Remember ladies - Our time will come, but our bodies have to be ready, and we are all here to support each other.

For those new people please feel free to check out our Stats thread, to see some info about us and leave you details if you want to.

Have a good night Mums!

Coathanger · 05/10/2005 17:04

But I didn't realise how many herbal remedies there are for depression

HellKat · 05/10/2005 17:06

Actually those are easy to come off. I had no side effects what so ever. What dosage are on?

Coathanger · 05/10/2005 17:07

Oh, only very low - 10mg

HellKat · 05/10/2005 17:12

I was on 20 and 40 mg. You'll have no problems coming off them. I did'nt actually feel like I was on them either. You know, did'nt feel spaced out. Personally, I think they're the best prescribed ones there are.
Yep loads and loads of herbal, homeopathic remedies. There's a few you can take when you're ttc, pregant etc too.

slinkstah · 05/10/2005 17:12

hi coathanger, i was on those years ago. they gave me a bad taste in my mouth. just wanted to warn you just incase you find the same thing, also i found i felt really weird when i drank alcohol.

but i did find them easy to come off in fact i just stopped taking them one day, you shouldn't do that though.

HellKat · 05/10/2005 17:16

Lol Slink! You're not meant to drink on them! I did and felt most odd.
Taste wise they were fine with me but the sleeping pills they gave me left a weird iron taste, also made water taste foul. I came off them in one day too

Diddle · 05/10/2005 17:20

how do you know you're depressed, my mom had depression and just didn;t leave the house at all, but CH you're walking around and carrying on with life.

OP posts:
Diddle · 05/10/2005 17:23

are there many types of depression i often wondered if i had it earlier in the year, always sad, crying, feeling like i couldn't be bothered to do anything.
how would i knwo if i had it

HellKat · 05/10/2005 17:27

Loads of different stages Diddle. Your poor mum!
Some dr's are great at spotting it early but if left you end up in a vicious circle where you get worse. Everyday symptoms are a feeling of helplessness, that you're not coping, trouble sleeping, either a can't be bothered attitude to yourself and surroundings or the opposite, doing far too much and making sure everthing is just so.
I got diagnosed when it had seriously taken a hold and very nearly got admitted to the psychiatric ward. Absolutely great now.

Coathanger · 05/10/2005 17:28

Didn't realise I was depressed until I saw my HV yesterday - I mean I knew i was down but not depressed. I apparently show all the signs - blaming myself for everything, feeling isolated, lonely, restless, i can't stay in some days and invent reasons to get out. The housework has taken a back seat (but that might be MN!!) , I'm still not sleeping properly, or eating well. And I filled in a PND questionaire and scored badly

Depression makes people react in many ways. We are all different

HellKat · 05/10/2005 17:29

That does sound like it Diddle. It's so hard to spot because the early signs are what everyone has felt sometime or another. The dr has to decide if it'll get worse or ease. Glad I would'nt have that job.

HellKat · 05/10/2005 17:31

Getting out in the great outdoors is a great help for me. Just being out in the sun, pretty surroundings does wonders. Uh oh, off on my hippy phase again

Diddle · 05/10/2005 17:31

Hellkat - Very glad you pulled through we wouldn't be the same without you as our friend. Yeh mom was bad, her and dad were going through a very bad time (now Divorced) took a lot of encouragement to get her round and lots of tablets, but shes very well now.
I often feel like not bothering with anything, but never have a bad nights sleep, love my bed too much

slinkstah · 05/10/2005 17:31

slinkstah · 05/10/2005 17:35

Evening ladies-hope you have all had a good day.

Coathanger-I understand depression having been there twice. I didn't know I had it until work demanded I see my Dr. and he immediately prescribed antidepressants. It won't be long before you are weaning yourself off them and be sleeping like a baby and feel on top of the world again. (((((xxxxx)))))

Night night all

HellKat · 06/10/2005 05:32
