Good idea LOL don t know how i m going to examine pts with oven gloves on though???? Confused

hippychick66 · 16/03/2011 12:53

lou scan tomorrow - whoop whoop. I will be on tender hooks waiting to read all about it. Can't you stick a pessary up your bits? They are safe in pregnancy - so I was told. I know what you mean about ripping your bits off. I had thrush last feb and i seriously thought I'd rather someone shot me - quite glad now that they didn't though Grin

Nothing to report here. Day 14. Still no positive on the OPK yesterday but there was a faint line. Unfortunately I started POAS early cos I usually ovulate early so I have used the whole packet (what a feckin' waste of money). Not sure whether to buy more and keep testing or not. My boobs have started feeling odd so something is defo happening - but what Confused. I just do rather like to see that smiley face (as do you lou remember?) Anyway, we've done all the right shagging just incase I missed the surge - so the OPK would be purely for my own peace of mind only.

Car decided to die this morning. Made an unholy noise as I tried to drive away. So stopped immediately and walked the boys to school instead. It turns out that one of the springs in the suspension is broken. DH says I take the speed bumps too fast. But there are so bloody many of them around here and I can't be doing with slowing down for them. When the AA man told us what it was Dh asked if he fixed spines as well cos he recons I've knackered his one of those too. Ha Ha DH - why don't you drive more often then instead of letting me drive us everywhere AngryGrin.

louisesh · 16/03/2011 13:29

Hippy i do indeed remember that lovely smiley face.Hope yours appears soon Smile i ve used 1v pessary yes we do perscribe them in pregnancy as long as you don t use the applicator. Will use another one in a couple of days if no better.

Sorry about your car they re more trouble than they are worth!!!!! Ants still in dispute about a car accident we had in August when some old biddy deciced to drive through Morrisons car park about 3 million miles per hour when we were reverseing in a parking space.Bloody Tescos's haven t fought our corner at all and now want him to accept 100% liability.

Right off for a Brew

TinaO99 · 16/03/2011 14:38

hippy and louise stupid question - would you miss your surge on the monitor but get a high if you were already pregnant??

hopefulgum · 16/03/2011 23:27

Tina, I don't know if you'd get a high if you were pregnant.I suppose it is possible because the monitor checks for estrogen levels and the LH surge, both of which can be high if you are pregnant. Just as an opk can pick up a pregnancy.

Lou, any news about the scan?

Hippy, do you have other signs of O? If you missed the surge (which I think is possible, I find that my surge is quite often in the morning, so if I don't test in the morning, later that day I'll get a negative.)do you have O pain? That always confirms it for me, and the temp rise. You are not temping are you? Maybe if you started now you might get a clue about whether you Oed? I know how frustrating it can be, especially doing so many opk tests! These companies must be making a fortune.I often think I should be selling them along with Preg tests, there is certainly a market for them.

But then again I can barely find the time for housework!

I've been sugar free for 11 days, and honestly have not missed it at all. I feel so much better overall.Less tired, no more afternoon slump or cravings, and as a bonus, I've lost 3 pounds (1 1/2 kilos). I don't suffer from bloating anymore, which is great, that in itself makes me feel slimmer. I'll be keeping this up.

Isaboo, so sorry about AF turning up.

I wish we could all just get our bfp's and take home babies.

I'm having very few symptoms. I don't have even slightly sore boobs, so it seems unlikely that an egg has been fertilized. It remains to be seen...

Have a good day everyone.Smile

hippychick66 · 17/03/2011 09:51

tina not sure about a monitor - do they work the same as ordinary OPK's?? Can you miss a surge with them?? Maybe you did. If you suspect you might be preggers - why not do a cheapo test?

I think what happened with me was that, as gum says, I just missed the surge. I was on day 14 yesterday and had some very familiar pains (I kept thinking - "what is that pain it's very familiar?" And then remembering it was ovulation Hmm)

I managed not to buy any more OPK sticks. I spoke very sternley to myself and said that I was still SWI at all the right times so it was not worth the money just to see a feckin' smiley face on an OPK.

