OMG what world do people live in that this is a 'lovely' Christmas present. Personally (and I understand I am only speaking for myself with any authority), I would rather you keep your fiver or give it to charity.

IMO it is not a thoughtful gift but it is an insult...

There's a lad next door to me who's always detailing his car, he'd probably be thrilled with a bunch of car cleaning stuff. People like different things.

A car cleaning kit would have been perfect for my husband.
My equally car obsessed daughter loves car freshener/wipes etc - and it saves her buying them.

I’ve had an idea for a difficult to buy for person.
He loves chocolate - so I’m going to buy a bar of Tony’s chocolony when it’s on offer, get 7 flavours and wrap them tied with a bow.
It will look lovely and it’s a nice present and an easy way to buy them by just sticking one in my Ocado basket.
Itoften seems to be on offer on Ocado/Tesco .

You’d hate the presents my mum gives me. She wraps everything up from shampoo to cotton buds and last year she got me a big set of Zoflora cleaning stuff 😂

Some people quite like practical gifts I think. Dm can be a bit like this, and tends towards seeing a lot of things as a waste of money and too indulgent. She was absolutely delighted last year with a device for drying wet walking boots! I think if they're well chosen practical gifts can be nice.

Yes DH is a runner and always moaning about his wet trainers in the winter which take days to dry out.
I bought him one of those drying gadgets after reading about them on here last year and he thought it was the best present ever.

In this world. I name change every year but have been on MN for many years, and this is the happiest corner.

On this thread, I've found brilliant little magnetic lights that stick under car bonnets for DHs stocking, probe type microscopic cameras that plug into his phone bless him he thinks he's a spy and all manner of website glitches resulting in a coffee machine and 80 pods for £20.

I'll get him a luxury advent, and some lovely bespoke clothes from a tailor he likes. But from here, I'll find him all manner of car gadgets and trinkets to go in his stocking that he'll get so much joy from. And so do I, it doesn't matter what we earn, I love, love, love a bargain. Eldest DS, one of his most favourite toys was a random little worm discovered on here about 10yrs ago. I only got it because it went down to about £2. He loved that bloody worm. Who would have known.

I totally agree,I bought a keyring that had a number of quotes from the A team from M&S for £2 my DS1 who is now 23 says it was the best stocking present he ever had.

I always buy DH a stocking filler from B&M Bargains, a cleaning spray for his screens with an e cloth, £6. He uses it all the time and has asked for it in his stocking in following years! 😂

The milk chocolate caramel and sea salt flavour is the crack cocaine of chocolate.

Amazon has a few Contigo travel mugs on offer. I usually pay £20 plus for the loop lockable one (I loose them fairly frequently 😂). The pink one is £15.69. That's going to be for my MIL.

The cheaper Byron model is also on offer for £9 in red or black.

Really rate these, don't break when dropped and 100% leak proof.

Not a bargain but if you search Christmas decorations on the John Lewis app they have started to put this year’s ranges up.

Good suggestion - Contigo mugs are great. I bought the snapshut version after recommendations on here last year and it's great, really tough and often ends up upsidedown in my hiking rucksack and never leaked at drop. They often pop up under a tenner in Asda or Tesco too so worth keeping an eye out.
