So its getting to that strange time of year where people are decorating for Christmas and adverts are on T.V even though its no where near X-mas. My DH and DD and DSD think we should decorate 27th of November or December 1st but I believe December 10th. what do date do you decorate

Mine is going up on the 11th of December, simply because that's the first day off I have with DD, so we're going to do it together.

It varies from year to year. I live in my own & getting it all down from the lift us a bit if a mission, so I put it off, BUT it takes the same amount of effort to do it so I try to get onto it early for maximum enjoyment!! Putting up the tree lights etc with one arm us really difficult & time consuming.

I'll probably get them down from the loft next weekend & put them up the following weekend as I have a day off on the Monday, so plenty of time to get properly sorted and empty boxes back in the loft.

I LOVE Christmas Decorations & mine have been collected over the years, mostly when travelling, so there's a lot of memories in the boxes, I don't get fed up of them. The lights stayed up until mid February this year, might stay up even longer this winter. They are traditional (not LED fairy lights) so they give the room the most beautiful
glow.

2 weeks before Christmas at the earliest #hardline #bahhumbug

Advent decorations in advent (last four Sundays before Christmas).

Christmas decorations on Christmas Eve.

All down on Twelfth Night

#creature of habit.

Cosycover · 11/11/2022 16:55

Start of December. I have loads of decorations and a few trees so takes a few days to sort it all and get it up.

I like it down for New Years but I'm going to leave it up this year till around the 4th.

LBOCS2 · 11/11/2022 16:56

No earlier than the second weekend of December as the first weekend we celebrate our wedding anniversary. We used to time it with DSS's visits, but he is less than unfussed now so we don't (he'll come back to it, he's just a teenager and far too cool at the moment so we don't wait on him).

It all comes down on twelfth night.

Cosycover · 11/11/2022 16:56

Actually our Christmas activities start on the 3rd this year so I'll have it all up for then.

Runestone · 11/11/2022 16:58

First weekend in December usually, might do it a bit later this year though got sick of telling the kids to leave it alone and them breaking all the decorations last year so going to save myself a bit of bother by doing it maybe second weekend of December instead

Suzi888 · 11/11/2022 16:58

Last weekend in November.

Amazongirl9 · 11/11/2022 16:59

First weekend in December if possible and down on new years day.

DramaAlpaca · 11/11/2022 16:59

No earlier than a week before Christmas, so it'll last until 12th night.

HarvestThyme · 11/11/2022 17:01

Up mid-December and down on the 31st.

Retrievemysanity · 11/11/2022 17:03

We have adventy stuff out from the 1st December. Tree is normally the second weekend of December. Other stuff like outdoor lights and random decs indoors go up throughout December as and when we have time.

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 11/11/2022 17:17

Tree up on 10th December this year, because I have a Dsis coming to stay the next day.
Otherwise it’d be a bit later.
Small potted tree will go outside the front door on 1st Dec as usual, though.

MWNA · 11/11/2022 18:38

Topseyt123 · 11/11/2022 12:46

Decs up on Christmas Eve and down on Boxing Day would be my ideal, but I compromise with my family. They usually go up the weekend before Christmas and come down at New Year.

Same! Bloody things. I like the lights but nothing else.

HavfrueDenizKisi · 11/11/2022 18:39

17th December

NoDoor · 11/11/2022 19:19

I’ve already started transitioning the autumn/Halloween decorations to winter and then will add in Christmas over the next few weeks as work is crazy in December and wan tkt enjoy it the us year. Christmas tree the day they arrive in the garden centre!

FleecyBlanketPerson · 11/11/2022 19:25

I have a massive box (which is incredibly shit and leaks snow dust stuff everywhere) with a tree inside, in the hall, and it will probably stay there and piss everyone off for about two weeks. Everyone will have stubbed toes until we find the time to put it up. Can't wait for Christmas.

GettingStuffed · 11/11/2022 19:27

We normally start on 1st December and build up to the tree two weeks before Christmas

IreneJones · 11/11/2022 19:30

We decorate after school has finished. We break up on the 23rd this year so that's when we'll be decorating. Might put the outside decorations up the week before though.

Ihavedogs · 11/11/2022 19:45

Mid December at the earliest as we have a real tree. It will stay up as close to twelfth night as possible.

SwedishDeathCleaner · 11/11/2022 19:54

The tree will go up the second weekend of December and down on 2nd January. The wreath and other bits and pieces will start going up slowly from1st Dec.

Babdoc · 11/11/2022 19:54

Whichever weekend closest to Christmas my adult DC can get here to help drag the tree inside and fix it vertical - I can’t manage a seven foot fir on my own any more.
I used to lie flat on the floor balancing the tree and holding it vertical with one hand while screwing the bolts into the base of the trunk with the other, but age and long covid fatigue have defeated me!
At least it is being delivered - I used to drag one into my car at the garden centre and drive home with a branch sticking in my ear…Grin

mondaytosunday · 12/11/2022 09:02

First weekend in December. Off we'll go to buy the tree Saturday morning and spend the weekend decorating. We usually do a wreath making workshop early December too. The outdoor swags are fake so anytime after Dec 1 for those.

Inasec24 · 13/11/2022 16:59

Closest weekend to 1st December for me. Although this year will actually be Wednesday 30th of November as I am off work.
