I had similar and they were easy to open and check…
Ive ordered two packs to split for my advent bags (I gift adult kids and hard to buy for relative and his partner December bags filled with goodies to enjoy over the advent period). Plus they also have v cute baby slipper socks
which I also bought for littlest grandbaby and walking socks for our friends birthday too to get free delivery and a free gift too!

Thanks @bigwig78!

Just wondering if my recipients will be wondering what's inside but then that is kind of the point of a cracker, isn't it? 😄

I vaguely recall a Regatta sale on winter coats last year but can't remember if it was leading up to winter or if I am too late. Can anyone remember please before I pay full price for a coat 🙈

I think it was an eBay outlet store, but it doesn't appear to exist now.

Ah, OK. Thanks @NoWordForFluffy ☺️

Grüum are doing a bundle for world sleep day today, £7.99 delivered. Could make a lovely gift for someone. Their stuff is really nice, I became a convert after seeing them on here!

I ordered two sets of the sock crackers and they cancelled the order and refunded me for no reason! Will have to try again.

Hi I will have a 5/6 week old for Christmas this year. We usually stay over my parents house for Christmas because we live about an hour away and all our friends and family (incl partners) live in their village. However it is often stressful and I hate packing everything up when it was just us and I worry how it will be with a newborn. I do struggle with my dad's negativity a lot and often feel like a child again.

The problem is the one hour drive to see anyone, we do want to see friends and family over Christmas but I also don't know how I feel with driving back and forth?

But this seems better than having to pack up everything for the baby and living out of a suitcase.

My husband thinks it will be fine staying at my parents house because we are both off work and is thinking what else will we be doing.

I should mention we LOVE Christmas. We love our family traditions but I'm not sure whether it will be too much to keep driving with a newborn.

I definitely think I can't hack staying over, and I don't really think I want to host a Xmas dinner - can anyone tell me what they did in a similar situation (medium distance away from everyone) to balance loneliness and mental sanity.

Any suggestions would be welcome!

I don’t think this is the right thread for this post. These threads are about Christmas gifts, rather than Christmas advice.
I think you should copy and paste your post and start a thread of your own to get the advice/suggestions you are looking for. Maybe request MNHQ to delete your post from this thread so it doesn’t de rail. If you start your own thread you will get lots of helpful advice.

Lordy I'm sorry but I had a five week old for Christmas when DD was born and there is no way in hell anyone would have been able to dictate what I did then. I called all the shots and folk had to go along with me; the new mother with the new baby. We barely went out in the first six weeks as the weather was bad that winter.

Order a lovely little hamper to be sent to your parents and tell them you won't be able to make it. Eff your Dad off treating you like a child for one bloody year and tell them now that you won't be doing it. Stay at home and snuggle up with an easy ish dinner and no crazy expectations.

You don't know how you will feel post birth / how you will be getting on with feeding / sleeping routine etc. You will literally just be finding your feet. Like I say, add in weather issues or winter viruses (you won't want a dozen folk passing your baby around and spreading their germs) and just no, no, no.

Get your partner on side and do it now. Please. Bless you and good luck x

I wonder if you had a bad batch as I've tried mine and they're fine.

Same here. Most of them ended up in the bin. I think you must have had the “good batch” 🙂

Yalz · 11/08/2026 22:44

@wendy1288 , thank you for mentioning the Ocado M&S household sale. They have lots of candles (some refillable/refills) at 75% off, and also throws and bedding.

I have a free delivery offer this week, too,

TheCryingTheBitchAndTheFloordrobe · 12/08/2026 01:08

@PumpkinSpicedTeathere’s no indication on the outside of the sock crackers what’s inside, but they’re quite heavy! No risk of someone chucking it to the side and not bothering to pull it, I’d say.
