Can we have a thread for presents for husbands?

Just that really, looking for inspiration and I've found these kind of threads super helpful before! Husbands who don't really need/want anything but you'd like to get them something lovely and thoughtful anyway!

Previous successes have been: Swiss Army knife, really nice belt, really nice hat (we're in Australia so an Akubra), entire wheel of cheese (this worked as we had a big party so it was 'his' but would all get eaten!), Toyo Japanese toolbox for his car tools, sous vide wand.

Looking forward to hearing ideas!

Ah that’s cute you do him a stocking ☺️

I do Dh a stocking too along with the kids. He never had one ever until I started doing it as he grew up with little money so presents were rare.

i love watching his inner child heal

SardineJam · 25/11/2025 19:34

A kindling cracker wood chopper and a cast iron frying pan to use on the bbq

hellowhaaat3632 · 25/11/2025 19:35

Theragun massager, socks and tee shirt

If only they would spend this much thought on us... sigh. Luckily I thought of my own gifts so won't be disappointed 😆

Ohh what do I need to search to find those? Not DH's alley but right up little bros.
Space-play

Thanks - link sent to little bro's DH who never knows what to get him (we only do secret Santa among the adults and I have big bro this year).

So far just the usual really, aftershave, toiletries, gloves and a hoodie but want to get him a coffee machine …

Does anyone has any recommendations
for one?

Ideally, not looking at something hugely expensive but wanting a bean one not the pods.

DeLonghi Dedica - best price is currently at Curry’s (£135).

Waynettaaa · 26/11/2025 03:43

DH never wants or needs anything 😩

This year, his main gift is a ZX Spectrum I got on offer on Amazon (going back to our youth!). I've also got him a selection pack of different types of liquorice. I always buy him marzipan fruits and those lemon slice sweets, and I'll buy him some fresh coffee beans. I haven't decided what else to get for Christmas, yet.

His birthday is also in December, so I'm going to buy him a bottle of ouzo and make him a personalised glass, with some sort of quote about wishing he was drinking it in Greece.

weaselwords · 26/11/2025 03:54

The best thing I ever got my husband was a bat detector 🦇. He has so much fun with it in the summer.

MyChristmasCheerHasBuggeredOff · 26/11/2025 05:07

Wordbly books

Hard back collection of newspaper headlines on the day he was born from then till now.
Not cheap but he will hopefully like it

caringcarer · 26/11/2025 06:30

Reading as looking for inspiration. In the past I have bought DH tickets to international cricket matches and rugby matches.
Season ticket for Warwickshire county cricket games.
Travel mug for stocking
Trainers
Cheese making kit for stocking
Bottle of Kraken rum
Amaretto coffee beans for stocking
Books I know he wants
Various tools he's asked for

This year he has retired early and I'm struggling as he's already booked himself several cricket tickets. He doesn't need any new clothes ATM. He's already renewed his season pass for Warwickshire county cricket and bought himself a new tool gadget. I did wonder about a new BBQ for the garden as ours is very old and he likes to BBQ. I'm even struggling on getting stocking fillers for him as now he's home with more time he browses and buys himself things more. I'm waiting to see what he buys himself on black Friday.

myblueskirt · 26/11/2025 06:34

I got mine a satchel for work from a brand he likes. I have practical things for the stocking such as socks but like many of the ideas on here too so may rethink my boring practical ones and have a bit more of a mix.

countrygirl99 · 26/11/2025 06:37

Birds of Ecuador and Galapagos. As that's where we are going next year.

Sadly, my DH has passed away, so I haven't been buying any Christmas presents for a significant other in a few years.
But I used to shop all year for him. We were not materialistic; we did not care about brand name clothing or the newest electronic, or things like that. We didn't spend money just for the purpose of having more stuff to unwrap, but tried to make our gifts meaningful. Quality and thoughtfulness over quantity.

I like to give practical gifts. Really nice luxury warm socks, a emergency survival kit to put into the car, a new fire extinguisher. Yeah I know, I know. Not very exciting right? But practical.

But sometimes I also just buy things that I think he would find fun. I got him some toys from when he was young (like Lionel or marx trains); he was a big kid at heart, and also loved mechanical banks (even if they were modern reproductions of antiques) and clockwork/windup toys especially tintype ones.

I would make him a calendar, a personalized one. One year the theme was lovely photographs from our weekly nature walks. One year was pictures of our family and pets. And one year I went racy and did a lingerie type selection of photos and surprised him with that!!

I’m so sorry your DH has passed.

You sound very thoughtful, kind and quirky, with a touch of sauciness 🤪

Nothing can take the place of your lovely man, but I hope you have (or will find) a meaningful happiness to share with someone who deserves to have such a beautiful soul to help navigate life with 🥰

christmasideers · 26/11/2025 07:13

I do my husband a stocking (which is mostly pants, socks, chocolate with a couple of random objects thrown in- this year a Japanese butter knife so he stops microwaving the butter).

Then I’ve planned a year of dates, starting with A in January and ending with Z in December. All things he will enjoy (I’m dreading a couple of them), some new experiences, some free activities, some expensive, some low cost…I’ve pre booked what I can but the rest are just planned and will be booked closer to the time. He’ll have a book with them all written in to open on the day.

Barrenfieldoffucks · 26/11/2025 07:15

Mine is refusing all bar useful gifts, so he will be getting some tins of boat varnish and a couple of magazine subscriptions...again about boats 😂

CurlewKate · 26/11/2025 07:19

I need this! I had a perfect for him jumper from Community Clothing in my basket-went to buy it today and it’s sold out. I have no idea why I didn’t buy it 3 weeks ago-somehow it felt too early….

Slimtoddy · 26/11/2025 07:49

Best gift I got him one year was a kite. I like to get gadgets e.g. swiss army knife. Am struggling this year so this thread helpful

GameOfJones · 26/11/2025 08:02

DH is great with buying presents and really does put thought into mine and what he buys for me so I obviously want to do the same. He's a tricky one though because if he wants something he just buys it himself so I tend to stick to consumables or practical stuff. This year he's getting:

A bottle of brandy (he really likes brandy so I usually buy him a different bottle each year.)

A mini aftershave discovery set.... I bought him a mini 10ml of aftershave designed for keeping in a suit pocket years ago which went down well.

I'm making him a hamper of all of his favourite types of snacks. Pork crackling, nuts, different crisps, chocolates, coffee beans etc.

A meat thermometer as he likes his BBQs.

Inahuff · 26/11/2025 08:10

I've got mine a hockey jersey (from a TV show) and a switch game. He also got new trainers but he's wearing them. I'm probably going to get him a marvel Lego set too. I've been eyeing up a retro game that he used to love but if I get that, I need to get the console to go with it. His birthday isn't long after Christmas so perhaps I'll get it for then. Will probably get him a Guinness glass and beer set and a toblerone to pad it out. It's hard buying for this man.

OneOfEachPlease · 26/11/2025 17:21

I am really struggling with my other half! So far I have got him a little safe that looks like a book, a set of novelty shot glasses which look like chemistry set, a murder mystery thing.

last year I got him a wine bucket set (which he never used), a humidifier (which he used a handful of time), some very nice wine and a shirt.

he doesn’t really have hobbies that you can buy stuff for, doesn’t really read and is quite scathing about branded stuff. And has announced he doesn’t really want “stuff “.

I’m really stuck!
