hi all, hello newbies! hope your stay here is short and sweet. How's it going lolfactor?

Fingers crossed for you jolls - cd 26 is very early days. I think I didn't get a bfp ever until my period was a week late (I conveniently forget that of course when I'm testing on 10dpo)

Good luck for that shagfest everyone! I don't have to start the SMEP yet, and am feeling pretty tired atm anyway. But we are going to shred tonight and after that maybe we'll both be in the mood? Confused

Another trip to the big scary clinic boss today [ker-ching!]. She doesn't think I have Asherman's, but offered to scan me [ker-ching!]. I refused as I can get this on bupa elsewhere. She has tested me for a thyroid problem and excess prolactin [£ ker-ching!]. I'd never heard of that before causing infertility, but it was interesting after my breastmilk issue recently. and she wants to put me on Clomid for next cycle too and also track that cycle [double ker-ching]. Blimey it was an expensive afternoon!

Jolls have you seen E recently? I would like to go back to see her next week I think.

gum good to see you back. Hope you are successful with your swi!

diege hope you get your work done soon. I never seem to be on top of my work (or my life really) - it's a constant struggle isn't it?
Lambskin my ds has aspergers too. I have a second ds who is 2 and am keeping an eye on him. It makes life very difficult for us all, and I really worry for ds1 as he finds school etc very stressful.

italian that sounds like a very positive appointment - I know that it is good to get answers finally (not that I have yet, but I live in hope!).

muchlove sorry about the bfn, but isn't 10dpo very early to get a bfp? the statistics on fertility friend are something like 14% of bfps on 10dpo (I think) - anyway very low. I really enjoyed my monitored cycle! I'm having another one next time too and wish I could have one done (at home maybe) every time.

anyway, must go (and shred!).

SameOldJollster · 14/02/2011 21:22

BB shit that was an expensive day :(. Am seeing E next week, booked it to coincide with pre-ov. Funny how seeing E seems so cheap now after those trips to the Bus Station neighbourhood Grin. It hit me last week that E resembles Tamsin Greig the actress (currently in Episodes - anyone watching this btw?).

Really interested in Aspergers. I think we're all on the spectrum somewhere, but I continue to look for signs in DS. My sister's middle child (now an adult) has severe autism and was diagnosed after his language delay was investigated. My DS is really starting to physically resemble my nephew, it's quite disconcerting.

diege sorry you're running behind. That must be stressful :(

Hi to all - no hearts, flowers or chocs here!! DP very unromantic in the gesture sense!! But he has his good points.

hopefulgum · 14/02/2011 23:25

Oh Deige, I don't envy you, but I'm sure it is worth it if it pays for a holiday.

Beattie, it's a pity it is so expensive. I'd love to have a monitored cycle (that's the control freak in me). I'd like to be armed with all the details, but then again I over-think everything, and need to relax more. Now I'm second guessing the idea of aspirin and progesterone. But I think with an LP of 12 days and good high temps after O, that progesterone isn't an issue. As for the aspirin, I'll talk to the Dr when I know what's happening with this cycle(whether preg or not).

I'm pleased to say the romantic dinner, wine etc worked as I had hoped on my DH. He also bought me a lovely silver bead for my troll bracelet.I think my DD may have influenced him there!

I think I Oed yesterday, day after +OPK, but didn't have a temp rise this a.m. It may be that I need a new battery in the thermometer. I'll see what tomorrow's temp says. Maybe I'll O today instead? If any one is interested, you can see my chart here FF says I'm 3dpo but I beg to differ, and think it will change.

My DH is off on camp with year 12's for three days, tomorrow. So I do hope I have Oed. I'll be very sad if it comes while he's away. And with all the work getting organised for the camp, I doubt DH will be up for it again tonight...

Geez, sorry for rambling on about myself!

Jolls, like you said, 10 dpo is very early, and you didn't get bfp that early before. And if you haven't had all the spotting etc, then it is sounding good to me. I really, really hope you get bfp this time. Sending loads of positive thoughts your way.

