. Here's a thread for anyone else hoping to make a beautiful May 2012 baby.

I am 27 and TTC #1. Been on pill for an age so unsure of cycles. Only been trying for a couple of weeks - the more I type the more I note my wild optimism!!

Anyone else who knows more about this business than I do? Please come and give me some hope that a May baby might be at all possible :)

Can I just shout BLLCKS????

Had a bit of spotting yesterday and this morning my temperature was quite a bit higher. Looks like I might have ovulated - the day before DH gets back from work. Damn, damn, damn.

My only hope is that it was a freak temperature reading / random bit at the end of my period, rather than ov, but not holding out much hope. Absolutely gutted - after the mc I so wanted to have the best chance of getting pg again straight away. DH can't see that this is a big deal, said there are no guarantees of getting pg first try, and said he had tried to be home at the right time, as I'd said I thought it might be around day 12 (this is day 8). I said I was sorry my body had failed to fit in with his work diary. So fed up!!!! :(

festiemum · 29/07/2011 09:48

Oh threecurrantbuns, I feel your pain. Trying to sneak in a crafty one while three small people are around is nigh on impossible!

Last time we tried it drinks were needed, arguments settled and finally a skinned knee needed kissing, by which point the moment had passed and we knew we were beaten! Good luck with that!

Quenelle · 29/07/2011 10:05

Morning all. Hi mskate.

threecurrantbuns will you be able to get some SWI in this weekend?

Catsycat sorry to hear ov has happened early for you Sad

Loulou how long is your cycle? We might be cycle buddies this month.

Think AF might be here today. It's been one of those heavy PMT months so it can't come soon enough tbh. I think I ov'd early because it usually comes on the Tuesday

At least it means Operation KUMQUAT is a GO next weekend Grin

mskatemc · 29/07/2011 10:33

Hello all

Loulou trying to think of gin as the consolation prize if AF comes before the trip. Don't worry I'll be adding tonic and perhaps a citrus slice.

It's only my 2nd month of trying but we've been talking about it for so long I feel like it needs to happen now now now! Treating it a bit like a super project so swi doesn't feel too awkward, we've got into our stride after a dry first month. Ov any day now, come along little egg...

p.s. can I have Kids At The End?

louloubellamozzarella · 29/07/2011 12:46

Catsy, of course; expletives, dirty minds and inappropriate acronyms are positively encouraged here :)

I wouldn't worry too much though if you're not sure if it's ov time or not, the best thing you can do is go for it anyway when your DH is back in town - nothing to lose eh?

Quenelle, I'm not sure I even have a cycle anymore! Been on pill for so long... Came off it Monday two weeks ago. Thought AF had arrived on Weds but it's been on and off and really light so don't know what to think (always had heavy flow before - apols for TMI!!). Hopefully we can be cycle buds as I'd like to be sure that those lil eggs are eventually going to be released again!

mskate - I'm kind of the same; we have been thinking about it for a while and I'm so impatient that I need it to happen right now! With you on the gin. Just out of interest, are people laying off the drink completely while TTC?? I know some people do, but not sure how common it is...?

OP posts:
kat2504 · 29/07/2011 12:49

I imagine it might be a bit more common with people in their first month or so. However, after months of disappointment, many good intentions can go out of the window. It can take ages to conceive so I am not laying off the wine for all that time and then having to abstain totally for a further 9 months. A bit of sensible drinking is not going to do any harm. I cut back a bit the week before my period is due in case I am pregnant but that is all. Moderation is the key and all that.

kat2504 · 29/07/2011 12:52

sorry catsy cycles can be so unpredictable right after a miscarriage. Mine went the opposite way and I took ages to ovulate. By the time it finally came around it was not such good timing anymore. Are you using OPKs? I wouldn't go on temperature alone as you could be just getting misleading readings.

