Let's make some May babies

The end of July is drawing near; SWI with DP hasn't been as frequent as hoped; and I've decided to err on the side of caution.

So. Here's a thread for anyone else hoping to make a beautiful May 2012 baby.

I am 27 and TTC #1. Been on pill for an age so unsure of cycles. Only been trying for a couple of weeks - the more I type the more I note my wild optimism!!

Anyone else who knows more about this business than I do? Please come and give me some hope that a May baby might be at all possible :)

Rusulka I think once you have stopped bleeding and have a negative test you're ok to start trying again. Negative test should mean that everything is out of your system, mine lasted for a good while after my miscarriage but then that was further on (9 weeks). To put your mind at ease speak to a GP, but I'm pretty sure they'll say it's fine to start trying again straight away, we were told we could start as soon as we felt ready.

festiemum · 15/08/2011 21:25

Oh Rusulka, so sorry to hear that.

Don't really have anything to add, but wanted you to know you are in my thoughts, and have the support of everyone here. xxx

HeidiHole · 15/08/2011 21:54

Rusulka I'm so sorry that is really crap. I'm thinking of you emotions must be all over the place.

I know you will pick yourself up and dust yourself down, maybe get yourself checked at the GP for reassurance before starting trying again

notnowImreading · 15/08/2011 22:04

Sorry to hear your news Rusulka. That's rotten for you. I would go to the GP, even though probably all they will say is 'poor you'. It might be possible to have a scan at the early pregnancy unit to see whether it's all gone and clear - I know I would have liked to know that after my mc. People on the mc forums have mentioned an ERPC - I don't know what that stands for but I think it's some kind of clear-round if the miscarriage doesn't complete naturally. On the other hand, your body will most likely take care of itself. It took me 11 days to get a negative test after I stopped bleeding. Once it came it was a big relief to know we could try again. See how you feel in a couple of weeks.

notnowImreading · 15/08/2011 22:13

I keep appearing at the top of the list but AF arrived on schedule so I've moved myself down to the next round. Did plenty of SWI on holiday (side issue: has anyone else ever managed to have sex in a swimming pool? We tried man/womanfully but simply couldn't do it and don't know why) but currently on CD12 so should be ovulating in a couple of days, which means that probably the good work put in over the last week will come to nowt and the much-less-romantic surroundings of home complete with visiting parents-in-law will have to do the job instead.

Congratulations MammaInTheMaking - great to see a BFP. Is anyone else up the duff yet? I've been skim reading but there were 11 pages since I last logged on and I don't want to miss anyone out. Congratulations on your talented shagging and excellent parts if you are!

Rusulka, really sorry to hear your news. I'm glad your partner is being supportive.

Mama5isalive · 16/08/2011 00:25

Rusulka - i am so very Sad about your loss, please take good care of your self and let your DP look after you while you deal with your feelings!
and hope to see you real soon - I pray you will get your hearts desire and never give up on Hope.
sending you a massive cyber hug from all the Maycrew!

Quenelle · 16/08/2011 10:34

Sorry Rusulka Sad hope you're doing ok and DH is looking after you. You are rocking that sunkissed waterskiing babe look by the way.

mildertduck love the sound of your Team America-style ovulating - FUCK YEAH! I'm taking Boots Concept Plus this time because they're cheaper than Pregnacare Conception but I think have the same ingredients.

running types I've only done parkrun once because 9am Saturday can be busy chez Quenelle. I'm hoping to get there this weekend though because I loved it. It has all the fun and cameraderie of a race without the pressure (I always get nervous before races, even though there's no chance I'm going to win it or anything).

Welcome home Louloubella. Sounds like a lovely holiday. FX for a May bambino then.

festiemum congratulations for tomorrow. How exciting! I hope you have a super day and a BFP to celebrate too.

Tibbycat · 16/08/2011 10:59

So ovulation is tomorrow and my man has a bad back!!! He's sure he'll be able to rise to the occasion anyway.

Sn0wGoose · 16/08/2011 11:03

mildertduck I'm taking sanatogen multi vits plus folic acid, which works out the same as pregnacare but ££ cheaper

Kveta · 16/08/2011 11:19

don't take regular multi-vitamin tablets btw - it's not recommended in pregnancy as they have higher levels of vitamin A than you should take, plus (I think) some have selenium, which I believe can be teratogenic. better to take a formulation specifically for pg women :) news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/health/4699041.stm

louloubellamozzarella · 16/08/2011 11:26

Quenelle, you've inspired me to try parkrun this Sat. Really no excuse for not getting up and out once in a while and I do love a run once I'm out there. The park's less than a mile away too so I can jog down there to warm up wake up.

Also loving the Team America ovulation. Still no AF for me and feel crappy with sore tummy and cold. Went to yoga last night after doing a run at lunchtime and felt awful - like I was going to get a migraine, which in my books means losing vision and nausea.

Not sure if it was doing too much (body in shock after weeks of eating ice cream and pizza) or something else! Feel a lot better today but still not great. Going to take the 'hell yeah' approach seriously and make sure I start taking my vits and eating better again. Also plenty of SWI as I'm not getting my hopes up too much for a BFP as I'm not even sure whether my first 'period' was a real one or pill withdrawal bleed.

