I feel he is too old for toys but what else is there?

Sometimes we need to think of something nice when it's all going tits up don't we?

Is the PE kit very specific or could he get away with stuff from Tesco/Asda?

I'd have a look at his letter to FC... he'll give you some ideas himself.
Chin up... you're a resourceful woman!!

TheLadyEvenstarsRomanCandle · 06/11/2009 01:53

Shockers it has to be the specific kit but I should be able to sort that out by Monday/Tuesday.....

FC letter is the way to go me thinks lol

I totally agree with BIWI, and on the Halloween party pics you have splashed all over your FB you certainly don't look hard up to me

A lot of people are in dire straights right now, including myself and i certainly couldnt afford to splash out on a party + booze, and i think you have a fucking cheek to go begging on Trinitys thread 3 days later, disgraceful.

TheLadyEvenstarsRomanCandle · 06/11/2009 09:38

TWC, and what does hard up look like? Ever thought that aside from a few decorations bought from the 99p shop and 4 pumpkins that people brought food and drink with them. The photos are not "Splashed all over Facebook" they are on my profile, which I am entitled to use.

At the time of the party I did not know ds1 would be starting school this Monday coming.

sparklycherrybomb · 06/11/2009 09:41

TheLadyEvenstarsRomanCandle · 06/11/2009 09:46

Thanks for that, he loves Dr Who. I haven't got those bits buts a couple of weeks ago I got 2 daleks a tardis and 3 figures in the local charity shop. Will save that page and get the micro figures!

Completely agree with BIWI.

I would suggest you and your DP, work out how to put a little aside every week, rather than splashing out on expensive items, only need to read your posting history, then perhaps you could manage better when an unforseen cost arises, rather than asking on somebody else's thread who needs help. Yes you didn't start the 2nd thread asking for money, but you knew the thread had been started and commented on the actual thread, before people came on to say how badly thought out it was.

I am that you would think this thread was a good idea actually.

TheLadyEvenstarsRomanCandle · 06/11/2009 10:12

I would suggest you and your DP, work out how to put a little aside every week, rather than splashing out on expensive items WHEN HAVE WE SPLASHED OUT ON EXPENSIVE ITEMS?

then perhaps you could manage better when an unforseen cost arises, rather than asking on somebody else's thread who needs help.- APOLOGISED FOR IT GOT MESSAGES DELETED.

Yes you didn't start the 2nd thread asking for money, I NEVER STARTED A SECOND THREAD ASKING FOR MONEY, I ASKED IF ANYONE COULD HELP WITH ANY OF THE ITEMS.

but you knew the thread had been started and commented on the actual thread, before people came on to say how badly thought out it was. HAD STARTED MY ORIGINAL THREAD BEFORE I SAID WHAT I DID ON TRINITYS THREAD.

WHY IS IT NOT A GOOD IDEA TO LOOK TO THE FUTURE AND ASK FOR IDEA FOR XMAS PRESENTS?

OP posts:
QandA · 06/11/2009 10:18

If you are going to C&P my post and shout back at me, please at least answer the actual points I posted, rather than dodging what I actually wrote.

Just wanted to back BIWI up as I kept quiet during the 'asking for' threads but saw this thread and was

TerryWogansCock · 06/11/2009 10:22

'WHY IS IT NOT A GOOD IDEA TO LOOK TO THE FUTURE AND ASK FOR IDEA FOR XMAS PRESENTS?

Because after your begging thread, it is damn cheeky and very insensitive

There are poeple on here who a genuinely hard up, i mean so hard up they can't afford to buy their little ones chirstmas presents, single parents, who have no family to help them out, who are struggling to feed and clothe their DC.

You on the other hand, have a DP, who WORKS, a close family who you could turn to in an emergency, yet you come here begging for money one minute, then asking for christmas ideas the next, cant you not see why that is wrong?

It doesnt matter a jot that you had the other thread deleted, you were on the scrounge and you cant take it back now

TheLadyEvenstarsRomanCandle · 06/11/2009 10:34

I was not shouting I used captal letters to seperate yours from mine thats all.

OP posts:
TheLadyEvenstarsRomanCandle · 06/11/2009 10:41

TWC the thread I started was asking for help with any of the items.Someone else who understood what I was going through started the second thread. She is also the one who had it deleted not me.

My thread is still on here.

How do you know I have a close family network?? I asked for help with any of the items not money.

mumsnet.com/Talk/9/854843-Ladies-I-need-some-help

that is what i started!

OP posts:
TerryWogansCock · 06/11/2009 10:59

Are you saying you dont have a close family?

TheLadyEvenstarsRomanCandle · 06/11/2009 11:00

my mum who is a pensioner and my sister who has her own family to take care of.

OP posts:
TerryWogansCock · 06/11/2009 11:04

thats more than most of the genuinely hard up people on MN have, your still a scrounging disgrace imo

TheLadyEvenstarsRomanCandle · 06/11/2009 11:34

so asking for help with items is a scrounging disgrace?

OP posts:
fircone · 06/11/2009 11:43

yes. I'd only ask for help if my dcs were starving or needed a life-saving operation.

The school would give you a second-hand uniform if they thought it appropriate.

Fircone, if you read the postings in this thread you will see that I did get second hand bits from the school and have to alter them over the weekend. But I was initially told the school had no second hand items. Which is when I asked if anyone could help with any of the items. On MY thread I never mentioned money I asked if anyone could help with the items. The prices were there as I had copy and pasted straight from an email I had sent.

But Tbh this thread here has nothing to do with that situation. Christmas is still over a month away and my DC deserve presents regardless of how small/cheap they are. Asking for ideas is not a crime.

If it comes to it I will go without what I may need to cater for my children as I always do.

Since when did it become a crime to ask for help and also ask for ideas ffs

OP posts:
TerryWogansCock · 06/11/2009 11:48

Fuck me sideways, i dont even pay that a MONTH in rent

TerryWogansCock · 06/11/2009 11:53

And i am a single parent, living on a council estate and struggling to make ends meet, but would never EVER ask for money on here, i would go to my family if i needed help, i would NEVER scrounge from strangers on the internet, or try and geg in on the generosity that some wonderful generous MN have show to a poor lady who lost her husband in such tragic circumstances

like i said, scrounging disgrace

TheLadyEvenstarsRomanCandle · 06/11/2009 11:57

Shineon,Wish I did live in a castle but actually I live in a 2 bedroom flat, the rent is extremely high. We have to pay that, if you doubt I could scan a copy of my tenancy agreement....

I stated on my thread if anyone could help with any of the items or anything else they thought useful. I never asked for money and if you read my thread you will see that, I believe it was Fab who started the thread asking for donations. I am sick to death of explaining I was hoping someone had a child/knew a child in the same school who would be able to pass on outgrown uniform. And tbh if a mistake i made is going to be dragged up everytime I post on a subject or ask for ideas then MN is not the place it used to be...a place where mums helped eachother in any given situation....whether that be advice, passing on information, or offering used items which could be useful to others.

TheLadyEvenstarsRomanCandle · 06/11/2009 11:58

TWC lucky for you that you can get a council property where I am there are very few empty properties. therefore we have to rent privatly.
