Hiya,

I put August as its a little late for July!

I'm TTC number 4(!)

Due to test on the 15th August but don't think we have much chance this month as its only our first and DH has been ill for a few days and now I've got the bug, so not much romance happening!

So just wonderded if anyone is just starting TTC and wanted to join me?

Afternoon all!

How are you all getting on?

I guess the best way to resist testing too early might be the cost of the tests?!?

Everyone at work is asking if I'm pregnant already!?! I guess it might take a while so not stressing out too much at the moment, but enjoying the trying as is DH :o

bobbetybob · 17/08/2010 18:00

I'd like to join the August thread ( this is my first ever post!!) If we were to be technical this is probably my second month of ttc as my coil came out in june and we weren't too careful in July but offically this is the first month.

I found you all trying to resist the urge to test. I have lot's of gynae troubles and have been warned I may never conceive but I refuse to believe it just yet. I have to try for a while. According to the calender I should have ovulated around the 1st August and period was due on 15th August. I have been nauseated for the last week or so and the only thing that seems to help is ready salted crisps!! I tested on Sunday and got a negative but still no period. Just nauseous with sore breasts and incredibly hungry. Thinking I may test again on Thursday!

It's nice to meet you all and finally have someone to share this with as hubby and I decided not to tell anyone as I couldn't cope with everyone asking me if I'm pregnant yet.

Bob x

Lizandlulu - never fear, there is always next month and think of the fun you will have along the way! Also, on the bright side I think the blanket purchase is a great idea - keep your eyes on the prize!

I am slightly concerned that my shopaholic tendancies may overtake me completely once I'm preggers and massively hormonal. When my sister was pregnant I bought her a 'weekly present' so think I may have to do the same for myself Wink

MadKatz · 18/08/2010 14:10

Not trying to confuse you all, have changed my name on here (was KHT1975).
CD18 of 34. 2nd day of high temp so fingers crossed. Would be nice 1st month of really trying, but who knows!

Deysee · 18/08/2010 14:42

Can I join in too please :)

We've been TTC #1 for 3 months but no luck so far. Husband is semi pro athlete and trains til late at night, when I'm tired and not really in the mood.Weekends are no existent between now and the spring too - HELP!

Like many of you I have no one to talk to about it as we want to keep it quiet until we hit the jackpot. Its nice to know I'm not alone :)

lizandlulu · 18/08/2010 17:55

mummy abroad - i feel the need to test all the time too, the cost used to put me off as i was buying them and costing around a tenner a time (this was with dd) but have only tested once in 8 weeks this time round. our wilko's tests are only £5.70 for 2!! but still think i am being silly and do something to take my mind off it.

hiya bobbitybob and deysee, its lovely to have others to talk to about ttc, dh is not all that interested or helpful, even though he wanted another baby more than me! and best mate doesnt have kids and is not broody in the slightest, also my mum isnt really interested, she thinks i am slightly crazy for wanting another baby seeing as dd is what you would call a brat spirited child Grin

petitech · 18/08/2010 18:34

hello everyone... does anyone now how early the early response kits are worth using. Sorry if this is a stupid question :s but am really trying to hold back from trying too early! Thank you :-))))

cowboylover · 18/08/2010 20:00

On the box of the First Responce says 64% accurate up to 6 days before your period and costing that much for that low a percentage I dont think its worth it if you can hold off as I know loads of mates who had an early negitive only to have a positive later on.

Ona cost saving note Tesco own tests are on offer at 3 for a 2 pack as DH bought some yesterday for "when we can" Smile

petitech · 18/08/2010 21:14

Thanks for the tip. Think you're right better to hold off. Good luck :-)

NervousNelly · 18/08/2010 21:49

I'm currently feeling very confident that I'm not going to fall into the testing-too-early trap. Going to wait until a week after my ERTD is due shines halo smugly. And if you believe that you'll believe anything!!You can all say I told you so next weekend, but I think I will play the odds game.

So - only one valid shag, day after OV, first ever attempt. Ummmm - 1 in 100? Wonder what the odds actually are Hmm. Hooray, I've found something else to google to while away the time:)

lizandlulu · 18/08/2010 22:03

i am going to google lazy overy. i dont think i ovulated this month. i can only tell form the slimy feeling 'down bleow' and using ovulation tests but i used 5, yes 5 around the time i expected to be ovulating, all negative, and no slimy stuff either, so wondering if i have not ovulated this month? does that happen? is it common?

InTheSunshine · 18/08/2010 22:16

Hey ladies can I join? :)

Been TTC for 8 months now - trying not to get obsessed with charting temperatures / checking cervical mucas (vile) and other things I never knew about until I started reading things on here!!

NervousNelly · 18/08/2010 22:22

Whoops didn't mean to shine my halo in bold Confused!!

lizandlulu · 18/08/2010 22:23

hiya inthesunshine, nice to hear from you (at risk of sounding like a official meeting or something!!)Grin

Badgerwife · 18/08/2010 22:50

Hey NervousNelly, good luck with it, sounds like you're going to need it! Smile

It reminds me of a couple of times last year when I thought I might be pregnant. I only thought so using my "completely wrong" female intuition; I didn't actually have any hard facts at all and knew nothing about ovulation, checking temperature, or in fact, anything at all about my own fertility. So I just took a pregnancy test, did it in the middle of the day,a few days BEFORE my next period. Looking back, I can't believe how much money I wasted on these tests...

