Hiya,

I put August as its a little late for July!

I'm TTC number 4(!)

Due to test on the 15th August but don't think we have much chance this month as its only our first and DH has been ill for a few days and now I've got the bug, so not much romance happening!

So just wonderded if anyone is just starting TTC and wanted to join me?

This is the 1st month TTC#1, but I've been off the pill for 6 months! (just biding my time...:)) Very excited!

I think that my 'relaxed' approached is also getting out of hand as I now have iperiod on my phone! Have only mentioned TTC to my mum, so it will be really nice to talk with people going through the same thing!

Just to resurrect an earlier conversation, about test prices; am I the only one who buys 40 for £5.50 on Amazon?

BTW if you didnt know about that and are now considering buying them, please note that at this price there will be no limits to your crazy early testing and you will end up as obsessed as I am!

Wow, MA, that is a great price - forty tests? I thought I was doing okay with Boots own brand tests price!

I agree with the waiting, have been driving my DH up the wall talking about babies and families, have been given a stern talk about not getting too dissappointed, but I have a cunning plan, well, a little bit cunning anyway! If we dont have any baby luck by this time next year will get another dog for me to lavish love and affection on, granted not as good as a baby, but gives us something to look forward to :o

Boo hiss, my period came on today.

I can't believe how awfully sick I've felt for the last 2 weeks! It must have been my hormones going on overdrive after being set free at last. If it's a hint of what it's like to have "morning" sickness, I am worried.

I like the idea of 40 tests for a fiver, but how is it possible? Are they being done by little kids in China?

re: preg test prices

I should clarify that I bought from Amazon.com (American site) as I live in Costa Rica. Just had a look for you all on Amazon.co.uk (lots of time on my hands !)

and you can get:
15 for £2.80
25 for £4.48
50 for £7.79 (can you imagine? you will be doing one an hour for that price!)

right now I am buying ovulation predictor kits which come in packs of 40 with 10 preg tests included.

Hope I am not responsible for turning you all into test crazed animals like me!

I love this thread, it has made me feel SO much better about secretly obsessing!!

MummyAbroad - thanks for the research! So far I have only tested once (no doubt this will change ) and used pricey clearblue digital test.....think bulkbuying will make me feel less guilty about using tests early, even if it does drive me slightly mad in the meantime!

To all of you who were BFN or got AF, good luck with the next cycle girls, let's keep everything crossed that it goes well for us all!!

I think I am getting pre AF cramps and feeling decidely grumpy today although think that might just be because I got another negative. Decided to focus on having a healthy few weeks in prep for my holiday in Spain and not worrying about dates and things...Holding out a tiny tiny tiny glimmer of hope that I might have my cycle dates wrong and therefore just testing too early! Having a cheeky glass of wine tonight anyway and if it is BFN off camping this weekend so weekend full of BBQ and guilt-free beer! hello - can I join please. Sorry Badger that it didn't work out this month. Hope when you do get a BFP that you've had all your nausea now and don't get any for the whole 40 weeks.

We just started trying this month for DC2. DS is 23 mo. Have PCOS so it took about 14mo to fall preg the first time. Really trying not to obsess but feeling elderly (35...). Still, my cycle is much more stable now so think I might be ovulating now-ish. But I'm probably just obsessing about those symptoms instead of the pregnancy ones...

BTW thanks for the tip offs about the preg tests. genius. but worried at how much I'll end up weeing on myself. can't be a good thing!

if you start testing anything like the amount I do, you get pretty expert at the wee in the cup thing. Reckon I could get it in from 40 paces now!

i use a princess disposable party cup to catch mine

love it Might consider jazzing up my selection of wee catcher cups now.

Thanks for the info! I now have a bundle of internet cheapies being sent to me! I'm not even on the 2ww yet but I figured i'd stock up since I know I will be a test-addict :)

As for a wee cup... i thought you could just hold the test in the stream?? That was my plan... Guess I have a lot to learn!:o

1. Whats does 2ww mean?

1. The internet cheapies have to be dunked in wee for 3 seconds - they are just thin strips of card as opposed to the fat spongey sticks that you buy in the shops.

Dont forget to use them first thing in the morning or after 4 hours of not weeing (HCG is more concentrated and you are more likely to get a good result.)

for you madkatz, its a horrible feeling isnt it. i did an ovulation test last ngiht as the ovulation calendar says i will be ovulating over this weekend, but the test was negative. so so so frustrated

I'm going out to buy some sparkly pee-catcher cups with immediate effect. If it's going to take as long as last time I might as well wee in style. At least the PCOS means I'm not tempted to do the ovulation test things. Guess it's all about the knicker snot. Gross.

Not sure what 2WW means - is it two week wait? I think I ovulated this week but am on a 5-6 week cycle so a while to wait before I can test reliably.

BTW why is it i can quite happily tell total strangers on an internet forum this but not even my mum knows we're trying again?

I find it so much easier talking on here than I do to my own mum, but then we've never had a very good relationship.

So 34 day cycle then a 25 day. Anyone else have up and down cycles and how do you cope with maybe not really knowing when you ovulate, or do you just rely on CM alone?

CM is cervical mucus thing I guess? Sorry not good at the acronyms thing. Somewhat more appealing than pant snot. I've heard about saliva ferning too but drying out spit and looking at it down a microscope seems even more obsessive than I'm (yet) willing to countenance. (Seriously, whose DP is going to get amorous if you pop into the sitting room saying 'my knickers are snotty my saliva is ferny'??? DH would hide behind the sofa.)

My cycle is always all over the place, but is better now. It used to be anywhere between 34 and 56 days. My GP last time said that as I was diagnosed with PCOS the best idea was just to get to it as there was no telling when I'd ovulate... So lots and lots of getting jiggy. Was easier when we didn't have a toddler . But at least i feel that's taken the pressure off - we know that I am ovulating even if a bit randomly.

lizanlulu I have only just started with Ov sticks, but plan to use them in combo with temp charting. If I was at the same place in the calendar as you I would be SWIing like mad and repeat testing with Ov sticks as the LH surge is apparently quite hard to catch.

I am on purpose not going to get to many tests as I really dont want to keep POAS as I am trying to protect myself from the total feeling of being gutted I get when its a negitive even though I knew I was going to get it!

I am not sure if there will even be a wait this month as had EWCM for the first time on Tuesday so does that mean then I ovulated or did the next day? Didnt get to see my DH till Thursday so does that mean we missed our chance?

Hi I'm new to mumsnet too. I've just come off the pill, my husband works away and when he's home I work shifts too so I feel the same way you do...not easy trying to find the right time, especially when they're not here!

I'm a bit scared of forums as ones I've looked at for other things before seem to be a bit opinionated when all I want is advice and support really. Mumsnet seems different so good luck to everyone on here!

cowboylover I'm the same, refusing to buy any tests! if they aren't in the house, I can't be tempted .

Anyway, I'm in the "pre-period" stage today, so clearly not pregnant. This isn't a huge surprise as we didn't have our first unprotected attempt until the day after OV. I've since found a website that categorically says "YOU WILL NOT GET PREGNANT IF YOU HAVE SEX AFTER OVULATION". No come on, say what you really think .

Anyway now that we've made the decision, I can plan better for next month :)

hiya catmad, i know what you mean about some of the other places, all you want is abit of advice and you get flamed down it is very friendly over here if you dont mind the gross bits

i still dont get all this cycle stuff. i mean i know roughly how to tell WHEN i am ovulating but dont really know how long between ovulating and af or anything like that. i thought women were fertile for around 4 days, but my mate said its only 2 days. i have been thinking all day about people who get pregnant by accident and how unlikely it is yet really common
