Let's have a thread to keep each other company while we wait.

I've set my alarm already!

HeartyViper · 03/11/2025 18:22

What time do you log on? I always seem to be number 1638191738101739229 in the queue!

TheFairyCaravan · 03/11/2025 18:23

I’ve set my alarm ready to go. Can’t wait 🥱🥱🥱

Zempy · 03/11/2025 18:35

I have set my alarm for 5:30 so I have time to make a cup of tea first!

Same!
I'm getting up at 5.40.

Last year I got up at 5, and I don't think it made it any quicker for me.

I wish the buggers wouldn't do it so early in the morning.
🤣

Are we diehard slot queens mad for doing this every year?

I don't think we are. It's the start of Christmas for me!

I will already be up and on my way to work so I will have to wait until I get there to try to log on.

Zempy · 03/11/2025 18:42

Yeah me too. I wish it was a 5am start actually as I get up at six normally. I would have more chance of getting a good slot if more people were put off by an earlier start 🤣

DeanStockwelll · 03/11/2025 18:44

Buying Christmas puds at 6am , we must be mad !

Dreamstosell · 03/11/2025 18:44

Traditionally I’ve always joined the huge queue for Christmas slots. Unfortunately I downgraded myself to the off peak delivery plan this year as I realised I always used evening slots anyway. But now I can’t get the priority access to Christmas slots 😢. Won’t know what to do with myself tomorrow morning 😂

Coconutter24 · 03/11/2025 18:47

For those that don’t have a delivery pass the Christmas slots are released on the 11th

I’m get one going - we’ve ordered all the meat for the day and Boxing Day from the butchers but need the rest. Feels late this year though - I’m sure I did it early October last year, but it might have been Waitrose.

DoloresOnTheDottedLine · 03/11/2025 18:59

This is my first year joining the stampede/queue. Do you do it via the app in the way you’d book a normal slot, or is there another route? Any tips appreciated for a newbie!

It's always the first Tuesday in November for Tesco's.

I'm ordering the turkey from the butcher's but most of the rest of the food is coming from Tesco's.

They're the only shop that delivers to our little Scottish village.

Yes, log in to the app as early as you can bear to.
You'll then be placed in a queue.

I got to the front of the queue at about 20 past 6, and got all the slots I wanted, right up to New Year's Eve.

And it's so pointless, as far as Christmas puddings are concerned.

I've still got three left over from last year.

You do it the usual way via the app, but you go into a holding pen which tells you how many people are ahead of you trying to book.

Tesco ask people to just bung in a few carrots and sprouts and checkout quickly just to secure your slot and let the next person in. Obviously you then have seven weeks to add all the rest.

However, some bastards hold it up by doing their whole fucking shop… 😡😡😡

Actually there is a way to write your whole shop out then transfer it over I think, which is probably pretty quick. But I am dyspraxic and it’s too complex for me 😊

CharlotteCChapel · 03/11/2025 19:17

I thought DH did this a few weeks ago, I know for sure we've done Waitrose.

DoloresOnTheDottedLine · 03/11/2025 19:18

Thanks team - very helpful! I am definitely of the bung-two-bottles-of-champagne-in-the-basket-and-check-out-quick persuasion so I’ll get in and out as fast as possible! I’ve got a 15 month old who is generally up for the day at 5.45am so he and I can make it our joint mission tomorrow morning…

Me too! Even though I log in at about 5am, I still end up having to wait at least 2 hours in the queue. Yet my friend who lives a couple streets away, and logs in at the same time, generally only waits 2 minutes and is done! It's been the same for the past few years.

KittyWilkinson · 03/11/2025 19:48

Thanks for the heads up. I've just set up a plan. Hurray! Flowers