Muchlove, sorry to hear you've been ill, poor you. Also sorry about the bfn, but at 10 dpo, it is still early days isn't it? Wouldn't it be great if you and Jolls could be bump buddies?

Ah well, it feels so good to be back.It feels like home a bit. Listen to me...all sooky and mushy!

Italiangreyhound · 14/02/2011 23:52

Hi guys, happy Valentines to you all. Wine

louisesh · 15/02/2011 10:32

Hi Curly Yes last night more swi.Grin then more tonight!!! Boy have i ov'd....loads of ewcm.Think the grapefriut juice i ve been drinking helped.Hope you re keeping up .....XXX

Jolls 10 dpo is way too early!!! Its not over to the fat lady sings!!!!! Glad you re out and about.

Much again could be too early!!!! FX xxx

Arh...Gum allo sounds good.Glad you and dh are back on track.Smile

BB well done on the shredding.WinkHope you feel more positive after your appointmant, all be it worse off!!!!

Back at you , for yesterday, Italian

Yeh!!!!!!Diege come and join us [well, not literally!!!] on the "shagfest" !!!

Hi to everyone else.Hope all are well.I did "wifely "duties last night and cooked a proper meal even set the table and ran a bath for dh!!!! We agreed not to buy cards , i still don t like going in to card shops haven t since Georgie and avoid it as much as possible.

Then more swi,.....More tonight then tomorrow off.Anyone using the smiley faces have you ever tested after you ve got the smiley face? I tested again yesterday [just for fun] and smiley face still showing......Confused it said sometimes lh surge leading up to "O" can sometimes be detected 2-3 days running which hopefully will be covered by the ems plan.

BeattieBow · 15/02/2011 10:57

Hi all. Well done on the shagging! I'm very impressed with your stamina.

I haven't started yet - cd7 here and have just felt too tired. But will try to ease in gently soon while the monitor is still showing low. Don't want dh to feel used! lou I think the surge can come up to 36 hours after the smiley face. When I had my monitored cycle last time, I still had "peak" on my monitor even though the scan showed I had already ov'ed.

gum my temp rise always came a couple of days after I ov'ed, so it is possible that you ov'ed yesterday and temp will go up tomorrow. Anyway, still sounds as though you got alot of action.

I am waiting for my blood test results - thyroid and prolactin. it will be interesting I think. Also got an email from the Asherman's specialist who thinks it doesn't sound as though I have Asherman's - my womb lining is too thick apparently. Also Scary Expensive Clinic Boss Woman didn't think I had that either, so that sounds positive. But buggered if I know where my womb lining gets to! and why I haven't managed to get pg either. But being relaxed this month at the moment.

hippychick66 · 15/02/2011 11:40

Quick hi to all. My DS2 is off with a bug. He's been vomiting since Saturday and we've had to make the decision to throw away 3 pairs of PJ bottoms due to runny bottom problems (they were old PJ's anyway Grin)

Now I feel a bit sick and Dh says he has an upset tummy too. All very worrying as I'm on CD10 today and the second line on the OPK is getting more obvious - although no Smile yet.

I hope we don't end up having to have sex when we both feel blurggghh.. oh the romance!

lou I often carry on doing the OPK's after i've got the pos and have had a smiley face for 2 days in a row many times. I think it's just catching the surge on the way in and on the way out.

BB Glad to hear that they don't think you have ashermans - hope all the tests go well. Both italian and I have under-active thyroids so you could join our exclusive gang Smile

gum I asked my GP about asprin and she said it was not good to take it if you DON'T have the sticky blood thing. I think the tendency is to think it's worth giving it a go but please do talk to a doctor first. I can see why lou is planning on doing it and she has had approval from a doctor. I know after an MC the tendency is to try to find somehting to prevent it from happening again but I seriously think that my 2 MC's and your MC were almost definitely just down to old eggs. I know how scary it is to think about being preggers again, hang in there, lovey.

Big hello to all, especially the newbies. All ok lol ???

diege sorry to hear you're struggling to keep up - miss you on here.

