Thanks so much to @Sideorderofchips for keeping things going. I can barely believe it's September and (for me at least!) that only means one thing - Christmas can start!!!!

Hope you've all had a great year and have missed you all. Last couple of years I've had various health things going on so have been a bit distant from the threads. Not quite there yet but feeling stronger than this time last year and I can't wait until I see more festive items in the shops! I've already bought my advent calendar - I've got the taskmaster one (which I'm quite excited about!).

I'll post various links etc in the next thread first post but essentailly you guys know the drill - share and be nice or leave.

Regarding Christmas cakes I use the BBC Good Food "as you like it" recipe as you can choose your favourite fruit, nuts, soaking liquid etc. I've used it for years now and it's never failed me.

Thanks for this I ordered the slippers. I made a larger order with a trolls backpack with accessories £3, some slazenger boys shorts £3 each, slazenger tennis tshirts £2 each, puma football socks £2, mini barbieland playset £3, slazenger neck warmer snoods £1, regatta boys long sleeve top £3. Pretty pleased for £40.

Asda have a toy sale on. Some of their own brand Hapello looks good. Particularly the wooden stuff - tea set £11, car transporter £17, train set £13, Hapello magnetic tiles £8. Includes lots of lego too.

I also use the 'As you like it' xmas cake recipe. Thanks for the reminder, will do mine maybe next weekend.

Could I recommend checking out charities shops near you as shops often pass on stock.

Found “The World of Miss Marple” jigsaw for £6 which in mainstream shops tend to sell for £18.

Also picked up an Orchard game for £3 which sells for more.

Both games were brand new and still in their packaging. There were more copies in the charity shop so obviously an overstock in shops they came from.

I saw boots have some introductory prices on some of thier Christmas gifting. Managed to score DS a pack of lynx shower gels for £10 as opposed to the 20 I paid last year.

Might not be to your liking, but I did come across this earlier today on HUKD. Sold as "like new" but the OP seems to think it could be an overstock issue (rather than a return) as they have hundreds for sale.
