TTC while breastfeeding - Part 2

silkenladder · 16/12/2010 19:22

This is the place to come to share the frustrations of ttc while still nursing.

Many of us are sleep-deprived, some of us don't even know if we're ovulating and none of us know whether taking agnus castus is a good idea or not. We all just want to do the best by the children we already have, but would really like to be pregnant again. Quickly.

Part 1 had plenty of graduates . Here's hoping Part 2 will be equally successful and supportive!

oh, duke, i put my dates in to get due date, scan dates etc, very exciting. where are the test things though? I did my final (positive) test this morning, think i'm 6 weeks pg on Friday.

Good luck all those in the 2ww!!!

jaggythistle · 22/08/2011 12:45

bet you'd enjoy peeonastick.com too! lots of experiments to determine the best test. Grin

duke748 · 22/08/2011 12:59

Hi Dream and Jaggy!

Yep, I have read PeeOnAStick lots too!

Dream - its www.countdowntopregnancy.com/pregnancy-test-gallery/

Have fun!

duke748 · 22/08/2011 13:26

ps- is it bad that when browsing the pee sticks I want to shout 'but how SURE are you that you're X days past ovulation?' So I can figure out when I can use that brand and expect a BFP myself!

Mackrelmint · 22/08/2011 19:52

I think I just got a bfp too!...

23days post ov and no sign of AF I thought I might just as well test again despite total lack of symptoms. And a strong blue line developed in seconds.

can't quite believe it. Only dtd twice last month and I was sure it wouldn't happen 1st cycle.
Good luck to those on 2ww! Seems like there might be something in the air this month...

jaggythistle · 22/08/2011 20:10

Eek mackrel. that's great! Grin

mollycuddles · 22/08/2011 20:43

Just read the whole thread and fab to see lovely BFPs recently. I'd like to join too.
Dd2 is nearly 15 months and feeds night and morning only though for often an hour at a time. I work full time long hours but if I'm at home more there are often a few sneaky extra feeds in the afternoon. My other two are 13 and 10 and adore their wee sister. I'm 39. I can't say we are exactly ttc because SWI is rare at best. DH not too impressed with that. My libido is still missing in action. I don't really want to get pg until the new year as money is a bit tight. I was on depo until March - used it pre DS (dc1) and got pg pretty quickly. Used it this time because pragmatically wanted something I didn't need to take every day but would be 100%. Had a lot of weight to lose post dd2 and preferred to risk slow return to fertility potentially after depo than another pg at 40 weighing nearly 20 stone!
Have lost 8 stone now so getting pg won't risk my health if it ever happens! It's our 15th year anniversary today so should make the effort to DTD. It doesn't get any easier managing to grab an opportunity when there are bigger dcs around who find the idea of mum and dad having sex quite disgusting!

Loooopy · 22/08/2011 20:43

congratulations mackrelmint!!! hoping these BFP's are contagious and spread to the rest of us on here!

Grumpygils · 22/08/2011 22:23

Congratulations Mackeral Grin and welcome Molly.

BartletForAmerica · 22/08/2011 22:26

Wonderful news, Mackrel!

Goodness, between here and the No Brooking thread, it is getting all very exciting!

Molly, you've lost 8 stone!?! That is an amazing achievement! Wow. Well done. Re: MIA libido, BF really killed mine, but I did find it got a bit better if I just got on with things regularly and made an effort every few nights. Practice makes perfect?

duke748 · 22/08/2011 23:11

Fab news Mackrel! Really, really pleased for you. Any tips for us still waiting?

Molly - welcome, and a massive congrats on weight loss! Amazing!

dreamfeeder · 23/08/2011 20:55

oh mackrel, how fantastic!!! What a great month we're having on this thread!!! Congratulations, well done you and dh. I'm so happy for you.

Join me in pointless anxiety over it all now.... Grin

Hi molly, go you with the weight loss! Good luck when you start ttc

Mackrelmint · 24/08/2011 15:52

thanks everyone - so nice to have somewhere to share the news, whilst I have to wait a few weeks in real life (although my belly already feels very bloated so I guess it won't be long before it starts showing; not like last time!)

welcome to molly and also grumpy who I missed earlier sorry.

'pointless anxiety!' exactly dream. I am still pretty excited, but every now and then I'll have a vision of a newborn and a toddler and me there just falling apart and have a complete panic! (not to mention my brain alredy goign into overdrive thinking about cots and beds and double buggies and how we afford it after only 8 months back at work and so on. really need to slow down; so early days still!...)

duke when are you testing? can't be long now?

dreamfeeder · 24/08/2011 17:56

lol mackrel, while my fears centre around mc at this point (all I can think about...), the baby, toddler and me in a mess has also crossed my mind! I think I know which double buggy I'd go for though Grin, the double of my new and much loved Baby Jogger City Mini (took me 9 months to build up to the purchase of a normal buggy, god knows when or if i'll actually get a double, i'm a baby-sling fan). Although in fact, I may have accosted a pusher of just such a buggy in the village today and asked her what she thought- she loves it, its her second attempt at the perfect double, hooray!

