Well its about time you had a new thread.
I wanted to wish you all the best of luck with your trying to conceive and say that it might take weeks months or years, but you won't find a better group for support.
We have all been through the same experinces and talking to someone who has felt the same makes a world of difference.
You will all get your BFP's soon and in the meantime, lets try and keep as calm and de-stressed as possible.

carlychristmas · 01/12/2005 12:11

ooh who else is training to be a mw? Me too im at college at the moment doing maths to get me on the access to nursing course (i didnt get my maths at school cos i was too naughty to do my gcse )
Mygarland thanks for doing the link for me im so cr*p at this sort of thing

jinglediddle · 01/12/2005 12:17

it feels like we haven't talked about ttc for ages, where is everyone in the ttc stakes, anyone due for testing?

OP posts:
carlychristmas · 01/12/2005 12:21

DIDDLE my af is due next saturday so i am banning myself from doing any early tests you see some of the early tests claim to be able to detect pg between 8-10 dpo which means that i could poss test on sunday but i wont (well ill try ) how about anyone else? I cant remember who else is ttc is it just me and ASH?

slinksanta · 01/12/2005 12:28

Hi everyone,
I looked into being a midwife years ago, i thought there was a test/exam you could do to get onto the course if you didn't have gcse's and alevels. if your a mature student you can usually get onto degree level courses without previous qualifications.

jinglediddle · 01/12/2005 12:30

there must be more of you ttc than that. not sure if ASH is actively trying at the moment.

Don't you get tempted to test, hang onto that will power. you will get a stronger result if you wait. Plus i'd hate for you to go through what maddyd did, and get your positive early and then have an early miscarriage that we would just pass of as an AF normally. Heartbreaking.

Come on you can do it!!

OP posts:
carlychristmas · 01/12/2005 12:36

I know thats part of the reason why i dont want to know until its def i couldnt face that i will wait till next saturday thats providing my af doesnt turn up before that. Today i have lots of small crampy feelings not sure what they are and im trying not to read too much into things cos it can drive me crazy .
Please dont tell me im doingthis maths course for nothing i called learn direct to enquire about mw and they told me the quickest way to do it would be through the access to nursing course and for that there are min requirements one of them being maths gcse at grade c or above. Damn buggar silly learn direct woman!!! Oh well looks like i will have to go through with this maths course and go for my first choice of profession - Brain surgeon

slinksanta · 01/12/2005 12:46

its probably differnt nowadays carly don't worry im sure you are on the right course. i will look up to see if these entry exams exist still.

mincepee · 01/12/2005 12:49

My next test date is 25th December... Don't want to think about it too much..

I haven't decided whether it's a good or bad omen.

Will not be touching a drop of alcohol between then and now. Am doing exactly as the doctor says. DH can do what he wants as I am the problem not him.

Atomicstockinghanger · 01/12/2005 13:19

Carly and Mincepee - fingers crossed for noth of you xxx Mincepee, it might be an omen!!

I am starting an Access to Further Education course in January, which is designed for people going onto Midwifery, nursing and other health related degrees. As part of the Access course I will be applying for my Midwifery Degree place.

You can do a Diploma in Midwifery too, which you only need the GCSE requirements for. For the degree you need 3 A-levels grade C or above, or an Access Course certifacate. I was told the best way to go about it was to do the Access course because, although they can't garentee you a place on the Midwifery course, it gives you the best chance. And about 99% of applicants from the Access do get places

Atomicstockinghanger · 01/12/2005 13:20

As far as TTC is concerned, DH and I are not "being careful" but with his small problem at the moment, I doubt very much I will get PG. So, I am just trying to forget about trying

mygarland · 01/12/2005 13:26

I worked out this morning that I'm on CD11 so bd this morning. CD 14 is Sat when we've got my parents staying! Dunno how long cycle will be as took 6wks for Af to arrive after stopped pill but was bf too, so really dunno how long to wait!

Mincepee - hope it is a good omen but we'll have to see. When u find a pic on t'internet of 'me'! then click on the address bar (where u type www.etc in) and press Ctrl, whilst still holding it down press 'c' . then when u type your msg on here type \link{ hold down Ctrl and press 'v' then type \whatuwant2callyourlink} and it should work!

Dunno where mxw is - has she got the day off?

slinksanta · 01/12/2005 13:27

wow didn't know your course started so soon ASH thats brill.
i had a look at those entry exams and they don't seem to exist anymore, so access course is the quickest root.

Atomicstockinghanger · 01/12/2005 13:36

Access is deffo the quickest and easiest route onto the Degree course. Can't believe I start next month! Means I won't be on here 3 days of the week! How will you cope without me??!!

carlychristmas · 01/12/2005 13:44

i think i need to go back through learn direct or something as i have a feeling ive been misinformed about this Maths has never been my strong point and if i dont need to do it then there is no point in carrying on with my course.

mygarland · 01/12/2005 13:48

i hope u get the advice u need carly but i love maths so if ever u need a hand just cat me! suppose there's the education board too, x

carlychristmas · 01/12/2005 13:55

thanks hun! its not that i cant do it beacuse if its drummed into me i finally go "oh yeah i get it" but it takes a while and sometimes i havent got the patience to do it

slinksanta · 01/12/2005 13:55

carly i would ring up the people at the college that does the access course you want and ask what their entry requirments are. remember to say your age as if you are a mature student you often need less qualifications than a straight from school youngun.
they might still require maths, but if they don't apply for the access

carlychristmas · 01/12/2005 13:57

just a quick question.. how old does everyone think i am? im only asking cos of the mention of mature student

firstnikki · 01/12/2005 13:59