TinaO99 · 15/02/2011 12:33

hello ladies, I've been reading your thread and hoped I might be welcome to join you all sound such fun I'm hoping you can cheer me up!

I'm 42 and currently in the 3rd month (ish) of trying for my second child (my first 'child' is now 19! This will be with my 2nd hubby who's 41 and doesn't have one of his own

I'm using the clear blue monitor plus backing it up with the smiley face sticks too which thankfully show I seem to ovulate regularly but no luck yet

beattie I noticed from your post that the detected surge can happen after you've already ovulated, we've been concentrating on trying on peak days (as well as other random times too of course lol) do you think that may already be too late and we've missed the boat?

anyway hope you don't mind me joining in :-)

Tina

BeattieBow · 15/02/2011 13:29

ooh just saw on Yahoo that you need to conceive this week to have a baby born on 11/11/11. Come on team you can do it!!

Hi tina and welcome. I use the cbfm too, and would ordinarily try to swi on a high day as well as a peak. I noticed last month (when I had a monitored cycle) that I ovulated on the first peak day, which would suggest that it is useful to swi before you get peak. I tend to try to use ewcm as a guide more than anything else. My issue is that I stop swi on peak, and others on here have advised that you should dtd one more time.

Google Sperm Meets Egg Plan - I think we are all doing that this month, and then all bases will be covered (you'll be knackered and fed up of swi or swoi though!).

lolfactor · 15/02/2011 19:16

Hi all - can't believe how much has happened since I was last on. Fingers crossed Jolls - and to everyone else this month. I'm addicted to Episodes, too. E? What's an E? And is she helping?

11.11.11.sounds more like the title of film than a birthday, Beattiebow, but given everyone's histories there's enough to make a 3-hour epic.

Thanks for all your kind wishes (Hi Hippy et al) - and welcome to Tina. Please please don't give up hope everyone. If I can get preggers at 44 (45 in March) then you can. It was my due date today and, hallelujah, it's still a sticky bean. Rang the doc and asked if I needed a progesterone supplement to make sure it stays inside and she said not to worry - my progesterone levels were taken a few months ago and showed they were fine. I hope she's right. She sounded really excited, which made me feel quite optimistic. I'm obsessing - looking up miscarriage rates/abnormalities etc. I've got a 1 in 4 chance of losing it, according the sites, but the Dr thinks that I might have better chances, having had 3 kids. Hopefully my body will just know what to do. And if it does go wrong - well, it wasn't meant to be. Trying to be philosophical. Only just made it through marking and bldy yr 11 parents evening. Know how you feel Deige

Off to pretend to cook - where's the tin opener?

Diege · 15/02/2011 19:37

Hello! Rang the boss man and pleaded for a marking extension so have now (begrudgungly) been given to Monday...will still be a push.
Anyway, wanted to pop in and say hello. I think I will sadly be out this month as I've just had a pos opk and dh is at his mums with the dds tonight Angry. Did the deed last night, but not holding out much hope.
Welcome Tina, oh and you GP sounds great lolfactor. You must keep us up to date (and are you a lecturer/teacher too?).
Oh and Hippy poor you and the pooey bottoms - really hope you can stay germ free. Ds is poorly here too, but of the high temp variety so no pukey sheets as yet!

lolfactor · 15/02/2011 19:45

Hey Diege isn't that the perfect time? Won't the swimmers have had a chance to reach the deep end? Or am I a total novice at OPK?

Yep, I'm a teacher - English (although with all the typos at the moment, it would be hard to guess). Being worked into an early grave at a private school. Great food/holidays = shorter life expectancy! You?

Diege · 15/02/2011 20:21

Yes, you're right Lol, theoretically the swimmers are there, but from past form I see to have best luck when dtd on the day of the opk. Anyway, will just have to suck it up so to speak and be philosophical about yet another month wasted Hmm.
I'm a sociology/social policy lecturer at uni' - overworked and def underpaid. The marking I'm doing at present is for AQA (A level sociology) for extra dosh and it's driving me mad!

lolfactor · 15/02/2011 20:33

I swore I'd never do that marking, but I can see myself having to next year. Just been reading some very scary threads from mumsnet past - so many mcs over 40. hippy I even found your old pregnancy thread - so so sorry.