I think if I am gonna ween myself off this whole TTC thing then the first thing to let go off is the OPK's. I should just be SWI at the right times.

lou now get your story straight was it tesco or morrison - you'd be rubbish in court Grin OK I guess you have other things on your mind right now. I will be with you holding your hand for the scan today. Just as they tell you all is well you'll feel me squeeze your hand Wink.

TinaO99 · 17/03/2011 10:19

hippy the clear blue monitor uses test sticks and I'm on day 18 now with highs since day 8 or 9!! I've been using this since December and have had peaks (ovulation) since I started using it around day 10 and 11 on the dot so I'm gutted I haven't had one this month although i know it's mot unusual

I just got all excited yesterday as someone said that the monitor could mistake HCG for a surge in estrogen (the highs I've been having) and that they had lots of them and were actually preggers

I tested yesterday and got nothing though :-( so getting excited for no reason, just hope I'm back to normal next time

I have really got to stop all this reading it's giving me ideas and also panicking me too much, I'm on the verge of agreeing with you and just stopping all this as I think it's doing more harm than good and just SWI-ing around the times I know I ovulate based on the readings I've been getting as it's stressing me out sooo much

anyway - am off ice skating tonight so something to look forward to Grin

hippychick66 · 17/03/2011 10:43

What does a high mean then? Does it mean you are approaching Ov? Maybe your body is gearing up to ovulate but then stopping and re-starting. Yes, it does seem odd that you always ovulate at the same time except this month. I know it will not help at all to say that apparently we all have months when we don't ovulate - it wouldn't help me to hear that either Grin. We don't want to waste a single month at our age!

Enjoy the ice skating, don't stick your fingers out if you fall over (horrible image of someone skating over them and chopping them off Shock) Thanks for that Hippy!!!!!!

TinaO99 · 17/03/2011 11:09

it means your estrogen levels are raised pending an LH surge (it's what sparks it off apparently) just seems silly that your body gears up by raising the levels then doesn't bother to do anythign about it -stupid body!!

I try not to fall down at skating if I can help it lol - i have seen people getting bad cuts on their hands though, I've had some lessons and have been taught how to fall safely but I still don't like doing it!

louisesh · 17/03/2011 14:14

Yes I agree with Italian and hippy re man in One born Every Minute in a word knob but in the nicest possible way as after all when he menationed the three things he learnt from his Dad that he would be with his own child did think that was sweet of him. 8dpo for me, did cd21 progesterone blood test today and for my troubles think the sneaky police hiding in their white van surreptitiously parked got me on camera for speeding, great eh! Mitzimaybe · 17/03/2011 21:51

Hi everyone, I'm new here and not quite sure how this works yet. You all seem to know each other already - can I join in or is that rude?

By way of introduction, I'm in my forties, have just had a miscarriage and am wondering about trying to conceive TTC again. (Haven't got the hang of all your abbreviations yet, sorry.)

lia66 · 17/03/2011 22:10

lia66 · 17/03/2011 22:12

sorry, am due in 4 days. fed up now, come on baby. :)

hopefulgum · 17/03/2011 22:54

Lou - so happy to hear the scan went went!

Lia - 4 days.Wow! How exciting.

Welcome Mitzi - so sorry about your miscarriage. Do you have other children? We are a lovely bunch of women and I think you'll find a very supportive place to ttc.

Deige - how's everything going? Are you having an early scan?

Nothing new to report here. I wish my boobs would hurt. But there's nothing - nix, zero, neint...Already thinking about having to do SWI again next month. Am starting to feel a bit tired of it. Hopefully I'll have more energy for it once AF arrives and leaves.

Where's everyone else at?

I know mumsnet isn't into those tracking thingies that go in your signature but it helps keep track of where everyone is at.
