Let's make some May babies

The end of July is drawing near; SWI with DP hasn't been as frequent as hoped; and I've decided to err on the side of caution.

So. Here's a thread for anyone else hoping to make a beautiful May 2012 baby.

I am 27 and TTC #1. Been on pill for an age so unsure of cycles. Only been trying for a couple of weeks - the more I type the more I note my wild optimism!!

Anyone else who knows more about this business than I do? Please come and give me some hope that a May baby might be at all possible :)

Ohhhh I wrote a long message then it disappeared :(

So the gist of it was...

GTR, I hear you with reasons to be cheerful. This thread has really kept me going these past few weeks and is making me feel that I'm not a complete obsessive TTC freak on me own Grin.

Duke, loving that website! Will have a proper look this eve in about five mins when I get bored of work.

Catsy, any news? Anyone else got any pee-related updates?! I'll be testing on Wednesday - it's as good a random date as any given that I haven't a clude if/when I ov'd!

desperate EAT THE FUDGE!

I am soooooo fed up! Have so many 'symptoms', but not convinced, and got BFN on test (AF due Weds). So, I've resolved myself to not being pg, then get in bath and see scary, dark veins all over my chest which I've read is a pg symptom. I feel sick; I'm shattered; I have a 'full' pg feeling. But BFN. It should be there by now, so I don't think I am: my body has done this to me before.

My best advice to anyone who thinks they want to TTC is to spend a month hyper-analysing your body through a normal cycle. I sometimes wonder if some of these 'symptoms' are normal cycle for me, but I don't pay that much attention when I'm not TTC.

louloubellamozzarella · 22/08/2011 09:54

Kinky aw, hope you find out soon either way. I agree with your advice re hyper analysing. I had awful crampy feelings a week and a bit ago which I thought was AF arriving but now I'm thinking was more likely ov pains...never even given this a passing thought before!!

OP posts:
desperateoldie67 · 22/08/2011 09:58

I've eaten half the fudge...now I feel sick! LMAO! I was absolutely convinced AF was going to arrive about an hour ago - evil cramps - and now they've gone again! I POAS this morning, but still a BFN, so I'm guessing she'll make an appearance soon :(

I totally agree with your last paragraph Kinky. I've charted properly for the first time this month - and still I'm not sure about what my 'normal' CM patterns are. I wanted to put a link to my chart on Countdowntopregnancy, but it's not working. I have no idea how people link to their charts cos it never works for me. I can't link to my FF chart either...

Do you know how to do it Kinky?

RIBS · 22/08/2011 10:03

Morning Ladies. Anyone got any brownies please, my poor little brain is in hyperdrive. Apologising for TMI in advance
Have had very hectic wkend and Saturday night, just before girls (very overdue) night out got a visit from AF! Bollocks! Well, at least I can have a drink now.

Had 3 drinks - started to feel bit crappy, thought it was the food. Went to loo. AF has gone. Reappeared Sunday morn (bit brown very light) Went again and only a bit again this morn.
No sore boobs, no symptoms of anything.
Is this implantation or am I just having the worlds lightest period?
Or am I just hyperventilating for nothing?

desperateoldie67 · 22/08/2011 10:06

Hi RIBS...the short answer is I haven't a clue...but the other answer is, it sounds promising :)

Whereabouts are you in your cycle? Scratch that...I've just looked back at your stats...in which case "could be Hong Kong Phoey" :o

louloubellamozzarella · 22/08/2011 10:13

Don't worry about fudge desperate, you need to keep your energy levels up Grin

Sending some virtual triple choc brownies your way, RIBS.

Ohh all this talk of baking; I might make some cupcakes tonight to stuff my gob with after yoga :)

Hmm RIBS - sounds like it could be implantation if the timing is right... I had a similar thing a couple of weeks after I came off the pill at the start of July... thought it was my first AF but it was really light (am usually cursed by heavy periods - well I was when I used to have them!) and on-off-on-off so much that I didn't know what to think. Still don't know whether it was AF/withdrawal bleed/implantation (prob not)/ov pains... The only thing you can do is wait and see, which SUCKS.

When do you think you'll be able to test at the earliest??

OP posts:
RIBS · 22/08/2011 10:28

I think another 10-14 days. I think if it is implantation, by the time I can test the sore boobs, and other symptoms will have turned up.
But also thinking that if it is Af and its this light then maybe am not actually ovulating. FFS.
Thats a lot of thinking for one person!! Particularly this one!
Thats for the brownies. They were delicious - low fat too mmmmm.

louloubellamozzarella · 22/08/2011 10:35

1% fat and 10 cals a brownie, don't you know. Made from the finest white, milk and plain Swiss chocolate; Austrian mountain milk butter; thrice milled gluten free flour and erm free range eggs from the Scottish highlands. I wish they existed...

I feel your pain. I never thought a) there was so much to the menstrual cycle; b) making a baby would be so goddamn tricky.

OP posts:
RIBS · 22/08/2011 10:46

Was so lucky last time. It just happened without trying. Bit of a shock tho. But can cope with that.
Its all the effort and brain work that goes into it. Its a good job guys dont have babys the population would have ended years ago!!
Mine's bad enough with a cold and cant even touch his toes let alone do 2 things at once!!

GTR2882 · 22/08/2011 11:05

I know what you mean RIBS my DH thinks that it's just a simple case of having some SWI and the job is done - does not really understand why i take my temperature every morning, put sticks in my wee every evening and why i have started to insist on using a lubricant (although he wasn't complaining last night Wink).

