Thanks so much to @Sideorderofchips for keeping things going. I can barely believe it's September and (for me at least!) that only means one thing - Christmas can start!!!!

Hope you've all had a great year and have missed you all. Last couple of years I've had various health things going on so have been a bit distant from the threads. Not quite there yet but feeling stronger than this time last year and I can't wait until I see more festive items in the shops! I've already bought my advent calendar - I've got the taskmaster one (which I'm quite excited about!).

I'll post various links etc in the next thread first post but essentailly you guys know the drill - share and be nice or leave.

I'm useless at doing links but there's a thread also on the Christmas board called "Adult stocking filler ideas - all year round". I've had some great ideas from that in the past.

I think £2 is standard price, there or thereabouts.

At least once in the run-up to last Christmas, Tesco had them for a £1. Guess we’ll know how much inflation has effected things this year as to what Chocolate Orange offers we get!!

@MamaK19 @Nellynoo182 I searched my emails for just this reason and last November lakeland did half price on lots of dreamland heated throws, so I think we need to hold our nerve!

My daughter got one a couple of years ago and it’s still a big hit here . She needed a bit of help at first but now does lots of cute little projects by herself. She is a crafty careful 11yo for context.
i also bought a book from vinted with stencils/ideas in to go with it
and if you do buy one I’d recommend getting extra filament to gift with it.

My dd was gifted one last year when she was just about to turn 7. I suspect it was a tiktok shop one so can't vouch whether theyre all the same but he's got extremely hot at the end. Needed a bit of help sometimes to manually push the filament along and although she enjoyed playing with it struggled with ideas of what to do with it so a book would be helpful as previous poster suggested.

Had it out a handful of times and the last time it started making a clicking sound and smelt like burning so I binned it. The filament had backed up in the nib.

I got my daughter one a few years ago from Smyths, she still occasionally uses it now at 12. No issues and the filaments have lasted well.

I’m irrationally annoyed at Boden- 8 emails from them since Sunday and not one voucher offer! Pah!

Yes, our eldest had the smyths one a few years back. He enjoyed building things (we all had glasses for about a week) but he found it hard to come up with ideas tbh. It still works about 5 years later albeit it isn't used now (I've just kept it aside for the younger kids eventually).

Also for the poster asking about Boots changing offers. They have their Sales Plan on a Tuesday so you can expect new offers to begin on a Wednesday for most things. Sometimes offers like Star gifts may be a different day but that usually corresponds to Christmas. Hope this helps.

The candle warmer lamp is a good idea actually. My DD asked for the snow fairy candle last year and I said no as similar to another poster I didn’t want the candle upstairs but this could be a good solution.

I second this, I’ve done it for years and paired with twine or ribbon; sometimes I find brown Kraft paper stamped with Christmas trees etc on Amazon to mix it up a bit. I think it looks really tasteful!