Catsycat · 29/07/2011 15:35

Thanks ladies. Hoping it was just a dodgy temp. Now I think about it, the CM is not right for me to have ov yet (sorry if TMI), not sure what is going on. Kat I haven't ever had much luck with OPKs - tried them the month I got pg with DD2, never got a positive reading! Was going to try them anyway from today, but haven't done it yet - will try in a minute. Have also ordered a saliva microscope, as it sounds fun, but have read that it can show ferning all the time after a mc, depending on how much of the hormones are left over. It hasn't arrived yet, but I will enjoy examining my spit immensely! loulou is right - nothing to lose in a bit of SWI, so will resume original plan and hope!

threecurrantbuns can you employ the electronic babysitter and sneak off with DH???? Hope you get chance to DTD!!

loulou I don't drink anyway, but am laying off anything I can right now, except cake. Currently very snotty as have stopped my nasal spray and antihistamines, and have gone onto decaf tea and coffee. I am ultra paranoid because of the mc, but I think most things in moderation is probably OK. As I said, I am very very paranoid. I hope your cycle sorts itself out soon - it's years since I came off the pill, after taking it for probably 8 years or so, and I do remember that AF was much lighter and a day or so shorter afterwards (still is).

mskate, good acronym! Glad I'm not the only one wanting to get pg NOW.

Hope we all have a good weekend - let the SWI commence!!!!

Quenelle · 29/07/2011 15:55

I don't get the chance to drink much these days anyway. Usually just a glass of wine a night over the weekend. I would find it very hard to give up tea though, DS is a rubbish sleeper and I'm always tired, I need tea to get me through a day at work.

Let's have no more apologising for TMI or crudeness - that's what this thread is for! Who else can we describe our EWCM to if not each other? And my RL friends who know him would not want to hear the ins and outs (ahem) of my sex life with DH Grin

Have fun temping, testing and SWIing this weekend everyone.

Kveta · 29/07/2011 17:44

I'm not a big drinker anyway - plus am still feeding DS, so don't want to get pished! I'm not changing my habits at all really, except much more SWI :o

I have no idea about how to monitor my cycle - I just know it's about 39/40 days between periods (I hate calling it AF as my name can be shortened to Flo, and I'm an auntie Blush). and sometimes I get sore nipples during feeds mid-cycle, which can be attributed to ovulation. but I'm not really monitoring days I'm ovulating - just SWI much much more. Will start working out what CM etc means if I'm not pg by the end of the year :o

festiemum · 29/07/2011 18:30

I get far too het up about cycles and such nonsense Kveta - supposed not to be this time but..... we'll see!! Surely, as long as you SWI plenty in the middle week, you've covered your bases, as it were! That's going to be my approach this time anyway!!

Quenelle - green light to crudeness; fab! So, flaps, baps, bum, wee, knob.
I know, I know, puerile as f**k!!!!

May the force be with you all in your SWI endeavours this weekend ladies!! :o

threecurrantbuns · 29/07/2011 20:41

I also try not to get het up with all the cycle nonsense, but then cant help myself ive now started on the ovualtion test...i know already!! Everyday i dont get a smilely face i panci that something is wrong and im not ovulateing as the pill is still in my system or because i only stopped bf 3mth ago!!

I was suppose to be going with the flow and when it happens it happens lol!

Dh starts nights on monday and leaves the house at 930pm so i thinking swi tonight, sunday and monday before he goes to work...making me feel tired thinking about it. Who said romance is dead Grin

threecurrantbuns · 29/07/2011 20:42

lots of typos...crap at typing quicklyBlush

louloubellamozzarella · 29/07/2011 22:30

Quenelle, the floodgates have opened now... bastadly blding bllocks... Ahh that feels good :)

Enjoy your weekends examining discharge (yes, I said it without any acronym, ha!), temperature, counting up cycle days and of course as much shagging as possible. I will be limbering up for my slice of the action next week when I've seen the back of this blasted period.

OP posts:
louloubellamozzarella · 29/07/2011 22:31

Ha I forgot to star out the first 'b' word properly and even spelt it wrong - it's been a looong week.