A question for all of you, is there really such a thing as a nervous pregnancy? i.e. wanting so much to be pregnant that you get the symptoms without the actual event. I've been trying to stop myself from analysing every physical event I've experienced in the last week and fear I am turning into a bit of a hypochondriac. I've been off the pill 3 weeks, so hardly likely but have been feeling nauseous at random moments and am stuffing myself with nuts and dried fruits like a complete nutcase trying to stave it off like they say in the books. I'm going to become enormous through sheer nut-eating. Biscuit

BabsH · 19/08/2010 06:53

Morning,

I definetly think there can be false prenancy, especially when you want to be pregnant so much, but everyone telling you to relax and not worry doesnt help either!!!! TBH you might be so worried about not being pregnant that you are making yourself feel sick? I dont have any useful stuff to say though, but fingers crossed you actually are!

I've had a pretty good week, no testing, not worrying about things and DH is having a grand time trying for a baby, he is enjoying this stage anyway!!! I've started mooching online to see what fun stuff you can get for babies, last night I was doing an ebay search for maternity clothes as my trousers are getting tight, thats mostly to do with chocolate i think though, but it's good to dream :)

Hope everyone has a good day today :D

lizandlulu · 19/08/2010 08:36

babsh, morning, i have actually BOUGHT a maternity topShock Shock Shock not even pr but got it off the for sale boards here and it was cheapGrin

one day last week i felt sick one morning, and secretly cinvinced myself i was, but no, not to be this month

petitech · 19/08/2010 20:38

crazy how you start imagining symptoms, so far I've convinced myself I was feeling sicky - but think prob had tummy upset as also had other symptoms :-) sorry tmi!
Also convinced my boobs ache and that I have a really rubbery feeling jelly like ring around my lower belly that wasn't there before... however i think i am probably just going bonkers! I think i'm on CD21 and 7 days after ovulation although i have no proof that i even ovulated as couldnt get those damn tests to work... confusing and impatient :-) need will power not to test too early, convincing myself will not happen this month, that way will be surprised if does. Good luck lovely ladies! x

BabsH · 19/08/2010 20:45

I've been buying maternity tops for a while by mistake, just liked the shape of them and then DH points out that there is a space for a bump under there, but thats the danger of TK Maxx I guess!!!

Got some pre natal vitamins tonight, it's like the first deliberate "trying to get pregnant" thing we have done differently to normal!!!

Ilovemarmite79 · 19/08/2010 21:11

Hi. AF is due tomorrow. Really hoping it doesn't come but not feeling too optimistic. I don't 'feel' pregnant. Do you think I'd know or have a feeling if I was?

Truffkin · 20/08/2010 11:14

Morning girls and happy Friday all round.I'm waiting for my friend to arrive so we can drink lots of wine working from home this morning so am catching up with all I missed yesterday.

Although I've joined the thread for August being our first month of 'trying' I don't think we are really trying in the true sense as I only had my implant out a month ago and have had no period at all in that time. No idea when I ovulate or even if I ovulate and with nothing to start counting from I'm a bit up in the air!

Of course, my DH sincerely believes he has the most super of super sperm going so I'll be pregnant already - yes? Wink Good luck to everyone waiting / testing etc over the weekend.

lizandlulu · 20/08/2010 15:05

truffkin Grin all men think they have super sperm dont they??? Hmm

i lovemarmite, i am jealous of those people who just 'know' they are preganant cause i didnt have a bloody clue the first time round! but some of my friends 'just know' without testing, suppose it depends on how in tune with your body you are?

angeltoast · 20/08/2010 18:10

Hi ladies

Would love to join you......am TTC for first time, and am surprised how my 'relaxed' approach has already turned into a near obsession!

Have PCOS so have been battling for 2 years with my weight and taking Yasmin to help symptoms, got green light from Doc to start TTC in May but we freaked out and only came off the pill in June and only started trying properly (albeit in a 'relaxed' way!) in July/August.

AF was due last weekend and took test early and was negative but was ok with that....was then almost a week late and convinced was pregnant....pains different to usual period cramps and just some other stuff....reading these chats made me feel better that I am not totally irrational Blush

Think AF has arrived today, although very light, almost spotting so still not sure what to think.....resisting temptation to POAS again! Trying to stay relaxed as think PCOS will make my journey a long one.....Hmm

cowboylover · 20/08/2010 20:15

I also agree its how much you want to feel it some times; I spent 3 weeks doing it recently!

If you check out the symptom spotting threads on here you will see we are not alone....

BabsH · 20/08/2010 20:48

Evening ladies :)

I agree, every little twinge and I think I might be preggers, but as I havent had a period yet who knows!!!

Hope you all have a grand weekend :)