I thought my chances were 1 in 4. The last thread I read said 50/50. Anyone know? I'm gutted. I know I shouldn't be reading this stuff.

Any there was lots of talk about nuchal cans. Are they standard on the NHS?

Sorry to be so self-pitying. I switch from being excited to feeling sick with worry.

Diege · 15/02/2011 20:42

Stop reading negative stuff lol!!!! There is as much, if not more of a chance that you will have a healthy and uneventful pregancy. I know where you are coming from, but please don't sweat it now, it's really not worth it.
Try to relax and enjoy xx
Oh and nuchal fold, supposed to be rolled out across NHS in 2005 but very much depends where you live.More offer in South than in North where I am. Oh and AQA gets to us all eventually Wink

Italiangreyhound · 15/02/2011 20:45

TinaO99 welcome.

Hello ladies.

Hope all is well.

Brew Brew

SameOldJollster · 15/02/2011 20:53

lol statistics are the work of the devil. Even if they're massively in your favour? So try to stay away from any statistical headfcuk. In terms of nuchal testing, it varies massively from NHS area to area. If I get pg again I will go to the FMC in London, it's about £150 and they are renowned for being the experts; you also get all the results on the same day, whereas locally here now you have the scan and then have to wait for bloods through the post!. No, that's wrong.

I know it's very easy to say but worrying will not help you. Try to relax and enjoy being pregnant. Chant Cherie Blair... x

Welcome tina - hope your stay is short and sweet.

Love to all. CD 27 for me, and spot free now for 3 days. Testing on Friday if still in. HmmConfusedBrew

SameOldJollster · 15/02/2011 20:54

ooops interrupted post so XP with Italian and Diege - hug for you both.

nicole333 · 15/02/2011 20:54

Hi lolfactor I can only imagine how your feeling, but please try and relax! I felt like that around xmas time when I was dithering. I kept looking at all the statistics and it was driving me insane. I couldn't make the decision to go for it and felt like I was mourning the children I would never have because I was scaring myself silly.

I don't know anything about procedures yet, but I should imagine all checks around our age should be offered on the NHS as standard procedure. It's amazing that you have a little life happening inside you right now, truly amazing!!

I'm sure I'll be having all the same thoughts as you when it happens for me. I'm trying to coach myself into thinking how I will cope if I lose out to MC. God, it's bloody scarey!

Hang in there! Stop researching the bad stuff and stick with the sensible stuff about looking after yourself. Maybe try some relaxation? I could be talking out of my arse as I havn't been there. I'm sure someone will offer more constructive advice soon.

I'm wrecked, crap sleep last night and mentally and emotionally drained. Hey ho, tomorrows a new day Smile

nicole333 · 15/02/2011 20:56

Muchos cross postings!

lolfactor · 15/02/2011 21:04

You're both right, you're both right (cherie blair...breathe...cherie blair) I'm going to stop right now and never look at them again.

BTW, jolls what is the FMC? Sounds like a good idea. And when is the best time?

Thanks guys - feeling calmer x ;)

lolfactor · 15/02/2011 21:24

Thanks so much nicole333. Going to have some hot milk (whisky being out of the q) and think positive thoughts. Night all x Smile

lolfactor · 15/02/2011 21:33

You star. Thanks Jolls night x

louisesh · 16/02/2011 09:46

Bloody hell!!!! You lot certainly know how to chat!!!!!

It s a shame that not everyone is entitled to the Nuchal scan.We have it here in our trust.I didn t have it with Georgie as knew with my age it would be an increased risk and i wouldn t be terminating anyway.I wont be having it next time either.

Hi BB no way do i want a 11/11/11 baby .Georgie was born on 10/10/10 i m not taking any risks again.Good luck with ems plan.Wink

Lolfactor STEP away from the internet.Yes, there are risks but aren t there with everything worthwhile? You have to be in to win it!!!!X

Diege don t worry you ve still got a chance.I bet you re knackered with all your extra marking.X