OP posts:
mskatemc · 31/07/2011 01:52

Oh dear, now I am worried to have given the impression of being a gin-soaked lush... And I'm not, hardly at all... Promise! I normally don't drink much but I've avoided any for the last few months and am trying to eat well, guzzle my Boots Conception Support tablets and generally live an entirely virtuous and angelic life... But if I do come on the same day I go on holiday... Well I think I may as well look on the bright side and start slicing lemons.

Nope, that still makes me sound like a lush, doesn't it.

mskatemc · 31/07/2011 01:57

Also threecurrants I am exactly the same, meant to be letting nature take its course but actually getting in a tizz about pink lines, blue lines, little flowers and the rest. Convinced after years of militant (I'm avoiding the term anal) contraception, I will turn out of have infertility probs, premature menopause or actually be a man.

orangehead · 31/07/2011 18:48

louloubellamozzarella · 31/07/2011 22:41

Hi ladies. Hope you've had good weekends. After a horribly busy week at work and a full weekend on a course I'm finally on holiiiiday for two weeks - phew! Looking forward to plenty of SW plenty of I Grin.

mskate - well I'm fairly sure you're not a man if you've come this far, so you can rule that one out. Lush, maybe - but you are going to be on holiday time so it's fiiine.

orange, welcome to the fold! I'm afraid we're not a bus as such, but those transport related metaphors seem awfully taxing, so hope you enjoy the chilled out slightly neurotic, encouragement minds in the gutter in here Grin. Good luck to you for May!

My AF has well and truly gone and only lasted three days - on and very much off. Hm. Not sure what to make of that. Was it even a period?! Oh well, on with the trying, till next period or preg test; whichever comes first.

OP posts:
kat2504 · 01/08/2011 06:30

Early days yet, only 11dpo, but it looks as if I might be having an April baby after all if this one is successful :)

Good luck to you all!

festiemum · 01/08/2011 09:18

Hi all, welcome orange!

Well, despite the fact I'm being 'laid back' about it all, and not charting etc, I can't help having a sneaky look at me fanny batter every day. And today I'm on day 11, and have sretchy vag stuff, despite the fact, in the past, that I have usually ovulated around day 18!!

So, who knows?! Plenty of SWI I guess whatever it means!!

Ooh, Kat; are you symptom spotting?! Fingers crossed for you! :)

Loulou, I sympathise, it's really hard not to analyse every little thing, isn't it? I only had my mirena out last month, so not sure what my cycle's doing either!

orangehead · 01/08/2011 09:44

Fx Kat.
Festie swi= shagging with intent. Sounds like a plan, the stretchy stuff must be obeyed Grin.
Lou must be difficult when you been on the pill for a while to know what nomal for you.
Looks like af comng to an end today, so back in action tomorrow hopefully Grin

Kveta · 01/08/2011 10:06

:o @ mskate being a man If I hadn't already had a baby, I'd be having exactly the same thoughts :o I'm currently convincing myself that I'll turn out to be infertile and DS will be an only child.

pretty sure I should be ovulating this week (if my cycles are even half way to being regular Hmm) so lots of early nights for DH and I :o although we're having early nights anyway due to HorrorChild waking at 4 every morning and refusing to go back down.

notnowImreading · 01/08/2011 10:29

Can I join? We've been ttc for just over a year, one early mc a couple of months ago. My AF is due on Weds and I definitely think it's on it's way despite the sterling work put into the shagging this month. Probably a good thing as have been hitting the wine pretty hard in an end of term frenzy - usually I'm not such an alkie but as someone said earlier, laying off the sauce for months and months and frickin' months is not the easiest thing in the world. Must try harder!

threecurrantbuns · 01/08/2011 10:38

Lol can't help examining mucus either. On a positive note I've hot a smile of my ovulation test this am so looks like ill be jumping dh before he leaves for work tonight :)