Any news duke?

and I love the MIA libido, I'm glad it's not just me. I agree, the only way is to make an a lot of effort!

duke748 · 24/08/2011 18:49

Hi ladies. Thanks for thinking of me!

I am 8 DPO now and just had some spotting on wiping. My usual LP is 11 days and I took B vits this month, so I'm hoping for a longer LP rather than shorter. I am praying its implantation bleeding, I guess I'll know if its AF by tomorrow morning. I didn't have implantation bleeding last time, so just don't know what it looks like. I've also felt knackered and a bit sick, but thats not unusual as I don't sleep or eat particularly well!

I know the only way to tell will be to wait and see (apparantly I can expect a BFP in 2-3 days if it is implantation), but any opinions appreciated!

mollycuddles · 24/08/2011 20:19

Fingers crossed for you duke. I had implantation bleeding with dd1 but not with the others or when I had a mc. No idea why. It was about 2 days before af was due and was light staining at wiping for about half a day. I wasn't so up on things then so assumed it was a slightly early af but when it ground to a halt after a few more days I realised what had happened.

Loooopy · 24/08/2011 20:33

re double buggies, we've got the Baby Jogger City Select - we figured we want 4 DC's close in age so made sense to buy one that could be used as a single or a double from the off. Especially as DP's mom offered to buy it for us (inc 2 seats, the carrycot kit, adaptors etc etc :)

We are very pleased with it, wouldn't swop it for anything and can't wait to have a DC2 and be able to use it as a double :)

Fingers crossed for you duke!

duke748 · 25/08/2011 12:33

Hi all! Hows it going?

I'm 9 dpo now and the spotting seems to have cleared up. Feeling sick and knackered still, so fingers (and legs!) really crossed!

I am off on first baby-free weekend with OH tomorrow. I have packed preg tests, tampons, sexy pants and big pants - all bases covered!!!

inukshukdreamer · 26/08/2011 15:21

Just popping in to say hi after several months away.

I breastfeed my very nearly 18 month old daughter and we've been trying ttc #2 for the last year (with periods and ovulation).

Still dealing with a very short luteal phase - currently 7 days - and supplements have made no difference. Hanging in there!

Good to read some success stories here. Anyone else been trying for 1yr+? Finding it hard to keep up that PMA sometimes, though trying hard...

silkenladder · 26/08/2011 21:10

Wow! Congratulations to jaggy, dreamfeeder and makrelmint Grin

Good luck, duke. Sounds very promising for you this month, too. Hope you enjoy your weekend.

I've nearly finished my first packet of the pill. I think it has stopped the hair loss, although it's harder to tell as I've been on holiday for two weeks and the plughole here is different! Otherwise it seems to have given me sensitive breasts (an association which I never realised in 10 years of taking it pre-DD). I really hope this is going to work, but at the moment I can't imagine I will ever manage to get pg again Sad. Maybe that's just another side-effect.

Anyway, didn't mean to come on here to dampen the mood Blush. Good luck to anyone left and have fun trying!

I'm out for this month, so having a few bevies this weekend whilst away. And we'll do more SWI next month! Grin

jaggythistle · 27/08/2011 14:15

aw poo duke.

have some bevvies for me. :)

I'm supposed to be drinking next week and am still a bit nervous about how I'll fake it! worried everyone there (all workmates) will spot my extreme soberness. Grin maybe they'll all get drunk quick and not care!

Mackrelmint · 31/08/2011 14:08

duke - hope you enjoyed your child-free weekend despite bfn. child-free weekend, huh? not sure I can even imagine what that would be like...

silken - I really hope the pill does the trick for you too.

inukshuk - welcome back and sorry to hear you are finding it hard staying positive; I think I would too; after 6 months last time round I felt completely emotionally battered by the whole thing. hope you get a bfp soon!

Good luck to everyone, and will keep checking in now and then to see how things are going xx

Mackrelmint · 31/08/2011 14:10

oh and jaggy - can you claim you're on antibiotics, or getting over a dodgy tummy? I don't really drink nowadays so not goign to raise any suspicions that way, but am looking very pot-bellied and wondering how long I can pass that off as normal mummy-tummy...

jaggythistle · 31/08/2011 20:08

i don't think i could concoct a good enough on antibiotics story to fool them! dodgy tummy story could work..

I'm just feeling a bit bloaty and fat really! not filling me with confidence for wearing a dress.