I am really concerned that i am not ovulating at all - i had a very similar situation last month when i thought that i may have had implantation bleeding because AF arrived after spotting for 2 days, was extremely light for 2 days, spotted for a further day and then it was gone! I know i definitely did not ovulate the month before this because AF never showed at all! Confused

notnowImreading · 22/08/2011 11:38

Okay, so my previous post was a whinge about having no symptoms - now I need help in keeping myself in check. Remind me that there are all sorts of reasons for these symptoms:
Sore boobs - but slept on my front last night
Abdominal twinges - but getting over tummy bug
Irritable - but my husband was being spectacularly annoying yesterday
Exhausted - but my horrid teenage stepdaughter and her drunk friends made loads of noise when they came in at 2am
Patchy skin - but have just been on holiday in the sunshine and sadly tan has faded super fast

I don't know how many days post ovulation I am - probably 5 but not absolutely sure as signs were confusing - but AF is not due until 1st Sept. I have lots of different tests in stock but don't want to waste them or obsess too much too early. MC in May so need to stay calm as much as possible.

What can I do to stop the mind-whirl? X

KinkyDorito · 22/08/2011 13:14

To do a link desperate, just open the page up and copy and paste the address into double square brackets (double square brackets)www.blah.blah.blah.com(close double square brackets).

So, for saucy man see files-cdn.formspring.me/profile/20110331/n4d94423d03694.jpg

And if you want words rather than address to appear as a link, copy and paste the address as before, but leave a space and write what you want it to say before you close your double square brackets, like so:

oh, if I must...

KinkyDorito · 22/08/2011 13:17

desperate That's just for normal links though. I will right click on a picture and open in a new tab, then copy and paste that address. I hope this works for your charts. Sorry if you already knew how to link and I've just told you again! At least I've given you something nice to look at whilst you finish the fudge Wink.

KinkyDorito · 22/08/2011 13:19

I am resigning myself to waiting for AF, and trying to eat better and drink less caffeine. It means another month of having to have sex with DH. At least he'll be pleased Grin. I suspect it's the only reason he's agreeing to 3...

desperateoldie67 · 22/08/2011 13:27

Thanks Kinky...but I could do the links, but I think because I need to log in to my account to see my charts for some reason that was stopping the links working...

Right...let's have a go...

www.fertilityfriend.com/home/33d8cf

OK...this seems to work. I was doing fine until I had a big dip this morning. Thing was, I took my temp first, it was 36.14, then I took it 2 minutes later (still having done nothing, spoken or moved particularly) and it was 36.34. So I've put the first one. However, AF still hasn't turned up (which is unusual) and isn't showing any signs...again! I quit! I wanna go home (and other pathetic whingeing).

desperateoldie67 · 22/08/2011 13:30

My chart looks all over the place... :(

KinkyDorito · 22/08/2011 13:36

I am clueless with charts as I've never done it. It looks complicated! What brand of test have you been using to get BFN?

KinkyDorito · 22/08/2011 13:39

I've looked on the site that duke linked to yesterday, and Superdrug tests get great reviews. A Boots one picked up DS on first day of missed AF with a very clear result (and it was lunchtime, not first wee of the day).

desperateoldie67 · 22/08/2011 13:40

I used cheap tests and I used a first response too - and both gave a BFN.

It's actually not that complicated. Mostly with sites like FF, you just fill in the temps and CM and cervix position etc and it does the rest for you! Nice and simples :)

desperateoldie67 · 22/08/2011 13:45

Well I POAS this morning - so FMU...and a BFN, so I'm guessing I'm not. But I wish AF would get a wriggle on if that's the case and then I can get trying again! Hmm

KinkyDorito · 22/08/2011 13:52

Cervix position Confused. My cervix is awkward. Like the rest of me Grin.

My plan for the next couple of months is to eat better, take my pills, and have lots of SWI. If nothing happens, then I will proceed with the charting. It took a year to catch DS; DD was an 'accident' when I was younger.

I don't want to wait a year again. I'd just got to take stage where they were going to do a laposcopy on me, but fell PG (they thought I had endometriosis). I know when they scanned me that I had one polycystic ovary, but caught DS before I had chance to explore what that would actually mean in terms of my fertility. If an average, healthy couple has a 1 in 4 chance of conception each month, then it will take me a bit longer. This doesn't stop me stamping my foot and wanting it right now though!

As long as it happens eventually. I suppose when you have 2 already, you become complacent. I am very grateful for my 2DC but I would be very Sad not to manage a third. Greedy? Moi?

desperateoldie67 · 22/08/2011 14:00

Yup...greedy! :-P

I'd like one. If I can manage that I'll be happy. Not sure about DP's point of view, but well, he's got years, and I haven't.

Fell pregnant accidentally when I was 18 and had a termination due to lack of somewhere to live thanks to mother throwing me out. Didn't want to do it, but didn't have an awful lot of choice at that point in time. Haven't wanted a child since...then met current DP and it's all I can think about!

It's not as if it's my biological clock or anything - that should have been ticking (nay, screaming at me!) years ago and hasn't. It's DP's fault for being so gorgeous LOL! :o

bradderswantsababy · 22/08/2011 15:34

Hello just checking in (I have had a name change from imisswhitewine!)

I think I have turned into a crazy woman at the moment. I am now on my 2WW but every time I have the slightest sort of symptom I am searching the web for answers!!

My list so far is cramps, feeling full when not really eaten much, palpitations and feeling increasingly tired.

I am sure I'm not PG as this is my first month off the pill after over 10 years and more likely that the above symptoms are due to my body not being pumped with chemical hormones.

Is anyone else becoming slightly manic about TCC? Confused