Ok, sorry about that last paragraph - no more feeling sorry for myself! Going to have a nice long hot shower tonight (damn lack of bath at home) and maybe a glass of vino and chill out a bit :)

Anyone done any preg tests/got any coming up this week? Think I'll have to wait till end of Aug realistically - no more opportunistic peeing on sticks for me (have done a few just to 'test' - ridiculous really - think it's just the novelty factor as it's my first time trying am impatient as hell Blush).

Quenelle · 16/08/2011 11:30

Does anyone else get an upset stomach when they take conception supplements? I've had a really (ahem) squitty tummy for a week now which does coincide with when I started the Conception Support.

Really not sure about it though, I forgot to take one yesterday and I still had a dicky tummy when I woke up this morning.

Or perhaps it's a very (very, very) early preggo sign...

Quenelle · 16/08/2011 11:31

Do it Louloubella parkrun will change your life, I swear to God

orangehead · 16/08/2011 11:56

Agree with Quenelle parkrun will change your life Smile Im not doing it this week though as doing a 17 mile walk with dh on saturday, with a ice pub lunch in the middle

louloubellamozzarella · 16/08/2011 12:23

Quenelle + orangehead, wow; sold! Will be good to get back into regular ex classes - used to do loads but since I stopped paying £60 a month for gym membership it's all stopped... I knew there was a reason I was wasting all that money...

Quenelle - I've heard that iron supplements can have this effect as the iron isn't easily absorbed in tablet form. I used to be anaemic so to bypass it took spatone (liquid) sachets. It could be the iron in the supplements maybe making your tummy icky??

Alternatively, from checking out the infallible Hmm wiki (geek); it also seems that an increase in iron in the body creates a more favourable enviroment for bacterial growth (reduction in resistance) - so it could be what's going on in your digestive system - wiki

Of course, it could be any of the other vits in the supplement. Hope you sort it out!

Sn0wGoose · 16/08/2011 12:28

Wow, thanks for that kveta I didn't realise!

louloubellamozzarella · 16/08/2011 12:49

..also forgot to add Quenelle you could of course be up the duff Grin.

The multivit thing's v interesting - didn't realise that either and have been taking reg ones, oops... lunchtime trip to Boots starts about now!

imisswhitewine · 16/08/2011 12:54

Just checking in been lost going on since I last posted. Congrats to all with a BFP. I have been SWI which has been most enjoyable and seems coming off my pill has increased the s.drive woo hoo!!

Louloubella Welcome back from your holiday. I too have been POAS just to check I think its perhaps just something you do when you start TCC!!

In theory I should be OV (although Im not testing or anything yet as still not has 1sf AF since coming off the pill ) and my DH is working away till Thurs. Have told him to pre paired for copious amounts of SWI.

Quenelle · 16/08/2011 12:56

That must be it Louloubella I've developed a metallic taste in my mouth today as well. I might go back to just taking folic acid then. Thanks for the info.

HeidiHole · 16/08/2011 13:24

Have you all made sure that your DH/DP's are taking supplements too? They are just as important as the ladies ones.

They contain zinc and folic acid (yes in the mens!) which is proven to have a big impact on sperm mobility and formation.

My husband and I both religiously take our tablet with dinner every night, makes us feel we're doing all we can!

So anyone who hasn't got their DH drugged up... get to boots, buy some, and stick the tablet on the table next to their dinner so they remember to take it!

puzzletree · 16/08/2011 13:35

I've been taking pregnacare for ages now, was on special offer somewhere in May I guess! Was taking Spatone too as I've been anaemic in both previous pregnancies and wanted to try and prevent it this time (and avoid the dreaded iron pills), but I've run out of them now, think I'll just get more if/when I get pregnant again.
Folic acid's the important one, if you have a good diet anyway. I'm vegetarian so perhaps am a bit deficient in some other vits too.

louloubellamozzarella · 16/08/2011 14:34

OOh Quenelle - metallic taste could be a preg sign as well though - keep an eye on other symptoms!

Nipped over to Boots at lunch and got three packs of conception vits on their neverending 3-4-2 offer. They are veggie too, hurrah! Might pop back to get some for DP tomorrow Grin.

Tibbycat · 16/08/2011 14:45

Hello all! Hoping someone can tell me that this has happened to them. OV due tomorrow by the 14 day rule but my VD had not changed at all. Still stickyish (as per normal). Worried i'm not OV. I seemed to have more egg White VD days ago but not enough to stretch it etc. Usually always seem too before OV very odd the one month we're trying! I think it's called sods law??!! Wink

Loving all the Romance with hubby which since last period (and coil removal) has been daily ... Woohoo, ever-likely his back is aching Grin ! A friend who is also ttc told me off and said it sounded mechanical but we're happy as we are.

Keep feeling like my period is on the brink of starting (it's days away, due 31st). Could be OV I guess? Boobs were very sore in bed last night but passed now.

Any info, stories or words of comfort welcome Smile
